Amazing breakdown, Terry! At $1,100 I do wish they had the display jogwheels, but this looks like a solid controller overall. I sold my DDJ1000SRT a few months back and I'm in the market for a new controller!
PioneerDJ has done it. This is everything People have been asking for for. This with out a doubt will be the mobile DJ's Controller of choice. I rank this up with the DDJ1000!!!!!! Great job CT!!!!
I always appreciate your reviews, this one will make my choice easier as I was torn between this, the REV7 and the RANE ONE. For my style of DJing the auto-BPM transition feature is a game changer. The battle layout and lack of built in effects doesn’t bother me. So I think this is in my future!! Thank you CT for another honest, insightful review. Peace, DJ 12
For the average mobile guy, this is brilliant and at a price point where the ROI is feasible. One can wish for additional features like in the Rev 7, however it seems it is priced appropriately based on features. Not sure whos making the design decisions at Pioneer but my hat off to them, very smart.
This looks dope. I didn't want to get the Rev7 and opted for a Rev1 for my small gigs. The Rev1 is missing a lot of features and this Rev5 is looking like a nice upgrade for me.
Mine just came in. I have the rev1 for small simple gigs but didn’t want to spend the money for a rev 7. I love the jog wheels compared to the 1000! Just wished the controller came with hardware fx
Pioneer DJ literally just answered my prayers and then some with the DDJ-REV5! I’ve been saying for MONTHS, I hoped they would make something that’s above my adored DDJ-REV1 but under the DDJ-REV7 I already own the RANE One so I don’t need another flagship just something more professional (w/RGB lighting, XLR output etc) than my REV1. Same thought process as the DJM-S11, DJM-S7 and DJM-S5 Pioneer DJ even drooped a Magvel fader 🎚️ in it!? USB-C power and connectivity! Wow 🤩 Take My Money 💰
Fact that this controller is now mapped for djay pro iOS, Mac and Windows, makes this controller so appealing. Mapped excellently for Djay Pro. I have with 12.9 iPad Pro. Amazing
Speaking on behalf of my mobile colleagues, this is the controller we all wanted years ago, and they came out with the 1000srt instead (which I really like and still use). For me this is a want and not at need at the moment, but if I were in the market would grab in a heartbeat. Good job pioneer.
Prefer to pay a little more and just get the flx10 it’s just a complete controller flx 10 is the KING of controller now on 2024 until pío release a new XZ SYSTEM XZ2 etc …
Just bought one. Just got to wait 3-5 days for delivery. It’s like an upgraded DDJ 1000 srt minus the extra channels of course. I’m thankful for the usb-c connections and the cue buttons. Instead of the cue switch from the rev 7. Pioneer will sell a ton of these.
STEM EQ is one of my favorite things about Algoriddim, and seeing it become commonplace in more and more controllers is amazing. I know there are plenty of mappable options with REV7, but hopefully they'll come out with a re-buffed version (2023 or 2024 edition, REV7.5 or something) that has some of these dedicated buttons. I would not be mad about using the REV5 at all. Also loving STEMS Solo (hey, SEMS Solo? Han Solo? Did @priyonjoni name this??? 🤣) and the ability to use multiple effects at once, which the latter is a Mixon 8 Pro favorite feature for me. Thank you for another awesome overview and review of your time with this controller. Looks like an excellent unit at a great price point!
I think the The Rev 5 has put a massive stop to the Hype of the Hercules Inpulse t7. Just based on better crossfader. I was looking at the t7 and going eventually upgrade the crossfader, but I reckon that make them around the same price. However the inputs and outputs are better on the Pioneer.
Was considering selling the 1000 for this until no built in fx. I wish we could get to a place where echo, reverb, and maybe the brake effect are standard built in fx on everything.
thank you for another great video. i've never tried a controller and came close to picking up the rev7 - but upgraded to an S11 from the S9 instead... but this looks decent for wedding gigs in terms of size and ease of setup.
Dope product I still have my 1000 Srt and Rev 7 I see a firmware update for the effects to be onboard or since pioneer has acquired Serato those effects are in for a major upgrade. Thanks CT great information once again.
Very detailed review, thanks. Are the Serato effects post fader? How do they sound? I was in for sure until, no buitin effects, lack of RCA/turntables in and only 2 channels. Undecided.
I've been begging for a replacement for the sr2 since I don't need 4 channels my prayers were answered. Tuff decision now, rev5 or the impulse t7 with serato pro purchase and fader upgrade. Dope review CT!
Midi map stems to Rev 7 using Pioneer utility, it's just a MIDI button remap... plus rev 7 get magvel pro fader with tension adjust and also those glorious moving platters .. save up guys and buy the Daddy Rev 7 instead ... the best!
Normally I don't comment in videos but I want to add my 20p because I can't believe how many ppl still not get it and compare it to the REV7, I guess they have to jusify the money spent because some even look down at the DJs who are considering purchasing it by saying things like "great for amateurs or for the ones who cannot afford anything better", well, let me tell you that having a expensive controller doesn't mean the DJ is any better, probably more for the looks and showing off The first thing that has to be understood is that the REV7 is the first controller in its kind, yes it is a solid unit but a revision is needed eventhough anything can be mapped to it Like it or not the REV5 is a game changer that hardly we can call a midrange controller for amateurs, it has the best features from the FLX10 and it is not heavy (if someone like me has been DJing out and about with a SZ-RZ then you know the pain) also many DJs don't like and don't want moving platters, that's a thing of the past and for the vinyl fanboys, not only makes the controller heavier but more failing points in the long run Another thing as FLX10 user and someone who regularly plays on CDJs and All in Ones connected to the laptop, from my point of view the screens are useless when all the info is on the laptop screen, I hardly look at them, maybe sometimes to adjust the BPM, therefore Pioneer DJ made the right decision by not adding them on the REV5 Last but not least, there is another thing that many ppl need to understand, controllers are not meant to be used like a DJM to connect turntables and CDJs, the option is there but they are not ideal, most of the controller DJ's I know hardly use the LINE/PHONO inputs, just one every now and then to connect a phone
Completely agree with you! I work in Serato and recently bought REV5 and its a great controller, too bad it had some hardware issues so store will send me a new controller. Whats your opinion about REV5 vs FLX10? Im thinking which controller to order as replacement. REV is great but has some flaws (internal fx, pitch fader placement, Cue and play buttons placement. I love the battle style mixer on REV5 but would love the deck section to be more like FLX10
Anyone else remember the early controller days, when you could unlock effects on your Numark NS7 by going crazy on the knobs until effects were finally unlocked?? We’ve come a looong way 😢😅
Was looking at cdjs so I could just take out my djm s7 and leave my plx 1000s home. Then this dropped. Can’t wait to finally get my hands on it around mid January 😑 😂
Thanks for a very honest and very informative review! My DDJ-SX2 is still ok but I have been looking for a new 'perfect' controller for 4 years now. The Rev 5 has everything I was squeezing out of the SX2 plus everything it was missing. Damn, how to convince my wife to get new hardware?
Question. How can I map or change the dedicated stem button to echo vocal out like it does when you use the performance pads. Pretty silly if this can NOT be done. Also I can not stand that you have to double tap above performance pad to activate stems on said performance pads. You guys know that you can NOT see those performance pad colors in the sun light, so I am missing cues points and mixes having to look to se if stems is active!!!
13:09 if you turn down the mid/Bass Melody to zero the lights on the stems will turn off then hit pad 2 or 3 to turn the one you don’t won’t to control back on.
Good review CT. Now, Hollywood DJ. I actually purchased from their on-line store and I can tell you, my first experience was meh...I ordered 2 Technics headshells from them and they sent me 1 Technics and 1 Numark and when I called them, they said we didn't have the 2nd Technics but Numark headshells are just as good???? WTF???? However, I need a piece of equipment so, I will give them another shot.
The Rev5 is an impressive kit. The thing is I am not a battle-style DJ so the pitch slider and no master tempo will not work for me but I know DJs will like to upgrade from a Rev1 and would enjoy it. Nice review CT.
Hey Terry. How well do the Serato effects work with those paddles? I could never get the Serato effects to work well with the Rane One so I'm curious on how well they work on the REV5
When you hit the stop button on the deck how did you get the sound of a real deck stopping? I’ve just got my rev 5 and when I hit the stop button it just stops the track instantly leaving no deck sound.
iPhone 15 will have usb c as well. Strange thing about the attenuator on the mic. Love the dual deck option on each side, but will have a learning curve. Would love a rekordbox option with moving platters. Great video!
Not sure which to get now. I had my eye on the rev 7 because I prefer spinning platters but wondering if i should try adapting to still platters cause it looks like the rev 5 has more bonus features plus the price leaves you with alot of change. Maybe im wrong but just seems like these new features will definitely cause rev 7 sales to slow down
This unit is a lot cheaper built than the Rev7. If you want moving platters, go for the big boy with nice jog screens. You can map the stems on it to match this one.
Never knew deck move was a thing.. always struggled to get the decks separated while switching from 1 and 3. using stems.. might have to upgrade just because of that. Thanks
Hey T, on the Rev5 how does the piano play work. I have it ready to go and select it and when I begin to press the piano it always defaults to the first question point
Wow. Almost want to buy just for the stem eq. Combined with the dual deck mode…this almost complete reduces the need for all that real estate for four channel faders. And I have an old ddj Sp1 I can use to control serato efx without trackpad. Auto bpm transition is a waste of real estate to me, since manual change of tempo allows me to pick the speed at which I transition.
Only time will tell but from using the type c laptop input on the flx10 seems like it's not as strong of a connection as the USB B connection.. Hopefully those ports can handle the abuse over time 🤞🏼and ppl on older laptops might have a hard time finding quality usb type C to A. I don't see chroma cables having that option yet.. for power on the other hand type c is about time! These proprietary bricks are ridiculously overpriced from pioneer.. so many SRTs being powered by Chinese knockouts 🙈
You own a DDJ1000 Do you own a FLEX 10 Too and if no why Not? i did order a 1000 but it got discon and I am still waiting for my FLEX10 to arrive since March
Yoooo CT thanks for the shoutout!!! 🙌🙌🙌
Cause you're INSANE when it comes to those pads!!!
Amazing breakdown, Terry!
At $1,100 I do wish they had the display jogwheels, but this looks like a solid controller overall. I sold my DDJ1000SRT a few months back and I'm in the market for a new controller!
Just got my Rev 5 and I love it!... still learning it.. so far I'm loving all the different features on it! Pioneer Rocks!
PioneerDJ has done it. This is everything People have been asking for for. This with out a doubt will be the mobile DJ's Controller of choice. I rank this up with the DDJ1000!!!!!! Great job CT!!!!

Look at the Hercules Inpulse 500 for only $300. It's killing the Rev 1.
I agree with you the Rev 5 strikes my fancy.
Pioneer DJ literally just answered my prayers and then some with the DDJ-REV5!
I’ve been saying for MONTHS, I hoped they would make something that’s above my adored DDJ-REV1 but under the DDJ-REV7
I already own the RANE One so I don’t need another flagship just something more professional (w/RGB lighting, XLR output etc) than my REV1. Same thought process as the DJM-S11, DJM-S7 and DJM-S5

Take My Money 💰
@rugerman205
I love the look of the Rev5 and all what it can do, I'm definitely thinking of getting this
Fact that this controller is now mapped for djay pro iOS, Mac and Windows, makes this controller so appealing.
It wouldn’t be a deal breaker, but I think I prefer the pitch faders where you normally find them on cdj’s now.
That deck move is really a game changer in the era of stems, hopefully it comes to more controllers.
They should really have 4 faders like the rane 4 though.. pioneer needs to make an answer to rane 4 with the split stems feature!
You can actually split stem on here. Forgot to mention it.
Prefer to pay a little more and just get the flx10 it’s just a complete controller flx 10 is the KING of controller now on 2024 until pío release a new XZ SYSTEM XZ2 etc …
Excellent review. I appreciate your patient explanation of the features hitting exactly what we need to hear and know.
You are a very valuable reviewer. Pioneer should listen to your accurate and smart comments.
Thanks
I just bought this tonight, can’t wait to use it
Thank you for a much needed in depth feature review!
Pioneer is really stepping it up again.
Rev 3 and 9 here it comes. Lovely controller😮. Great Vid T😮
This is what I've been waiting for!
pioneer really bringing the heat as of late 😭
I'll never regret getting the REV7...

That's exactly what I thought as well. I went and put a downpayment on the T7 on Sunday till it came in, then I learned about this thing.
What a great video!! Rev keeps surprising us with more great gear. DJs we gonna out of stuff to ask for!!
Speak for yourself sir. 😂😂😂
Your information is always on point thank you.
thank you bro so good video
Actually looks pretty kool - So if I pre-order today- I may get it sometime in late 2024😬
Was considering selling the 1000 for this until no built in fx. I wish we could get to a place where echo, reverb, and maybe the brake effect are standard built in fx on everything.
it's not the lack of onboard effects that are the issue. Serato effects are the issue. Hopefully we'll see some improvements with the Serato buyout.
I'm all over this ❤ I love this controller can't wait to get my hands on it!!!
thank you for another great video. i've never tried a controller and came close to picking up the rev7 - but upgraded to an S11 from the S9 instead... but this looks decent for wedding gigs in terms of size and ease of setup.

The first thing that has to be understood is that the REV7 is the first controller in its kind, yes it is a solid unit but a revision is needed eventhough anything can be mapped to it
Like it or not the REV5 is a game changer that hardly we can call a midrange controller for amateurs, it has the best features from the FLX10 and it is not heavy (if someone like me has been DJing out and about with a SZ-RZ then you know the pain) also many DJs don't like and don't want moving platters, that's a thing of the past and for the vinyl fanboys, not only makes the controller heavier but more failing points in the long run

Nice review, honest, to the point, gracias
I’ve been looking to upgrade from my SR2 to either the Rev-5,Rane 4 or the FLX-10
Anyone else remember the early controller days, when you could unlock effects on your Numark NS7 by going crazy on the knobs until effects were finally unlocked?? We’ve come a looong way 😢😅

Good luck.
What are your opinions on the rev5 vs the rane four? -particularly, in how they approach Stems. Appreciate your reviews and perspective!
It sounds like Rev5 has some good bells and whistles to it
I have a SR (Still goin strong)
Would you say to upgrade
Will it work with a new Mac book air ?
What kinda ports do you need?
What laptop do you recommend to use with it?
Dope review !
You know I had to check out your Rev5 release vid first!
Thank you

Dope video can't wait to get mine!
Enjoyed the review, thanks. For STEMS play, I’m between the FLX 10 and the Rev 5. Which do you recommend?
Is the sound coming out better quality than the Rev 1? i found Rev 1 kind of muffles, my fault if this question in the video. Great review
Daaaamn’ I’m still using my DDJ-SX
Thanx bro wats up from Brisbane Australia
13:09 if you turn down the mid/Bass Melody to zero the lights on the stems will turn off then hit pad 2 or 3 to turn the one you don’t won’t to control back on.
Whoa ! Wild features !! Does move and lock work on controllers like the ddj-sb3 which has the deck switch button /4 deck support
Hi Cleveland love the video, I want to another usb-c for my second computer is there a specific type I need or any usb-c to usb-c will do
Good review CT.
Great video man. I love your studio. What is that controller to your left for your microphone?
Which one u prefer Rev 7 or Rane 4 ?I still love Ns73 to this day incredible just wish it had 2 usb ports
Awesome review.
Thanks!
The Rev5 is an impressive kit. The thing is I am not a battle-style DJ so the pitch slider and no master tempo will not work for me but I know DJs will like to upgrade from a Rev1 and would enjoy it. Nice review CT.
No master tempo?? 🤔
I guess the Rev7 is going to be the last of the motorized platters I thought we would've seen an upgrade by now
huh? that just released last year lol
Hey Terry. How well do the Serato effects work with those paddles? I could never get the Serato effects to work well with the Rane One so I'm curious on how well they work on the REV5
I had that same issue with the rev 1. Like it wouldn’t never be on beat?
When you hit the stop button on the deck how did you get the sound of a real deck stopping? I’ve just got my rev 5 and when I hit the stop button it just stops the track instantly leaving no deck sound.
Did the jog wheels on yours feel "wobbly"? Mine does, like it's loose or something. Don't know if that is the norm.
iPhone 15 will have usb c as well. Strange thing about the attenuator on the mic. Love the dual deck option on each side, but will have a learning curve. Would love a rekordbox option with moving platters. Great video!
The future is open. Who knows what could happen?
So wait for this or go for the Rane Four? I can't decide
When are we gonna get a legitimate replacement for the SR2. It's been over 3yrs now and no new Serato controller in that size range for mobile DJs
Yo need your help.. my Mac 4 gen does not have the usb-C on my old Mac. What can I use to connect to my Mac without losing my power?? 😅
How is the build quality ? Compared to the flx6 and something like the ddj 1000
This one, the Rane Four or flx10? I’m a Serato user.
Thank you
great review thank you T🙏🏾👍🏾️💯
My pleasure
great review , nice controller
Thx
Never knew deck move was a thing.. always struggled to get the decks separated while switching from 1 and 3. using stems.. might have to upgrade just because of that. Thanks
I’m sold ❤
Price not bad. Good Review Bro.
Thx
Finally a DJ controller to compete with the overly priced used market for the DDJ 1000 SRT and useable Serato stem features not Rekordbox.
Hey T, on the Rev5 how does the piano play work. I have it ready to go and select it and when I begin to press the piano it always defaults to the first question point
Hmmm now I ask you rane 4 or rev 5 looking to upgrade this made my decision harder 🤦🏾♂️
Great idea on stem EQ…9 oclock.
Hope Pioneer adds some kind of RMX integration. Beat sequencer should have preceded piano.
So... w the usb c is it possible to use tablet and phone to dj like the flx4 claims w there buggy recordbox app?
The rev 5 reverse, does that mean the jog wheel will play backwards or opposite directions?
Nice video. Do you think any of the features will reach rane four?
That is an InMusic question.
I’m excited about the new update and new systems but just wish pioneer would just make a unit with a motorized in the standard format
Big up Cleveland! Be cool if it was batt powered & stand alone like the Numark mixstream.
I'm waiting on a All in One, with moving platters. Pioneer is that too much to ask for??
Apparently so and all metal is crazy.
@ClevelandTerry All we care about is how it will sound?!?
The sound is good. Equivalent to the 1000
@ClevelandTerry Kool, I was referring to the All in One with Moving platters, if they ever make them?
Terry, give me an update when Denon is gonna come out with something like that's one thing I'm waiting on from Denon.
I have a feeling namm 24 crazy stuff and improved stems will release
What do you recommend as suitable replacement to the ddj sz2?
I wish they wouldnt of cheaped out on the on the jog screens. Should of gave the 1000 screens with everything else as is. It would of been perfect
I did something like bpm transitions years ago with the ableton link
I have them both. FLX10 is the better board.
Is there a sample volume knob and can you do clean echo out fx?
I have the REV 7, I might opt to get the REV 5 for the stems.
You haven't mapped your stems on the Rev 7? It's pretty much the same once you do.
@@ClevelandTerry I mapped the REV7 to stems.
JFC another another ANTOHER controller???
Why is the rev5 cheaper then the rev7?🤔And with one is better?
