Susan Nardone BS. This was composed by some random sound engineer just to accompany the clip and his improvisation became this. At the time no talented makers of music for tv or commercials existed so they simply used tunes composed by real artists. OR if they couldn't afford them... you got this. The 70's was an era in which cost-cutting and cost-saving was implemented in virtually all aspects of life so a lot of things were made on the cheap and people didn't really expect much more either.
Hello i used to have a Saab 99 exactly the same color shown in the video. And since then i went to a 80s 900, then to a 9000. All very good strong cars.
God damn that bumper saved my 9-3 two times from bad scratches this summer. The other cars on the other hand, well let's just say it didn't come cheap for em' ;)
i miss my saab, but i thank it for saving me from the drunk driver who hit me doing 60 miles per hour, through a stop sigh, and hitting my back door on the driver side... dented the back door and bent the rear axle, the door still worked to open and close properly , gave me whiplash, but if it was an american made , i might not be here... that car was the best ever
Well, healthcare is free in Sweden. I'm joking, but this is a Saab ad. It only talks about the repair costs. Not a word about whiplash. In the case of the Saab, the repairs after this crash is a small fraction of that of the Rekord and it says "you can fix it yourself."
Whiplash seriously? I went down a ditch head on in a Saab 9000 cd in 25-30 km/h. A tractor pulled me out and i drove away without a scratch. Nothing on the car either. So 7km/h in a 99 won’t do nothing to you if you’re healthy.
some one could drive into you on a parking or you could fail to stop at low speeds on ice, plus you could push your or other cars with another if it wouldn't start. xD
The previous owner of my 2007 SAAB 9 3 hit the front end four times, probably in a garage. After I purchased the car I got a Salvage Title six months later from Virginia. But, I do have three brand new front plate frames!
Alessio S no watch the test bumper on modern cars rhere is no damages at all its acts like rubber, and let me tell you, if that Saab or Opel gonna meet the smal overlap test at 64 kmh they would smashed till the back seats the modern cars only till the B Pillar
Wow, they don't make cars like they used to, today's plastic washing up bowls have no bumpers at all. Modern cars allegedly have impact absorption & crumple zones, but look at the squashed up tin cans you see in RTAs! My parents had a red Saab99 hatchback, it towed the caravan, sat 4 squabbling kids in the back. People said it looked like a frog, but we thought it stood out, my Dad called it "quietly superior". I owned a Saab99 saloon in 1995, sadly it kept overheating, oh well....
sounds like you had a issue with its radiator might been clogged with dirt, unless it was the 1.7 with was not great engine (triumph) many replaced it for the 2.0 saab engine and they ran forever.
I don't think a crash this slow says much for safety, more how easy it will be to fix them again. Even the normal safety test are often too slow, 35mph really is not fast enough considering most people are doing 60, at least, on the highway. Sorry if I am using mph, America is stubborn and hasn't started teaching the metric system yet.
It says quite much if you can have a small fenderbender and not have to replace the whole frontend. A car is no good at 60mph if it cannot stand a 7 kmh bump into a signpost. Because you wont have a car then, because it'll be in the workshop.
pioneerz450 Well yeah, most modern car's bumpers are only rated at 5mph, which is really dumb. Someone rear ended my Grandpa's 1985 Volvo 740 doing about 10 or 15 and we just drove away. His modern Volvo got rear ended and pushed into another car and despite there being very little visible damage it somehow bent the frame! I'm all for crumple zones, but a bumper being pushed inward less then an inch should not cause $5000 in damage! I wasn't saying this test doesn't say much just that it doesn't show much for the safty of the car.
Well, america as most of it's mongrelled population is just DUMB,starting with the damned jewish owned politicians. Still,it's nice to see CRETIN americans doing 80km/h in a 50km/h zones,as they think the 50 are miles :)) The conversion is preety easy : 1 km = 0,6 miles or 0,62 (in some it's 0,63) to be exact and 1 mile = 1.6 km 1 m = 3 feet, or 1,1 yard (the 2 are mostly use interchangeably in every day use) 1 inch = 1 german tzol = 2.5 cm (in Kingdom of Romania they use german tzol when talking about pipeing) 1 Pound/LBS = 0.45 Kg 1 Metric Ton = 1000 kg = Roughly 1000 Liters And that's kind of it.Anyhow, damned america doesn't have it much longer anyhow, and you'll soon start to learn it. Just as weird is that Australians, drive on the Left like Brits and Chinesse, but use Km/h,while the Canadians drive on the right and use miles :) . Ths 2 got a bit of Brit and a bit of Metric in them :)
That's the point, the ad shows the bumper working in situations of small bumps. The ad shows the prices of fixing the damages, the Opel being very expensive and the Saab saying "New cosmetic list 16kr, you're able to fix it yourself". "There's just one car with a bump-catching bumper"
@ Oh I get that (see my later replies), it is kinda something modern cars have lost. The plastic bumper cover is so integrated into the front of most modern cars a 5 mph bump ends up bending the fenders, hood, and often breaking the headlight mounts! It is rediculas!
MrMarty77 dude thats like 5mph the only way that crash would kill you would be if you were a pedestrian in between the car and the obstacle when it hit in that case the car that didnt crumple would save your life you would lose a leg vs having massive internal injuries when the opel crumpled up into your body
The work of the sound editor is the reason for which the electric chair has been invented...
...and possibly why Saab ultimately failed...
Someone shoot the sound editor please.
No... That's far too kind. Do him/her slowly.... Take a few months...
Judd Kramer sure why not? XD
Judd Kramer this music like nitendo games 😂😂
You try mixing sound while on LSD.
Exactly. Just because a musician has all the notes, doesn't mean he should play them all.
Those days when the front bumper was more important than pedestrian safety...
Pedestrian safety is looking left and right befor juming in front of the car. Very simple and cheep
@@karolregulski777 I did that and I STILL got run over by stopped cars. This is why I walk behind them because everyone is a psychopath.
Also, if you don´t run over pedestrians they are quite safe.
that music, like atari effing Nintendo
yeah sounds like super mario or pokemon xD
schwartz wolfe BECAUSE THATS WHAT IT IS THATS MID 70/80S MUSIC LOL XD

@@TheOzthewiz indeed..that's why my SAAB 900 sedan was 1989..light pressure turbo. 150 hp. It ran nice

swear, my dad owns a Saab 900 one of the last convertible models to be shipped to the US and it's a tank, a really fast tank
Just take a look at the head of the driver. In the Rekord it looks much smoother and healthier.
Better have a broken Front end, than physically pain

Crash test with alive human inside. That's what i like
If he dies its a fail
I see this was at a time when CrashDummy was a job title...?
Role reversal. The musician was at the wheel while the crash dummy was playing the music!
Great video. The music sounds like Raymond Scott on acid! :D
came in for the film, upvoted for the music.
My grandpa once told he used to push the heavy metallic gate in their front yard open with his 99 back in the 70's when leaving to work in the morning
Saab, always BEST AT EVERYTHING.Also look for the test where they fell on they roofs.
best at everything?? oof having owned a saab i cannot agree with that. i’m more of a japanese car guy anyways
try to change EGR on those cars!!then come back and we talk!😁😁
@@harrisonbrand8985 even the Japanese likes Saab LOL
Should'nt they find out how much the cost will be if the opel rekord ran over the sound editor?
I love my Saab C900 S cabriolet! especially since it is the best car I bought that cost under $1,000!!!
These cars are amazing in snow. The bottoms are like a boat so they glide over snow like a sled.
the music aged wonderfully imo
Fucking hell, that music
Sounds like a bad psychedelic trip!
Swedish ikea music inclusive
Old school vaporwave music
koms from ikea furniture
There is no crash safety shown, this is about the cost savings from minor bumps if you have energy absorbing bumpers.
The thing about this ad is that the music sounded like this,,,,,in 1972. They had bad techno long before 90's club kids picked it up.
Awesome music!
Imagine hearing this song at 3 AM!
did it last night, it really felt like boards of canada, respect to SAAB.
Inside the black rubber cover of the bumper is a white plastic honeycomb structure which deforms to absorb minor impacts.
Wow crash test with 5 mph ... -.-
I think the idea was to show how the car would cope at low speed knocks, say on car parks etc.
some one could drive into you on a parking or you could fail to stop at low speeds on ice,
plus you could push your or other cars with another if it wouldn't start. xD
Here in RSA we had the Opel marketed under the Chevrolet banner, with a genuine 4.1 in-line 6.Of course that was 1974-78.
Intense music! Sound alot like some sort of Bitmusic for a NES or something ;)
Oh btw. Love Saab, especually the 99. Turbo though.
It looks like there was a third car crash tested in the ad. I wonder if it was the Volvo 144?
Yes, it was.
Where?
It's like boop oops sorry I hit you in my. SAAB! Other person be like I drive an. OPEL!
Love the music, to coool!!!
SAFETY the Saab way
The previous owner of my 2007 SAAB 9 3 hit the front end four times, probably in a garage. After I purchased the car I got a Salvage Title six months later from Virginia. But, I do have three brand new front plate frames!
should do same test with bumperless modern cars.... direct 2000 euro damage

Didn't Volvo have shock absorption bumpers too. With shocks built inside the bumper
Yep, the sweeds was thinking outside the box already way back then.
And this is why we have mandatory 5 mph bumpers in the United States . . . .
Opel Rekord is nicer :-)
Ye it looks awesome :)
opel rekord is a piece of shit
ыгы
And a few years later, Saab was using opel technology because they would be dead. And yes they are now
They still overengineered the Opels in to much better cars. That's why they lost money on everything, they don't cut corners.
The "music", if you could call it that, is proper nightmare fuel.
That's exactly how Jeremy and James crash tested Chinese cars
Funny thing is, the 99 looks pretty nice without those praised bumbers!
Lots of classic cars look better without their bumpers
ringtone!
Is this Switched on Bach by Wendy Carlos ?
kraftwerk meets prog rock.
Please make this music 10 hour :)
Dawm i like the music
So if we put a Saab bumper on an Opel Rekord what might be the outcome then ?
Whole car, not just bumper required
Saab won
The last sound sounded like Spider-Man’s theme song.
Shut up and take my money! where can i hear more of this msic..
Not crash test - it's collision test.
nice video
To any Saab 99 owner: Don't try this at 10 k/h
I knocked a concrete lamppost clean over with the rear bumper of my Saab 9-5 estate....just left a little scratch.

Music?.
Today there are no bumpers, only SOFT TOUCH COVERS 'cause many cost for paint job👎
The song is so creepy
Saab 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆
Saab 99 MK1 was so good under every single aspect...!
No need a crash test with very low speed! Nobody's gonna be hurt, let alone dead!
And?
The point is testing repairs costs for small knocks.
Like for example on a parking lot.
It's a bumper demo not a crash test
25-30 km/h ?
It'd a demonstration of the bumper saving the car from damage by other cars, not overall safety which was also probably the best in the world.
SAAB❤
Saab👌👌👌 the best
The Music look Scary and Creepy
Impressive.
Knautschzone beim Saab: 0

0:32 SAAB LOOKS SO CREPPY 😣
The sounds are absolutely awful! It's not music, it's noises
So the Opel will absorb the force and save your life while the Saab will smash your head into the steering wheel and kill you? :D
Kill you at 7 km/h? lol
Don't you wear a seatbelt MrMarty77?
Ah but after you've been killed you can pay just $5 for repairs!
MrMarty77
dude thats like 5mph
the only way that crash would kill you would be if you were a pedestrian in between the car and the obstacle when it hit
in that case the car that didnt crumple would save your life you would lose a leg vs having massive internal injuries when the opel crumpled up into your body
nope, the fender will absorb better protecting the hood and head light
The cars drive with like 2 km/h
7
Is that real driver?
Yes, speed is 10kmh
👍👍👍👍200 kmh
😆😆😆😆 .05 km / hr
Oh and don't forget Saab is same company as GMC anyway
