Duplicating your approaches has really elevated my painting. Thank you.
His speed painting is better than 99% of normal painted miniatures I have seen on UA-cam, Instagram, Discord.
🙌🙌🙌🙌🤤
Painting with an airbrush is not exactly speed painting. It is using an expensive tool and a different and equally artistic skill to achieve a different effect than you would with a bristle brush. If you don't have a dedicated hobby workshop, the setup and cleaning of a safe air brush booth will take you well over an hour, sometimes almost 2 full hours. The use of the term "speed painting" here is to get people to click in search of something they can do with their brushes or at least with reasonably accessible resources.
@@tylerdenneson7320 I'm not sure how airbrushing isn't by definition speed painting, unless you define painting as only with a paintbrush? Nothing about speed painting suggests accessibility, only how fast the results are regardless of method, and airbrushing is by far the fastest way to perform a lot of techniques. It's almost like saying oil washes and contrast paints aren't speed painting, because they aren't using standard acrylics?
I'm also very much confused at the 2 hour set-up and cleaning you suggest it requires for spray booth - as someone who has to do this, it's a 20 minute process max. You don't even require a booth to spray safely, only a mask, especially if you limit overspray. It's strange that you consider an airbrush to be inaccessible, given that a beginner set-up can comfortably cost less than £100, so less than most boxsets GW release nowadays.
@@NikkiAnnMarie can you send me a link for that air brush please?
@@NikkiAnnMarie also the reason I wouldn’t label it as speed painting is that you kind of specifically said during the video that you were using techniques that take LONGER. I was kind of actually quoting you in your own video so... let’s both chill out a bit.
@@NikkiAnnMarie finally, as far as the setup and take down, it sounds like you have a dedicated hobby area where you can leave most of your setup at the ready. I just have to completely disagree about that timing if you don’t have a dedicated workshop.
Exactly why you are my favourite miniature painting youtuber: Super-precise, technical language.
You had me at high value jumps for a dusty texture. It's awesome to learn from you!
Always a masterpiece of painting miniatures!
This gets me excited to paint. Every video you put out is amazing. My absolute favorite channel on any subject.
Thanks for helping me to improve !
So basically, the mini's were already tabletop quality or above on 14:38. Again Marco, thank you for all the (free!) information provided. This warband looks stunning!
i have to say that i love the fact that you show the models both in dark and light background. Sometimes i feel like some "pro painter" use dark background to make their models look better.
But when there is nothing to hide, like here, I find the ones over white more striking and clear to read.
This is the weirdest comment of all time lmfao
Great job, both in painting and teaching, as usual! 😁👍
Amazing as always, a couple of days ago i used some of the tricks you have been teaching us about oil paints to do some leather, the result ended up having a lot of texture, value variety and overall gave it a look im really proud. Thank you for sharing all your incredible knowledge.
Vince V: "I thin everything"
Marco: Laughs in Italian
Once again brilliant showcase of artistic knowledge and skill. Thanks Marco :)
ive watched this video at least 10000 times and i still pick up on something new each time. cant wait for my last batch of paints to get here so i can emulate this technique!
I'm in love with this method Marco. Vibrant, colourful and quick. Very clever. Years ago I used to do multiple washes over a light tone and then re-highlight, but for quite a while I've been painting with the classic 3-tone method which is probably much slower. Love the look of your minis.
So pumped for this!!
I learned a lot again from the video and chatting during premiere! Grazie mille! :D
Once again wonderful paintings. Can't wait to see the vampires
Grande Marco! Your videos are my painting Bible
SCIENCE! Love the matt varnish/oil tip there.
These videos are brutal. Amazing job
This is awesome work, I am really liking this oil based wash technique.
I'm so glad Miniac posted a link to your stuff. Amazing stuff and now I'll tell all my friends!!
Aha, having a go at Overlord Duncan with the riff about not falling into the trap of the perfect blends or the two thin coats, eh? ;) Kidding aside, for myself? I'm aiming for a rougher and more textured, "painterly" approach these days, with cross hatching and dots and such, and I'm finding that wet blending is working well for me in that realm. Mushing together all those colors on the surface of a miniature is appealing to me because it gets me what I'm seeing in my mind's eye far better than most any other approach right now.
very interesting use of oils as washes ! fantastic job as ever
Bravo Marco!
I find your voice and these videos super relaxing! Love how confidently you seem go just go for it and outcomes look great. Seems more of an artist's approach to painting and pleasure to watch
Marco, you are an absolute genius!
I'm amazed with the quality you achieve on these speed painting videos. It is awesome!
I hope you’ll paint the full box like this!!! This is epic!!!
Always amazing instruction, fantastic results in so little time. I absolutely must give oils a try! Thanks Marco.
Incredible series Marco, this are some of your best videos yet!
Thank you for the video. I think I'm going to try oil paints on my terrain project next week.
Amazing. Thank you so much for this. I'm so looking forward to trying this approach to painting my models.
love hearing your thoughts about each step. Would love a video about planning!
Excellent and fun to watch video, as always!
Amazing, as always. Thank you!
I was worried about doing the skin on these but you have made this look so simple, oils are just amazing thank you 👌
Very cool! I loved the multiple color oils : )
Your painting style is a true inspiration! Thanks
Awesome Job! I can´t wait to buy some oil paint
You make my day better Marco, Thank you!
Your last two videos made me taking notes. Great stuff!
I Really love you videos and find myself watching them over and over again. I have no idea how you are such a wizard with a brush, but its phenomenal and has really made me excited to try uncomfortable new things. Thank you for the content you produce!
Ho scoperto il tuo canale per caso... che dire... ti faccio i miei complimenti, sei bravissimo. Ho ripreso da pochissimo a dipingere miniature avvicinandomi pure al mondo delle stampe 3d in resina.
Amazing Marco!!!
Next time someone doubts the theory of the relativity of time, show them this video. It will become obvious that Marco's time operates on a different scale than for us mere mortals!
Another solid video and a joy to watch! Now I just need to get around to my Cursed City box LOL!!
Marco, thanks for this, it's helped me greatly in my work.
You have me completely convinced. Just bought my first oil paints!
Would love to work on getting quicker results and shrink the pile of shame
Brilliant Marco! Bravo. Perfect inspiration for me (I’m still mounting the minis and customise the bases). 👍
Great video! Right before GW releases separate skeleton and zombie kits! Can't wait to see how you'll approach vamp heroes.
Shots fired at two thin coats!!!
To be completely honest, I watch alot of miniature painting youtubers, and I feel your method is by far the best overall method I've seen. So much so I've now seen more "mainstream" refrence and try to recreate your method. Specifically Ninjon who's become more mainstream with shout outs and collabs with miniac.
Do you think you'll be doing any collaborations with other youtubers at all in the future?
really really niiiiiiiiiice dude!!!
Another great video! Thanks Marco!
so cool Marco! Its given me ideas for some old zombies I have around (no Cursed City for me sniff sniff)
Funny enough, I actually like the look of matte varnish over my recent marines at the end, in how it ties together colours together, and makes the highlights of the metal a little easier to see. But I don't use a super matte like AK Interactive. But then I may come back in with a little cheeky edge highlight though for the metals.... maybe
Lucio Fulci approves these zombies :D
Hello Marco!! Another excellent video :)
Fantastic video! I’m really looking forward to trying out the oil wash wet blending.
Geez so good
That, was a great "Hello guys!"
Great stuff friend 👏 👍
@16:33 OOOOohhhh! Shots fired!
I hate you and I love you... you make eerything look very easy hahaha. Congrats and thanks for sharing. Best mini painting channel in YT.... cheers from Chile!
I think you’re going to get me to pick up a brush after 18 months! Epic.
This absolutely the best result I could have hoped for!!! 😁😍😍
Good day! Love the options for the oil paints. If you were to recommend a basic set of oil paints, which would that be? Have some basic Windsor and Newton (Winton) but wouldn't mind a dedicated set to prepare the most common washes. Keep those videos coming!
I love it!
Love the work
Whoot! Hello Marco!
Metto il like, dico che è spettacolare e che sei il fenomeno di cui l'Irlanda aveva bisogno. Poi guardo il video... Tanto va a finire così: sarà come al solito fantastico. Grazie per quello che condividi, The Italian Stallion of Miniature Painting.
Hahahah troppo buono 😊!!! Grazie mille mille mille mille mille mille mille!!!
Wawaweewa very nice
Nice!
Wow, those miniatures just get better and better with every step , pure class as always, any chance you can do a scheme for genestealer pure strains, I've a shed load to paint for my spacehulk game😁 cheers bud.
I can't stand those models that have their grave plot and tombstone welded to their spines like a ridiculous unbalancing fin. That said the process is again wonderful and the zombie skin has a ton of interest and complexity. Perfect to apply to the many and varied piles of undead and suppurating plastic I have leering from boxes and drawers. Oils are so ideal for such a wild and reckless blending of tones, I always struggle to control them on the tiny details of 28mm musculature, it'll be such a joy to abandon controlled transitions for the wild mottling and corruption Marco gets from the base sketch modulated by the residue of that chaotic oil layer after Qtips have done their work. I've got so many models that will take this wild ride, from undersea horrors, through vampire thralls, zombies, and alien nasties, Marco, the gifter that keeps on giving... Plus have to say that painting these and those skeletons both in one day is an obscene display of what conception, planning and brushwork all working together actually can achieve. Lastly, and never leastly, he works such textural magic with thicker bodied paint and that beautiful brushwork, I just love to watch it developing into absolute splendour on each and every model.
I thought the same about their design then I noticed that the pole that supports the tombstone is a big stake piercing their chest; I love the storytelling contained in this detail and how it fits the setting of the game! An entire horde of zombies with a tombstone on the back is for sure a bit too uniform and implausible but few of them here and there can add some flavour
Hello Marco. Any chance that in the future you will release video about painting Salamander Space marine? Something unique like grim darkish fiery grean guy? I really liked your space marine paining series and oil painting tutorials. Lately encouraged by you I started experimenting with oils and I'm amazed by possibilities and effects you can achieve with those paints. Thank you so much for all your hard work and awesome videos :)
Hi Marco. I am coming back to the hoby thanks to you and have been following your guides and have alot of fun with it.
However, I cant find the grass you use for the bases. Care to share what grass it is? 😊
Well done Marco, and just as a possible thing to ask for in that potential varnish video. Can you show us the liquid consistency in your airbrush for each type? It's the one thing that I always mess up. It's either too thinned down or so thick it clogs my airbrush in about 6 seconds.
Inspired!!
Hi! I immediately ordered the cursed city after seeing your first video. Are you going to make a high quality speed painting tutorial for all of the models? Including the heroes? Thanks for the amazing work thusfar. Im an experienced painter but it takes too much time to reach the level of perfection I want.
Hi Marco, amazing videos, I learned quite a lot from you . I recently started to see the Thousand Sons models from warhammer 40k and I have seen some amazing paint jobs, and made me curious how would Marco do it. Would be amazing to see your unique approach on them.
I really like how you paint the mignature, I would like to see a video of you where you paint the miniatures of the game Descent second edition thanks.
Hi Marco,another great video !
About the Molotov acrylics, can i used the Vallejo/AK interactive thinner for airbrush for them too ?
And is there a metallic ball into the Molotov bottle ?
Please let me know,thanks a lot !
I did not really like the sculptures of these models themselves, but the painting is as always fast and stunning!! I'm really looking forward to the video about vampires😎 It's a pity that the boxes of the Cursed City are not enough for everyone, it's good that you have it. Thank you for the content 👍 👍 👍 👍
I love your process so much! Is there any chance you can do something like this for a whole Action Pack of Infinity? Saw your process for the single O12 Delta, but would love to see how you approach batch-painting Infinity - and if you can do it in under 4 hours as well ;)
Hi Marco, great video as always! Question: how do you clean up after a session with oils? Disposing of all the waste is always the biggest hurdle for me with them. As far as I'm aware it's not a good idea to just rinse then down the sink, especially with all the white spirit involved in oil washes
e già dall'anteprima sono stupendi
Just amazing, you have convinced me to try out oilpaints. Its just so good! :D
When using mineral spirit is there any particular brand or can you use any kind?
Love these vids man I live in limerick so maybe one day we will come across each other
Hi Marco!
Your work is amazing!
Do you mind if I ask what static grass you use on your undead?
I want to go for an autumnal theme and the grass you use is perfect
awesome video ! do you have a recommendation for a cyan and a magenta for CMY mixing that is from one of the more popular paint brands ? (Vallejo, AK and Scale75 for me) I cant get hold of the Kimera Colors sadly
I'm just curious, how long do you take to prep the models from sprue to ready-to-paint? Between mould line removal and gap-filling, it's not uncommon for me to spend hours on the prep-work alone, let alone getting any decent amount of paint on them.
master
Once again a master piece Marco! You make it seem to easy, and you are probably the best paint sales person in the world with your knowledge! Just a quick question, how do you prevent the molotow from rubbing off? Is it a case of really just shaking the bottle real good and have it mix properly and without diluting it?
Hahaha thanks!!! Yep, you need to shake the tubes really really really well; the paint components tend to separate but because of the high concentration of pigments the watery part on top seems like the real colour and it can even express a similar opacity but without the real grab and resistance of the full mix
Miniac sent me, here's a sub.
😍😍😍
Excellent video. Do you ever use Ak Interactive products? I was thinking about streaking grime or other effects that are useful in the speed painting game.
This is awesome. Just a quick question how do you select what color oil paint to use on certain parts. Cheers.
Sure, thanks
Which video of yours would you recommend the most to someone for learning proper basics and foundations, this is great but seems very advanced
They look great. Do you clean the airbrush between colours or were you just emptying and whacking the next high flow in the hopper?
Thanks! I quickly clean the airbrush only when the colours are very different like jumping from blue to yellow fo example
Marco, you glorious genius. What cotton buds do you use? I seem to leave lots of fibres on my minis but I find sponges take too much paint off. Just wondering if you had a go to brand.
I’ve been experimenting with some of the things I’ve picked up from your videos (amazing videos) you have mentioned a number of times having cool shadows with warm highlights or warm shadows with cool highlights. Dose this mean you need to keep this across the whole model and if so how do you handle colours with high contrast. say a cool black with aqua blue highlights but with a red contrast. How would you do a cool highlight on a warm colour like red without it becoming purple. Or does the rule apply to only the part your painting so the armour would have cool highlights but the cloth reds would have warm highlights? Sorry if that’s confusing hope the question makes sense
Hi Marco, if I had to choose between Scalecolor Artist and Kimera set. What should I pick. Best regards,
