That was some good driving. Just accelerating a bit late out of the apex every now and again, but the other bikes were definitely more powerful I think.

I try not to be salty about converting my FZ over to a race bike because the R7 **exactly** what I want out of a track bike but at least I got my FZ for a banging deal and it’s paid off. The R9 has to be coming at some point right?

Because stupid people built houses right next to a racetrack and now they complain about noise.
There's a subdivision just outside of the racetrack who convinced local officials for a sound ordinance

@@sushi_edits225 Brock's reply fails to take into account a ton of factors. In my opinion, if you're not a upper-level A-group rider, an R7 will actually be faster around most tracks. It's simply easier to ride and has a less demanding power curve.

That is insane how early (and hard) an experienced rider can get on the throttle in the corkscrew. He pinned that bad boy mid-turn while at a super sharp lean angle…and going downhill. That is so counter-intuitive to how my brain works. It just goes to show how much a good rider can extract from a bike vs an Average Joe like me.
He wasnt mid turn and he didnt pin it. its called rolling on the throttle. Only a dipshit or unintelligent person would pin the throttle while leaned into a corner. Go back to msf man
Ironically, that's my slowest sector. The really good riders carry more entry speed into the left and get on the gas even earlier...
The corkscrew is steep at the top and flattens out as you go down, so the wheels and suspension are heavily loaded. You will never get more traction than gradually coming out the bottom of a steep hill.
Ok so Ari was faster than me back when he had long hair but that looks like he is moving around Laguna at pretty fast pace . That R7 looks like turns quick .

Any manufacturer can join moto2, just have to use the glorious 765 engine which has absolutely nothing wrong with it.

What are the changes compared to a stock R7?

The R9 will be better when it comes out and more similar to R6 performance
Twin-engine sound just doesn't fit on a race track. Nice riding Ari but horrible twin sound. Not for me.
Is it a twin? Why would they do that? Twins sound like garbage compared to an inline 4 or triple.
The sound limits at Laguna and many other tracks are embarrassing. Let us ride our damn bikes!

R7/Mt07 is so underpowered it makes me frustrated to watch them

Noise regulations on a race track are the dumbest things.

This wasn't a race weekend, it was a practice day. So yeah, I rolled out.
Just an average streetbike twin from Yamaha. Blasting around a race circuit up to redline lap after lap. Reliably. Without leaks. Without excessive wear.
Japan makes good stuff.
Lacks acceleration on straights. But the torque of R7 is amazing.

Nope. Loads weaker.

It's more akin to an SV650 with clip ons and fairings.
