There was less than a second between the ref blowing the foul and Trossard kicking the ball. It's pedantic as hell and it only seems to be Arsenal players that get booked for this. Refs are running games. It's disgusting pundits aren't talking about what a disgrace it is. I highly doubt he done it on purpose.
I’m an Arsenal fan too, i hated seeing Trossard go but I do believe he knew what he was doing. He has a slight glance over his shoulder once the whistle had gone then kicked it.
It’s a ridiculous rule & didn’t affect the time in which the free kick could’ve been taken as Bernardo Silva was still rolling around on the floor.
He ran into the back of someone when already on a yellow card aswell. My guess was it’s the combination of both incidents.

I’m still not sure how you all think he knew what he was doing when he didn’t turn around immediately because after the challenge, he booted it straight away and probably did that because the ref blew the whistle with him thinking it was the halftime whistle, but because he had his backed turned whiled kicking the ball away, he wouldn’t of know the whistle was blown for the foul
He clearly did it on purpose and it's a yellow card. Just because Mikel is building a team of petulant children don't blame the refs for it

Just interested to know why Oliver didnt apply the same thoughts as last season when in Webb’s words he ‘chose not to overreact and spoil the game’. One was a dangerous tackle and this was kicking a ball away. Hypocrisy at its finest.

Michael Oliver gets a years Salary refereeing games in Abu Dhabi isn't that a crime and a conflict of interest when he is on the payroll of Man City
looking back at the action of trossard, it can be argued that he was in the action of challenging for the ball when the whistle was blown. Some say that you can tell he heard the whistle because he tried to stop the follow through, But in that case it means he was attempting stop himself from performing an automated action, which means it wasnt deliberate. Personally I believe he tried to stop the follow through in order to avoid kicking his opponent. But either way there wasn't enough time between the whistle and his kicking of the ball to be sure that it was deliberate

Instead of yellow card move the ball forward 40/50 metres towards goal up to arc if a player stops a quick play the ball.

There was no controversy about the yellow card, the card was deserved the only issue was referee inconsistency. That should be the issue.
Trossard didn’t wallop it into the stands though he actually kicked it in the path of Martinelli. Just poor journalism again, lazy, do your research and watch the game at least.

Free kick geven, no one touches the ball. But that still doesnt work in Trossard's case because he was in the motion of clearing the ball into the stands when the whistle blew. It was milliseconds after the whistle.

Trossard should know better but no consistency exists. The speed of the modern game means that referees must take a moment before issuing a yellow. They should consider the context of a game before acting. Oliver couldn’t wait to get the 2nd yellow out. The impact of going to 10 players is too big for yellows to be thrown around without proper consideration. Look at the first half at sp*rs - yellow cards given for non yellow card offences on both sides. The referees should have a post match press conference to explain their perspective/performance.
Blame your players. He committed two yellow card offences. Don’t see why you’re moaning.

Very strange interviewer strategy. Be consistent: you cant talk about accountability of yellow card decision when the point that was made was about consistency. But the interviewer avoided answering that point.

Its last seconds before the break and your team is defending. Ball just came to you and naturally u would kick it long and out to safety as you can and his action wasnt after 30 secs when the whole world knew game was stopped. It was literally few secs or even at the time he blew the whistle.

@malakai4896 the ref can't always get everything right. Trust me, I've done refereeing and it's the hardest job ever. Some times you get them some times you don't. But route cause for your sending off was players error and your first goal was a gift. Except it.
