Marco and James Wappel are my favorite painters right now, and both do great things combining oils with transparent acrylics etc. I'd love to see Marco discuss or critique James's techniques and vice versa.
Marco! Such an inspiration. I just finished (for battle ready+ standard, but more to come) an army of harlequins following everything I could remember from watching your work. Not quite ‘13 models on 4hrs’, but a 1250pt army in a week of ‘hobby’ time. This is long for a youtube comment, but hopefully you read this part; you make me feel energised and empowered in my painting. Really, really(!!) you are a phenomenal teacher. Thank you!
I love the moment when he whips out the oils and turns a great paint job into a masterful one. Also, only 4 hours for ALL of this? God daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn Marco!
The time you need to paint these guys really is insane! But even if I can’t be that fast, your methods are amazing! Thank you for sharing and thank you for getting me hooked on oils!
@@stefanholgersson4282 Would love to see that! Marco's take on using the D's to drybrush a Stormcast and Byron using airbrushing/contrast and oils to paint a Kruleboy. Would be a sweet crossover.
I love how straight forward this process was. It’s simple steps and they came out fantastic! I will now go try it and realize it looks easy but takes skill lol!
This is the most inspirational channel about painting on UA-cam right now. Tabletop Minions gets me through a project, but this channel makes me excited about a project.
Your videos always have so much energy in them. I appreciate how excited you are for the painting, and it helps encourage me to tackle projects sooner rather than later. Great vid!
4 hours is just crazy for that result. You have really shown me the way forward with oils especially, your videos have been very useful is trying to learn the medium, so thanks a lot for being awesome.
So perfectly timed. Just started my vacation and have two boxes of Dominion to paint up. I wanted to start with the Orks first and try my hand at some oil paints. Can't wait to get to it.
Thanks for this again Marco. Especially identifying green gold for a colour blind painter like me. I learned a lot about ambiguous colours and how they can be used.
Great stuff! Nice video! The end product is so vibrant and looks so detailed! I loved seeing the blends on the skin and leather highlights, really makes the oils work look accessible!
Hahaha I thought for a moment Marco said he painted 13 GOB DROPPING mini's in 4 hrs (just over)....... Oh sheeeeeeeeeeeet ... he did !!! absolutely superb. Loads of useful stuff in this content. Thanks.
Marco! I've seen all of your youtube videos and this is one of my favorites! I thought you were done after the acrylic "wash", but then you whipped out your signature oil wash stage and made them orks look legendary! Great, as always! Please do an IG squad and make them look not boring. lol.
This video is excellent, thanks! It’s the first time that I’ve watched your channel and I was initially worried that you were the stereotypical “yelling UA-camr” but I very quickly realised that you’re genuinely and delightfully enthusiastic and it’s great!
nothing to add here.... great again in editing, entertaining and informative! just had to feed the algorythm..... maybe a quick side node as i follow your lessons since the beginning. its wonderfull to realise that more and more pieces of the puzzle fall into place and i am getting a sense of the magic you are sharing every week. keep up the stunning work. and thanks alot!
This might be the first time I've heard anyone say something positive about the S75 instant colors. Your application of them looked great, so now I might have to pick up a few colors...
Hey Marco, I just tried oil for the first time on the Kruleboyz thanks to you and it is a pleasure to try, and also I love the result. :). I would also love to see you try painting "lighter things" like Lumineth with a technique like that :) .
I will get the Dominion box in October for my birthday. I was mainly interested in the Stormcasts, but as I saw these videos and as it's Orctober, I guess I will start with the Kruleboyz using your colour scheme to get in touch with some new techniques :D
I'm planning the army to be full of different skin tones working on single units and then mixing them together and grey/albino skins are on top of the list! I want my boss to be like Azog from The Hobbit movies ;)
Truly inspiring work, has given me the enthusiasm to start painting again after a 15 year break. Is there any chance that you put in your comments what paints and colours you use please? Keep up the amazing work.
Hi Marco! I have to say your method really does produce beautiful results. I’m a beginner painter and I’m really learning a lot! One thing that I would love to add to my tool kit is oil washes but I am hesitant because I’ve heard they need to be disposed of in certain ways. Could you maybe do a video about all of the “meta” aspects of oil painting? What does your cleanup process and disposal look like? Thanks!
I just noted that Marco has a Oil Painting video for beginners. I watched that and it really helped me understand his process in this video and he does cover some aspects of cleanup/maintenance.
Quite interesting to see positive review of the Scale Instant Colors. Mostly I’ve seen neutral or negative reactions (I found them sorta watery/blotchy?). Might try them again.
Amazing vid as always, I wish I could paint to that standard after 20hrs nevermind 4 lol. Being quite new to the hobby I've always been a little nervous about using oil paints, but after seeing this I'm seriously considering it, the suttle blends and tones you get really push those models further
It takes a little getting used to and an investment into the paints, but I will never look back. I started 6 months afo with a brown (burnt umber/sienna), black, magenta, and green and just added anoil wash step. I now have almost a full set of oils and really enjoy using them for all sorts of applications!!
I love this so, so much, and your results are amazing once again. Also, this gave me so much new input to ponder for my future projects. You're simply an endless well of inspiration!
I want to start using oil paints and an airbrush and this video only enthused me!!! Looks like I have a scheme for the models I was going to split but now keeping!! Love your videoa
Hi Marco ! Looks great, as always ! I would be very curious to see how you would apply your techniques to something with a cleaner look, less grimdark like lumineth elves … I am painting some now and I would love to understand the shortcuts that are available to me as it’s taking me forever to paint them… thanks !
I feel like a very "Marco" approach would have been to push the skin shadows either cold or warm using Turquoise or Magenta. @Marco any insight as to why sticking with a dark green for shadows was the call made for these models?
Me: I don't need any new paints this month.
Marco: HELLO GUYS!
Me: Guess I'll buy.
lol, I fear it's one of those videos
Haha. I just put the Scale instants on my list….
In exactly the same boat, hello scale 75, have some money
Haha. Same here, just bought a bunch a GW Contrast paints and now we are switching to Instants!? Ok, if Marco says so. ;)
@@martinschubert5935 hahahah Contrast are still valid but only if you need an instant punch of powerful colour
