I believe the grave belongs to Flamme and not fern.
We see frieren alone at flammes grave, mourning.
But then she gets up, facing the world, where eventually she meets fern.
It's Flamme's yeah.
Nope, it's definitely Fern's grave. The silhouette is shaped exactly like Fern; Frieren is laying in the exact same position at the grave and in Fern's lap.
Besides, Flamme's grave would be much more grand than that.
It's such obvious symbolism it's wild to me that it's lost on anyone.
@@virtualmartini bro, we actually see flammes grave in the anime and its exactly like in the outro with the hill and everything.
While I agree that the headstone is probably Flamme's specifically, symbolically it can easily work for Himmel and eventually Fern as well.
It has taken (at least) two impactful deaths for Frieren to seek solace among the living - lying in Ferns lap.
And we can presume she will hold Fern fondly in her memories after her passing.
@@virtualmartini Flamme's grave is not much more grand than that. It's literally that grave. In the episode where she kills Aura and Flamme asks her to plant flowers around her grave they show Flamme's grave surrounded by flowers as part of the flashback and that's what it looks like. The same grave is also shown in the end credits of the season finale.
hey.. just discovered your channel.. dont watch too many animes but every single one i do i also come here for reactions... hope you continue doing them for a long time o//
Welcome aboard!
That moment when Denken called Laufen a dummy for falling for Frieren's bluff and she replied that she knew she was bluffing and wouldn't actually kill him but she would hurt him and she wasn't about to let that happen they basically signed adoption papers.
Denken may be out of mana, but he's not out of options. "I CAST _FIST!"_
I am afraid you are absolutely correct about the grave at the end being Fern's. The silhouette of Fern and the grave are exactly the same, Frieren lays in the same pose in Fern's lap and by the grave - and it's the same hillside. It's very sad but completely in line with the themes of the show.
They throw a lot of characters at you in this arc, making it difficult to keep track of names. Richter being the measurement for earthquakes being an earth bender is how I remember his.
That's a neat trick but it really only works for him. It's better to know that the names are all German and go from there.
I think Richter's history lesson went over your head a bit. He was trying to explain why there is a discrepancy between how modern mage fight vs how old mage fight.
The simplest attack you can cast is "ordinary attack magic" aka Zolktraak lite and the simpler the spell the faster it can be cast. And in the battle of attrition, more attack is better. The perfect example is Fern's battle with Ehre, where Fern constantly volley attack at Ehre until she ran out of mana to defend.
So why don't everyone use it? Why learn spells to control physical object instead? Because defensive magic exist, not only it is effective at blocking magic attack, it was created specifically to counter Zolktraak. The different with Fern being that she mastered the spell and can cast multiple of them, leaving no room to counter.
Modern mage on the other hand have adapted and found different ways to either break the shield, using physically strong attack (Ritcher's rock or Kanne's water), or bypass it, using gimmicky techniques (Ubel's invisible slash or Laufen's tele).
Well surely modern mage will come up with more defensive spell to precisely block those new attacks, you might say. As Ritcher explained, defensive spell is kept simple so that you can cast it fast, if overengineered you might not have enough time to react.
