Fixed! Double typing on Romer-G cancer SW keyboard. No whole disassemble. Just wire and a toothpick!
I've fought this cancer for years... Started with soldering brand new switches. Until the calculator told me it would be more expensive than buying the new keyboard. If I continued buying new switches from Aliexpress like this.
Man.. It's kept broken 1 by 1 with no ending.
I can't deny but have to live with this cancer. I'd never put screws behind this thing back. Not until I found this way.
(Even if it didn't permanently solve or not 100% work on some keys. But made my life easier.)

Wish this was possible with the other version of the G910....
I solved all my double typing and missing keystrokes by throwing my G513 in the trash. Worst keyboard ever, Logitech should be sued.
мій ремонт ефективніший - вдарив пару разів по не пацючій клавіші і вона починає працювати
you left handed?
This switch break apart just because my cat jumping on it.
Thanks for the video!
it looks like the solution for my G410 issues but I can't manage to do the step (it took more than years for me) once and I have a least 3 keys that need to be fixed... so I will forgive and buy an other keyboard (not logitech because it's certainly why they do keyboards so hard to unmount)
i used wd40 contact even without disassembling the switch and it worked just fine
I threw mine away. Zero problems since. I'll never buy Romer G switches again.
This video was good for being helpful, but became great once I saw the mspaint diagram.
My G5 Mouse lasted 15 years of hard gaming and was still mostly functional when I replaced it. I had to solder new switches in my replacement mouse after only a year and change of use... Now I am having this issue with my G910 keyboard. I would rather have quality core components (like japanese switches) then all that annoying RGB and aesthetic garbage....if I have to drop $200 on a new KB or mouse just to get something that is of decent quality I would rather give the finger to Logi (and the rest of the consumption based economy) and spend the $ to repair my old ones.
I have come to HATE ALL THE G5 Particularly! The rest are also----- AB -<SO> FUCKING LUTLEY USELESS! Emphasis on SOI@! And ad a very! THEY RESET YOUR WEBPAGE WHEN YOU ARE TRYING TO TYPE! AND WHEN YOU HAVE HALF A PAGE YOUR FUCKED! I REMOVED THE COVER MOVED THE CAP to bottom left AND GLUED IT TO THE FRAME! I happen to hit that spot all the time! its grueling! I do not use a desk may place is Cozy but only has Bedroom Kitchen combo dining/ Livingroom. good neighbors and rent PRAISE THE LORD and thanks also for my Awesome landlord! God bless her too! I digress! have my home entertainment system and its wired Under a throw rug. but now I cleaned the board off and all my keys want to just fall right off for some reason? so Im using old board now . Problem was the windows key was sticking indefinitely. thats what lead me to thinking rubbing alcohol would free it up. iot only compounded my issue!
This usually happens to me during winter and someone on Reddit pointed out that it has a lot to do with the lack of humidity and that the static that the body produces tricks the keyboard that it didn’t hit the button (when it did) and registers a second press. A quick and easy way to fix it is just to breathe hot air into the keys. No soldering or toothpick required.
wtf this just worked lmao
It's from dust and corrosion built up, the static just jumps between the two causing miss fires too.
@@SilvaDreams5-6 months ago I figured out that unplugging the keyboard when I was done for the day eliminated the issue completely. But now it doesn’t matter any more since I’m never buying from Logitech anymore and I have a Hall effect keyboard.
logitech cant gain sad in my life but that romer-G is not good situation for my believe in goodness of "premium" stuff. G613 much more antirepair and i have'nt to reach that ledges from top right under caps. Eight bar compressor or dust less room for users of romer-G i could recommend that add to requiments for customers.
what a stupid design, just threw the logitech keyboard away - to fiddely design here (selfrepair is selfdestruct) - this was my last ever logitech product
I still think that its a deliberate software iissue from Logitech, a bit too convenient that my keyboard just started doing it on several different keys all at once and not just start with one key??
Thank you for this! My space bar was double typing (is starting to miss strokes too) and it makes gaming very complicated.
thanks dude. you are a hero.
This makes no sense at all, what?
Is the keyboard called ultimate? Very confused
nah on overwatch im assuming. the key was worn down so he replaced it with the o and made it look like a q
Either this or he talking about some battle game
dachte das ist M mein Herz
What problem did you encounter? Some of the keys on my 910 only work sometimes. Do you think i can fix this with this method?
Double typing. I can’t walk without being Parkinson’s in FPS game. And I’m not sure if in your case the problem is dirty contact or not. May be at first try to pour/drip isopropyl like normal people would do. (Yep, my method is a bit cringy.) If it do something then it’s about this.
Bro, u installed the M button upside down
Oh that’s why I can’t move forward in game. But my friend kept complaining me about communication.
Had the same keyboard with the same problem... but i learned that the "space" Button actually is able to send different letters once you got the Hang of it.
Where did you get the keycaps like that for the whole keyboard? I only have it for a few keys
Those pricey mechanical keyboards are pure jokes and rip off. My previous 10€ keyboard lasted more than a decade without any problem!
Interesting but in my g512 there is no space to fit a hook... I have to unsolder them to open them up. Also even after cleaning with contact solution and some thin ribbed plastic film some switches still misbehave. Had membrane keyboards, cheap ones, that lasted for many years, like almost decades. While this supposedly pretty high end one started to misbehave just a few weeks after the guarantee expired. I suspect some type of planned obsolescence bs here and some anti repair practices as i couldn't find to buy parts like switches or keycaps from any reputable seller let alone a local one. And i'm not buying from aliexpress or amazon...
So, would you say all keyboard switches last at least 50 million clicks as advertised? God, I can't even imagine what the TTC Red owners go through ^^.
Just bought a refurbished one for like 50 bucks, didn't notice it didn't come with cherry switches, seems I'm in for an interesting ride :] Thanks for this video, I'll be sure to try it if... or rather when the issue happens.
Terrible switches I’m not doing this one by one i don’t have time I’m throwing this away
got a g413 free from my cousin and it double types like hell but i cant seem to be able to disassemble the switch since it doesnt have the kind of clips yours have in order to take it apart. Should i just open the keyboard up and disolder the switches or is there an other way to do it? (even the spacebar does it!!!) i know i should be greatful for getting this but its nearly impossible to type on
This double typinng problem is getting worse bby the day on my G613. I am thinking about replacing the entire romer-g switches with cheerry.
Tengo 1 de estos teclados logitech que page bástate 💰 me fallan muchas teclas con menos 2 años de uso mi relación con teclados logitech a terminado 💔
Idk if its late, i got used 613. Had same issue of chatter/ double click in multiple keys which got fixed. I did brush clean as keyboard was way too dirty. Then did vaccume clean which help easy the key press. I decided to air dust can clean to see if it fixes double click but nope. Still it recommended to do generously air can clean it as it has removes all minute particles which would cause chatter. Then i tried isopropyl cleaning which fixed the issue. Put 2-3 drop inside and 2 drops around. Give 3-5 seconds to let it clean and do it's thing. Air dust it 2-3 times with short press to dry it completely. See it works. This will change feel of press as it'll dry any available lube. You can lube keys again to get the smooth back. Lastly, put new batteries as some fixes as batteries too impacts it sometime. Hope it helps.
My Romer G switches (some of them) started to double type only after about 6 years of heavy use. Just a normal cleaning with Qq-tip and some alcohol would fix those, but now after 7 years one of the keys seems to be not responding to the cleaning anymore and I believe it might be the time for me to invest on a new keyboard. EDIT: Another cleaning did it. The key now works again perfectly.
my g910 started doing that after about 3 years of moderate uses. it seems that the double click issue have something to do with the fact that is have 2 contact point and a large gap on top which allows dust to get in easier than it should be.
mine started only 6 months afteer buying ( e and space ). pretty unfortunate, but hopefully this does the trick
which part of the switch did u clean? is it the same part which thiis video does?
how do you usually clean it? can you make a video or link a reference
Just replace the switch. It is simple if you have basic soldering skills.
Спасибо бро.
I just put the whole keyboard into the toilet and flushed it about 10 times. Problem solved because I had to buy a new kkeyboard omg there's the double tap k key that mine has. Fuck it's a pain in the ass. I might try you solution but I already bought a new switch for this key. Good to know it's not just me.
So do i need to do this to every damn key?
I may jjust smasssh all my logitecch shit and never fuckin buy anything from them ever agian
You saved my G410 ! Thanks for the video
Dоеs g410 have the same gap between switch and cover?
These switches are so bad not to mention the keycap mount
Bought the G413 Carbon and this skeyboard has been nothing but problems... 130 euros and the spacebar started doubleclicking after half a year. Got that fixed under warranty and bought some random Redragon keyboard they had at the store. Got the keyboard back, but didn't end up using it for like a year because I liked the Redragon more. Finally decided to plug it in again, now after a couple months the D key randomly doesn't register. Out of warranty now and the switches on top of being crazy expensive have to be shipped from china, so add shipping cost to that, so I just decided to swap the D switch with one of the F keys. Not only is the keyboard a pain to dissasemble with a ton of screws all under keys, so you have to remove like 20 keys to take this thing apart, but finally I took the time and did it, of course the switches are soldered on, because why wouldn't they be right?. But finally it was done, reasembled the keyboard, cleaned the whole thing, the middle row of keys stop working. Dissasemble again, used alcohol to clean some corrosion, reassemble, keyboard works again... Only now SS and O keys are randomly dooubleclicking. Yess, from lasst ssentence I have stopped correcting words I type sso you can ssee hoow frustrating it actually iss. I loved logitech stuff, but thiss keyboard hass sbeen a nightmare, easily the worst keyboard I have ever owned and that's including the 10 euro ones I had in the past.
Same keyboard here, and after 2.5 years it started randomly duplicating spaces and e presses. Bought some romer-g keys to replace them, just to discover that you need to disassemble the whole freaking thing, and then solder them.
Usually just removing the cap and cleaning the switch with some alcohol + q-tip does the trick. I've been using my Logitech G810 for 7 years now.
@@Sc0pee I wish so. Same Keyboard, same Problem. Cleaned it three times and after a Week it starts double clicking again.
I have smashed my keyboard while playing Rocket League and then my D key was double typing. I needed to open it and solder this keycap again :D
Nice video! Saved here for future needs. Have you tryed WD40 before for correcting those errors and improve lubing? Also be careful when pulling those caps, they'll break!
The caps have 2 larger and 2 smaller legs/pins. the smaller pins broke on at least one of my keycaps, just by normal typing, no in-game binding or anything excessive.
just pour 99.9% alcohol or 91% cvs alcohol on the key switch. Worked for me. All my double typing stopped.
WD40 is not a lube, it is a water displacement liquid that actually dissolves lubricants (and corrodes plastics and rubber) and also attracts dust.
Romer g caps are fragile crap.
This looks interesting, How long before the cancer starts again? It's kinda daunting to disassemble my G910 so this might be what I wanna do.
If the contacts oxidize or similar dielectric grease should help. But if tiny dust particles are the cause, then just cleaning the contacts should be enough, otherwise the dust would collect on the grease.
My Romer G switches (some of them) started to double type after about 6 years of heavy use. Just a normal cleaning with a Q-tip and some alcohol would fix them.
gold!
Owww yeeeahhh 🤓
I did it by using cleaning alcohol and pressure air. It worked perfectly
My Logitech g413 was giving me serious issues with this double typing on my Windows 10. I've gradually noticed that more and more keys were double typing. C, A, E, O, Space, R, the arrow keys... I was looking for a solution for a long long time. And so many nerves wasted. I cleaned my keyboard, I exracted every keycap, used the air compressor to clean it, but nothing seemed to really help. Maybe some placebo effect here and there, I thought it was working better but in the end I ended up with horrible repeating of keys again. But now I found, what I think is a solution, after months of frustration, I finally found out it's a software error, and thsi was what I was thinking all the time. However browsing the net for a solution it always sounded like it's a physical/mechanical error... But I kept thinking how can such a nice keyboard just start double typing all of a sudden, and get worse by the day... this should be quality stuff. People around praise the romer G technology for gaming. What I did was: I went to settings (the cogwheel in the start menu) and I typed keyboard then pressed enter. I choose the first option "typing settings" Then I turned off every setting that windows had turned on by default under the typing section, then I clicked on "advanced keyboard settings" at the bottom, and disabled everything there too. And to be honest I don't care about that. And then I typed this post with not a single double-typing key. It's good enough for me , it tells me my keyboard works like new now. Hope this helps you too, whoever is reading, and if it works for you too, spread it like wildfire!!
I'll keep that in mind and try your method if needed. I bought the G413 a week ago and so far I'm very happy with it, I really like the switches. I have a keyboard from February 2022. I will hope that this problem of switches has been fixed here.
Man i got the same problem on my space touch from g514 and i just swap the switch with another one(the most useless switch i choose) *that was 1 hours ago* And now i see your video
i should stay with this methode bcs now my keycap are broken!
