My Romer G switches (some of them) started to double type only after about 6 years of heavy use. Just a normal cleaning with Qq-tip and some alcohol would fix those, but now after 7 years one of the keys seems to be not responding to the cleaning anymore and I believe it might be the time for me to invest on a new keyboard. EDIT: Another cleaning did it. The key now works again perfectly.
my g910 started doing that after about 3 years of moderate uses. it seems that the double click issue have something to do with the fact that is have 2 contact point and a large gap on top which allows dust to get in easier than it should be.
Bro it's so funny why it's working with alcohol do you know? I feeding My g413 for 6 months during matchs like reloading,do you find any solution to fix
@@WARN1TE Alcohol is good for cleaning things, I think that's why its working. But it was too expensive to have an alcoholic keyboard so I replaced it already, that was my solution
woah 70% would actually leave some residue so you might be risking for a short circuit. just make sure to wait for a couple minutes to let it completely dry
I've got this issue with my logitech keyboard, the easiest way to clean the switch is: Pull off the caps and apply any contact cleaner direct into the contact just inside the switch hole (the write plastic with the hole in the center), and voi la, it is fixed, don't need to disassemble any parts!!!
It is definitely easy, but it may not last long. For me, every time it worked, but didn't last longer than a month, which was very nasty. I finally disassembled my g-pro to replace switches. I should've watched this video before doing that :) But I'm 100% sure the problem will come again so I'll do this way from next time. -- (Updated) My G-Pro has different structure from the video so I couldn't use the trick here :( The old G-pro like mine requires full disassemble to access the contact part unfortunately.
Bought the G413 Carbon and this skeyboard has been nothing but problems... 130 euros and the spacebar started doubleclicking after half a year. Got that fixed under warranty and bought some random Redragon keyboard they had at the store. Got the keyboard back, but didn't end up using it for like a year because I liked the Redragon more. Finally decided to plug it in again, now after a couple months the D key randomly doesn't register. Out of warranty now and the switches on top of being crazy expensive have to be shipped from china, so add shipping cost to that, so I just decided to swap the D switch with one of the F keys. Not only is the keyboard a pain to dissasemble with a ton of screws all under keys, so you have to remove like 20 keys to take this thing apart, but finally I took the time and did it, of course the switches are soldered on, because why wouldn't they be right?. But finally it was done, reasembled the keyboard, cleaned the whole thing, the middle row of keys stop working. Dissasemble again, used alcohol to clean some corrosion, reassemble, keyboard works again... Only now SS and O keys are randomly dooubleclicking. Yess, from lasst ssentence I have stopped correcting words I type sso you can ssee hoow frustrating it actually iss. I loved logitech stuff, but thiss keyboard hass sbeen a nightmare, easily the worst keyboard I have ever owned and that's including the 10 euro ones I had in the past.
Same keyboard here, and after 2.5 years it started randomly duplicating spaces and e presses. Bought some romer-g keys to replace them, just to discover that you need to disassemble the whole freaking thing, and then solder them.
Thanks!! You save me from buying one!! Romer-g seems very good on paper. Now I know why there are so many second handed for sale. Cheers from Argentina!
Out of curiosity, which keyboard did you end up buying if any? I've been recently looking at the G613/G915 to replace my Corsair K70 MK2. G613 has Romer G switches but works on a AA battery (which is a plus for my personal use case). Whereas the G915 has a lithium battery but from what I've gathered its keycaps are super fragile and apparently there's only third party replacements if one breaks. Gracias por cualquier respuesta que puedas dar. También soy de Argentina, pero imagino que tu respuesta le puede servir a otros, por eso va en inglés.
Argentinian here, had romer-g g513, some rgb leds stoped working after few months, i claimed warranty to usa logitech site and they sent me another g513 with mx blue (cherry stile), 2 years from then just yesterday i started having the same double typing problem from the video. Fixed it pouring some isopropol alcohol inside the switch and pressing it. Still logitech is shit never again going to buy other logitech keyboard

Idk if its late, i got used 613. Had same issue of chatter/ double click in multiple keys which got fixed. I did brush clean as keyboard was way too dirty. Then did vaccume clean which help easy the key press. I decided to air dust can clean to see if it fixes double click but nope. Still it recommended to do generously air can clean it as it has removes all minute particles which would cause chatter. Then i tried isopropyl cleaning which fixed the issue. Put 2-3 drop inside and 2 drops around. Give 3-5 seconds to let it clean and do it's thing. Air dust it 2-3 times with short press to dry it completely. See it works. This will change feel of press as it'll dry any available lube. You can lube keys again to get the smooth back. Lastly, put new batteries as some fixes as batteries too impacts it sometime. Hope it helps.
Be careful when pulling the keycaps off that way, you can break them and have the small parts stuck in the keyboard. This happened to me but I watched a video where the person used a heated up pin to pull the pieces out, It worked well.
@@diegozaghinigfno Here it is ua-cam.com/video/hXJK-X7pFt0/v-deo.html You heat a needle up and stick it into the piece stuck in the keyboard. Wait about 2-3 mins and pull it out. I needed to use a towl to get it out but the trick worked well.
I use a safety pin. Heat the tip up with a lighter, for 15seconds or so, stick in in, wait about 30s and pull it out It works about 90% of the time. But I have had it where the heat melted the stalk of the switch. But replacing the switch was rather easy for me. The switch only has 2 solder points, much less than a Cherry MX which can have 4, 5 or even 6. This is because the LED is integrated into the Cherry MX switch where as on the Romer-G the LED is on the PCB and the switch uses a light pipe to send the light through If you have the Blue which are gen 1, you could upgrade to blacks which are gen 2 which feel less "Spongy" Not sure what the pin out on grays are, but if it is the same, you could mix it up. The Grays are Linear key switches Have Tactile for some keys and linear for others
also have g413 carbon, after almost 3 years my D key doubletaps a lot of times, was playing The Crew 2 and after raging cuz I couldn't steer properly I came here to find how to solve it, anyone has any other solution??
It's a garbage keyboard mate. I have the same one. Had it replaced thrice in warranty because of chattering on multiple keys. New replacement also chatters. I have now chucked it in a drawer and don't intend to ever use it.
Almost all keys get jammed after not using it my keyboard for a month. After multiple pressing it starts to works again. But it is really devastating for a year old rarely used product.
Man i got the same problem on my space touch from g514 and i just swap the switch with another one(the most useless switch i choose) *that was 1 hours ago* And now i see your video
With the keycap off, I put a SMALL drop of 99% rubbing alcohol into the switch. I then worked it for a few seconds. Some "Air in a Can" blew out the exceess alcohol and made sure it was dry. Worked perfectly without digging any deeper into the switch. :-)
I'm glad I read your comment before trying to get the switch out. I used 70° alcohol and dryed with a giotto air blaster, and voila! no need to buy a new keyboard
it looks like the solution for my G410 issues but I can't manage to do the step (it took more than years for me) once and I have a least 3 keys that need to be fixed... so I will forgive and buy an other keyboard (not logitech because it's certainly why they do keyboards so hard to unmount)
My Logitech g413 was giving me serious issues with this double typing on my Windows 10. I've gradually noticed that more and more keys were double typing. C, A, E, O, Space, R, the arrow keys... I was looking for a solution for a long long time. And so many nerves wasted. I cleaned my keyboard, I exracted every keycap, used the air compressor to clean it, but nothing seemed to really help. Maybe some placebo effect here and there, I thought it was working better but in the end I ended up with horrible repeating of keys again. But now I found, what I think is a solution, after months of frustration, I finally found out it's a software error, and thsi was what I was thinking all the time. However browsing the net for a solution it always sounded like it's a physical/mechanical error... But I kept thinking how can such a nice keyboard just start double typing all of a sudden, and get worse by the day... this should be quality stuff. People around praise the romer G technology for gaming. What I did was: I went to settings (the cogwheel in the start menu) and I typed keyboard then pressed enter. I choose the first option "typing settings" Then I turned off every setting that windows had turned on by default under the typing section, then I clicked on "advanced keyboard settings" at the bottom, and disabled everything there too. And to be honest I don't care about that. And then I typed this post with not a single double-typing key. It's good enough for me , it tells me my keyboard works like new now. Hope this helps you too, whoever is reading, and if it works for you too, spread it like wildfire!!
I'll keep that in mind and try your method if needed. I bought the G413 a week ago and so far I'm very happy with it, I really like the switches. I have a keyboard from February 2022. I will hope that this problem of switches has been fixed here.
got a g413 free from my cousin and it double types like hell but i cant seem to be able to disassemble the switch since it doesnt have the kind of clips yours have in order to take it apart. Should i just open the keyboard up and disolder the switches or is there an other way to do it? (even the spacebar does it!!!) i know i should be greatful for getting this but its nearly impossible to type on
This looks hard :( i have several keys acting on me now and im pretty much considering getting a new one instead. Any recommendations? Ideally a more clicky keyboard, good battery management, great wireless performance like g613... and one that's not prone to this double tapping hell... :(
If you still have the keyboard try resetting the settings back to default along with the lighting options. Then change the USB port it worked for me several of my buttons would multi trigger I thought it was a software issue & somehow it fixed itself.
It's the dust. it's the freaking dust. I bought the G613 and it went cancerous on me within 2 months. sat in my car trunk for 8 months while I used my trusty wired membrane keyboard. Finally found the time to submit it for replacement. Only about 1 month left on the warranty now. If the replacement goes cancerous (which it will) your video will be a blessing.
im back here, the replaacemeent has gone caancerous. you can tell. warraaantry is oover, im losing vaaloorant matches left and right. timee too try this
it's not the dust. I've had 2 brand new ones do this out of the box. Luckily Logitech replaced both of them and let me keep the old ones so now I"ll have 3 working ones soon.
Interesting but in my g512 there is no space to fit a hook... I have to unsolder them to open them up. Also even after cleaning with contact solution and some thin ribbed plastic film some switches still misbehave. Had membrane keyboards, cheap ones, that lasted for many years, like almost decades. While this supposedly pretty high end one started to misbehave just a few weeks after the guarantee expired. I suspect some type of planned obsolescence bs here and some anti repair practices as i couldn't find to buy parts like switches or keycaps from any reputable seller let alone a local one. And i'm not buying from aliexpress or amazon...
I know how to fix it now, but the process of fixing it is way too long. My G613 has at least 20 keys that do that and I'm honestly not gonna waste my time doing it. Back to cherry switches as they have never failed me.
Usually just removing the plastic cap and cleaning the switch with some alcohol + q-tip does the trick. I've been using my Logitech G810 for 7 years now. never had to remove the switch itself (like in this video) to fix the problem. Now after all these years I believe one key might be beyond repair or I have to do what is instructed in this video... the key still works normally 95% the time though.
My G5 Mouse lasted 15 years of hard gaming and was still mostly functional when I replaced it. I had to solder new switches in my replacement mouse after only a year and change of use... Now I am having this issue with my G910 keyboard. I would rather have quality core components (like japanese switches) then all that annoying RGB and aesthetic garbage....if I have to drop $200 on a new KB or mouse just to get something that is of decent quality I would rather give the finger to Logi (and the rest of the consumption based economy) and spend the $ to repair my old ones.
I almost broke the fucking space bar switch out of frustration, and now it's suddenly working, and I didn't even have to go through all the steps. 😆 I'm using my G413 right now. 🤣 Thanks for the inspiration, bro!
removed buildup on either side of the contact points, ensuring a solid connection. Going over it with a Q-tip dipped in 90% rubbing alcohol afterwards would be a good additional step.
How many keys have you had to do this to? And over how many months? All of a sudden my Logitech G Pro is double typing on like 2 keys, sometimes 3. Crazy that multiple started acting up overnight almost.

I still think that its a deliberate software iissue from Logitech, a bit too convenient that my keyboard just started doing it on several different keys all at once and not just start with one key??
logitech cant gain sad in my life but that romer-G is not good situation for my believe in goodness of "premium" stuff. G613 much more antirepair and i have'nt to reach that ledges from top right under caps. Eight bar compressor or dust less room for users of romer-G i could recommend that add to requiments for customers.
having G613 keyboard, same problem, sometime some key is not able to register or wrong sequence when fast typing. the partial workaround - use software to auto filter those double typing. search for Keyboard Chattering Fix. but I'm going to use your method to cure the cancer from it's root. sample chatty text within quotes, without filter "ttthe quicckk browwwnn ffox jump over the lazy dog". Ahhhh!! the agony!!!
oh, it appears.. there have no gap between switch and case unlike mine. At this rate, it might be impossible without disassembly if you want to use a toothpick. Otherwise using the isopropyl around the white part might work.
Yo, been having 2 problems with Romer-G switches. 1) Double-typing, 2) The key does not register at all sometimes Has anyone had the second issue and tried the fix in the video to solve the key not registering? TYIA
I had problem 2 with my "c" key on my G910. It was getting super frustrating since sometimes it wouldn't type it, sometimes it'd just type it late so many words were misspelled since the c would land later in the typing. Anyway, I did remove the keycap and cleaned it with the toothpick and that seems to have fixed it. Granted I broke the keycap when taking it apart and had to superglue it back together, but it seems to still be okay. As for the double-typing issue, I installed the keyboard chatter blocker application to fix that since lots of keys seemed to be doing that. It's kept it pretty much under control so far.
The first problem I solved by taking the cap off, blowing some air into it and then while pressed down I poured some Isopropanol alcohol into it to clean it (try at your own risk). The second problem was fixed after just blowing some air into the switch. I hope it helps.

If the contacts oxidize or similar dielectric grease should help. But if tiny dust particles are the cause, then just cleaning the contacts should be enough, otherwise the dust would collect on the grease.
My Romer G switches (some of them) started to double type after about 6 years of heavy use. Just a normal cleaning with a Q-tip and some alcohol would fix them.
I think it's a no. Both their pin positions and more importantly, the way they give their signals are not the same. That means even if you manage to wasting your time wiring it. The keyboard chipset will just *meh* to it.
For me half of switches have problems. Your method does not work on my version since there is not gap at all around key. The surrounding plastic is different than yours.
Maybe you have the Orion Spectrum? Have the same problem, I put it in the dishwasher and will use contact spray afterwards without taking it apart. If it doesnt help I will try your method with some contact spray in addition. Thanks

This usually happens to me during winter and someone on Reddit pointed out that it has a lot to do with the lack of humidity and that the static that the body produces tricks the keyboard that it didn’t hit the button (when it did) and registers a second press. A quick and easy way to fix it is just to breathe hot air into the keys. No soldering or toothpick required.
@@SilvaDreams5-6 months ago I figured out that unplugging the keyboard when I was done for the day eliminated the issue completely. But now it doesn’t matter any more since I’m never buying from Logitech anymore and I have a Hall effect keyboard.
Nice video! Saved here for future needs. Have you tryed WD40 before for correcting those errors and improve lubing? Also be careful when pulling those caps, they'll break!
The caps have 2 larger and 2 smaller legs/pins. the smaller pins broke on at least one of my keycaps, just by normal typing, no in-game binding or anything excessive.
The solution to this is very simple. I wasted too many time upgrading firmware and other things. The simple solution is: unplug the keyboard, remove keycap, pour alcohol on the switch and press it some times. then wait until it dries and it woks. And cover the keyboard when not in use to protect if from dust.
Exactly what I did today. I didn't bother to even unplug it. Just remove keycap, few drops of Isoporopyl alcohol directly to the switch, few presses and thats it.
had 3 of those keybooards.. all with the same proobleme . sometimes ohnly 1 day after the warranty ends... hate logitech for this as much as i can.... never ever touch this keyboard or one of logitechhs keyboards
I have fixed it by pulling it apart and water bathing the whole board. Dry water is the hardest part. Believe this is a design fault of bad dust proof.
Good question. My method is just blow some canned air into each key, which helps for a week. Better method is to spray contact spray into each switch and than blow out with air. It fix the problem for a while. But also the key stuttering is not constant. It comes and goes. Sometimes a key refuse to work totally, sometimes you need to press really vertical and gently, than it works for a month. All in all this keyboard is CRAP. I would say so if paid 20€, but I Paid 200€ - ut's the reason I will say goodbye to Logitech. Just expensive pile of ... they sell. Including G mouses. Not to mention most keys have scratched "black finish" away like cheap chinese keyboards from 2005 - I nned to fix them with black marker and transparent nail polish like I did in 2005. Crap. I imagine I could buy 10 keyboards for the money and the cheapest last te longest. But I guess I wanted selectable color illumination for ma apps and that extra G-keys. I hate how loud it is. I can't hide Typing at night - so loud.
I replaced damn thing with new keyboard and it is updated 2nd gen model. We will see. It is also louder for typing. Old one is just nor repairable. Some keys does not register if not pressed exactly perpendicular and gently, some register triple time, some OK. Same behavior for all keys regardless if they were least used keys. Than a week keys no problem, than all of a sudden, again only the problems,... All in all bad bad bad. While 20+ years old IBM keyboard works fine. If I consider how much money I threw into that 2 Logitech product it blinds my eyes. Also top of the line mouses that also go south after warranty is over. Microsoft mouse works for 15 years, Logitech 2. Grr. I think their cheap mouses are fine, though.
@@ibobeko4309 I need specific G910 keyboard for reasons as: - programmable keys - set light for each key separate - illumination is THROUGH keys not around them (or underneath to glow in between keys) - mechanic keys - ISO layout If I can find another keyboard to have this requirements I will replace it. Hi guys, I tried to solve it like in the video; Unfortunately my keyb revision seems to be slightly other: the switches was .. poured in and was all soldered on to backplate. Also I haven't 3pin Switch for the volume control - also three single cables was direvtly soldered on the board, Not enough lenght to flip the board.
Usually just removing the cap and cleaning the switch with some alcohol + q-tip does the trick. I've been using my Logitech G810 for 7 years now.
@@Sc0pee I wish so. Same Keyboard, same Problem. Cleaned it three times and after a Week it starts double clicking again.
My Romer G switches (some of them) started to double type after about 6 years of heavy use. Just a normal cleaning with a Q-tip and some alcohol would fix those, but now after 7 years one of the keys seems to be not responding to the cleaning anymore and I believe it might be the time for me to invest on a new keyboard. The key still works normally 95% of the time though. EDIT: Another cleaning did it. The key now works again perfectly.
@@Sc0pee Did you disassemble the switch or just removed the keycap and cleaned from top ?
You are a hero bro.
Be careful when pulling the keycaps off that way, you can break them and have the small parts stuck in the keyboard. This happened to me but I watched a video where the person used a heated up pin to pull the pieces out, It worked well.
Hey, i have the same issue. Can u share this video with me, pls?
@@diegozaghinigfno Here it is ua-cam.com/video/hXJK-X7pFt0/v-deo.html
You heat a needle up and stick it into the piece stuck in the keyboard. Wait about 2-3 mins and pull it out. I needed to use a towl to get it out but the trick worked well.
@@thetubbywhale8571 Me too :( not in this video, beforeeeeee ago
I use a safety pin.
Heat the tip up with a lighter, for 15seconds or so, stick in in, wait about 30s and pull it out
It works about 90% of the time.
But I have had it where the heat melted the stalk of the switch.
But replacing the switch was rather easy for me.
The switch only has 2 solder points, much less than a Cherry MX which can have 4, 5 or even 6.
This is because the LED is integrated into the Cherry MX switch where as on the Romer-G the LED is on the PCB and the switch uses a light pipe to send the light through
If you have the Blue which are gen 1, you could upgrade to blacks which are gen 2 which feel less "Spongy"
Not sure what the pin out on grays are, but if it is the same, you could mix it up.
The Grays are Linear key switches
Have Tactile for some keys and linear for others

It's a garbage keyboard mate. I have the same one. Had it replaced thrice in warranty because of chattering on multiple keys. New replacement also chatters. I have now chucked it in a drawer and don't intend to ever use it.
Almost all keys get jammed after not using it my keyboard for a month. After multiple pressing it starts to works again. But it is really devastating for a year old rarely used product.

What I did was:
I went to settings (the cogwheel in the start menu) and I typed keyboard then pressed enter.

It's the dust. it's the freaking dust. I bought the G613 and it went cancerous on me within 2 months. sat in my car trunk for 8 months while I used my trusty wired membrane keyboard.
Some problem on my G613
I know how to fix it now, but the process of fixing it is way too long. My G613 has at least 20 keys that do that and I'm honestly not gonna waste my time doing it. Back to cherry switches as they have never failed me.
I have g513 2 year old with mx blue and have this problem. Logitech just have shitty switches
Just use a spray for electrical contacts cleaner
My G623 same shit
Exactly the problem I'm experiencing. Fuck Logitech and fuck those switches.
This double typinng problem is getting worse bby the day on my G613. I am thinking about replacing the entire romer-g switches with cheerry.
I'm using my G413 right now. 🤣 Thanks for the inspiration, bro!
it works. Thank you brother!
Just curious, what did toothpick do over the contact point? why would it fix the problem?
removed buildup on either side of the contact points, ensuring a solid connection.
It's just dirty switches try deoxit? But that might ruin the plastic. I've seen people say 99 percent alcohol works
Unfortunately it doesn't work for G413, it has other switches, they cannot be disassembled like that, only the entire keyboard.
The switches are the same, but the keyboard chassis blocks them from unclipping in the G413.

oh, it appears.. there have no gap between switch and case unlike mine. At this rate, it might be impossible without disassembly if you want to use a toothpick. Otherwise using the isopropyl around the white part might work.
Yo, been having 2 problems with Romer-G switches. 1) Double-typing, 2) The key does not register at all sometimes
Has anyone had the second issue and tried the fix in the video to solve the key not registering?

This looks interesting, How long before the cancer starts again? It's kinda daunting to disassemble my G910 so this might be what I wanna do.
Are these different from the G910 orion spectrum? My switches don't have any blue areas, it's all black and I can't see any clips.
I believe the ones you have are the linear romer g switches
is it possible to manually change the switches to (for example) cherry switches ? so just take these out and change them ? or not
I think it's a no. Both their pin positions and more importantly, the way they give their signals are not the same. That means even if you manage to wasting your time wiring it. The keyboard chipset will just *meh* to it.
okay so the switch is a normally closed one
For me half of switches have problems. Your method does not work on my version since there is not gap at all around key. The surrounding plastic is different than yours.
:o How sad. Thx for letting me know. I think isopropyl method will be convenient for yours more than mine.

No soldering or toothpick required.
wtf this just worked lmao
It's from dust and corrosion built up, the static just jumps between the two causing miss fires too.
The caps have 2 larger and 2 smaller legs/pins. the smaller pins broke on at least one of my keycaps, just by normal typing, no in-game binding or anything excessive.
just pour 99.9% alcohol or 91% cvs alcohol on the key switch. Worked for me. All my double typing stopped.
WD40 is not a lube, it is a water displacement liquid that actually dissolves lubricants (and corrodes plastics and rubber) and also attracts dust.

Which keyboard is this?
for how lomg did this work?
Some keys work with no problem even now. Some keys work for a few weeks - a month.
