for the beef stew if you brown your meat first you can then saute your vegetables in the pan after the meat and it absorbs all that goodnesss on your pan and helps clean it to lol onion a a great cleaner 🙂
I’m in Ireland and just saw this video I LOVE all five recipes especially the cod curry one which I’d never have thought of. Definitely going to try them all. 😋 Happy New Year to you and the family 🎄🎅🎄🎅
I'm going to try your recipes in my Phillips one pot, but I'll sear the meat, and sweat the mirepoix before switching machine to slow cook. I'll also put in only enough liquid to just almost cover the contents. Either that, or I'll remove the meat and veggies and turn the machine onto the saute/sear function and reduce the liquid til it's thickened up to my liking. But overall good ideas. Thanks.
Have u ever used oxtail soup in ur stews? Its what my mum saways used, and I've continued. Tried other gravies, but always go back2 oxtail soup! I buy the tesco own brand cans. Love them
Oohh ok I am going to try that next time.. thanks for the tip.. I’ve never tried it before.. can I take other ingredients out if I use that or is that just instead of the stock? Xxx
@@KerryWhelpdale I just simner the meat, 🥕🌰 celery and leek together in a light beef stock with worcester sauce. I add the soup when its about 3/4 done and simmer. The soup is quite concentrated, so needs less time. U might need to lighten it2 taste with water also. Its really just trial snd error and ur familys taste. I normally add in frozen peas for last 5 mins also!
I've always used oxtail soup in my stew and dumplings - my mum did it, and her mother before her. I just dump the meat, sliced carrot, leeks, onions, celery, turnip and potatoes into the pot, 1 can of oxtail soup, and enough water to cover. Stir all together and then cook until the meat is tender. We have it once a week in winter.
@@gillianrimmer7733 yes love it too apart from turnip I dint use altho I do like it mashed. I tried stew in slow cooker but for some reason it always turns out TOO rich or intense I can't explain it but none of the family like itm otherwise my method is virtually identical to yours except I add in a fair whack of Worcestershire sauce when simmering and I boil or steam my potatos separately. @@sapphire22011, you should try adding potatoes into the stew rather than cooking them separately - they absorb a lot of the flavour and make it less 'intense'. If cooking in the slow cooker, I add them halfway through cooking to stop them disintegrating before it's cooked.

Why can't you cook these dishes in a large pot on the cooker ? I don't understand what are the advantages of the slow cooker ?
Fit
W
Pre-prepped? Do you mean prepped? Or even simpler - prepared.
Have you ever tried a pressure cooker to cook dinner? ❤️
why are the sauces so runny
Why did you put oil in a stone pan, so bad for them.
I don't have a slow cooker.
My problem with your recipe #1 is the absence of ingredient portions 🤷🏻♀️
The only thing that puts me off using a slow cooker is that everything that is cooked in is watery, why is that
Unlike traditional methods, with a slow cooker the steam just condenses on the lid and turns back into water and drips back into the dish. You can thicken *most* dishes with some corn starch (corn flour and a little water mixed into a paste) around 30 minutes before your dish is finished.

I can’t imagine cod in a slow cooker? It only takes minutes to cook, seems pointless.
