While I won’t agree with Lily on this I will say there’s something special about those ramen cup noodles, it’s like comfort food
Idk man, I personally never felt good about eating those and I have absolutely 0 nostalgia for them years after I stopped having them
@@gelena31 you might've been buying the 25-50¢ stuff. They sell good instant ramen
@@JACpotatos I kinda like chomping on the dry noodle pack
The "something special" with Ramen cup noodles is meth
@@gelena31 nah pretty sure it's nostalgia from the good old days of being a broke college student
This food take better have a landslide victory in this year’s awards vote
it's too early in this cycle.
give garnt some time he'll blow up the internet again with another shit food take.
Lilly is right about one thing:
It’s not authentic AT ALL to deep fry shit, put avocado, and cream cheese in sushi, but god DAMN is it sometimes EXACTLY what hits the spot and is sometimes superior
It's kinda like Taco Bell, it is as far from Mexican food as you can get, but sometimes I don't want authentic Mexican, I want to ruin my body.
@@Mijal15 I don't want to "ruin my body" ... I want to *Test my Constitution.*
@@JeedyJay I think we just have a difference in confidence
Lily: "i like packaged ramen more"
The boys (especially Joey): *fuming*
Joey was holding back a 100 years of Japanese ancestry from going berserk 🤣
"British food sucks!"
- just imagine gordons ramsays face lol
Gordon Ramsay doesn't really cook British food. He's trained in French cuisine.
He's Scottish...
@@YouTv4G Scotland is part of Britain...
@@MiniDemonic he still likes and cooks british food.
He gets pissed off when people shit on UK food.
@@Purwapada there should be a video called “UK Food: Michael Reeves vs Gordon Ramsay”
As a Mexican I approve of beans on rice
Cómo Méxicano me encanta un par de tortillas con un poco de aguacate y sal :)
reunanse los fans de trash taste de mexico!! 🇲🇽
Beans on rice, with carnitas? Best meal.
Yooo
Eso iba a decir xd. Al menos en Perú frijoles o lentejas se comen siempre con arroz. Es un plato conocido incluso
Find someone that looks at you the way Lilypichu looks at pancakes
I think Lily' "hot take" on ramen is partly due to how goddamm expensive (especially $1.50 for one seaweed) it is here, especially in California/LA/Bay Area, etc.). Like, why pay hella while you can make "sad 1am instant ramen" at home, where you can add your own eggs/etc.
I think Lily should have a permanent seat On trash taste. The way her takes cause everyone in the room to recoil in agony in their seats while she just sits there nodding like
"yup -____-"
Brilliant.
Saw it coming cuz she's korean. Shin Ramyun hits way different, I totally get it. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Though personally I categorize them differently.
Everyone including the viewers got physically taken aback in sync when Lily said that even though we all had already read the title
least heinous trash taste food take
This girl is just spitting one hot take after another. Mad.
In Germany you can often get free tap water. And tap water in Germany has higher standards than bottled water. So never go for still bottled water
What I noticed when I visited Europe is that they expect you to order a drink before they take your food order. Be it beer, wine, appartiff, etc. Even if you don't drink alcohol they expect you do order something. Which is where sparkling water comes in. So carbonated water is not a substitute for water but for alcohol.
I don't know maybe it's not a thing in Germany but I definitely noticed this custom in Italy, France, and Spain.
@@amsd1231 I'd say it doesn't matter what you order to drink before you order your meal. It's just usual to order drinks first in Europe i guess
I think there is something to Lily preference to instant ramen. In college while writing a paper on ramen, I read an article that talked about the way Bonito (ingredient for ramen broth) is made. At the time of the article only one tradition way of making the bonito was left, the Nagasaki style. However, for instant ramen Bonito is made in an industrial way instead. The article also talked about a study between people that ate ramen with Nagasaki Bonito vs. Industrial Bonito. What the article claimed was that people that ate ramen with industrial Bonito lost the ability to taste Nagasaki Bonito. This could explain why Lily likes instant ramen over homemade ramen, she is losing the ability to taste the homemade which makes the instant seem more flavorful.
This is how you know Lily is truly Korean
This feels like saying "I like microwave dinner steak more than a restaurant steak"
this podcast is more food takes than anime takes :D and i love it
It is indeed the premier version. The incredibly tasty spicyness and the taste is impecable
Another contender for the years award
"scotish ramen" LMAO that killed me
I personally like real ramen more than instant ramen, but 'real ramen' takes real time and effort to make - and definitely costs more if you decide to order it at a ramen shop. Most instant ramen is cheap, and you can make it in just a couple minutes on the stove or in a microwave.
Time vs. Money vs. Quality is a constant battle...
if you ever find it check out the sun noodle ramen, very good broth and fresh noodles, only takes a few minutes, I usually toss in some fishballs and misc veggies and call it a day, legit almost as good as restaurant ramen
Most ramen places in Tokyo, you can get a really good bowl for under $6 and made in 2 minutes. Also the extra effort lies in getting dressed, grab money, keys and walking to the corner for ramen, at least for me.
I just like how Grant soul imediatly tries to leave his body at 9:48, Connor start curssing a take worst than his own, and Joey face as the japanese guy of the conversation silently raises an eyebrow, 10/10 reaction sinergy from the boys at what should be the worst food take this podcast ever heard.
American breakfasts are so carb heavy because our government subsidizes farmers for growing corn and grain.
So, actual conspiracy, the food pyramid was given a large bottom part for bread and grains because of that. Also they ran ad campaigns to introduce more carbs in breakfasts to make sure 1/3 of all meals contain a large portion of grain and corn.(corn being a base ingredient in a lot of cereal puffs/flakes, corn syrup that is in a lot of breakfast foods, and ect.)
Also we emphasized the importance of breakfast to make sure that 1/3 of our meals are grain and corn heavy.
I fuck with French breakfast foods. Beignets, Croissants, Chaussons aux Pommes, Croque Madame, cheese omelette, so much good stuff.
This reminds me of my experience with orange chicken dishes. As someone who was raised on Panda Express orange chicken, other recipes for it tasted off. I never went to China to try a version there, so I can't say I know. In an American city, I tried tens of restruants version of orange chicken in an experiment to see if I can find a different recipe I enjoy. I just realized I have basic bitch tastebuds and enjoy the hell out of Panda Express's orange chicken recipe.
Panda Express invented Orange Chicken. It's not a Chinese dish. So essentially all other versions are knock-offs
@@Ash_Wen-li Fascinating
You like what you like, nothing bad about that.
3:01 also known as Morcilla, Salchica Tajada or Cuajulada. First time i hear the English name for it
LOVE how Lilypichu just DECIMATED the crew with her Ramen take. And fair enough, it's a completely different experience for decades, outside of Japan. And within, somewhat.
9:45 Halfway thru she realizes she equated korean ramen to all instant ramen. Granted as far as instant ramen, it's the best. But claiming fresh noodles and bone broth that's been boiling overnight are worse? Clown ass take.
Bruh sometimes the broth and the noodles suck and instant is good even when you prepare it wrong. Especially Korean ramen.
Jellied Eels are the thing people meme on but they are 100% a thing, its not sold on every corner but its a real thing they serve in some resturants.
Having had some pretty dope ass Ramen, it doesn't compare, but I have had some pretty amazing cup ramen. The creation of them is an art form and really is something that has been hitting me hard since pandemic started.
while instant ramen will never be better then actual ramen, i will never turn down a bag of indomie, you'd be crazy to turn that good shit down
Lily: “cup noodles > authentic ramen”
Conner: *shook*
Garnt: *dying inside*
Joey: *dissapointed*
Take starts at 9:45
9:56 shots fired
Beans on toast hits just right a lot of the time.
> TTH and Lily talking about full English/Japanese/American breakfasts with different courses
> Me drinking an espresso and eating a store-bought brioche
bro maybe its the europian talking but watching lily sith there with a fucking hoody while we have like 35°C makes me get a heatstroke
9:52
Uncle Roger approved! Fuiyoh!
The pancakes are perfect. Everything else taste like any other English muffin sandwich
Lily fitting in with the boys
This is sacrilege
Business as usual when it comes to Lily.
Before watching, i had a feeling Conner was somehow rant about some food that made other ppl go 👀👀👀
Holy crap I just found out she's with Michael Reeves. He lived with William Osman so did they meet through Connor when he did Safety 3rd?
They have been with each other for like 3 years now mate lol.
I can agree with Lily that Korean instant ramen with some extra's thrown in is better than ramen at most american ramen restaurants. I don't know, I always found the taste of Japanese restaurant ramen to be boring and bland. Not enough spice, tang, something is just missing.
kara-ramen, fix your problem.
and where do you eat ramen? in the US? or japan?
Yeah I can see this, most of the ramen I ate in Japan were more on Richer flavors and not enough zing I guess
That sounds like the opinion of every person I know that likes spicy. I very seldom eat anything spicy so I've never needed extra "zing" to my food. The traditional flavor is already fantastic already.
Her first time on trash taste and already making questionable food takes.
It's nostaglic but no way it's better 💀
Nothin nostalgic about instant ramen
If pancakes are too sweet, its your own fault. Tell me what about flour, water, egg, and baking powder is sweet?
I don't think it's the cake itself but it's what comes on top of it.
@@amsd1231 which you choose to put on top. My point stands. It's your fault if your pancakes are too sweet. 😉
@@pvtpy1e lol you're barking up the wrong tree bud. I don't eat pancakes nor any of the standard American breakfast items, so I don't choose to put anything on my pancakes.
Back to the main point, who gives a flying fuck about how YOU eat your pancakes because the standaed American restaurants all serve them doused in syrup. Or if you're eating the pancake mix there's more sugar in there than in a can of coke. Either way, for most people, pancake=a bag of sugar.
@@amsd1231 no they don't. The syrup is on the side. That's my point. I don't know of any American restaurant that will pre douse your pancakes.
Okay pancakes are different then when made from scratch most do not have sugar in the mix and the origin for pancakes for breakfast was to start the day with a high energy meal that carry you until noon. Most people know don't work as hard or intensely as they used to so a pancake is to heavy for breakfast for the average person today
Spoken like a true artistic person, cup noodles is their food culture
Jokes aside, cup noodles rocks
I always think about Western Sushi and Japanese Sushi almost as different products. It’s like comparing a McDonalds burger with a gourmet burger. The gourmet burger is the original and better but sometimes a McDonalds burger just hits different. Both are good in different ways and contexts
Lilypichu has every right opinion on food wtf, she's me
haha I feel kinda guilty for liking instant ramen more as well.. real ramen just tends to be too rich for me. though at least I prefer real udon to both.
As someone who lived in Japan, I rarely ate sushi, but boi did I eat a lot of Yakinuiku, Ramen and Curry.
Thats the fucking same idea with Connor when he said that chain Pizza is better than Baked Pizza
Best food taste award.
I love beans on toast. It's not the best breakfast in the world but it is very easy to make.
I can see it. Instant/Cup Ramen is easy to eat and something about how cheap it is makes it more satisfying. Although OG Ramen is better
I have to be in a certain mood to eat Actual Ramen. Because it’s so heavy and after 4 mouthfuls of it I’ve experienced everything I need to with the dish. But I paid a lot of money so I have to finish it and it just becomes painful.
I mean, OG ramen is definitely NOT a food that you can neither should eat everyday, it's mean to consume time to time because it's basically a deluxe food.
Not gonna lie, i watched this eating beans on toast. I feel called out
I don't really get the comment section.... They forgor this is a Trash Taste podcast....
well scotish ramen would also be pretty spicy if you pour wisky in it haha
Pretty sure you can get sushi rolls with Avocado in it in Japan. Don't remember the vtuber but one of the hololive girls definitely mentioned having it and liking it, pretty sure it was even in a collab and the other girls either agreed or said it sounded good and were going to get it.
Also Ramen is literally just fancy noodle soup but Japanese.
Crabby patty
*Krabby
If Spongebob context.
The instant ramen taste is not the same as regular ramen. It makes sense that she likes instant more than regular since it just isn't really comparable at all.
Ive never disagreed with someone so strongly xD
You know what the American version of Beans on toast is? A bean and cheese burrito. . . .
Instant ramen is good for its consistency which is sometimes better than poorly made ramen.
9:40 for title
Beans on toast is amazing, especially Serbian beans
Lilys taste sounds terrible unholy
full english is honestly kino if you work any physicaly demanding jobs
just protine fats and carbs, and enough calories to get you not only thru the morning but thru the afternoon since THEY INCREASED THE PRICE OF THE FUCKING MEAL DEAL
shes looking at it as value vs flavor. shin ramen, price is low while the flavor is good. LA ramen restaurant, the value is higher, but the flavor is incrementally better. that small increase in flavor doesnt justify the huge increase in price. you could get like 10 packets of shin ramen regular or 5 packets of shin ramen black compared to 1 bowl of LA ramen. now in japan or in korea, restaurant ramen cost a lot less and could skew it towards restaurant ramen.
Bruh, never in my life i heard something so controversial in my life
Taste-wise both are comparable but your body hates you when you eat cup/instant ramen. I always feel it immediately or several hours after, like my joints hate me for the salt/preservatives .
At that point, I'd tell her to get out.
pidgeon mode
Beans on toast or other bread is Mexican too.
Hawaii's McDonald's breakfast menu is the best McDonald's breakfast menu.
The easy to cook, affordability and accessibility of it is a big reason for me.
I know how to cook Ramen and basically any Dish but the simplicity of just boiling water to cook food is way better sometimes when you're too lazy to wash the dishes or prepare the ingredients not including the actual buying them too lol.
I love eating cup noodles more but it doesn't mean it tastes better than good ramen.
Not really a problem of money but more on just what I'm used to I guess
American McDonald’s breakfast pancake is different to UK McDonald’s breakfast pancake.
From experience, the UK one is shit. Never had the American one.
She speaks the truth.
Where TF was Lily in Germany? The only Water I ever paid for was Botteled
Scottish ramen is just ramen with a scotch egg
Rice for breakfast is top tier
I honestly agree with Lily that instant ramen is just better, especially if it's Korean ramen. I'm not a fan of how expensive Japanese ramen is especially on the west coast when there's a cheaper option that tastes better at home. Also just not a fan of how rich the broth is
Idk i want to recommend the Indonesia brand is REALLY! Really good like "Indomie and mie Sedaap"
She said Shin ramyun, not cup noodles like the thumbnail. They don’t exist in the same galaxy. I literally can’t make myself swallow cup ramen, while shin is of the best things you could have the pleasure of eating.
Try the Stir Fry ones.
I agree I prefer instant ramen over real ramen
If you like instant ramen more than actual ramen, I don't know what but there is definitely something wrong with you
Ok what is it with Emily and Lily liking instant ramen better than actual ramen? Like WTF!?
I'm chinese and I prefer shin ramen. It's the bomb and my go to for night time snack.
mcgriddles make me vomit, but not because i don't like them, but because they literally just make me sick even if i enjoyed it
i have never eaten instant noodles, not once. why eat them ? are they for people who cant cook ?
Ramen in Japan is incredible, it's not even on the same level as instant. I like instant, but it's not better than authentic Japanese ramen, thats a crazy thing to say.
I’d say they’re about equal in my eyes
I prefer real ramen over the artificial store stuff.
Korean instant noodles tastes SO good and hits better than Japanese ramen.
even instant ramen beats american ramen
does this mean she gets clown of the year as well?
a contender for sure
Korean instant ramen is seriously good though
This title.... is a hot take....
