LOVE HUEY! I actually met HUEY in Caesars Palace in Las Vegas (the early 90s) at 5am on a Sunday in the very empty casino. He was on the house phone waiting for something. The night before, he and the band did a show in the main showroom. We broke into a chat for a bit. Super cool guy; especially at that time in the morning. Huey's artistic contribution to the BTTF movie was like the perfect icing on the perfect cake. Nobody else could've pulled off doing both a theme soundtrack and a cameo appearance except him.

So many great records. Personally, I love the Small World album and I'm glad to hear Huey Lewis talk about it here, even though it was not a big seller. The jazz influence, the variety of styles that it explores, and the risks that the band takes give it a unique place in the discography. I wrote Lewis a letter once to express my gratitude for this album and he was kind enough to write back.
I was friends with his road manager (Uli Perez) in 1986, and we did a few concerts and after parties with Huey and the band, all lovely people. I saw the band right before they broke big in late November at a packed college bar in Youngstown Ohio. The really rocked the place. No one could dance because we were packed in so tightly. It was so hot and sweaty inside and outside it was freezing. On the walk to the car by glasses fogged up solid. A month later they would be MTV staples. The next summer we saw them again at Blossom and they drew over 20,000. Some of the best times of my life. I will always love this great band.

Huey and his crew was a very foundational aspect of my childhood. I hear the music 40 years later and it still holds my life and memories close to my heart. I deal with tinnitus and it's terrible to not be able to hear it like I used to, but the thoughts and feelings and memories are all still loud as ever. Very grateful to the artistic blessing of this group of guys.
Saw them on the 4th of July on the beach at Camp Pendleton with the fireworks & we learned he too was in the Marine Corps. This was the early 90s. With the music playing& the fireworks blasting I kissed a beautiful young lady. Thanks for the great memory Huey. What great fun. To be young again!

love Huey. seen The News several times, and they never disappointed. sad to think i won't get a chance to see them again if Huey's hearing can't be helped. Take care, Huey, and thank you for all the music and memories. One of the greats.
"Picture This" is my favorite. It was my first HL&TN cassette and really captures a turning point in music in the early '80s. The songs are mostly quirky, goofy and fun and yet their influences, camaraderie and musicianship are all upfront. "Tattoo" (co-written with Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy) is an earworm with Huey smashing his absolute highest range. "Do You Believe In Love" is a Mutt Lange tune. "Is It Me" is a sweet throwback ballad with a haunting sax solo. "Buzz Buzz Buzz" wraps up a collection of uplifting nostalgia tunes while signaling more of this to come. Check it all out, if you haven't. It's a real treat!
So, so glad he added “Small World, Part Two” to his list of favourites. Definitely one of my “go-to” tunes, and that album is definitely my favourite, although I pretty much love anything they’ve put out. Got to see them back in 2018 in Niagara Falls....had shivers up and down the entire show!
With such great groups in the 80s, like Dire Straits, Tears for Fears, INXS, Bon Jovi, etc., Huey Lewis and the News was always my all time favorite (although I will admit that my guilty pleasure were the Bangles. There, I admit it). Huey Lewis was here in Chile, and the people that met him said he was a real down to earth guy. Hope he gets better of his hearing, he's still got years of good music left in him.
Having come of age in the 70s - I hated 80's music. But all these decades later - I'm finally appreciating at least some of those bands. INXS especially. I don't know why I thought they were so bad. Their albums sound great to me now!
I've been a fan of HLN since their first album. I first saw them in concert in 1987 in Tucson, Arizona while they were supporting "Fore!"--I paid a whopping $15 for the ticket--and the next time I saw HLN was at Harrah's Cherokee in Cherokee, North Carolina, in 2017. To be honest, they hadn't changed to my ears. Huey's voice still sounded like it did in '87 and I still enjoyed the concert very, very much. It's terrible what's happened to his hearing and I hope that he can overcome his disorder. "Weather" is a great album if you haven't heard it. Much love to HLN for being a huge part of my growing up in the 80s and being part of my music collection today ... and all the great memories.
God Bless Ya, Huey!! Will be Praying for restoration with your hearing! So Jazzed I finally got to see them live 6 yrs ago! And they can still Bring It!! Very much looking forward to picking up and hearing those last 3 most recent albums! Can't wait to hear Weather!! 🎸😎👍
As a mobile DJ since 1979, I always loved their cover of “Little Bitty Pretty one” when I did my swing set. The production on that song was so good. Also, the New and their backup vocals to Huey’s voice was so iconic to their sound and something I was always drawn to.
I've always liked Huey. I find him very unpretentious, down to earth and happy to just be himself. I think he should have added "Hip To Be Square" to his all-time best list! Thank you, Huey for making the '80s great!
Glad Huey gave us an update regarding his hearing loss, perhaps he could tour again in the future if his hearing stabilizes( his word). Miss going to his concerts, always fun, HL&TN fans know how to have fun, and HL&TN are great live, musically speaking.
I've loved Huey and his music all my musical life, thanks to Back to the Future. His early stuff really rocks and they've branched out just enough to keep it interesting but didn't alienate fans. Hope we hear you sing again soon Huey!
Thanks for coming to Halifax so many years ago. I couldn't go to the concert but happy to be there at the gift shop which you visited me with your presence One on one! Stay strong and healthy and keep making the world a better place!
I've always loved the production of the first album. First heard it in the early eighties before Sports came out. It just had a great raw quality to it. Hope everything stabilizes soon.
Dude has the golden personality, we all get humbled and I totally understand the hearing thing when it comes to singing, I just can't do it playing drums, can't track my voice internally as much as I thought I could.. Good luck Brother.
I became aware of this band when I saw Do You Believe in Love on MTV. Great video and great tune! I've been enjoying the heck out of them ever since. Good to see Huey and he looks great! P.S. So sorry to hear about the hearing problems. But even if what he has done already has to be enough, it certainly is! Wishing Huey and the band all the best for the future!

Amazing that he was hanging out with Creedence and John McFee back in 1968.
I’m afraid you guys are just too darn loud.
This is all I came to find. Thank you!
Perfect
Wasn't that in a pink floyd interview 🤣
Lol
My favorite band of all time.
One of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time
what a legend
Weather is great Huey! Her love is killing me has that Huey Lewis and the News sound. And I hope you're hearing gets to a point where you can sing again.
The first album (Huey Lewis and the News) is the album I listen to the most.
love Huey. seen The News several times, and they never disappointed. sad to think i won't get a chance to see them again if Huey's hearing can't be helped.
So glad I stumbled across this. I never got to see him live and that is a shame. If / When he tours again I can't wait to go and take my daughter!
This guy is an icon. LOVE Picture This. I know Sports is the classic Huey Lewis and The News record but PT is my fave. ❤️
Thanks, Huey and Co.!
Always liked Huey.
Like him even more now.
I think I'll go listen to some of his music.
Glad Huey gave us an update regarding his hearing loss, perhaps he could tour again in the future if his hearing stabilizes( his word). Miss going to his concerts, always fun, HL&TN fans know how to have fun, and HL&TN are great live, musically speaking.
Three Words
I Love Huey
I've loved Huey and his music all my musical life, thanks to Back to the Future. His early stuff really rocks and they've branched out just enough to keep it interesting but didn't alienate fans. Hope we hear you sing again soon Huey!
Some of My Lies Are True off the first album has always been a favorite of mine.
Thanks for coming to Halifax so many years ago. I couldn't go to the concert but happy to be there at the gift shop which you visited me with your presence One on one! Stay strong and healthy and keep making the world a better place!
as an all-time fan of Huey Lewis Blacklist brought me here - RIP Glen Carter (your real muse and source of ideas)
LOVE me some Huey Lewis and the News!!!! Small World is so underrated.
PLEASE KEEP THIS SERIES GOING !!!
I was so lucky to see Huey Lewis & The News on July, 20,1997, at The Barns at Wolf Trap, Washington, DC. I look at him as an older brother but a good example of my generation. Thank you, brothers!
Huey Lewis and the News were awesome all throughout the 80's.
On a side note I wanna new drug for the current times we're in.
Saw Huey Lewis live in 2014. Always loved him and the bands stuff.
Hence this is why Huey Lewis & The News are one of the greatest Bay Area groups ever!
