The best part about the akko rosewood. They give them "for free" when you buy a keyboard there. I bought the monsgeek m1 v5 (just released 2-3 days ago) with the halloween code it was 150€, the switches alone would have cost me 40-50€ and for another 100€ I got one of the nicest new boards with it.
i gotta say that the gateron everfree curry are some of the smoothest pre-lubed switches i've ever used (over EG aquakings). they're almost as smooth as my hand-lubed epsilons. they're that good. would recommend lol

i bought rosewoods and morandis in one go. loved the rosewoods and was so frustrated with the morandis. stem wobble was so horrendous that mods keep depressing when you slightly move your finger (i.e. alt tabbing). i couldnt use them for work without making mistakes. rosewoods on the other hand is very good if you are looking for a deep, muted sound. the downside i think is when you like RGB, as the light looks pink by default due to the housing color.

Hello i was hoping you could help me understand creamy and thocky better. You are one reviewer i notice willing to reply, converse and share opinion or ideas That 'buttery' description for 'creamy', does it mean more thicker 'viscous' coated type of sound? I would imagine 3 diy woofer boxes. One coated with honey, one layered with foam, and one empty. Knocking on it, all are deeper sounding but would have their own unique signature frequency pass filter. When introduce a stronger knock 'pop' in, esp higher pitched, these boxes will show its unique characteristics more clearly by how it filters, one that could skew it toward either sounding creamy deeper, darker deeper and open clearer deeper? However if you introduce a deep low thud into the boxes, their characteristics would sound more similar than different. Im just postulating that, you actually need a certain strong knock that also produces high frequencies, like a loud switch in order to show 'thocky' or 'creamy' characteristics clearer and better? But i can imagine you could also just give a low thud on a normal box and it could sound deep too. I apologize in advance 🙏🙇 Am trying understand better and make sense. I was hoping you could chip in your take on it
No need to apologize at all, I think you are getting very close to what I think is the difference between creamy and thocky. Like when you're typing on a "creamy" keyboard the sounds are more in line with each other where it feels like there is a flow to the frequency and not a sudden thud that comes with it. The number one thocky switch I chose the biggest different would be just as you said almost like a high frequency at the end that comes up afterwards when the stem hits the bottom. It has a deep sound profile to it, but has that sudden thump to it. While creamy switches I find have a quieter sound to it and no sudden high frequency that comes up at the end. Sorry I hope that makes sense
@@mikeytypes Do you mean that "Creamy" has more highs filtered out and less open sounding? Maybe more pronounced filtering across both ends of lows and highs happening, perhaps preserving maybe more of the mid freq. I visualize 'thump' as having more reverberation on the low-mids. If so, does it mean that in comparison 'Creamy' sounds more 'compressed' sounding than 'open' sounding at the lows of 'Thocky'? But at the same time 'Creamy' can sound more 'focused" and 'controlled'?
@@mTLpHfumfaomd hmmmm really difficult to like explain in just writing, but I would say that creamy is yes more controlled with holding the sound while thocky has more of a pronounced and louder sound when the stem hits the bottom. But again this is my opinion between the difference as I said in the video too creamy and thocky really comes down to a personal opinion of it as it's an incredibly thin line
@@mikeytypes Do you think the loudness and deepness of sound like thock also comes from the way keyboards are tuned? Maybe especially if housing case are filled with something like foam? And what i notice is it also depends on the surface it sits on. Wooden table will have a great resonant effect. I would imagine it maybe different on other surfaces too
@@mTLpHfumfaomd yeah there is so many factors to it. How much foam, type of foam, thickness of foam, case material, surface it is on, thickness of desk pad, switch material, keycap material and profile as well
@@wilfordjason1 I just lube the stem sides and then the bottom housing and then with left over lube on the brush I put it on the spring. I’m posting a video tomorrow and have a part actually I show how I lube switches

Hi, im liking your videos. The vertex v1 (unrelated to this video, but i do know you have tested it), i am aware that it's an amazing budget linear switch, but, in the video you made of it, there was no rgb test. I was wondering, how well does the rgb work with that switch?
@@mikeytypes thank you for the insight! Also, just another question: how good is the factory lube on the switch? And since it doesn't have RGB support, are there any alternatives you would suggest that are also thocky and creamy like that switch?
@@mikeytypes thanks one again! I've narrowed it down to the milky yellow pros, but I've heard that the stock lubing is not as good as the vertex's and it is also higher pitched and less marbly sounding than the vertex v1. Is this true?
@@recordedanemone6399 it would really depend on the board you are using, I would say that they are slightly sound higher pitched stock compared to the Vertex V1, but I find that the Milky Yellow Pros sound quite like creamy sounding. @@paksoom8756 it’s just the MCHOSE GX87 Ultra. I added one layer of tape mode on the bottom but even that I only did parts of it to not over the areas where the switches connect to

This is just the MCHOSE GX87 with the Keytok smile Keycaps and a layer of tape mod plus lubing the switches, but in terms of the Rosewood when I try them on my other boards too it sounds good

Hey! I bought a set of Gateron Everfree Currys from watching your video, but they're really muted and quiet in my Neo65. Are the Morandis and Akko Rosewoods any louder in terms of sheer volume? Also, would removing foam/PE foam make my board a little louder when I'm using the Currys?
Yeah, the switches I have in my creamy switches video are all more on the quiet side if you want something louder I would say maybe the Akko Botany switches would be for you! Yeah for sure try removing the foams first. Foams will dampen the sounds more

Thanks for subbing! So the three you mentioned are different in terms of feel. Ink blacks aren’t as smooth feeling as the other two. Oil kings feels very smooth but I find not as deep as the ink blacks. The Milky yellow is like a good between of the three. Ink blacks quiet and deep can feel a bit not smooth. I also did bought 1 switch of Wuque Morandi (lubed) for my Left Ctrl button - as in Vietnam e-commerce shops that they also offer for 01 single switch + lubed selling option to buyer :) and it's so true to your video that this switch presents the creamy sound but with strong shaking when full pressing it (uncertainty feeling when I am hold Ctrl button for a while). Hello i was hoping you could help me understand creamy and thocky better. You are one reviewer i notice willing to reply, converse and share opinion or ideas
That 'buttery' description for 'creamy', does it mean more thicker 'viscous' coated type of sound?

I am happy and feeling lucky to watch your video as you did tested the all creamy switches on GX87 that I can image the sound, smoothness and decide which is best for me to upgrade the sound.
@@mikeytypes I’m looking to order some ceramic keys to go with the wooden board and the rosewood switches, but lots of the ceramic keys are out of stock.
Also, not sure if (by going with cerakeys) if I’m introducing a higher pitch sound and a glassy feel instead of the stock AKKO keys, which I assume have a matte-like finish, and possibly lower muted sound.
Not that either of you care, but figured I’d share…
I keep going back and forth with adding the cream AKKO switch series, if Rosewood is really the sound/feel I think I’m trying to attain.
man if the rosewood switches were tactile it would be perfect. i’m not a fan of linear switches. can anyone recommend me something?
Yeah the rosewood is really good for tactile hmm yeah not sure what would be a good equivalent as the tactile I like is just so expensive
so i have a question with keyboards like these ive only ever seen people type are they any good for gaming at all or no?
@@JustGeeked good question! It does I mean too be fair you can use any keyboard for gaming and still do well. Of course these aren’t like the new Hall Effect keyboards that provide very specific gaming features but with 1000hz polling rate or more it’s more than enough for gaming and just feels and sounds good while using it 😊 except for like Apex I usually just use my customs for games
