As I watched the video of you & Nick putting bags on shelf I thought Noooo!! Sold sign means nothing to some people. Absolute no no. I'm not a reseller I'm a bargain hunter I search out food reductions in shops & have learned never to leave your pickings as someone will root through & take your stuff. Enjoyed as usual Andrea. Your voice is so relaxing love you & Nick . Hope Xmas meet up is fabulous it's on my birthday Jan 13th hope you post footage. Merry Christmas & prosperous New Year to you Nick & Ellen X
When you left the bag I was thinking ' oh no'! If the bag had sold on it the person who took the jug wouldn't know that you hadn't paid. It was totally out of order. I love the warmer btw 😍
In one charity shop I visit I noticed something I had looked at previously on the ‘reserved’ shelf near the till, looking closer someone had switched the price tag to a lower one, jeez how low can you go I thought and gave it to the cashier and told them to watch to see who claimed it but they weren’t brave enough to, some people…..
Loved the warmer, known as a 'crumpet plate' in my family and also the funny rabbit money box! Moral compasses and bargain hunters or resellers is quite a conversation to start !!! I try and arrive early to events, but in the previously, have had others march straight past me and ignore the start time for events eg, village jumble trails. I think that is rude, but confess that so many others behave this way, that now I do, too?! My worst experience was when the Charity shops were opening up after Lockdown, but customers still had to keep 2 metres apart. It was the first Saturday after Halloween and I found a pile of boxes of Christmas ornaments that had just been put out. As money was tight, I wanted to be sure only to buy what I needed (and it was for me not for resale) so I looked through each box and placed on a table touching me, the ones that I wanted to keep. There was plenty of space, but another lady picked up 'my' box of vintage German carved figures and gave it to the staff at the till to 'look after' ?! The only way she could have reached them was to deliberately break the 2m rule ...... and, I was just too polite to complain. I so wish I had.
I have never seen a warmer like that before! Fascinating ! Practical AND decorative! BTW. Its not fair game. I hate the thought of anyone pinching your jugs.
Also, maybe a slim shopping trolley on wheels would be useful in a big event like this one (even though I have tripped up a few people in the past with mine lol)
Now that i work in a charity shop and i know the amount of daily thefts we have, i am fully aware that no-one has a moral compass. I challenged someone this week who was stealing and their reasoning was "oh im sorry, ive just got here from Nigeria!"
That gin bottle is gorgeous I like how the top is a measure as well. I would of bought for my sister in law as she writes a gin blog but being Xmas I have very little money. I bought a gin bottle before from you for her collection and she loved it. That’s awful about stuff been taken it doesn’t surprise me in this day and age but so wrong xx
How do you manage to pack breakables safely for the post? I'm always worried about that as I have had a few breakages due to them being roughly handled!! I really love the blue and white. I've inherited quite a lot from my mum who's been collecting a life time 😊
Nic individually bubble wraps each item and then wraps them in card. Then he ‘floats’ it in a box full of void fill so if the postman drops it or knocks it around there is some space around it/them to take the impact.
The fact they had been obviously rummaging rather than just saw the vase spilling out is totally wrong. If I saw 'sold' on a pile of stuff I would move on and avoid the pile. On a happier note I really loved the owl mug you found and the blue and white rabbit both of which I would keep.
I saw on one of your videos you and Nick leaving a pile of stuff at the side (not sure if it was at the sale you mentioned here) and I thought you were very trusting as I would never have done it! That’s not to say anyone had the right to take your stuff however, and how annoying 😢 My favourite was the blue and white bunny too.
I should have listed to that voice in my head that was telling me we shouldn’t have left them there, but the lady was adamant it was ok. Anyway we’ve been a couple of times since and we know exactly where to leave the bags now. Thankfully we haven’t had the same problem since.
I'm devastated for you, I'd be furious too, sorry that this happened! A similar thing happened to me at the weekend, I'd popped this gorgeous blu/green stoneware studio pottery bowl on the till counter and said to the lady, I'll pop this down if you don't mind, i'm just going to wheel my buggy round and then I'll pay" then a lady came to the counter and said "oh that's mine I saw it earlier I've come back for it" and the staff said "oh sorry did you reserve it?" Tha lady said she hadn't but she'd wanted it.. 🙄 so the staff said "well sorry I'm selling it to this lady now"... The woman shouted some obscenities and left! Some people!!
Unfortunately retail theft has increased all across the UK, and not just fuelled by a cost of living crisis which would point to the theft of essential needed items. Here in Dereham many charity shops have taken improved crime prevention this year. One has installed CCTV and warning signs, another three have moved items of greater value towards the back of shop and away from the door into a position they can be monitored more easily by staff after several thefts. Several Car Boot sellers I have spoken to this year have also suffered item loss. Although after 14 years of working in retail loss prevention management I have now moved on... it still winds me up a little.
Yes of course. The links for my Instagram or my email address is in the Description Box underneath the video. Please drop me a message and we can organise that for you.
Not all that follow the path are good Andrea. Rachel said she would have been more than cross 😡 it’s a bit naughty IMO. Maybe next time pay for it and get it in the car soonest 😉😊👍♥️
Hi Carol, can you drop me an email at thehillsarealive.info@gmail.com Or a direct message on Instagram. The links to contact me are in the description box under the video. I can let you know a price and any more details you need 🙂

Definitely a lesson learned 😕
Merry Christmas to you too, and a very happy birthday for the 13th 🎂

It really was 😕 The warmer is great isn’t it.
Love that warmer dish Andrea, I'd of been very happy with a find like that.
You could also put tea lights or fairy lights in their

It’s so much worse when people do that in a charity shop 😕
Omg I love that warmer how useful and attractive too.
It really is!

Argh that’s so rude! She must have realised they were yours too 😕
I have never seen a warmer like that before! Fascinating ! Practical AND decorative! BTW. Its not fair game. I hate the thought of anyone pinching your jugs.
😂 The warmer is fab isn’t it!
So sorry you didn't get your vase! I can feel your pain in the video! It's not the value its the thought that someone had stolen it out of your bag!
Yes, absolutely.
thanks for another vlog 🙂. appreciate it. Have a nice week Andrea.
Thank you! You too.
I love the bunny best. Sorry that happened to you hugs x
Thanks Elizabeth x
Yes I agree it was out of order who ever took it 😢
Also, maybe a slim shopping trolley on wheels would be useful in a big event like this one (even though I have tripped up a few people in the past with mine lol)
That’s a good idea. It was a bit of a tight squeeze in the aisle though.
You got really good stuff, it's awful that someone stole your vase, hope you find another one soon.
Thank you, I hope so too 🙂

No conscience whatsoever if you steal from a charity shop
There’s no excuse wherever you’re from is there 😕
That is so out of order! Some people have no morals. Such a shame.

Oh yes, I remember that 🙂

Yes exactly! I’d never rummage in what is obviously someone else’s bag.

Wow! That’s disgusting behaviour. She sounds awful!

We had our fair share of theft from the shops we had too. it really makes you sick to know that people steal from charity shops though 😔
I think its a horrible thing to do, but no reflection on you it says more about them! I loved the Spode dish the best.
Thanks Tina 🙂 Yes the Spode dish is gorgeous.
I get £25-£30 within days of listing alarm clocks on Etsy.
I passed that on to Nic. We’ll try it on Etsy.
I'm so sorry your vase was taken. I believe in karma. It will come back on the person that took it at some point.
I'm very interested in the owl mug I would like to buy that please 😊

Next time we won’t leave it unattended!
@@andreahills74 absolutely 👍 I’m still annoyed and it was not even my stuff ! Really feel for ya both 😥
@@marcuskiritsis2076 Thanks Marcus. These things happen I guess, and we’ve definitely learned an important lesson.
@@andreahills74 don’t let it put you off going as you got some good items just get Nic to squirrel it away quickly next time ♥️👍😊
@@marcuskiritsis2076 No, it won’t put us off we will just be more careful/vigilant in the future 😊
Id love that little bunny how much please?

How annoying, especially as you were excited about the item. I'd be p*ssed off too!
My fave item was actually the scarf. Gorgeous 😍
That is sad to hear some people have no soul 🤔
Certainly no thought for others anyway 😞
