LYRICS
I have a picture
Pinned to my wall
An image of you and of me and
We're laughing and loving it all
But look at our life now
All tattered and torn
We fuss and we fight and
Delighting with tears
As we cry until dawn
Oh, whoa
Hold me now, whoa
Warm my heart
Stay with me
Let loving start
(Let loving start)
You say I'm a dreamer
We're two of a kind
Both of us searching
For some perfect world
We know we'll never find
So perhaps I should leave here
Yeah, yeah, go far away
But you know that there's nowhere
That I'd rather be
Than with you here today
Oh, whoa, oh, whoa
Hold me now, whoa
Warm my heart
Stay with me
Let loving start
(Let loving start)
Hold me now, whoa
Warm my heart
Stay with me
Let loving start
(Let loving start) whoa
You ask if I love you
Well, what can I say?
You know that I do
And that this is just one
Of those games that we play
So I'll sing you a new song
Please don't cry any more
I'll even ask your forgiveness
Though I don't know
Just what I'm asking it for
Oh, whoa, oh, whoa
Hold me now, whoa
(Hold me in your loving arms)
Warm my heart
(Warm my cold and tired heart)
Stay with me
(Ooohooohooo stay with me)
Let loving start
Let loving start
Hold me now, whoa
(Hold me in your loving arms)
Warm my heart
(Warm my cold and tired heart)
Stay with me
(Ooohooohooo stay with me)
Let loving start
Let loving start

Doesn't this song make you feel so good inside and sad at the same time because you can't go back to the 80s?
Yes 🥰 😢 ma'am
it does, indeed.
Yep. Id like to go back😭💔👣🙏
Yeah 😢 The best time of my life ❤. Would love to go back.
Nope.
An 80s masterpiece
J'm an Italian fan 58 years old and j have a big dream for me It's criminal that a band like them isn't playing their Art anymore J'd like to suggest a maybe utopistic proposal: why all' the fans that still love them so much and we'll always do won't all make a petition a collection of signatures and send to all' of them asking to reform their fantastic band?Maybe it's a crazy idea but why we don't try and proove Them how much we still love Them j really hope someone will join my idea

I was 12 when this song was released in North America. I’m still enjoying it in 2024. A more happy, undeveloped time. The 80s was a fun time.
Mee tooo! I was a super super Thompson Twins fan
Nice one! ☺️Their music was an anthem for the 80s. Like a lot of bands that made music then. It really defied a decade, in a happy way. To me the 80s felt like it was summer all the time😌☀️☀️
I agree so much, song are getting boring lately
Back in those days. Music was still meant for freedom! Look at the 60s, 70s. The 80s was a natural progression from something beautiful, into something more beautiful! There was so many interesting styles in the 80s. From punk to new wave to reggae and so on.✌️
Me and my brother owned a gym back in the 80’s this song was always on. MTV. He died last month. I played this song while taking his ashes out to sea 🌊. Rip bro 😎. See u down the road.
(((HUGS)))
God bless you....
Hold those memories close ❤
God speed

GOD BLESS YOU
I was in middle school when this came out. I heard it on the radio and made my parents sit in the car with me in the garage until it was done. The production, arrangement, songwriting -- all gorgeous. I decided at that moment I would be a professional musician and music producer. And that's what I am. I'll always be grateful to Tom Bailey and crew for that moment, and this song, in my life.
Amazing moment… sometimes that’s all it takes 😊❤
Just want to say that I subscribed to your channel just because of your antidote
Was in middle school, too, when it came out. Remember listening to it on my portable cassette player.
I mean it's ok, wouldn't say its near the best of the 80s
I hope u have listened 2 Japan & there songs, especially the album tin drum, will blow ure socks of, u will not b dissappointed, the production, arrangement, the togetherness in harmony is perfection
Was on a red-eye from SFO to Orlando FL to go to Navy boot camp on December 18, 1983, had a back row of seats all to myself. Fell asleep during flight with headphones on my ears, connected to plane's audio system. Hold Me Now along with a few other songs were in a continuous playing loop over a few hours I was asleep and this song is thankfully Ingrained in my head for life. Beautiful song along with Spandau Ballet's "True", and Simply Red's "Holding Back the Years". Good to see more of you out there appreciate the music.
Just got out of heart surgery 2 days ago and im singing this in my room
May you have a very speedy recovery!

Best of luck man.....
No way...Holding back tears so that I can watch this. Makes me realise that time is relative. While watching this, Im a young man. The older me, remembers the younger me.

Tears of gratitude and joy roll down my face as I reflect on the great memories that are attached to this timeless song. I was 14 in 1984 and 53 today. Great times back then. Damn it was so freakin awesome to be a teen in the 80's.
“A perfect World we’ll never see”, great lyric
I lived through the 80s with my sisters. What a great time! Driving around town with the top down listening to great music. Both sisters are gone and I just lost my dad. Now, the music that I love, makes me cry. 😢
It has been 40 years😢 where has time gone? I do miss the 80s💔
No kiddin on what happened to the time. LOL Remember back then when older people would tell us to pay attention to and enjoy life, it'll be gone before you know it? Yeah, I think we're experiencing that now. 😄

Yes, great memories of good times. I was in high school and the pleasure of watching this video was not as easy as it is today, we had to stay up and wait to see it, man these kids got it made today. i also think about my mom and how young she was then, but I thought she was old. Im Love The Music 1980
The best music and times
This song was on MTV all the time circa 1983 and 1984. Good times.
We had the best music ever. 70s & 80s will never be matched. We had it all.
Coming back from war to discover all is lost is not having it all.
100%
I'm 54. Grew up in 80s. But I'll let 90s sneak into our little club. I know R&B broke through, but it was tame. It was small enough to let pop & rock lead.
I'm old as hell, having lived through the '60s. Damn good music in that decade. The music of the 1980s, along with the great music videos, pretty well matched it. Amazing stuff. Which decade is better? Doesn't matter. You love what you love.

How lucky to have been living in the 80s with such good music. Here in Australia we also had the pub scene, great Aussie bands playing at your local pub, INXS, Midnight Oil, men at Work. Even AC/DC in the 70s. We had not a care in the world.
Thr Brits are without amy doubt blessed with musical talent. Its narural and they made my youth in the 80s so special.
I agree whole heartedly ❤
This is a New Zealand group
The Thompson Twins are actually British. Tom Bailey's ex-wife Alannah Currie was indeed from New Zealand. When they were married they lived in New Zealand until their divorce in 2003. Joe Leeway is now a hypno therapist in Tarzana California and a certified technician .@@dennisthorpe8134

Of innocence, excitement and beauty
Saw them in concert in 1984 (I think - could have been 83 or 85). I think they were touring to support their album Into The Gap. Small venue in upstate NY. It was fun. They played this song.
I had tickets to see The Police following their Synchronicity album. It was at the Hollywood Park race track (terrible venue) and there were several opening bands that were very big in the new wave genre. Berlin, The Fix, Thompson Twins then The Police. I was more of a rocker and was there for the Police. I must say that Berlin and The Fixx were ok, but The Thompson Twins absolutely killed it. I was shocked. I had heard a couple of their songs on MTV, but they really had a great sound and energy live. Every time I hear them I think of that day.
@ShannonMacri06489 Bummer. Some bands sound great in the studio but ho hum live. Not the Thompson twins, they were great
The mid-80's were my high school years. This song was always played at dances, and it brings back such fond memories of my late husband. 😊❤

Ultimate !!!!
Speaking as an Englishman (for indeed I am one), I don't think we should overlook the Celtic nations contribution to popular music during this period and beyond. When describing the incredible music and talent that has sprung forth from these islands, we should always use the term 'British.' Not a criticism, just an observation.
There were four bands I’d never miss seeing live in my 20s - Yes, Rush, and The Thompson Twins. I’ve just watched this video five times in a row. Love Joe’s slipping down the hill, Alannah’s wink, Tom’s every single move-it’s a masterpiece.

One of my favorites. I was in high school when it came out. Til this day, I still know the lyrics. A timeless gem.
One of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Perfection.
I''m an 80s girl, and I've loved this song ever since it was released, and then my then-16 -year-old son made me love it even more about ten years ago. We were driving back home from some errand, had the radio tuned to our local "oldies" station. "Hold Me Now " comes on, and I'm singing along with it until we pull into our driveway, and I turn off the ignition just after the TTs sing the line "both of us searching for some perfect world we know we'll never find". In the silent car, before we get out, my kid turns to me and deadpans "Now they're REALLY never gonna find that perfect world." Treasure those moments with your kids!
This is just one of those songs that will never die , a fantastic 80"s classic and probably one of my favourite tracks of that era from a very underrated group .
This is still one of my all time favorites. The song simply couldn’t be better. Thompson Twins did just a fantastic job on this. I associate the song with a real hot girl I’d met one summer.
