It's not that his voice is so great -- it's his whole stage presence. He is as energized by the song as we were on the dance floor. Watching him dance & be so fully absorbed in the song, sweating to the beat just as we did. His blond drummer is sooo beautiful. The band & his voice & this song are a perfect match.
"In April 2022, Coles announced that he retired from parish duties due to the Church of England allegedly increasingly excluding gay couples, and what he described as its "conservative, punchy and fundamentalist" direction." Sadly a common story here in the US at least. Christianity's turn to the hard right and especially it's embrace of Trump and his awfulness have led to conservative churches losing not just people, but a lot of the *best* people. Like Christ himself turning his back on the Pharisees, who conspired with the eponymously fascist Roman occupiers, and condemned the migrants, the sex worker, the divorcee, and had no alms to spare for the poor, the hungry, or the orphan. Hopefully this lead to something better than the backwards greed of the Vatican and the idolatrous "evangelicals" with their private jets and wicked "prosperity gospel" blasphemy. The new generation of young people is as hungry as ever for spiritual nourishment, but they are wise enough to see the poisoned fruit being offered for what it is.
