- We had experienced the awesomeness that is Nightwish, and wanted to know where the vocal talents of Floor Janson had come from. ReVamp is incredible and incredible live as well! I wish we had heard about them years ago!

Floor's first band was After Forever, which she joined at the age of 16. She is about to turn 43 in February. Well worth checking out.
Here is some background information on our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’.
Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera).
'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’.
Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’
Floor joined Nightwish after the iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see.
Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on UA-cam. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered UA-cam in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish.
Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turns 7 years next march) and Lucy (born last october) ,a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.

As Floor's biggest fanboy i can state that Floor today is like a polished diamond, thanks in part to Tuomas Holopainen. And conversely Tuomas received the "whole" Orchestra when Floor arrived
After her first band, After Forever, broke up in 2009, Floor formed ReVamp. She did everything, from song writing to scheduling. This eventually led to burnout, and she had to take a break. Floor was almost back when Nightwish called. ReVamp made a 2nd album, but eventually disbanded in 2016, as her focus was with Nightwish. She joined After Forever in 1997, at age 16.

Enjoyed your reaction. This is actually on the calmer side for Revamp. Checkout Disdain, Wild Card, or Misery's No Crime to here them go even harder. Revamp was all Floor. She put it together, wrote all the music, did all the bookings, basically everything. She started it after her first band After Forever broke up for a number of reasons. Around the same time her long term (7 year) relationship with After Forever's lead guitarist and one of it's founders also ended so she had a lot of anger and aggression to channel into the Revamp songs.

There have been floor fans since forever. At After Forever Floor's hair was already blowing in the wind.
Prior to ReVamp, Floor was the singer for After Forever, which she joined as a teenager. Once upon a time, they toured Europe as the opening act for Nightwish. You should definitely check them out, too.

You want harder eh? I think you need to hear "Yours Is An Empty Hope" by Nightwish from their Wembley 2015 concert. It is much harder than this song was. It even featured in a 30 second clip in an episode of The Simpsons. It has an iconic guitar riff, Floor does her impression of a siren and even GROWLS in that song! 😁

Revamp is Floor's band, she started after, After Forever that she was with for 9 years. After Forever opened a concert for NW in 2004, so they were quite aware of her talents. She may have been asked to join them after they let their 1st singer go in 2005, but she was quite set in After Forever. She started ReVamp after the AF split, she wrote all their songs, sang, et al, she says herself she did everything, & why she had to step away due to burnout. It was during this off period that N W came calling after they released their 2nd singer in 2012. NW did not make Floor, she brought them more vocal talent than any woman in metal. You can watch the NW documentary about this period, Please Learn the Setlist in 48 Hours, which she did, & helped them finish their tour, The rest is history, & herstory!
Btw, Floor is taller than all the men, standing at slightly over 6'1", in boots, & heels she is a good 6'4"!
revamp is floors band she created it road most of there numbers and maked the manic mend the band existed even after she had joined nightwish but veer disbanded when she realized that she don't have time for bout due to the extensive touring schedule in nightwish
When Floor joined Nightwish she was still in ReVamp! After the 2013 Wacken show in Germany that you reacted to, the following year in 2014 she released ReVamp's 2nd CD "Wild Card", which btw if you wanna hear Floor GROWL do "Wild Card" live at Bloodstock 2014. After that album and tour she recorded her first CD w/ Nightwish "Endless Forms Most Beautiful" in 2015 and then toured that album. After that tour Floor disbanded ReVamp to focus solely on Nightwish in 2016

Floor started singing at sixteen with the prog metal band After Forever in 1998. That was 12 years before this concert. The Wacken concert, where she performed the iconic song Ghost Love Score after just 10 months with the band, was just 3 years after she performed at Grasspop. She's currently been singing in Metal bands for 26 years. She formed Revamp after splitting up with After Forever in 2009, and wrote all of the music herself.
Nightwish does go much harder than what you've seen 😁Try 'Master Passion Greed', written right after Tarja (the first singer) was fired.

When Floor was with After Forever she did a cover of Iron Maiden’s The Evil That Men Do in 2003. A very young Floor was absolutely amazing. Well worth checking out.

No its not. When After Forever stopt. Floor started Revamp she is they only one in Revamp who was in After Forever. So Revamp is not a left over.. just a new band.
Floor still has a ReVamp tattoo on her right whrist..
