The one person you missed in your review was Adam's unbelievable beat boxing in Mayday, which is one of the best drum rhythm arrangements they have done to date. I believe you may have overlooked it because it was so natural to the song's background, you forget that it was Adam instead of actual drums.

    • @frizzy2197

Tim’s range is 5+ octaves! When he sings tenor and the lead, Chance always does the bass line. Take a look at “Stop, Drop & Roll”, Chance is doing the bass line in that one too! It’s another great one!!

Chance is a true Baritone, Tim is a Bass with an unnatural range...I don't think people understand the difference. Most singers can cover up to 3 octaves with training, some techniques can be learned to extend it, and that's where you get the lowest of notes from Bass singers, but Tim doesn't have to go into falsetto to sing tenor, and that is simply amazing.

Ok, Emily is having a hard time believing that both were Tim? Y'all should do the cover of "Your Man" (preferably live) and watch him do both in the same song. Happy Belated Birthday Brad!!! Great job, I would have thought it was a little early for "Mayday" for her, but she still remembered the note from last week so it worked. Keep 'em coming!!!

Tim is a mutant with a 5 octave range. Austin is an amazing Georgia boy. Rob (beard) also has a great voice. (Adam) Chance is the newest member and also has an amazing range. They call him Chance because Adam Rupp (beat boxer) is one of the founding members of the group to avoid confusion over which Adam is being talked about. What blew my mind when I listened to the Home Free version of "How Great Thou Art" was that Adam Rupp sings a couple of solo lines. His voice is so high.

  • @louf1025

It's like Tim woke up and said, "I'm going to be a tenor today". And then they all just kind of switched parts. They're all amazing and versatile. If you want to hear a good Tim display (not breathing fire, but showing off his range), check out his "Can't help falling in love" cover. Great runs and beautiful timbre in his voice on that song.

I love this song by Home Free, not only for their fabulous arrangement where they switched parts but because they are singing a song written for a female voice. That's the reason why the first three parts are sung so high. I had never heard this song before and looked up the story behind it and watched Cam's (the original singer's) video. She co-wrote it with Tyler Johnson, and it is about the ending of bad relationships they both had with others.
What amazes me about all the reactions that I've watched of this video is that nobody ever comments on the lyrics or meaning of the song. I think it's because the arrangement and performances are so incredible and they're blown away by the individual parts and the catchy tune and beat. They don't seem to realize the frankness of the lyrics and what this song is really communicating. Most have probably never heard it before.
At the end, Rob begins singing over and over the first lines that Tim opened with: "You are overbearing; I'm not in love but I don't wanna tell you". Those lyrics are unique, and to hear a man sing these to and about a woman makes quite the impact. I was so intrigued I had to look them up. The lyrics really make sense coming from a woman's point of view, but Home Free pulls them off brilliantly. A lot of credit should go to both songwriters. It took them about five years to complete the song.

Many years ago a friend had me sit in his audio room. He was seriously into the sound, and mainly bought master records (vinyl not digital). His room was ONLY for audience of one. I was the one that time. He sat behind in another chair and controlled what was playing. The speakers were arranged in a semi circle. When the recording was of the correct type, I could close my eyes and point at each instrument and know how far away it was. But some sounds seemed to come from outside the out most speaker. Awesome. I would love to have a live recording of Home Free with that kind of pickup so I could (with the proper head set) point at each of them and know which sound came from who.

People get caught up in "parts" so to speak. In quartets and quintets or nearly any music ensemble it is quite common for the vocals to criss cross each other. A quartet is 4 part harmonies. Typically it is Tenor, Lead, Baritone and Bass. Here you have the same but with Adam Rupp providing percussion( a fifth member). It's common for Lead to sing above the Tenor, Baritone above the Lead, Bass above the Baritone. You get a real good example of this with most "Barbershop" style quartet songs.
Home Free is made of extremely good individual members. Each one of them are all talented and have excellent voice control. As a group they have managed to hone their ability to blend with each other to create the awesome sound that you hear in everything they sing. Songs like this are usually used to really "highlight" a persons capabilities. But in the case of Home Free, every member has outstanding capabilities and as a group they've become so on point with each other and how they support whoever is singing Lead. They truly are an amazingly talented group!

I grew up with a deaf best friend so I learned @ a very young age to pay attention to body language, I sing as well. If you watch their body movements (especially Tim's hands) you will know exactly where their voice is going. Much like watching the beat boxer. He makes the movements along with the sounds. Yes, they have stunning voices, yet I can watch a video with no sound & feel every moment. Im Hearing, but super Blessed to be in the Deaf community. I think people miss so much relying on only 1 sense.

nice reaction. this one blew my mind the first time I listened to it. I thought for a min.....what??? Did they dub Austin or Rob over him?? Wasn't until the second time watching it, that I realized it was Tim. So impressive. You should show her the video of Tim's Range.

I know there are plenty of talented A Capella groups, PTX included, but I consider Home Free the super group of A Capella music!! I was a little surprised that Emily didn’t really seem surprised by Tim singing tenor, at first. Then I realized she was just in disbelief that it was Tim. lol She was taken aback by Chance singing low, though, which is equally shocking when someone sees it the first time! Brad, please explain the “Party Bernard” reference. I must have missed something somewhere. Love both of your shirts, btw!

Well, you pulled the trigger on Tim's high notes - I like her reaction to both Tim and Chance. Now you really need to experience the whole range of Tim in 1 song... They cover Your Man by Josh Turner.
There are many different recordings of it and the live show covers are the best. ----> ua-cam.com/video/4srGq0oX2XI/v-deo.html is my favorite.... I experienced it live and it is even BETTER than the recording shows. Be ready by the 2:00 - 2:50 mark - it showcases the groups entertainment as well as - well, you'll have to see for yourself. Then hang in for the ending - You might BOTH have to go outside and cool off after that...
