Always LOVED the voice of Huey Lewis.
Yes!
Huey doesn’t get enough appreciation. Killer performance and real likable guy. Amazing soulful rock singer who sounded like nobody else and made real fun and feel-good rock and roll that made the 80: so great.
Absolutely agree
The fact that SPORTS was able to ascend to #1 on the Billboard 200 in 1984 is quite a feat. The competition was FIERCE. Only five albums made the summit that year: Thriller, The Soundtrack from Footloose, SPORTS, Born in the USA and Purple Rain.
Huey is the man!
Right on
I saw Huey Lewis and the News in concert a couple of times, and they were always wonderful, energetic shows - usually with the Tower of Power accompanying the News.
Screams 80'S Basic but clean and pure
What an amazing album that was. Great performance and interview!
The story behind this gig was that Letterman couldn't afford the whole band, as they had become quite expensive. Huey actually stated that the backing band was so good, that he could have taken them on the road without any issues, good to go, on the bus, let's go. Love Paul back in his day, all spidey behind the keyboards. God I miss Letterman
World most dangerous band best late night band ever.
But listen to News band mate Johnny delivering killer backing vocals!
Saw Huey Lewis and the News with a friend at Jones Beach in the summer of ‘01 or ‘02 during the “Plan B” tour. I was working for Tower Records at the time and the manager gave me her comp tickets because she couldn’t attend. In addition, these tickets included a pre-show hang out with Huey and the band. The show was amazing and Huey sounded fantastic, still hitting all those powerful high notes. After the show, and even though our tickets did NOT include a post-show meeting, we were nonetheless able to get in and got to relax and drink and hang out with Huey. He was the nicest guy. Totally cool and down to earth. It was easily one of the best concert going experiences of my life. ✌️
Love Huey, and what a great album!
This feels like old home week. Growing up and working my early days in NorCal, I saw HL&TN at every venue imaginable. From stadiums to bars. Never a bad performance.
The News is a good band, but Paul and the boys turned that into straight up Funk! ❤🤘
Yeah, i like HLN and Paul early music more
I watched this episode when it originally aired!
Hope Huey is doing well! Saw Huey Lewis and the News several times, I hope he's enjoying life
I love that this performance wasn't just a carbon coby reproduction of the original
Paul and the band rocked it
I love this guy's music
Huey stood the TEST OF TIME...There it is....
Love Huey!
The answer is always Yes, I do like Huey Lewis and the News
Huey appeared again on Late Night circa 1987 and was able to bring "The News" with him. Hell, now that I think about it, I'm sure Don posted the clip on here somewhere.
Get your juice from Goose at the Deuce where hangovers are serviced and installed ✌️
I thought Huey and the band were going to play 2 songs I never heard before...the first being..."Snuck onto an Airplane".
His work career sounds like mine 😂
Nice is Nice.
Great gig from the early days of Letterman. Johnny Cola playing the sax was in rare form. He looked like he was really digging the scene, although the band could have been far nicer to him, just ignored him completely
Their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own; commercially and artistictly. The whole album has a clear crisp sound and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost.
I always laugh at the height of the ride cymbal of this drummer!
That's Steve Jordan and he just replaced the late Charlie Watts as the touring drummer for the Rolling Stones.
@@suprchickn7745 I'm sorry to hear that😐
Is that bobby martin from Zappa's band playing saxophone for Huey? He looks identical. Where are my zappa heads help me out haha

By who? STOP SAYING THIS, PEOPLE!!!
Anyone know who is filling in for Hiram Bullock on Lead?
Try doing that now
HOF where are you?
"Sneaked" (just saying). Wow, music back then sounded so...musical. But where are the computers? I didn't see one...
Is this a reference to Jennifer Gardner?
Those guys are just too darn loud.
Nothing beats a Back to the Future reference 👍
@@chiefscheider
Or a Jaws reference for that matter 😉
Who is that guitar player?
…cause that sure as hell wasn’t Hiram.
It's free advertising. They should have just come for free.
Wish he would have thrown out his Lizzy days
:)
It's to darn loud
