Wow...Wow...Wow! You are simple "The Best"❤
Wow, you made my day. Thank you so much😊💚
I love those 😍
Thank you so much😊
Thank you for another great video. This one is definitely a favorite because this year we are growing dwarf sunflowers for the first time, and we're enjoying them so much.
So nice of you. So glad you are enjoying your grown sunflowers this year. Thank you so much for the comment!
I love this type of sunflower
Hello From Philippines.
Hello and Thank you for watching from Philippines 🇵🇭👋 So glad to hear it. Happy gardening!
Too pretty 😍
Thank you so much! 😊
I just grew my first sunflowers this summer and they are such a joy in the garden. Although not this dwarf variety, the tallest mine got were around 11-12 feet high. As a beginning gardener, I highly recommend growing it!
Wow that 's fantastic. Thank you very much for sharing!
lovely !!! I harvested my first sunflower seeds last week. But next spring, I definitely want to plant a dwarf yellow hybrid. Purchasing flower seeds overseas is cumbersome, but I will definitely try a few. Thank you for the beautiful video.
Sounds great! You should definitely try these dwarf sunflowers, very beautiful and packed flowers. Wishing you a happy growing and thank you so much for your comment!
Gorgeous!!! I tried growing the Mammoth Russian type of sunflowers. They grew very tall and for them being sunflowers, they couldn't tolerate the heat last month here in 8b zone. Go figure LOL!!! I like the dwarf sunflowers you have grown. Beautiful indeed!!!
I can totally relate to that, same issue with the tall sunflowers. The dwarf ones are easier to handle and they bare several flowers on one stem. Glad you like my flowers and thank you so much for your comment!😊
Beautiful 😍
Thank you so much😊
So nice 👍
So glad you like it! Thank you so much for your comment!😊
I grew a few sunflowers last year, but just when they were looking nice, the squirrels chewed them off, and stole them!!! 🤬 This next year, I plan on trying again, but going to build a cage out of chicken wire to TRY to protect them! 😝
Sounds good. Thank you for visiting!
Good idea! Something did the same to my sunflowers, but I never thought it was the squirrels.
Truly one of the most pleasant gardening channels. I was just wondering, do you ever save your seeds from plants or do you just buy them for convenience sake (not having to worry about cross pollination etc.) Thanks!
Thank you so much. I do collect seeds from some of my plants but it depends. I have a limited space to grow vegetables so for some plants that need more time to go to seed, it is not feasible for me to wait and keep the space unused, so instead I plant something else. However for some plants that the seeds are easier to collect and the ones that I like, I sure collect their seed, like tomatoes, zucchinis, melons, peppers, herbs,... . And on the cross pollination, as I said my garden is not huge and usually I don't have different varieties growing at the same time. Although in some cases like zinnias I don't mind at all to have cross pollination to get different colors. And I am truly grateful for your support. Cheers!
There's just something about sunflowers that make people happy.
Same here. They are absolutely beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing!💚
These are amazing!!! Im trying to grow some myself and so excited bcs of your video! I do have one question, how often do you water them? Does "keep well watered" mean water everyday, or only when the top soil is dry? Thanks in advance!
Glad you liked the video. Sunflowers like to be well watered. If it is hot, water them everyday for sure. But in general when top soil is dry they need to be watered. Hope it helps and thank you so much for your comment. Happy growing!
@@TowardGarden Thank you! Follow up questions, during pre germination stage,
1) do we have to keep the paper towel wet all the time? Meaning that we have to spray with water whenever they get dry?
2) does germinating the seeds require sun? Or can I keep it indoor until it germinates?
Again, thanks a bunch! I appreciate you responding to the comments. Helps a total beginner such as myself. Cheers!
@@thecheesefriz7741 Germination do need sun (or any light) and should be done inside. If you keep the seed inside a container, most probably you just need to wet paper towel once and it wouldn't get dry. Specially since germination happens quick in few days so it would be rare for paper towel to get dry. (but if it happened, yes spray again). Good luck and happy growing.
Great video!
What mixture of soil would u use in grow bags please ?
You can check my other videos and you can use the either the mix for vegetables, or the mix I used for other flower (such as calendula). If you are using bagged compost, use 50% compost, 25% coir/peat moss, 25% perlite). I will post a video on the potting mix very soon. Happy growing and thank you for the comment!
💛🧡
Thank you so much!
Hey, beautiful content & plants! Could you advise me on the fertilisers used & the frequency/dosage?
Any flower fertilizer will work, I have used 3-4-5 NPK Flower-tone 1 cup every 3-4 weeks. Any fertilizer high in potash and phosphorous will work too. Thank you very much for your comment!
Beautiful sunflowers! How tall do they get?
They get 20-22" (50-55cm) tall. Thank you very much for your comment!😊
Annuals mean they don’t come back the next season, correct? You would have to start over the following year? Thank you!
Yes, that is correct. Annuals don't come back next season and you should start from seeds again (vs. Perennials which will grow back next year). Thank you for visiting!
Where did you purchase the seeds from? Also love the content
So glad you love the content! I got the seeds online from Burpee, variety is called "Sunray Yellow Hybrid". You may also find seeds by searching dwarf sunflower varieties. Happy gardening and thank you so much for your comment!
If planting in a grow bag what size of pot would you recommend? Thanks, Always a pleasure to watch your videos.
The wider the better. I 'd recommend 15 gallon grow bags or 20" wide. Happy gardening and thank you very much for your comment!
Hi! What fertilizer do you use for them?
Hi! You can use any flower fertilizer, I have used 3-4-5 NPK Flower-tone about 1 cup every 3-4 weeks. Choose any fertilizer high in potash and phosphorous. Thank you for your comment!
how long did this bloom for?
It will flower for 1-2 weeks, same with most of the sunflowers. I suggest to plant in succession to have flowers all summer! Thank you for visiting!
Hello hi!
I need to know how many times to watering the plant? Thanks in advance🙏
Hi there! Depending on the weather you are growing sunflowers, you will need to keep soil evenly moist but not wet. I usually water them every other day. Once they are established they can tolerate drought. Hope this helps and thank you for visiting!
@@TowardGarden Oh okay. Thank you very much🙏
What season should we start?
You can plant them in mid spring when soil temperature is above 70°F (20°C). Thanks for visiting.
How do you keep slugs away?
We don't have big problem with slugs here, but placing a shallow bowl of beer next to plants to catch slugs helps. Or you can use organic slug bait such as Sluggo which is basically iron phosphate. Another great option is to sprinkle food grade DE Diatomaceous earth on plants to stop slugs crossing amzn.to/3MumnvJ . Hope this helps and good luck!
@@TowardGarden thank you
Seeds edible
Not for this variety. They don't produce seeds as other types of sunflower. thanks.
you are selling seeds of those sunflowers because they interest me.
Sorry, I am not selling seeds. These are from Burpee, maybe you can find them online. Thank you for visiting.
@@TowardGarden I already got it on ebay by the name of burpee, thank you very much.
@@MrNatjan2020 sounds great. Happy growing!
