Thank you for keeping up with the oils, they really are my preferred medium now because of your work. Question wrt Metallic paints and preferred brands as the variance seems huge. Gamblin silver is amazing and its almost liquid metal in its consistency, but Gamblin gold has pigment you can see from space. I'm having decent results with mixing my own with the GSW pigments but wondering what your preferred brands are.

Would you consider doing a video in this style for terrain pieces? This shit lit!
I think instead of buying 150 bottles of paint and continuing to be ignorant of the deeper intricacies of color, im going to try to learn using this palette, maybe without the green and blue to start.
I dont know if you read these comments since the video is so old, but if you (or anyone else) is reading this, would you recommend pre-making mixed colors in empty bottles, or just use raw amounts from the beginning and learning as you go?

If you are working on big projects, like an entire army for example, premixing the key tones is a great idea that increases your efficiency and general coherence exponentially! What if you prime the model and then fill in the metalic parts with shiny acrylics (dries fast) before you create the first oil layer? Oils are often very transparent (have learned that, the hard way xD) so you should be able to see the original silver but you can then add a variation of darker and brighter blue to really bring it to life. Or maybe red/brown on some gold or bronze?

Questions: For the metalics, do you also mix them with oils to do the highlighting? Okay. I've seen a lot of your videos talking about how great oils are, but this is the first time I've ever actually been convinced to try them myself. Specifically, around the 5 minute mark where you're cleaning up the base layer looks absolutely amazing already and could honestly be the end of the paint job for a comic book look. One question though: doesn't undiluted oil paint take forever to dry? I've heard it can stay workable for upwards of a week.

So question?? For acrylic paints a usually use vallejo line. Is there any reason I should change to what you suggest. I dont mind changing it just wanted to know if there was a difference. Also please keep up the good work. You are a massive inspiration for me too keep painting!

Would be interesting to see a comparison between 30€ per set paints and the 30€ per tube paints used in this video! 😂

During the section with the colour wheel just move the shape over to the range of tones you want to use and work from there. :)

@marcofrisoniNJM Do you worry about the cadmium in the red, and other heavy metals used in some colours? (cobalt, lead etc) appreciate don't lick your brush with this stuff, but what about skin contact when gaming with them? These kind of paints being meant for canvas, and not to be touched after the work is finished.

I was wondering what metallic paints you used while working with oil paints? I haven't been able to source a set I really like.

Great video as always, can't wait for your next video, I'm always motivated to try new things when I see one.
This isn't related to this video, but I'm thinking about getting myself a blue and a red primer from Vallejo to mix purple and magenta primers (unfortunately I just found those in cans which I try to avoid now that I have an airbrush) to use as a base for a zenithal white highlight pre-shade. As you showed more than once in your videos purple and magenta are a better base than black for shadows when using certain contrast or other transparent colors. It feels a little like wasting color and time when priming black, highlighting white and then shadowing with purple when I could do this in two layers instead of three. What do you and all other painters think?

Oh yeah absolutely! All the paints I'm using here are classic oils for canvas from the art store 😉

@@MarcoFrisoniNJM Could I paint base colours with acrylic paint, varnish seal the model and then do the oil wash that you did for these models as highlights? I want to try it on Daemonettes from War Hammer, and if it goes well I'll do it to a Keeper of Secrets model too
