love these vids man one easy thing to improve is the light flickering, for example at 8:10 but it runs through the whole video. there should be a setting in your camera app that's called "Anti Banding" or something similar. Setting this to 50hz, as you are located in Norway, should fix the flickering keep it up man
Hey next time do a leak down test because you can use the results of the test to figure out what is wrong with the engine. During the test, If you hear air moving down by the bottom of the engine, you have bad piston rings. If you hear air coming out of the exsaust, you will have bad exsaust valves. If you hear air moving through the cylinder head, you have bad intake valves, or bad valve stem seals. Also two cylinders that are next to each other have low compression, you have a bad head gasket. Hope this helps!
VW/Audi EA888 gen3 engines, before 2015 did the same thing to the rocker arms. Chain would stretch, intake cam would jump time, bend all 8 intake valves and break all 8 rocker arms. The replacement rockers are the larger ones from the gen 1 and 2 engines.
Just feeling if the head has scratches or is bent with your finger is not a great way to check right? I saw people in videos use a long straight bar across the head and then look for gaps between the long bar and head to see if it is warped/bent
If you want to reduce the flickering in the videos, take the whole video while editing, clone the footage into a second timeline, offset the cloned video by 1 frame and set the opacity to 50%!
Subscribed on first video, now like and share every new video :) Keep it filming, keep it wrenching, you can also do selling projects to make some more money to get more content for yt :)
Yeah i would of done it, but the previous owner replaced the chain at the workshop like 5k km before the engine failure, so that’s why I don’t waste any money and just kept the same one (i had domumentation from the workshop)
Great video. The cause is most likely timing chain failure, the more modern german cars engineer their engines in a way in which when chain fails/snaps the force goes upwards causing the tappets, lobes etc to break rather than damage to the pistons/valves In most cases it works but like i found out last week on a mercedes 2018 E220… tried to save the customer some money as i seen his broken tappets and rocker arms, usually replace it all and time the engine and thats it, we try keep our customers costs to the minimum so foolishly told him the bottom end was okay… long story short the car started with a misfire cylinder 4, turns out one piston had damaged the valves in cyl4.
As i may have mentioned, in most cases you just need to rebuilt the top end, rocker arms etc… however in some certain cases ( which i personally believe ) if the chain snaps at high speed like the E220 I did, the damage does go the bottom end too. ( thankfully it was only 1 cylinder, 4 damaged valves needed replacing and just some simple machining. The engineering idea is great, id much rather repair the top end of an engine than the bottom
Love the video. How much did you pay for such a low mileage example if you don't mind me asking. As a fellow N43 owner(320i e90lci) this engine runs absolutely beautifully when running properly, the key thing to it is maintenance, maintenance and maintenance.
The flicker on the camera is because the frequency of the camera is different to the lighting in the room, worth checking your settings in the camera, some cameras just have a lighting type setting (outdoors, indoors or incandescent, fluorescent....).
This video was a while ago, n43 doesn’t have a problem with rod bearings, but it does often have a problem with oil pressure, which then causes the spun bearings etc.
@@EMSGARAGEE61 Yeah, I noticed only after commenting when this video was published 😅 glad to see that someone is giving these bimmers a second chance at life 👏

91,000 k is around 56,000 miles which means within 4,000 miles ( 6.400 k ) it will be at the end of its life. I don't know why americans and some Europeans think that 100,000 miles is average milage, it's not, 60,000 miles is end of life for a car, especially modern cars.
got 105000km on n13 and its not even leaking or anything, it will last 250000 as my profesional mechanic with bmw only workplace told me, its like new. i had to replace other stuff, suspensions and arms, silentbloks etc. problem with these cars is if you dont do proper maintenance, then you kill it, do it at max 10k, its 2013 model. edit- its german made for germany
I understand your opinion, but here in Europe we have completely different view on cars, these cars easily last 250k km, and specially in Eastern Europe most of bmw’s hold up to 400k km and people are still buying them
@@EMSGARAGEE61 I am from Europe !! And no, they don't generally last beyond 100,000 miles, and usually give trouble after 60.000 miles which is why customers who buy new cars trade them in at or before 60,000 miles. Given that mechanics regularly replace entire transmissions and engines at 30,000 miles, it's clear you have no idea. It is well known in the trade that 60,000 miles is end of reliability generally speaking, and unreliable cars like BMW's, Audi's and VW's are the worst, blowing black smoke well before then. Mechanics see the reality, loyal fanboys defend their bad choices until they wake up.

@@EMSGARAGEE61 true, for the german market it certainly is better car, alot of people arround germany buys these at 120k, czechia or poland is full of these and its all good cars and if maintained, reliable.. also parts are not the most cheap but still its different story then uk or usa or god help them, japan/china but on the other hand, if you can afford m5 in japan then you can afford parts.

Okay, I see that you are a newbie UA-camr, the video is cool and interesting but the intro could be improved a little. You stood, walked around, sat on the hood of a black BMW, sat on the saddle of a motorcycle, did some boxing, ok super, but why didn't you sit on the floor, lie on the roof of a white BMW, stand on your hands on the gas tank of a motorcycle, lie under a black BMW, sit on the splits in a white BMW so that one leg was sticking out of the front left window and one leg out of the back right???

what does being in norway have to do?
The 50Hz electrical system common in Europe causes lights to flicker when the cameras are set to record in 60Hz (60 FPS).
