I’ve been a fan since 1985, saw them in concert numerous times, got backstage in 1988. They invited all the wheelchairs backstage for their 10th anniversary. I got to meet Chris Hayes (lead guitar) and Huey. He was super nice and a memory I’ll have forever! 😊
Once the haircells inside the cochlea die out, they won't grow back. It is unfortunate, but that is how it goes. The fact that Huey has Menieres disease will make his hearing issues even more complicated, since it's a disease caused by the inner ear fluid pressure growing too big, causing damage to the haircells, basicly slowly destroying ones hearing. Inner ear damage and hearing loss will also come with such conditions as tinnitus, which is a constant ringing/ beeping/ hissing etc. in the ear and hyperacusis, which means that you become overly sensitive to certain types of sounds, especially loud ones.
You could tell just from his short interview from Hueys Behind the Music episode that Dr. Craig , Hueys father, was a different kinda dude. I kind of wish my own father would have had a little bit of that parenting style. My dad overloaded me with love buuuut parental guidance or advice wasn’t his specialty. Huey is the coolest 70 something ever.
Have loved Huey since first appeared on MTV. I was very excited to see them perform at King's Island (Cincinnati), for Senior Skip Day, in late Spring 1983. Hoping your hearing gets better.
Love you Huey❤ Praying your hearing will improve as well as related medical condition 🙏🙏🙏 I've been your fan since 1983. "❤ HEART AND SOUL♥️" ,1st. Song I heard, saw you in concert 2 weeks later in1983 and then in 2013. Your music 🎵 will live on FOREVER ♥️🎵 Always your fan Rita♥️
I was producing video on the road in the 80's and we accidentally happened upon a small club where Huey Lewis and the News were playing...it was a "joint" bowling alley next door and pool tables. He was incredible....saw him 4 or 5 times after that...Smart...talented...sexy.. funny... He is the best.
Huey’s first Gold Album hangs on the wall behind the bar at the 2AM Club in Mill Valley, California. They also shot one of their music videos there. I knew his half-brother Jeff while living there in the late 1980’s.
Very nice interview. Love the road stories, those were the days :) Interesting to hear about how the music business has changed. I could relate to what he was saying about how they owned your work (and you). Too much greed. They wouldn't let you be yourself. They still won't. I did not do well with that aspect of it, part of the reason I got out of it. So much incredible music, and money, was lost b/c of that. Went on to reinvent myself several times. What does a musician do if they don't play music? Go back to school for a million years, dabble in mechanical drafting, travel a little, camp a lot, get an EMT and study medicine... burn a little sage and pray for peace - Especially liked the no-bu*lsh** ending.
Why are there 4 comments (out of 17 total -- probably 18 after this comment posts) from supposedly different people that all say exactly the same thing? "Huey turns 70 this year, yet he doesn't look a day over 40, maybe 50." Bots?
Because ppl are too eager to post & too lazy to read other ppl’s comments. It could be worse though. At least there’s no one saying “Who’s still listening in 2020?” Most overused & obnoxious comment ever.
Huey, I'm having a hard time understanding something you said. Jimmy said his cousin STOLE a box of cassette tapes in which was your tape, Picture This. Then you said, "that was the best day of my life". Knowing that your hearing is not as good as it used to be, did you not hear what Jimmy actually said or, do you really believe that someone STEALING your work was the best day of your life?
I had a guy in my band by the name of Steve Miller he always had his guitar 🎸 over his back ,btw this guy wasn't the singer Steve Miller.however he was one hell of a guitarist
So you'd rather have some conservative like Rush Limbaugh who probably doesn't know a darn thing about Huey's career be the interviewer? That makes no sense to me.
@@MrGL1973 I know they are friends and Hurt son works for Kimmel but I'm tired of Kimmel crap. It's just like screwing over football with kapernick. It's was nice to turn into late night t.v. without all the LEFT bs like Letterman. That's what I'm saying.
I’ll ask this again. How are Huey Lewis and the News NOT in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Criminal.
Gahdamrite
Because the RRHoF is a fucking joke.
Preach it!
Huey Lewis had a beat that would wake up the dead. His songs were flat out fun to hear & sing.
l have loved Huey Lewis before his big album Sports. I wish all the best for him and his band.
Huey Lewis is the quintessential “heart”of rock n roll.
Rock on!! 🎸🎤

Huey is a legend. This is great! The new album is wonderful.

Love this man's music and he was always talented, it is so sad about his hearing loss, I wish him well and hope to see him one day.

“Don’t go to college yet. Take a year off and travel the world” What a great dad! That’s the best advice I can think of for the young.
Been a fan since 1982. Saw them live in 1991. Best two hours of my life so far!
News, Sports and Weather.... So well done .... Everything done to be funny, every detail done properly.

Jimmy gets the wrong video with the ice water - it's "I Want A New Drug".
awesome

I don’t agree with Jimmy Kimmel’s politics but I appreciate him being a fan of Huey Lewis like me!
31:06, What is “Q quotient” asked the Musician,..?
Huey can you huey me? Is what I heard in the beginning. Also, at 1:33 Jimmy Kimmel should have said, "Well that's a nice side erect."

Oh yeah, Charles Mingus used to come over to the house, no biggie....
Huey, go carnivore!! This diet is healing so many people from so many things!!! I still need to see you in concert!

I'm waiting for Huey to be asked why he is wearing green glasses.
That's huey. He is just being sexy wearing green glasses. It's like a photo grey type.

I hate Jimmy Kimmel. He ruins everything.
Ooooooo lot of delicate MAGA folks butthurt by Jimmy.
Way to ruin a great interview. Comments never disappoint.
I love Huey Lewis but can't listen to Bob Dillon
They're both great in their own way.
Tom Arnold
