Floor is the best Singer in my Lifetime. (60y old). I never forget, hear her the first time in the Video of GLS Wacken . After a few minutes, she snapped my Soul .😊🤘
Yes, ReVamp was between After Forever and joining Nightwish. Although ReVamp did continue for awhile after she joined Nightwish, putting out one more album and doing a 2014 tour, on which they played with Sabaton, and she met her future husband, Hannes Van Dahl, the drummer. Even more than After Forever, Floor did majority of the work with band, with writing, management of the band, etc. It was around this time she suffered from burnout, before the call from Tuomas. You got it right, After Forever was her first band. Joost was a member of AF from '04-'09. He produced both ReVamp albums.(and the last 3 EPICA albums)
ReVamp was Floor's band, she did everything , from songwriting to scheduling. That caused her to burnout , and she had to take a break. She was just about back when Nightwish called. They disbanded in 2016 ,as Nightwish was her priority. She was 29 here, she had joined AF at age 16.
Trial of Monsters is another good song from this show.
Floor is one of those performers that naturally draws the eyes of the audience. You can’t help but watch her when she’s on stage and that’s a very good thing….
the voice that this woman had such beautiful growls so strong simply undeniable power even then so clean of vocal abilities better throw up your metal horns ladies & gentlemen the effortless transitions of her going from growling vocals to operatic vocals is quite impressive holy smokes
She puts on an absolute Tour De Force this show .....after the 1st song , barely a clap 👏, she even asks" are we awake grasspop " but by the end she has them eating out of her hand .
The Netherlands has finally taken notice of their Metal Gaddess, long after the rest of the planet!

In February 2009, After Forever ultimately decided to call it quits, and on 16 June 2009 Floor announced through her MySpace site that she had started a new metal band, which put her musical project with Jørn Viggo on hold. On 17 October 2009 Jansen announced that the name of the band was going to be ReVamp.
ReVamp (2009-2010)
Jansen wrote all the music for their self-titled album in 2009.She collaborated with her old After Forever bandmate, Joost van den Broek and Grip Inc guitarist Waldemar Sorychta. The trio wrote and recorded everything, while Koen Herfst (I Chaos, Bagga Bownz, Armin van Buuren) recorded the drum tracks. Afterwards, Jansen recruited new band members for a live band. In 2010, their first album got released under Nuclear Blast.The band began to tour around the Netherlands and had many successful club shows and festivals. ReVamp joined Epica on their European tour.
I've always said that both, Revamp anf After Forever were a soft of trampoline for her, through these years, she learned different vocal techniques in both bands, worked her voice and body, her stage presence, she evolved, and years later, a grown-up Floor, fully seasoned, found her niche in Nightwish, the perfect mix between metal and symphonic music
Blond, foul-mouthed, aggressive Floor at her best. Her raw, unbridled energy in this is just brutal. Also, the keyboardist here is Ruben Wijga, not Joost (pronounced Yost - long "o" sound).
Aussie chapter here….pumping this on my way to work. Revamp was the band between “after forever” and “Nightwish” which caused Floor to have burnout. Joost works with Arjen on Aryeon.

However I remember (if not mistaken) Eric once said (while reacting to High Hopes) it would be an emotionally extreme heavy song for him
@@jonno55 I think now I remember something similar. It is a very different interpretation, with Heart singing a song and Floor telling a story (it was the first time I really listened to the lyrics). Yet Eric's wife would probably still have loved this interpretation also and there is this link to Heart. I would definitely recommend this to Eric as a person, as a husband, not so sure now.

This is from when Floor really tried to find out where her natural musically line was. Just before After Forever disbanded, she made the Northward project (old school hard rock) - and then in ReVamp she made the whole palet from really heavy metal, to beautiful metal ballads like 'Sweet Curse'. I am a die hard Floor fan since After Forever, from she was a long tall teenager with an incredible stage energy and charisma - and a voice with an unbelievable power. And her ReVamp period is actually very interesting, also because of the duets she made with for instance Russell Allen (Phantom of the Opera and Sweet Curse and more).
And then she found her natural musically home in Nightwish, because Tuomas's compositions and lyrics, gave her exactly what she had been searching for. The same goes for Nightwish / Tuomas - they found the greatest storyteller to give real life to the emotions and passions in the Nightwish Universe.

You might want to catch her solo hour at Pinkpop 2022, & NW a couple of hours later. She was a force, & on a high, finally coming out of lockdown. They had a extended stage allowing her great interaction with concert goers. The audience too was on fire.

Another great reaction! This was from a period in her life where she has said she had a lot of anger and it really shows up in Revamp songs. People say it was because she was upset about her first band ,After Forever, coming to an end but I think her anger was more driven by the ugly end of her relationship with her long term boyfriend. He was one of the founders and guitarists of After Forever. He did suffer a burn out but a year after they went on hiatus for his burnout they announced the band was breaking up because they no longer had the desire to work together any more. Given how their relationship ended it was hardly surprising. On Sing Meinen Song while discussing her Northward song While Love Died she said that in the end all that was left was hate.

Some ReVamp history: After Forever disbanded in 2009 after a severe burnout of one of their members. Floor then decided to start her own band; ReVamp. She wrote all the music for their first album (ReVamp, 2010) herself. After the release of this first album, Floor was hit with a burnout herself. It took her more than a year to recover. ReVamp had begun wrtiting new songs for a second album when Nightwish asked Floor (October 2012) to join them for the remainder of their Imaginaerum world tour, since they had, mid-tour, parted ways with their singer Anette Olzon. So the release of the ReVamp album (Wildcard) was postponed to August 2013. In October 2013 Floor became an official member of Nightwish. Even though Floor hardly had any time left for ReVamp, they managed to do another tour. It was on this tour (2014), that Floor met her Swedish husband, Hannes Van Dahl. With Floor being fully occupied in Nightwish, ReVamp decided to disband in September 2016.

'ReVamp - The Trial of Monsters' What a great text. Although this song was written more than 10 years ago, it seems to be about Putin and his Special Operation against Ukraine for this time. Very current.

I saw After Forever on a little free festival,in 1998/1999 I think. For 40 maybe 50 people. The electricity falls out and no panic,they talk about school,they had just fun.
When the things are repaired,they go on if nothing happens. I think the age was 17 maybe 18. I've seen After Forever several times. I never forget this one.
Floor was broken hearted when After Forever broke up it caught her by surprise so when she created Revamp we were seeing an angry Floor for the most part .

Funny , caught me off guard hearing Floor swear on stage lol and what a commanding force she was even back then .
We, the dutch, can swear a lot. And maybe because English is een foreign language for us, swearing in english doesnt sound so bad to us. Fucking hell sounds pretty Innocent to me 😂

Well, I know why they never got on the radar of any USA showbiz gurus: they were in Europe. Can European bands make it in the USA? Yes, but it's infinitely harder for them. That's a different market with different ideas and dogmas.
Musical tastes are radically different on either sides of the Atlantic and while there are many, many Americans who recognize and appreciate value, the numbers, the sizes of crowds, do matter. I remember Chris Caffery of Savatage telling me that in the USA they normally played in front of 200 people. In Germany and in Japan in front of 20000
Plus in those years a female fronted metal band was little more than an oddity. In some circles it still is, metal is a male-dominated world and even in the circles in which I exist as a rock musician many will dismiss female musicians.
I remember when Jinjer became big, the talk of too many guys was "I wonder who she slept with in order to get promoted?". It's ugly.
Many of the songs of 'Revamp' deal with (bad) relationships. This 'angry' Floor can to some degree be seen as a result of the break up of 'After Forever' which upset Floor very much.

aaannnd This is Floor’s band, she started the band , selected the musicians, she wrote most of the songs aaannndd in interviews over the years has left open the idea of possibly reforming Revamp. On pronunciation. In Dutch we distinguish long and short vowels. We know it is a long vowel because it is either at the end of a syllable or doubled. So 'o' is short (as in talk) 'oo' is long like in Floor or Joost (or broke). The 'oe' sound is what is the 'u' in german (as in look). The short 'a' is pronounced as in far. The closest I can get to "joost van der broek" is in IPA "yoʊst vɑn dɛr bruk" perhaps like you would pronounce: Yowst fawn derr brook.
Festivals in Australia are always brutal. It's usually 40°c & very few places have shade. We have a thing now thankfully that free water is available because it becomes a drop zone of people just passing out. I got so sunburnt one year, down the part of my hair as well. Oh that was not nice. And then the ones in Feb we tend to get storms so it's boiling hot then it hammers down so it's gone from a dust bowl to a mud pit.
I haven't been to a festival in years & my mobility is getting worse so I don't even know if I could pound around in the grass for a day, walking miles to get anywhere let alone to & from the car. But the last festival I went to had like Ministry & Soundgarden & Faith no More so if that's it then I'm happy lol

Raskasta Iskelmää translates to Heavy Summer. Last year Tony, JP and Antti were all wearing sleeveless or short sleeved shirts.
One year at Raskasta Iskelmää they had a heatwave, all of the guys took their shirts off because of how hot it was.
Dutch rock festival BBQ : Pork, Chicken and everything that looks like it.
Sauces : Name one and its probably available.
It’s a Belgian festival, so very much the same BBQ as in Holland. 😉

No definitive answer on the BBQ question. I wasn't there. But it all depends on who owns the stand and what he or she wants to sell as "BBQ". But ypu're most likely to find BBQ-ed or grilled hamburgers and sausages sold in a bun. And most likely with baked onion and a lot of ketchup and mayonaise. And especially nowadays for waaaaay too much money.

Ah yes ReVamp I luv me some angry Floor. Floor formed ReVamp and gave us some of the best music of her career (to date, imho) after the break up of After Forever. Rumor has it the break up was caused in part by Floor's friend stealing her boyfriend. You know how those Michigan girls can be ;) (just kidding we still love you Amanda). Anyway You can count me as an I concur for any ReVamp requests.... Ok, some information then. First of all, Joost was not part of Revamp, although he did help Floor in starting the band and writing the music. Btw his name is pronounced as Yoast, similar to the way you say the word ‘toast’. Abiut Floor’s bands: She started with After Forever in 1996 at the age of 16!. After forever went on hiatus in 2008, resulting in their definitive breakup in 2009. Floor started Revamp a few months after the demise of After Forever, in 2010. Revamp lasted until 2016, when she decided to break up the band to focus on her wirk in Nightwish.

Energize me, is a song and music video that sounds very commercialised and was one of the first videos Floor made in her first band After forever. I get why you feel about the music industry as Floor talent could of gain her hi positioning in America but for years she worked hard to get where she is. Now she's trying a new approach but as you know age also matters and she's not as young as she once was. Unless your an actor named Morgan Freeman.

There are not many good live recordings by Revamp (money, niche music then) but this Graspop edition is one of the better recordings. The whole Revamp performance is available on YT, only good songs. Unfortunately this was before their second album was released 😞
She says it's hot up there but it's the middle of summer and she's wearing black leather all over. I'm surprised she was floating in sweat.

Is it me, or is there different dynamic between Floor and the band? I didn’t get the “we are a happy family” vibe. Other than that good performance.
Floor wrote this album with Joost and Waldymar and they had studio musicians for the recordings. Afterwards she casted these guys for live performances and for starting a real band ( they wrote the second album together). The album was released 3 month before this show and they hat only some gigs before.
I always wonder why bands like this breakup. Whether personality clashes or personal tragedies. On a different topic. Angelina Jordan released a tribute to Lisa Marie Presley on TikTok.

Floor had a pretty bad burn out which basically knocked her out for 1-2 years. And by the time she recovered, Nightwish called and asked her to replace Anette.
It was not early in her carrière. Exactly 13 years after het start in After Forever. What a disappointment for the guys of Revamp when Floor decided to stop with the band. Nightwish and Revamp…..two bands was to much for her.
Not to forget her burnout.

I always had the feeling that Floor wasn’t really in a happy place at the time. After Forever broke up which must have been devastating at the time. And from managing everything in ReVamp on her own eventually gave her a burnout. To me, a lot of the ReVamp songs lack melody. I love Floor’s growls but Disdain is too aggressive for me at times.
Floor was too good for the mediocre songwriting. Sorry.
