No, music was not like this when this album was released. This was still the grunge era, maybe post-grunge. But Pink Floyd always operated in a different universe, very few of their songs are representative of what was popular or mainstream at the time.
you should do the live pulse concert remastered version of SORROW. the intro and outro is unbelievable, and has a long ripping guitar solo from David. Just regular folks excelling in their craft/trade coming together to make fantastic music.
i think i was 15/6 years old when this cam out and waited for the cd and i cannot remember anything else doing anything like this when it came out, when it drops into the the part where he sings... you can have anything you want, you can drift you can dream even walk on water.. sounds so sweet for Dave's voice, a bit like the break on learning to fly when its performed live the pulse concerts were around the time of this album being released the whole album was like no other Floyd album, the love of the music can take you places and that's not a quirk its a spiritual part of the experience
You felt sexy you are sexy and this song is as Raunchy as they come, it is one of my favorite songs on this album. Talking about the fans who are never happy how ever much the artist gives and always want more.
This song is basically Pink Floyd rebelling against their status as icons, saying "no, we don't have all the answers, we're just ordinary guys making music. Stop putting us on a pedestal". There's a great live version of this song on the Pulse CD (audio only).
That's the right interpretation... David Gilmour has never felt comfortable around the deity status of musicians of his calibre... hard not to feel they live in another dimension
PF never made an album to fit into the music at the time imo......PF just made great music thats why they stand out alone......imo nothing compares to PF music, and nothing ever will...they are just a classic band.........top 5 of all time imo ..
@@rmyikzelf5604 No the band has the rights to the material and live performances and Waters still gets a vote but is always outvoted. But some of the vids have copyright on the visuals. Live Floyd is usually safe and just audio is safe too.
Gotta love the Floyd! Couldn't listen to this album for many years cos it reminded me too much of the life l left behind...too much fun! Boredom since! (My fault!). Now not 10, but nearly 30 years 'got behind me'. Don't waste life like l did! 5:11 onwards used to destroy me, now l'm older it's just pure heaven again! Enjoy your Pink Floyd journey!
I'm going to have to dig deep through several boxes to find my copy now...lol You got the point of the song. You've had my blood, my tears. What must I do to satisfy you? Like trying to please Satan, you can't do it. The end almost says, "you ungrateful anus", by lowering the tone to signify anger towards an impossible to please person. Whether in a relationship, or the boss, whoever. Floyd never really followed trends in music, they pretty much had a genre to themselves, even though they were pigeonholed as progressive, from LSD driven psychedelic in there first few years. Personally, I think they got better and better as they matured. TTFN.
Pink Floyd is my all-time band. I call myself a Floydian just because in order to appreciate and love Pink Floyd you have to hear it not listen to it which I'm sure you noticed to truly appreciate them but in my opinion the album version is good however the live version from Pulse is phenomenal and so much better. The song is different but it's also the same. I hope you can check that out and truly enjoy it.
If you want to lean to play guitar; A) Dave Gilmore B) Jimmi C) The guy in the local music shop Because, possibly in that order, is where it will help.
Dave's wife ( Polly ) wrote the lyrics her first, She wrote some with Floyd then wrote 90% of Dave's solo work ( checkout Dave's solo "Live at Gdansk" " live at Pompeii"). solo: Dave put the music on her I pad and she walks around and comes up with the lyrics. She once said that if I ask Dave a ? he can answer it better on the guitar.
I kinda wish you hadn't looked at the lyrics for this... this isn't a read the lyrics type of song... it's just a let-your-hair-down and just listen type of song... If you want Floyd songs where you should pay attention to lyrics, i can make you a whole list x
Hey Randi! This is making you feel sexy? Damn, please, listen to so much more music like this then, lol! ;) You won't get no complaints here hun, lol! You do make smile, lol! Wait a moment there, you say ' What do you want from me ' The name of the song and then said " You feel this! " Shouldn't it be the guy saying this as this is something us guys know oh so well, lol! ;) Good stuff is Pink Floyd! Be good little lady and take care hun!
Pink Floyd was and is a genre on it's own. This album was considered as going back to being very 'Pink Floyd' at the time, while their previous album was criticised for being too 1987 wall of sound poppy (complete with drum machine in stead of Nick Mason)
The Division Bell is the most underrated Pink Floyd Album, at least in my opinion.
Pink floyd are one of the most unique bands ever, way ahead of their time. You have all the other bands..then you have Pink Floyd.
Pink Floyd has always been unusual.. no one has ever had this sound or meaning.
No, music was not like this when this album was released. This was still the grunge era, maybe post-grunge. But Pink Floyd always operated in a different universe, very few of their songs are representative of what was popular or mainstream at the time.
There are about 10 ridiculously epic rock groups from the 60s. 70s. 80s. 90s. Floyd, Zep, Rush, Metallica and others.. Amazing time to be a music fan.
Pink Floyd is on their own planet. Nothing really compares to them.
This sound is unique to Pink Floyd, not of the era it was released. Thanks for the reaction

Great reaction, no one reacts to this song. Love this album!

One of my favourite songs from PF. Thanks for reaction to it.
I feel sorry for my daughters. No telling how many hundreds of times they had to listen to this album.
Lucky girls!
You brought them up well 😊

Really enjoying Your PINK FLOYD reviews.
Division Bell is a good Album.... High Hopes, is My favourite Song.

Most overlooked Song in the album

In my opinion this was the best track off this album
No need to stop Pink Floyd. As I know they don't argue for copyright issues.
Some of the vids have issues. PULSE doesn't and just the album cover should always be fine.
Dare I say it? But... Roger Waters?

@@rmyikzelf5604 Waters has no say in this. He left the band and they continued on.

The only sound Pink Floyd has is there own... enjoy!
Your first pause/ comment..."Is this what music was like when this was released?"...My response would have to be "No"...Pink Floyd Stands Alone
If you want to lean to play guitar;
A) Dave Gilmore
B) Jimmi
C) The guy in the local music shop
Because, possibly in that order, is where it will help.
There's only one pink Floyd and only one David Gilmore
The lyrics for this song were written by David Gilmour’s then girlfriend now wife Polly Samson.
Your generation has no idea the music and talent you've missed out on.
Only other band that I can think of that sounded a bit like Pink Floyd around this time are Marillion.
They were more the continuation of 1970's Genesis to me. Camel's Dust and Dreams came closer to Pink Floyd, if you ask me.
@@rmyikzelf5604 I agree with you about early Marillion but the later stuff is more like later era Floyd.

You should listen to the live version on the pulse album it's even better
David Gilmore said he would rather sing with his guitar than his voice
The Two faces on the jacket make one face
The division bell was a bit like my marriage
I think you're darn pretty

Music was not like this. Pink Floyd have always been soooo different. The best. David Gilmour is God.
If you enjoyed this music, you should really give listen to some of music by The Alan Parsons Project. I’d recommend Games People Play.
