Half the time I don't even care what your reviewing or vlogging I come for the comedy and banter. And this one delivered OMG lol. I feel you on stems Ive been using them the last few years and it change the way I mix I cant go back haha. That a bold move going from one software to another changing controllers its a lot. I moved from Serato to VDJ all because of stems that's been a learning curve. One day I want to give Rekordbox a try see what that has to offer I'm not locked in to one software or brand I try as much of it as I can.
Making the same switch from Prime 2 to Rev 5 but just on VDJ, which I already use with my Prime 2. Majority of the positives and negatives you mentioned are exactly what I was thinking when making the switch. Glad I’m making the jump, seems like it’s a net positive for sure.
I just hooked mine up at 2am stoned as shit... lol man I almost called out of work today I was having so much fun.. TGIF tho.. off on weekends.. the feeling reminds me of when I was 12 years old and was building my first remote control car.. haha never let the child die inside of you gentlemen... enjoy .. Does the bpm bar counting function on the ddj rev 5 really help with easy mixing and blending music with different bpms ? Plus scratching is no problem for me and my main concern is being able to blend and mix bpms on the fly during gigs and parties 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽so please let me know your opinion on that particular function.
I would say the auto BPM function is pretty dope when mixing. For me, I have used it lots of times and it's nice to have that pull the bpm up or down while I can do other things for the mix

Not really. I’m not vibing with a 4 channel controller and that thing has so many buttons lol. I’m still in love with the rev5. Only upgrade I might do is the rev7

As a wedding DJ, is there reasons that it's worth paying more for the Flx10?? I KNOW the differences between the 2, but if I go Rev 5...am I going to be missing anything that the Flx 10 offers? The only time I use more than 2 channels is for cocktail hour with Spotify which I THINK I can use the aux input on the Rev 5 for.
I like that the Rev 5 has paddles, stem buttons and 2 channel. That's why I picked this one. I would weigh out which features you really want and go that route.

I think you should be okay to use your mic input on your board. I have a pioneer DDJ SZ that I bought back in 2014 and I use my mic input for for all the gigs since then. Also the price point for the rev 5 in my opinion is fair considering the fact that I paid $2, 500 for my SZ and rolling case. Lastly if you like stems, you should give virtual DJ a try. I use it with my SZ but the effects built in work with any an every controller. Btw, The cutscene with your wife and the "SYNC " bleep is genius editing. 😎
I’m not a “fighting” dj either lol. I think I’d prefer the pitch faders in the lower right like on cdj’s. I could see how someone who’s used to cdj’s and s9 or s11 would be slightly annoyed.
I picked up a Hercules Inpulse T7 to try out moving platters and stems. The moving platters are actually great but the the knobs feel too cheap to me. Still not sold on Serato and learning how to use stems. Not 100% sold yet but it is cool.
Well my trial has ended but I order Pitch N Time while I’m the trial. I lot won’t let me add Serato Pro because it says I already have a subscription and there’s no way to change it in my account. I’m completely unable to pause my controller. This doesn’t bode well for Serato. Man I’d be pissed if something like this happened at a gig. Hopefully shouldn’t after purchasing but still.

@@AaronStrawn once you try the rev-7 jog wheels there’s no going back to the plasticky rev5 haha. Also top notch pre-amp for 2 mics and auxiliary so you can dump your external mixer. Simplifies your set up and cable management.

I'm a Stems fan myself but to drop $3400 just for Stems plus the hassle of transitioning your library is nonsensical. If it was all about the stems then Virtual DJ's stems dominate Serato's plus VDJ integrates flawlessly with Prime 2. There's nothing you can do on Serato that can't be done on VDJ & if it makes a damn difference, they have a Serato skin for VDJ that makes it damn near indistinguishable. I can literally see you struggling trying to convince yourself that it was worth spending that cash for stems. Trying to justify it by breaking it down part for part. First of all, those jogwheels are nothing like CDJ jogs which are mechanical while the Rev 5 jogs are capacitive as are the ones on Prine 2. Pioneer pads are great but Denon pads are the same ones found on Akai MPC which are 2nd to none. I can't argue the Magvel but at the end if the day you sacrificed a premium flagship 2 channel standalone/controller & on board FX for a entry level controller with a better crossfader & spent $3400 to do it.... that's nuts! Spending that much to go backwards.
ALERT. I need to do another video. Now I noticed after DJ'ING for about 2 hours. When trying to activate Stems on left deck, it loads a random song from your library. THIS may be a BIGGER issue and JUST finding this out... The firmware update does NOT resolve this issue while using USB port A. #rev5 #pioneer #pioneerddjrev5 @pioneerdjglobal @pioneerdjusa

I havent had any luck with the built in mic inputs. They can't be EQ'd and Feedback/distort real easy. I always use an external mixer for the mics

You mean the fx lights? They blink for me when the paddle is activated. Didn’t have to adjust a setting for that
