Best thing is when you guys just sit and enjoy each others playing, you're such amazing dudes! Nothing like "yea yea, now it's my turn", just pure respect and love for each other and life. You're an inspiration! Amazing, love it, mega!
I feel so happy when I watch your videos, and that's probably why. It's genuine joy for the things you do. Thanks for the reply guys, keep up the amazing stuff! :)
I saw your comment and was going to say, "hey, how about getting Simon Keats in to talk about the Revival Drive", and 30 seconds latter Mick mentioned they'd just done an episode on it. Can't wait! I love your Cali76 btw.
Please bring Keats to properly range the Revival Drive it never gets a true perspective! Stop putting this pedal in "shootouts" it is not your basic OD or preamp pedal with normal EQ knob twisting. Can't get clean, oh my god man! And you had the manual????
Continuum was a keeley ts808..he acquired the ts10s a year later just before the Where the light is concert as a gift from Renne his (SRV's) guitar tech :)
Fascinating piece of information/knowledge! I’ve been a huge TS-808 fan going back a long time before we have all of the pedals we have today. I’ve had every iteration except for the TS-10 which I actually just purchased because I really think I overlooked for a lot of years. I’m looking forward to testing it out and seeing if it becomes my new favorite pedal. I may look into the Keeley 808 now too!
Mick: "My least favorite Tube Screamer." Dan: "Really! Why's that?" Mick: "We're about to find out." Honestly, I don't know what I love more about this show - the playing or the banter. I suppose the gear and knowledge thereof are also alright as well. ;) Ace episode as always, gents!
Revisiting this episode (holeee Moses - that Sidecar!), I realised that I'd rather watch old episodes of TPS than most television shows. I haven't been playing much lately. Paused the ep after that chord that Dan schwanged on the Hudson at 36:47 and played my 335 for 2 hours straight. Thx TPS.
Boss SD1 is still my favourite out of this lineup- possibly because it was the first pedal that I ever bought and there's a nostalgia factor in my head
My buddy dropped me off the Bonsai pedal a few weeks ago just to mess with it. I'm not a Tubescreamer kinda guy but if I needed to get one I'd NO DOUBT get the JHS Bonsai. I'm 61 and loves me some FUZZ!! :) Killer playing as always dudes!! Shalom fromThe Big Sky Country of Lakeside MONTANA USA!!!
Another superbly clarifying video with you two sounding great as always. Thanks guys, and a special thanks to Simon for his heretofore unheralded effects highlighting that adds so much clarity to each video. Yes!
Amazing revisit of the TS. Thx guys. I think I have to get me some Sidecar! And love the guitar face from Dan when the Sidecar kicked in. Priceless. Lol
The TS9 sounded exactly as you described, Mick. Stringy and loose with too much sizzle. Nailed it. You spoke what I was thinking about it. Love the tighter more defined sound of the others. Loved the episode. Mayer/SRV sounds are my sound.
I bought my Tube Screamer TS10 at a Thrift Store for $6.00 ! That's SIX BUCKS!!!! It is a 1986 Model made in Japan so it has the JRC 4558 in it. I opened it and checked. Best deal I ever got. It is in mint condition too. :)
I am just not a TS guy. But even a show about pedals that you don’t like helps you to eliminate “what if” questions. I now know that I don’t need any of those pedals for my own style. Thanks Dan and Mick.
That Bonsai sounds great, not the biggest fan of JHS pedals but I'm really tempted to give that a go. And I quite like the floor-board look of the back wall :)
Hi! May I ask what you dont like about the JHS pedals? I'm looking into this and their new Tighty Whitey compressor, but I've never owned a compressor or Tube screamer. Thanks!
D-Nasty's Noise I own several JHS pedals and they are all top notch. I own a Morning Glory, Cheese Ball fuzz, and the Unicorn V2 Univibe. They are all great pedals. I am about to buy the Bonasi for the TS-10 and TS-7 settings alone even though they all sound great.
Damn, that Walrus sounds GOOOOOOD! Might just have found my first od pedal ever! Always just relied on the dirt I could push my amps into,- but this...... Sonic bliss incarnate! Good job, Walrus Audio. Youv´e gotten yourselves a new customer,- and I´m a metal head! What do you know?
Always love those opening guitar improvisations. That look on Dans face (at the 1:00 mark)when he anticipated the exact riff Mick was about to toss in, almost like he'd heard the sequence a time or 2 before... ;)
Gain/fuzz based episodes are what I live for. Some of the best tones come from these. Funny enough I was never interested in fuzz until your show covered them. Great vid!
Matt38977897 - ha! Same with me! I think the analogman fuzz show really did it for me, those pedals are so musical. I have played big muffs etc and its just a wall of noise with no dynamics. Cant get into it. But the AM fuzz is much different...playable.
That fly landing on Mick's face and Mick saying we're not scum, I promise, has to be the best moment yet! The tears of laughter and a sore stomach made my day GENTS!
The joy in both your faces is the cherry on the cake. Truly genuine content. If you had to pick one of the Sidecar or the Warhorn, which would it be? I'd love to try the Sidecar at 18v or 24v.
I am sure we all love the new takes on the classic pedals. One on the Marshal Gov'nor would be both fun for you guys and it could be soon the most watch dirt box review EVER!!! If you do be sure to include a pedal that has been around long enough to have been missed by thousands of new buyers the Wilson Sparkling Blue... there take has nailed the raw guts and winner take all spirit of the original. I just discovered it and was trembling trying to get my credit card out of my wallet!!! LOL
Strangely, I woke up panicking that I'd sold my Tube Screamer & genuinely couldn't remember if I still had it or not! It's not been on my board for sometime. Rushed downstairs to check and to my relief, yes I've still got it! Was really worried for a few moments, Will be back on my board this morning :) love the show by the way. x.
Hello from the US (Central Daylight Time)! I just woke up to find this video in my queue and I’m enjoying it whilst eating my breakfast! Cheers, TPS gang!
I didn't realize it was a john mayer strat, until you said it in the video. I saw it on one of your old videos and hunted down what the knobs were. Bought them a few months ago. instagram.com/p/Bhe-CcIhEQH/?
I’m really happy to hear that you guys like everything that Walrus Audio makes, a few years ago I started buying all their releases & have never been disappointed! Yes, I have tons of pedals from other manufacturers but Walrus is the company that has never disappointed.
I recently bought a Bonsai, and it is truly phenomenal. The XR and TS9 settings are my favorites, used in low gain settings with the clean channel on the amp driven to just before breakup.
@fastguitar i find that each and every one of the screamers reproduced here is excellent in its own way. I still prefer those two because they do it for me: low gain boost with amazing transparency, letting a good sounding guitar keep its individuality.
I don’t know how I missed this show. Great playing, Mick! I absolutely love my TS-10. It’s my favorite TS; I’ve had the 808, TS-9 (modded and unmodded) and a TS-5. I recently built a 10 clone and in some ways like it better. It’s like a boutique TS-10 with mods. But there is something about the 10 that the clone doesn’t have. Funny, I feel I still need both. Haha
@fastguitar yes and it's great. Cheapet than a real ts10 and you wouldn't be able to tell then apart. All the patches are great copies but I love the ts10,MSL and ts9 best
Great TS Show! Personally I use the TS808DX which adds a clean boost to the OD as a second channel. You can engage both sides and flip order just like the D&M Drive. Me thinks I need to check out the JHS pedal, that was well done.
Excellent as usual. Even though it's well covered ground, everyone loves a TS video. I'm just here to represent the TS9. Give it more love please Mick. If the TS9 was good enough for SRV it can't be too bad :P
..love Mick’s taste for strats..(..and playing isnt bad at all...haha..wonderful as always!...dan’s too;) Btw..just got my Bonsai 2weeks ago...love it..not gonna use all 9 of them probably..but 5-6 most certainly...)
I always keep going back to my vintage 1980 TS808. To me, vintage is king. Analogman Silver Mod TS9 is a very, very good modern compromise. Wish you guys had the TS808HW in this one. It's a different tonal take on the tube screamer. Very warm, would sound great for fusion guitar.
This might not be a popular opinion, but I think the best sound of the whole video was the RYRA 808. It has a little more life and sparkle than the TS808 and even the JHS. You guys really came to life as players when it came on- like, it inspired you. It sounded like a TS, but just a really good one with a touch of "magic" so to speak. That said, I doubt I'm going to buy one...
I found it funny that Andertons had 6 Hudson Sidecars in stock when this video came out. They all got sold soon after. Glad I got my order in quickly!!!
Friday night amps are humming in the background One bottle of Fine scotch whisky, my Gretsch in my hand and TPS loud as my monitors will go. Rest of the world can go-get for the next hour and a half. Thank the Gods for Guitar Dan, Mick and Simon
Thanks so much for the awesome video Mick and Dan! The pedals sounds amazing 😊 i particularly loved the to e of the Ryra! It sounded so close to to the original. I was possibly looking to buy one as I’m on a quest to find a Tube Screamer that sounds as creamy and good as the original 1980s TS808 but without the $1500 price tag! Lol! I had the good fortune to have and play one for a few days last week and posted a video on my channel just yesterday of that pedal - oh man what ana amazing experience playing that pedal! Just wow! Blew me away how good the original is. I have a custom made Screamer which I have used a great deal in the past but it just sounded flat against the 1981. The original just has this unbelievable dynamic range! I have a Q that you might be able to help me with. One of the things I noticed about the TS808 was that it sounded very 3D - the notes, especially low notes - really popped out of the speakers. It is incredibly dynamic. That was the magic I heard. Do you have that kind of sensation with the Ryra? Thanks guys! Love the channel and vids. Have an amazing day!!! 😊🙏🤟
Back in the nineties I bought a distortion pedal, which was my only guitar pedal until like two years ago when I started playing electric a bit more again. Only when I started watching guitar gear UA-cam videos I checked what that pedal actually was - a Tubescreamer TS10 :) I was a bit disappointed that it wasn’t the famous original TS, but it’s still a nice pedal.
The SD-1 was my first pedal ever (back in the mid 90s) and it still is my favorite overdrive. I had a feeling but I didn't realize how similar to the tube screamer it is.
I bought a Bad Monkey to let my Lionheart L5T-112 sound a bit better at appartment volume. Did the job. ☺ After seeing this show i'm willing to upgrade!
I’ve listened to constantly for nearly three years now. Mick here. It’s total anathema to me. Wonder if we could go to Fender and have them diagnose it?
Just a really good shew.........!!! And such a great bunch of pedals that pursue such nuanced sounds. My problem is I can't deal with all the plethora of pedals that are out there these days. That John Mayor Strat sounds awesome, Mick! And that Gemanium Hudson pedal drives a Les Paul to the sound of Rock!
Both of your playing is really exceptional in this one. Also, the Super never cowers in a corner but it does sound incredible. Every episode you do with it makes me want one... But I really want a Two Rock Classic Reverb Signature.... *pulls hair out*
Great ep. Dan and Mick! Dan, that lick on 4:36 is awesome! I'm going to make a little 'how-to video' for it : ). I've made three of these so far on my channel. The Big Chopper indeed sounds awesome!
“I won’t rise to this”. You tell ‘em, Simon! 😂
It's the most English text response I could imagine
The Bonsai is my favorite pedal on my board... loads of tones in one box
Best thing is when you guys just sit and enjoy each others playing, you're such amazing dudes! Nothing like "yea yea, now it's my turn", just pure respect and love for each other and life. You're an inspiration! Amazing, love it, mega!
Thank you Johan - we’re glad you see it like that! It’s not contrived to be so, but we’re just genuinely stoked to be able to do this. Cheers!
I feel so happy when I watch your videos, and that's probably why. It's genuine joy for the things you do. Thanks for the reply guys, keep up the amazing stuff! :)
Mick, hands down if I could play like anyone on UA-cam, I'd play like you. Such great tone, style, and soul.
Maaaaan! Get in! Killer tone right from the start!
Please give Simon a high-five from us! 😂😂😂 at 16:40
Simon! Simon! Simon! He should have schwang one of these episodes.
I saw your comment and was going to say, "hey, how about getting Simon Keats in to talk about the Revival Drive", and 30 seconds latter Mick mentioned they'd just done an episode on it. Can't wait! I love your Cali76 btw.

Best show description you’ve ever written, Mick. I’m still laughing!
Excellent! Thank you for reading it. :0)
Agreed! Can't stop laughing
Same tho
Completely agree. Mick, thanks for putting all the details in the show description. I use it all the time going back to past videos.
Loved it.
I can imagine Mick pulling out his Keeley-modded 808 and whispering "there's no place like home....there's no place like home"
32 likes and the video hasn't even been out long enough to finish watching the whole thing. That's how you know you are great.
Mick: "My least favorite Tube Screamer."
Dan: "Really! Why's that?"
Mick: "We're about to find out."
Honestly, I don't know what I love more about this show - the playing or the banter. I suppose the gear and knowledge thereof are also alright as well. ;)
Ace episode as always, gents!
Then the following settings show no discernable difference between the 9 and the 808. Haha.
Just purchased the Hudson Sidecar from Riff City. GREAT episode! Thanks and cheers from Maryland, USA
Cool! They are good guys - thanks for letting us know!

25:10 When that strat moved my heart skipped a beat LOL
Came here to find this comment
All I wish for is somebody to look at me the way Dan looks at Mick in the intro
that made my day haha
Wow the Hudson Sidecar pedal sounds amazing!!! Execellent video as always TPS -thank you for your insights! :)
I agree! Now to choose between the Sidecar and the Broadcaster...
Yea I have the same dilema ;-) There both amazing pedals!
If you want to make your own Broadcast, PEdalPCB sells the replica circuit board.
I have the JHS Muffuletta and love it. I hope they come out with a bunch of Fuzz Faces in one pedal!
Another superbly clarifying video with you two sounding great as always. Thanks guys, and a special thanks to Simon for his heretofore unheralded effects highlighting that adds so much clarity to each video. Yes!
Excellent, more excellent when louder with added Hudson, Cheers chaps :)
That Hudson Sidecar is Spectacular.
Amazing revisit of the TS. Thx guys. I think I have to get me some Sidecar! And love the guitar face from Dan when the Sidecar kicked in. Priceless. Lol
You can tell Dan is from Australia, didn't raise an eyebrow about the fly. From 1 Aussie to another.
Best channel on UA-cam, keep up the great work.
Ah, cheers cobber ;)
The accent didn’t give it away?
Great show again guys, love the walrus pedal.
Nice play at the beginning Dan😊
Best players & demos on UA-cam. A fantastic oasis during a year of lock-downs in L.A. ☮️
Thank you. Our very best to the city of angels!
The TS9 sounded exactly as you described, Mick. Stringy and loose with too much sizzle. Nailed it. You spoke what I was thinking about it. Love the tighter more defined sound of the others. Loved the episode. Mayer/SRV sounds are my sound.

Okay, I have to be honest. Seriously, I'd rather hear you guys improvise than hear any other music in existence. Love to you both!
Woah! Thanks!
I am just not a TS guy. But even a show about pedals that you don’t like helps you to eliminate “what if” questions. I now know that I don’t need any of those pedals for my own style. Thanks Dan and Mick.
See, it’s all useful right?
dang this is EXACTLY what i wanted to see someone do with the Bonsai! Thanks for this
Great Show Dudes!!!!! That Sidecar pedal is RULING!!! Bonzai clearly doest it all!! Thanks!!!
Thanks!
D-Nasty's Noise

Ok.. the best strat tone EVER at the begginin'.. well done mr. Taylor!
Ah come on. Go and listen to Philip Sayce and Matt Schofield immediately! Cleanse yourself!
Great playing and great video guys! I loved every SRV sounding minute.
So pleased to see the Audio Kitchen amp on the show, they're sooooo good!
Yep, Dan here, it’s a revelation
Thanks, Tim!
First thing is first, you guys got the lighting in the room right! Looking great while sounding great.
Ts10 seems like something I would dream about in a guitar dream even if it wasn’t real
Finally the episode I've been waiting for but you missed out my poor man's favourite - the Bad Monkey ;-)
The start of that is like a John Mayer concert. Loved it. Might have to look into the sidecar
Always love those opening guitar improvisations. That look on Dans face (at the 1:00 mark)when he anticipated the exact riff Mick was about to toss in, almost like he'd heard the sequence a time or 2 before... ;)
Always nice to watch you guys. Great job as usual.

Ryan Hill yes! The sun face fuzz’s! Same here!
Sidecar amazing in headphones!! Dripping with tonal honey!
That fly landing on Mick's face and Mick saying we're not scum, I promise, has to be the best moment yet! The tears of laughter and a sore stomach made my day GENTS!
Heyyy, that's my Big Chopper! Can't believe it took me this long to find the vid, ya'll are awesome as always. Rock on!
The joy in both your faces is the cherry on the cake. Truly genuine content. If you had to pick one of the Sidecar or the Warhorn, which would it be? I'd love to try the Sidecar at 18v or 24v.
Sidecar for me - Mick here. I usually prefer my pedals at 9 volts, so it’d be 18 if that’s the lowest next available option. Cheers!
A really good comparison of some great pedals, thanks for this.
Nice video!! After this, you can do a video about a "transparent" overdrive, like BD-2, Timmy, Klon, or something like that..! Cheers guys! Ciao!
Wow. That sidecar is inspiration for days. I'm having a happy Dan moment over here. It was worth suffering all those awful green sounds for that :D
Great show today boys and that bonsai is a very impressive pedal. 👍
Cheers Ant, yeah, it’s really great
I am sure we all love the new takes on the classic pedals. LOL
that is THE mayer sound thats insane! I love it!
Great video, would have loved to have seen a few of the maxon od's, jhs moonshine and the khdk ghoul screamer.
Strangely, I woke up panicking that I'd sold my Tube Screamer & genuinely couldn't remember if I still had it or not! It's not been on my board for sometime. Rushed downstairs to check and to my relief, yes I've still got it! Was really worried for a few moments, Will be back on my board this morning :)
love the show by the way. x.
Look at his face:D Welcome in Mick's World! Love this video
Mick's playing has improved substantially! Awesome licks!
Awesome sounds! Thank you
Hello from the US (Central Daylight Time)! I just woke up to find this video in my queue and I’m enjoying it whilst eating my breakfast! Cheers, TPS gang!
Good day to you sir. A man should breakfast heartily.
Great show and epic description!
"There's nothing like a tube screamer!There's nothing like a tube screamer! "
Hahahhaa!!!!
Your intro-sessions are always great. Not only the sound...also the virtuosity! ...both of you!
That green strat you have Mick inspired me to put the same type of knobs on my strat. Love the vibe.
Blame John Mayer - it was his idea! They’re old Fender amp knobs. :0) Cheers!
I didn't realize it was a john mayer strat, until you said it in the video. I saw it on one of your old videos and hunted down what the knobs were. Bought them a few months ago. instagram.com/p/Bhe-CcIhEQH/?
Great to see your success and being able to add new gear. Happy for you guys. And we benefit too :)
I’ve been contemplating my first pedal to go with Marshall Origin 20 as my first tube amp. Thinking the Bonsai is the way forward!
Go for it! 👍
I’m really happy to hear that you guys like everything that Walrus Audio makes, a few years ago I started buying all their releases & have never been disappointed! Yes, I have tons of pedals from other manufacturers but Walrus is the company that has never disappointed.

Lovely to see the much-maligned TS10 had one for 30 years still on the board but wow I may just have to swap it for the side car what a sound
Great video as always! Love the SRV and JM licks!
Sold on the Warhorn!! Dan on the Tele, yeah man smoking tone!!!
really great show guys
This show always makes me want to go play guitar. 👍
Waiting on my 60s logo tee to come in the mail. Stoked. Good show, fellas.
Thank you for buying one! Keeps us making vids! /0)
I like every mode of the Bonsai better than the pedal is emulates. Just my taste. Hats off to JHS!
@fastguitar yes and it's great. Cheapet than a real ts10 and you wouldn't be able to tell then apart. All the patches are great copies but I love the ts10,MSL and ts9 best
Simon; well played sir, a dignified yet funny response. 😁
Everyone says that about the 808 and 10 too. I’ve got no more love to give. It’s all gone on that Collings. ;0)
..love Mick’s taste for strats..(..and playing isnt bad at all...haha..wonderful as always!...dan’s too;)
Btw..just got my Bonsai 2weeks ago...love it..not gonna use all 9 of them probably..but 5-6 most certainly...)
Thank you sir!
The Bonsai is really, really, really good. :0)
To hell with the screamers. That Sidecar, holy hell! 😳
Wow, you're 1K away from 150K subs - congrats in advance!!
Mick has been getting some practice in ;) killer licks and killer tone, well done boyos
I almost picked up a bonsai but instead got the new Mythos Herculean V2 & have no regrets because it is ace!! 👌
New strat, new amp. 2 minutes and I'm engaged. :)
This might not be a popular opinion, but I think the best sound of the whole video was the RYRA 808. It has a little more life and sparkle than the TS808 and even the JHS. Hooray. Please tell them that. :0)
Great episode guys. Absolute Blissful tones! Im going for either the Sidecar or Banzai when its my time for an overdrive
Friday night amps are humming in the background One bottle of Fine scotch whisky, my Gretsch in my hand and TPS loud as my monitors will go. Rest of the world can go-get for the next hour and a half. Thank the Gods for Guitar Dan, Mick and Simon

Holy crap, the Sidecar slays.
I bought a Bad Monkey to let my Lionheart L5T-112 sound a bit better at appartment volume. Did the job. ☺ After seeing this show i'm willing to upgrade!
I still can't get my head around Dan's tele - that thing pushes the amp like crazy .. always. Love it.
I’ve listened to constantly for nearly three years now. Mick here. It’s total anathema to me. Wonder if we could go to Fender and have them diagnose it?
Surreptitiously swap out the pups while he's down at the pub. That's a sentence I didn't think I'd ever say.
You think I leave my tele at home when I go down the pub? ;)
Ten seconds in and already it seems like Mick is in his happy place
excellent vid as usual guys for drool worthy pedals, thx guys for emptying my wallet once again. the sidecar is truly special.
