@@dAbaPEsTA123 So bumping someone is as severe as attempted manslaughter. Even if his intention wasn't to hurt Magnusson, he DID intentionally put a racer in a life-threatening situation. That isn't attempted murder, but it is one step less severe. He should of had his license stripped from him. I've seen dirty drivers, but Berg will always top that list. Even the LeMans tragedy didn't have as much dirty driving as this. On that note, Magnusson drove like an idiot too, he was far too aggressive and unsafe. Doesn't warrant being driven into a wall at over 100mph, though.
@@mattj790 They were both driving recklessly and the Porsche driver could've ended in the same situation as the Vette driver with every bump that the Vette driver caused. So, they BOTH intentionally put a racer in a life-threatening situation. Based on this sole situation, they both should be stripped of their license according to your logic, not just the Porsche driver. However, just like any other sport, when athletes rough up each other in the spirit of competition, the officials usually let things slide. In this case, it was in a high-speed race, therefore, the repercussions seem more severe.
@@dAbaPEsTA123 The porsche blocked the vette multiple times. Vette was on the outside of turn 1 a few times and the porsche drove him into the sand. Besides that last tap in the ass, to loosen the porsche so he couldn't block down the straight, I saw barely anything nearly as dangerous done by the vette as the porsche driving into the rear bumper of the vette at full speed 100 feet from the line. The vette was already past the porsche, that is why it spun in front of the porsche. So the vette had the track, the porsche was the one that needs to pass cleanly. The vette went around the porsche coming out of the turn. Even drove WAY WAY off line to go around but the porsche just kept blocking. Vette was past him as they got to the wall and the porsche then just gave him one last tap in the rear quarter to spin him. He definitely deserved a suspension for that type of dangerous driving.
Started like iRacing semi-pros, ended like Wreckfest no-rules 😆 Thanks UA-cam for this 10 yo recommandation. It already feels like the good old time... especially with the 'vette 💛
Bud, you need to do more research. This is an old race. Bergmiester, the guy in the Porsche, even said he intentionally parked it in the last corner and wanted to push the Vette into the wall to scrub off his speed. Didnt want him to spin though. He's always been sketchy like that. Mag clearly had the better car in this race. The announcers were even commenting on how the Porsche has bad tires. The Porsche was very obviously on defence the entire time. The Vette was on the offensive trying to go around him. That's not sketchy, that's just what hard racing looks like. The "blinding lights" your talking about is also idiotic. The cameras have increased their own brightness for the viewers. Look at the cameras on the cars, that's what it actually looks like. It's a dark track. He's not the only one with his brights on. That's just a bad excuse.
@@redactedrider7606 idiotic is blinding your opponents through mirrors using high beams. Vette has brightest headlights and using it in high-beam mode, it even blinds cameras mounted above the track.
@@ballaking1000the fact that f1 doesn't have many exciting races compared to a lesser class in a regional championship is baffling, for being the "benchmark" it sure can't keep up with itself
@@joaquingonzalez834 "Lesser class" AKA, they are either much smaller and slower cars, it's an oval track or it's a multi-class race. All of those promote overtaking. Which is exactly why I like F1; an overtake actually means something at any point in the race because they are rarer and harder to do; so when they happen is a big moment; unlike the musical chairs in most other motorsports where the individual overtake doesn't mean half as much. Also, F1 isn't the benchmark for constant 'excitement', it's the benchmark for overall speed with the most advanced technology; I thought that much was obvious. F1 sure seems to keep up with itself when those who don't even like F1 completely unprovokingly bring it up on their own, don't see that happening with literally any other series, what's that indicate to you? Whether you like it or not (... but deep down you know) F1 IS the benchmark and the pinnacle of motorsports. There's other series that require more skill, but no series comes close to the stigma that F1 brings and is what most aspiring racing drivers dream about.

That was exciting to watch! Both drove their hearts out and displayed a spectacular battle for the win. I couldn't care less as to whether or not that last move was dirty, it was thrilling!
That penalty ruined the race, and the sad part is Hamilton probably would have won anyway, but Ham backed off after the penalty, because why risk the contact. F1 constantly drops the ball, and the fans lose. Ohh and I 100% expect Ferrari to remember this when it comes to F1, they are the biggest revenue generator, they will find a way to make it hurt for F1.
And how many seconds penalty for the corvette for touching the porsche rear on the last turn? Blocking isn't illegal, the corvette should have break and let the porsche go instead of destroying his own car. Well deserved, you shouldn't win a race at the last turn by touching the other car rear, to make him loose control.

@@DavidC-ro3ro You would after it happened to you once already. And especially after driving the whole race only to be getting shafted in the ass at the finish line due to dirty racing by the guy in 2nd place. Your brain would just simply seek for justice in the heat of the battle.
You have the wrong context. No man with a pair EVER lifts. However, there will always be a racing etiquette to maintain your line, and Berg squeezed him. Period. Case closed. I was about 16 years old when this happened. My dad took me to this race and we were standing at the fence right at the finish line. Felt the debris of the cars hitting us. Been going to this track for 27 years and is still the best finish I witnessed.
No matter how many times I watch this, it never gets old. This was an awesome end of a race. And a bad move by Bergmeister. Great memories! I was a Paddock Volunteer at this race, in Pit Lane about to go out with the crowd control tape to get ready for the podium ceremony when the crash happened. We immediately pulled back in and had to wait to go out. I also picked up a windshield from that Corvette that night after the team had left. It is in now in my garage waiting to be displayed. The windshield from the crash was obliterated after flying out of the car. So I am thinking it was from Practice or Qualifying.
Uh oh, another hurt Vette fanboy, do you mean just let the bully win again by cheating? Playing dirty? This is top class racing, not a hillbilly moonshine run. If you believe in the "rubbing is racing" your redneck es is showing. The bully got exactly what he deserved. Bergmeister was the Pro, driving clean and he got hit from behind as everybody can see. There should be a rule for doing this before finish, instant disqualification. He closed the angle and there was no contact sideways. But the bully was to arrogant to admit defeat and paid the price. Karma is a bitch, when you try to cheat in front of everybody and you fail, it was so satisfying to watch, saved under my favourites.

I went to the Porsche event at this track and I've gotta say I Love This Track! The corkscrew is amazing you can go from one side of the hill to the other and see all of the track from up there.
The best race I've seen live. We were midway down the front straight watching this last battle. We knew there would be some roughness since, as they mentioned, Bergmeister was bumped out of his victory at Sebring back in '07. Magnussen may have had the faster car, but lacked the skill to execute a clean pass on this tight track (Bergmeister holds his line, not making unusual maneuvers to deliberately block Jan..). Thankfully no one was hurt in the wreck, and at least he crossed the line to take 2nd!
Love this series. Always thought that NASCAR should have their top 3 tiers, including the trucks, in one race like this. Have each tier qualify separately to fill 12 positions. 36 race cars on the track. Tell me that wouldn't be perfect!
As a Monterey, CA native, Laguna Seca is hallowed ground for me. I was actually at that race as a kid, and that Corvette sounded way meaner in person than on camera. This was seriously the best racing i have ever seen. That being said, this track never fails to bring exhilerating action nearly every time. I wish we could go back to the days when these cars were literally stripped down versions of the road model with a roll cage. Now, they all have to have more safety equipment and electronics and emissions friendly exhausts and mufflers.
Still holds up. Both putting their cars on the line for the win was nice to watch. The block on the end was a little rough, not sure how I feel about that, the Vette got by him on the last straight so I mean what coulda been
Great video! I was at this race standing just past the Start/Finish Line, I couldn't believe it when I saw the Corvette crash, as a Corvette owner I was pissed also....lol!

In the last corner, the Vette bumped the Porsche in the back and forced his way into the lead, the Porsche driver did what was done to him by the Vette driver.
5:10 I feel u magnusson, if I had a nickle for every time I did that move on gt3, I'd buy every car in that game
Started like iRacing semi-pros, ended like Wreckfest no-rules 😆 Thanks UA-cam for this 10 yo recommandation. It already feels like the good old time... especially with the 'vette 💛
Epic battle, the best I have ever seen. Props to both outstanding drivers. My dream.
9:05 Enough is enough
This guy is a genius, he said this to Jan Magnussen 10 years before Steiner said this to Kevin Magnussen (his son)
Genius.
Holy crap I can’t believe it’s been 10+ years since this. One of my favorite race endings ever.
Corvette: blinding high beams, driving dirty, bumping
Porsche: now it's time for you to eat some shit
The porsche parked it in the corner causing the vette to bump him... bergmeister is notorious for sketchy driving like that
Bud, you need to do more research.
Vette was not driving dirty that’s just some good old fashioned racing Porsche intentionally parked it at the last turn causing the vette to bump him
I just witnessed GT Sport in real life with out penalties...
These last 10 minutes of the GT2 race were better than the last 5 years of formula 1 as a whole.
What's that say about Formula 1 that you're bringing up such a 'boring' sport? Formula 1 sets the benchmark, that's why. : )
@@ballaking1000F1 sets the benchmark for boredom. It doesn't even sound good anymore.

Maybe it's because I still play Gran Turismo 2 and 4 to this day, but the Vette guy reminds me how I abuse the AI.
Dude I never watched any racing at all, and the moves made by that Vette had my adrenaline going insane. Wow.
A 2021 guy, this is probably the best anime fight according to my car addiction.
That is best racing footage I have ever seen!
Watch this from time to time because it was so epic. Never gets old.
That was some intense racing! Them driving skills are top notch
That was exciting to watch! Both drove their hearts out and displayed a spectacular battle for the win. I couldn't care less as to whether or not that last move was dirty, it was thrilling!
I come back to this video every couple months, and i never get tired of watching it
One of the best races I've ever seen!
5 sec pinalty for porche for blocking.
Uppsss it's not F1.
Arif Hidayat 😂 All those penalties ruin the raw racing. We just want to see them fight like this.
😂
And how many seconds penalty for the corvette for touching the porsche rear on the last turn? Blocking isn't illegal, the corvette should have break and let the porsche go instead of destroying his own car. Well deserved, you shouldn't win a race at the last turn by touching the other car rear, to make him loose control.
@@paulosilva11 Well said !
Absolutely love this clip, had to come watch it again because Nick Murray Willis used the "They bumped" in one of his newer videos and I knew it came from this clip
one of the best battles ive ever seen!!!!! that flying lizard team is always so strong... certainly miss em this year
If you can 110% say if you were the Porsche you'd let off after that bump you would be a liar
Eddie Petry I wouldn’t let off but I also wouldn’t put the fucking Corvette in the wall just because he was starting to inch past me
I would do a space push but without trying to kill him
@@DavidC-ro3ro You would after it happened to you once already.
Didnt maintain his line and caused s major off-track collision. Who wants some of these hands? Its not even a debate...you squeezed my team off track and into a retaining wall barrier...someone is getting their inbred white elitist jaw realigned. Who else want it?
If you watch the whole thing, the Porsche closed the door in him a few laps before which cause them to rub and the vette had to go on the gravel.
@@farnum3297 "Vette FanBoy"? NO! "Rubbing Is Racing Redneck? NO! The whole reason why I got into Laguna as a Volunteer is because it hosts some of the Worlds Best Racing. As far as this race, whether what happened was Right or Wrong, It was a great ending. I am not for or against any Driver. They all do what we could only dream of. So I can't hate on any of them. I had spoken to many when volunteering at the track, And Bergmeister is a Cool Dude! Talked to him a few times when I was working the Paddock. I miss those days! But the Memories are forever.
That move... using pit-out to pass is incredibly dangerous... especially with the darkness
Thie is the epitome of racing. I own a corvette (C5 not C6) and I can only begin to imagine the visuals from the cockpit of magnussen. That race with the porsche is a racing dance, it's epic and we need more of this.

Man this was some exciting stuff!!!! Awesome battle. I used to keep up with the series several years ago and this was the type racing you wanted to see.
Things were get'n a 'lil "Forza" out there..
Thankfully no one was hurt in the wreck, and at least he crossed the line to take 2nd!
carzy90 Well... held his line until he ran the ‘Vette off the track at the end... lol
Ran him off twice. Vette shouldn't have tried to be a gentleman and wrecked the Porsche.
Who was driver that crossed behind the Porsche before the Corvette? Lapped car?!
Actually Jan broke or fractured his rib, or one of his bones, I can't remember.
The porsche ran the corvette off the track, i’d say he endangered him. The corvette was faster, porsche should have gave it up.
This is like my favorite race clip. Makes me want to play a racing game
