Thanks, Steph! My grandmother, 93, loves profusion zinnias. Every year, we would get them at our local garden center. We used to fill my whole car up with flowers. Now she is in assisted living, so we don't go flower shopping anymore. I grow a lot of marigolds. Last year, the rabbits ate half of them. Never had that problem before. Thanks for sharing your list! I can't wait to do the gomphrena drift this year. Take care

Hi Tina, thank you so much for sharing this beautiful memory with us. I know that each year when I see cosmos it also brings me so much joy as I have a very similar memory. In my Q&A vid a few weeks back, I described that my vavo (grandmother in portuguese), also had a large drift of cosmos each year, and they fondly remind me of her. I can't believe the rabbits ate your marigolds!! Its incredible. You never know what they'll eat.

Good job! Zinnias like warm soil to germinate. Thet love raised beds. Cosmos do also. Direct sowing demands warm soil. Profusion zinnias do best when set out as plants, not direct sown. You are definitely right that everyone should read and reread seed packets, And keep them for reference. Zone 6B in KY.

Hi there! Welcome to the channel. There are many things you can grow here, takes a little time to figure it out. The best thing to do is to observe your light conditions (sun vs. shade), and whether your soil stays moist for a long time after a rain, or if it dries fairly quickly. This can help you narrow things down. As for annuals like the ones shown in this video, they can be grown almost anywhere as long as its sunny.

Another great video, Steph. So excited for this year's annual seed plants. Last year I planted tall zinnia from seed in a container and you are so right, it was too tall and leggy. So for this year I got Zinnia - Profusion Cherry (14-18' tall) and Zinnia Dwarf Pepito mix (8-10"tall). I couldn't help myself though, and since I loved your Zinnia Queen Lime Red, I will also be growing them from seed in the ground. Looking forward to the TipTop Alaska Salmon Nasturtiums along with Alyssum Violet Queen. And last but not least, my favorite, Hyacinth Bean. Can't wait to see all of your plants this year!

I always pinch my zinnias as seedlings which makes them bushy and strong from the start.
Also a silica foliar spray(pH of 5.5) helps make the whole process so much easier.

Great program! I would love to try the Zahara zinnia and saw the one you are growing in a magazine and it looked fabulous in the front border. Also the cactus variety of Zinnia is the best one for pollinators. I always have trouble with germinating nasturtiums. I have a dozen that came up but some varieties I was looking forward to growing never germinated .

Thank you so much Jo! Hoping the Zahara do well. Nastursius have a hard outer shell. Try soaking them overnight before sowing them, see if it helps.

Hi from Maine! I’m starting my garden this year. I’m a total beginner. This video was so helpful. Excited to get some seeds going soon. What are those stunning pink cone flowers in your container with the alyssum?

This was very informative. I love love love my Zinnias and Sunflowers. I planted so many of them in yogurt cups, different sizes, colors and have them on a card table in the living room window, south window. Within 2 days they were coming up. I was given a Black Sunflower last year, saved the seeds, they're coming up. Plus I planted other plants too. Enough for family, friends and neighbors. First thing I check on in the morning. I did not know you can pot Zinnias and Sunflowers, have to check the size. Some of my sunflowers were taller than the shed. Thank you for the great tips 🌻

Great way to reuse those yogurt cups! Sharing plants is so fun. Black eyed Susan's are a classic beauty that pollinators love! Thanks for sharing Connie, and happy gardening!! 🌱🌻🌸

Very informative video. I am trying a thumbelina mix of dwarf zinnia (6-8” height) in a small southeast facing small garden built up with stack stones behind our garage. Hopefully the heat of the spring sun will keep the seed warm enough to germinate! Happy Easter!

Great seed starting information for everyone. I remember as a beginner gardener, not paying a lick of attention to seed starting depth...now I think, how could I NOT have done that?!! I had gomphrena for the first time last year too...amazing annual. I didn't order any seeds and am kicking myself! LOL thanks for the lovely video.

Thank you so much! I've made so many of these mistakes as well, which is why I love to share what I've learned in hopes it will help others. Still time to pick up some seeds at local stores and nursuries if you wanted. Thanks again.

This is very simple, clear and educational video. I am trying to grow flowers from seeds (because I dont want to waste so much on buying seedlings), and these are great suggestions! As someone who lives in the tropics, only my zinnia grew from seeds. I have no luck in marigolds, cosmos and petunias😅
I will try again to grow more. I can't wait for my zinnias to start blooming

I planted my Zinnia and Basil seeds in an old rusty wheelbarrow on May 1 here in Arkansas after weeks of heavy rains and freezes. They germinated in about 10 days and flowered in the middle of June. They the only flower I planted that has attracted pollinators to my garden. I also have a galvanized tub with Marigolds, but I don't see any pollinators going to them so next Spring I will be dedicating a full 4 feet of garden bed to Zinnias and Basil. Not only are they beautiful but they serve a purpose in feeding my pollinators.
