Tim actually has a 5 octave range. Chance is actually a bass but sings baritone most of the time. He sings bass while Tim takes a lead. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.
@@justann1358 You realize for the average person Home Free is sensory overload? Most people are trying to pick up on the many things that are happening all at once.

Just a small small correction...only one real basso profundo-Tim..and Chance is more baritone -bass..but as we see and hear...he doing excellent bass job..no mention-he sang bass in previous band.
Chance did the bass the WHOLE WAY....Chance used to be the bass in his old group Street Corner Symphony.....chance leads : Finally Free, Cover me Up (which you have to play past the music ending there is still more) Born in the USA & I can't outrun you (which Chance also directed as well)
Tim is an all around singer from bass to high tenor. Chance used to sing base before he joined this group. So with overlaying singers, they are unstoppable. So yeah, Chance was already a bass prior to getting with Home Free. No training needed. Have you see Austin and Rob do Nessun Dorma?? Another awesom some where Rob shines in this one. Sounds like Poverotti.
Always a surprise, Home Free is so versatile. Rob’s voice tends to be a warm flannel blanket, Austin is hot piercing blue ice, Chance is green/black velvet, and Tim …. Well Tim is a chameleon, and can sing anything! Adam is a master at fleshing out a beat and mood of a song, unless he is singing with them.
Rob, voice is or has a more rounded tone no sharp edge as opposed to Austin's slightly higher more crisp edge. And so glad the performance lifted your spirit.
Tim’s range is stunning isn’t it?! I wouldn’t doubt that Tim has helped Chance go lower. You’re right that he’s helped Geoff of VP and Avi (formerly of PTX) now on his own. When live his voice just goes through you. And here he’s doing a tenor voice and I believe that’s him going higher than Rob. Yes, Rob has a smooth voice where Austin has more grit. So well said. Love this! Have a great weekend and don’t cry. Hopefully Home Free can lift you up!😍
This song is one of my favorites. So glad you waited to react to it. Your surprise at hearing the switch ups in the voices was great. Tim can sing in a beautiful higher tenor voice along with Austin & Rob. And Chance can hit the lower bass notes when needed. And Adam did a fabulous job as always with his vocal percussion. This song is sung by a woman Cam, so they sung it in a higher key to match the original. Chance takes the lead or is showcased in a lot of songs such as "Some Girls Do", "Cover Me Up", "Yours", "I Can't Outrun You", "Born In The USA", "Workin' For A Livin'", "Brothers In Arms", "Helplessly Hoping", "Sea Shanty Medley" etc.
@@dagmar.6954 Possibly, I have heard him real high in a couple songs, including Listen to the Music and in the solo's i have seen him very low, not near Tim's level but maybe as low as Chance, just not substained.
So, I LOVE this song by them! One reaction I saw pointed out that having Tim, Austin, and Rob all singing in the key they are was a flex because they are singing in the same key as the original artist.
I hope you have a good weekend. This whole song is sung in the same key Cam sings it.. and Cam's a girl! Shows their versatality. 😊 Chance sang bass in the last group he was in. He has about a 4-octave range. Listen to him and the Hound and Fox sing, "Wayfaring Stranger". And, yes, that's Tim up there with Rob at the end. Catch Chance in "I Can't Outrun You".
Tim has 5 octaves, he’s practically a whole group by himself and Chance can certainly do a beautiful bass. In his last group he was the bass. Austin and Rob do a beautiful job on this one. Robs voice is honey, that’s the word you want…honey. And Adam just kills it as always ❤️🤗🐝

These guys have so much talent and vocal versatility. Most voice instructors state that singing higher actually helps you to sing lower. You need to watch Rob and Austin 'try to sing opera' on Austin's UA-cam channel.
You seemed a bit down when the video started, but it was fun to see you perk up just as soon as the video started. This is exactly why I listen to music. It always makes me feel so much better.
Hey Jess. Nice that the boys could put a smile on your face. The story as I heard it is this. The song got suggested, and they were discussing it. They all kind of felt that if they were going to do it, they wanted to stay with Cam's arrangement. In order to do it they thought that they were short 1 tenor. Tim assured them that he could do it. They wondered about the bass part then. Tim assured them that Chance could do it, no problem. Chance is more naturally a baritone though he did the bass parts in his previous group. So they stretched their comfort zones a bit and here you have it. All these guys are just so talented. A few of them can beatbox (maybe not at Adams level, but who can). Tim does indeed have a full 5 octave range. On a couple of lines you can hear a bit of the low growl trying to sneak out in the first couple notes, but he controlled it, and was amazing. Listen to the guys do How Great Thou Art, and you can even catch a bit of Adam's fine tenor voice too, as there is no beatboxing in that. Feel better Jess. Keep smiling!!
How do they find these people? Partly the answer is that the acapella world is rather small with many different connections. Adam Rupp with his older brother Chris and his childhood best friend Matt Atwood cofounded Home Free. Matt and Adam were in their teens. Adam started beatboxing because he volunteered to fill the spot. The name Home Free was the name of Matt's grandfather's boat. Matt's grandfather helped the group with a loan that they paid back. The group also went through many members. If you want to hear the details of funny events and struggles of HF , Chris has a channel with videos a out HF's history. Robb was the. next permanent member. Like Chris, Adam, and Matt, Rob is from Minnesota and has a music background. He was recruited when he acapella group that he was a member disbanded. Adam had already won a great deal of notice for his beatboxing skills. At this time, all the members were working at other jobs and were performing part time. Tim because the next member almost accidentally. Tim had a reputation as a bass in the acapella world. . Chris had called for Tim for contacts for basses. Home Free was ready to do its first tour and desperately needed a bass. None of Tim's recommendations panned out so Chris asked Tim to fill the spot partly out of desperation. Tim agreed partly as a lark and partly due his wealthy patron of his musical career encouraging it. Rob and Tim especially hit it off in terms of their humor. Tim refused to join Home Free because the members weren't full time and they all lived in. Minnesota. Chris continued to ask Tim who refused to commit full time. Finally, Tim changed his mind and joined the group. Austin was working on the cruise ship as an entertainer where Home Free we're guest performers. Austin was obsessed with acapella. He had performed in an acapella group at Disney. He and Tim bonded over being nerds over acapella music. Rob told Austin that Matt was planning to quit his musical career due to starting a family, his father's illness, and deciding to join his family's business. Austin then replaced Matt. Years after Home Free won the fourth season of n The Sing-Off, an acapella competition show, Chris decided to resign to do his own projects. Adam Chance had been the bass for Street Corner Symphony that was the first runner up on season two of The Sing-Off. Strangely, Street Corner Symphony had tried to recruit Tim as their bass before The Sing-Off began. When Tim refused because he had decided to quit his musical career, Street Corner Symphony recruited Chance for their bass. Chance replaced Chris. All of this is simplified and there are many other connections among the acapella groups and other musicians

And know teaming with Tim, a lot of his work is overlooked or assumed to be Tim's voice. That is until it is CLEARLY SHOWN as Adam Chance's voice. That has to give the people with Home Free so many more options. Nice Post.
To really appreciate Tim's range ... "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow / Stay" It's a solo production of Tim's where he multi-tracks all the parts. Simply epic. Every one of these guys are incredible. They share the spotlight with each other well and are truly enjoying what they are doing. Keep right on going into this rabbit-hole, there's lots of treasures to be found within yet.
You said something about looking puffy… ?? I was thinking, “What is she talking about?! She looks beautiful!” Then when Tim began singing so high, your face lit up and you became even more lovely! Thanks for reacting to Home Free!
Now that you've heard Tim's tenor register, you might want to check out his solo Doo Wop work. He has videos for four of the twelve songs from his album on his UA-cam channel (Tim Foust) and he sings ALL the parts on every song. The videos are for Come, Go With Me; Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay; In My Room; and Since I Don't Have You. The whole album is incredible, and the songs without videos are definitely worth audio only reactions. He also has an incredible version of Can't Help Falling in Love from before he joined Home Free. He accompanies himself on the piano in that one.
Have you seen, possibly reacted to, Home Free's cover of Try Anything? It was the very first song Chance joined them for. If you have, or you do in the near future, please pay close attention to Chance's shirt. It's a band shirt. A stylized S, C, and S. It stands for Streetcorner Symphony. They were a group who did VERY well for themselves on the Sing Off a few years prior to Home Free's season. Chance was their bass. Which a lot of people, myself included sometimes, tend to forget.
Working For a Living and Some Girls Do both have Chance leading, there are more of course, but those are my two current favorites. Yep, my favorites do change around a bit. Lol ❤️
Loved your reaction. Yeah they are all incredibly talented. Tim supposedly has a 5 octave range and Chance was bass for his former group and supposedly has a 4 octave range! I am an obsessed Home Fry... and now a New sub to you! Thanks for all you do!
Wow girl - that's a big one to react to at midnight! Haha Especially after an emotional day. 🤗 Yes, that was Tim over Rob at the end. Tim's got a 5 octave range (no kidding). And it's solid all the way through. The guys performed this in the same key that Cam sang the original in (crazy for all of them!). The impact of this one is substantial on most of us when hearing it the first time - especially if we're familiar with all the guys and what parts they typically sing. But seriously, it's also an incredible arrangement, and the guys never fail to produce amazing music! After hearing this 50+ times, it's still one of my favorites of Home Free. 🥰 Thanks for pushing this one out - appreciate your dedication! I hope you have a lovely trip. Safe travels, hun. 🤗✨
They chose to sing this in its original key as sung by Cam, a female country singer. Just proves their lack of having a female in the group is no detriment--they just let their BASS handle it! 🤣 LOVE the versatility of our amazingly talented fellas!! 🥰. Every member of Home Free could absolutely be a solo ⭐ star ⭐ but their harmonies together are MAGIC!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️ (Workin' for a Livin' is a great one to see Chance sing the lead 😉)
Watch their Crosby Stills and Nash "Helplessly Hoping" where Chance begins as a tenor and is joined by Rob Lundquist in perfect unison. Adam Rupp doesn't beatbox but actually gets to sing. Then on "How Great Thou Art" Adam Rupp gets to sing again on "It is well, with my soul". If you go back to "Man of Constant Sorrow" you'll see that it's again Chance who does the really LOW notes in response to Tim's, "While I am sleepin' in my grave" by singing, "While he is sleeping in his grave". A clue on who's about to sing a line or verse on many Home Free videos is that the editor usually shows a brief shot of that particular individual just before they sing their line. Luv 'em!!
and this is why so many Home Fries suggest you work up to reacting to Mayday, since you need to understand their voices and realize the switches which are made with this song --- good reaction Ayo Jess. I love how you reacted to this as being upbeat, as for me and possibly others, it's a song about a relationship going bad, but neither partner has a better choice so they stay together. You need to listen to the original song by Cam
Rob is smooth. You need to see the other side of him. Check out the video of Rob and Austin singing opera! I'm sure Tim has worked with Chance a lot but Chance was the bass in his former group.
I LOVED your reaction! Youhave a new sub 😊 Tim is so amazing, as they all are, but his range!! It's outstanding! Blows me away everytime. Especially here🤯 I also love "Gospel Rob's" lead in "End of the road"(their cover of Boyz ll Men if you haven't seen it yet) it's incredible. My favorite by them besides, "When a man loves a woman", Austin's "Unchained Melody", "How great thou art", "Blue ain't your color"...
Great reaction! As to Rob having the soft smooth voice while Austin had more grit, I always feel the Austin could drown out Robs vocals to an extent. But, watch Rob & Austin in 2 Country Singers Try Opera. Rob just overpowers Austin's vocals.
Champs Sang Bass and baritone with the last group he was with! It's one thing to listen to Pentatonix or any other acapella group. These guys are so full of surprises, they are Masters at arrangements and harmonies no groups are like, they are all good looking literally, they have the same effect on men as they do on they are all attractive and talented super talented, it's shocking!
You GOT it! You reacted the way you should react to this one noticing all the surprises! In my opinion, Home Free's cover of "Mayday" is better than the original version with Cam! You are now officially Home Fry for "getting it" and you now know more about the members of the band! :) Tim Foust has incredible 5+ octave range. I have heard Tim sing as low bass as F1 as you have said all the way up to A5 which is tenor range!
Thank you for the Home Free reaction. The guys are doing the song in the same key as the original female singer, Cam. That's what going on and of course Austin is even higher than Cam. Guess everyone thought this was a fine song to show off their best stuff. Glad their performance made you laugh and happy for a while. Enjoy your trip!!
New sub here, really enjoy your Home Free reactions-they're an awesome bunch of guys huh?! I've been a Home Fry since 2013 when I watched them win the 2013 Sing Off.
Now you know why the Home Fries always urge reactors to listen to at least 6 other HF videos before getting to "Mayday!" You can REALLY appreciate what they did here if you know what they "normally" do. :-) Now, go back and listen to Cam perform the original...and notice that the guys sing it in exactly the same pitch!!!
This song, the way they perform it, is better than the original done by Cam. I listened to her perform it for like 10 seconds and turned it off. I love this version the most
Tim has a little over 5 octaves, and is constantly working all of it. Chance was the bass in his previous group, but yes, I imagine Chance and Tim have worked together on range. Chance is more like 4+ octaves. There are some good songs with Chance as lead - Cover Me Up, Some Girls Do, and more.

Now you understand why the Home Fries told you to wait before listening to Mayday.
Chance used to sing bass for Street Corner Symphony
Working For a Living and Some Girls Do both have Chance leading, there are more of course, but those are my two current favorites. Yep, my favorites do change around a bit. Lol ❤️
Talk about a masterpiece from the boys!! Ty so much for ur reaction to HF!!
Have an amazing weekend amazing lady. 😉🌹
Great reaction. So much talent in this group. And they are even better live. Tim has 5 octave range.
Rob's voice is so clear you could read a newspaper through it...
Loved your reaction. Yeah they are all incredibly talented. Tim supposedly has a 5 octave range and Chance was bass for his former group and supposedly has a 4 octave range! I am an obsessed Home Fry... and now a New sub to you! Thanks for all you do!
Chance sang bass in his the last group and Tim in his last group was the tenor.
Loved this! 😊
You should check out their cover of , some girls do and one man band.
They chose to sing this in its original key as sung by Cam, a female country singer. Just proves their lack of having a female in the group is no detriment--they just let their BASS handle it! 🤣
LOVE the versatility of our amazingly talented fellas!! 🥰. Every member of Home Free could absolutely be a solo ⭐ star ⭐ but their harmonies together are MAGIC!! ❣️🎼🥰🎶❤️
(Workin' for a Livin' is a great one to see Chance sing the lead 😉)
I adore this song. And yours was a charming reaction. Thanks.
Rob is smooth. You need to see the other side of him. Check out the video of Rob and Austin singing opera! I'm sure Tim has worked with Chance a lot but Chance was the bass in his former group.
Sometimes the music comes to you when you need it.
Good reaction to Mayday. Thanks
Thanks for watching!🫶🏽🫶🏽
Rob is the church singer best describes him
They call him Gospel Rob sometimes
Amen🙌🏽
Great reaction! As to Rob having the soft smooth voice while Austin had more grit, I always feel the Austin could drown out Robs vocals to an extent. But, watch Rob & Austin in 2 Country Singers Try Opera. Rob just overpowers Austin's vocals.
Chance previouusly sang bass for the group Street Corner Symphony, and thats were the bass is coming from when Tim sing higher leads .
You need to check out some of Tim's Doo-Woop solo vids whe he sing ALL parts. Start with "Come Go With Me".
I'd love to hear you react to Home Free's cover of Everybody Walkin This Land. Thank you!
Great reaction to a great arrangement 😊.
Adam sang bass in a previous band he was with.
I keep listening to this just to hear Chance's bass, he has a beautiful tone, it gives me chills😍
Ron seems so soft, as you say, then you isten him in Nessun Dorma, and that's all blown away! He's the heavy. All these guys are capable of so much.
Robs warn honey lol
This song is amazing, loved the reaction 😊
I told you you would like this one. But wait for Chance
Chance used to sing for another group and he was the bass
5 octaves and sub range bass
New sub here, really enjoy your Home Free reactions-they're an awesome bunch of guys huh?!
I've been a Home Fry since 2013 when I watched them win the 2013 Sing Off.
Now you know why the Home Fries always urge reactors to listen to at least 6 other HF videos before getting to "Mayday!" You can REALLY appreciate what they did here if you know what they "normally" do. :-) Now, go back and listen to Cam perform the original...and notice that the guys sing it in exactly the same pitch!!!
Go have your nice getaway Ayo………and you SMILE today for us, because you make the world a better place when you do!!!!!!!! 😊😊😊❤❤❤🎥🎬🎼🎼🎼!!!!!!
Tim - the bass guy - has a five octave range. Yes, incredible and unfair! Half of singers love him and half hate him!!! Love your channel!
Great reaction. Subscribed
Thanks for watching!
Have you seen the video of Austin and Tim do "My Maria" in the backyard....might answer your question about Tim's voice.
I haven’t, sounds interesting though!
Yep, that, and everything else! ❤
