KTM RC390 5 Years & 64,000km ownership review | Modifications & maintainence tips

- After owning the KTM RC390 for 5 years and learning a lot during my time with it, I've put together this review of the motorcycle. If you're considering owning one, I've shared a few of the products I'd recommend using to increase the performance and longevity of the motorcycle. From the engine oil to the brakes, tyres, headlights, and even crash protection parts, I've tried to cover all updates made to the motorcycle along with the costs of spares during that time and any issues faced with their solutions. If you've still got questions, fire away in the comments section.

😂😂😂Want to sell ur RC390 oggy??....😎
In the world full of Motorcyclists changing bikes in a year or two...be the Oggy and maintain 1 motorcycle for years❤️
I have nothing against people who upgrade their motorcycles. I personally don't feel like I need an upgrade while my current motorcycle still plants a smile on my face everytime.
@@OggyF thats the best reply ❤
@@OggyF *Because your bike is your soulmate!*
@@OggyF well said truth ❤️
I like that you stuck so long with the 390 even though you’re one of the OG and biggest motovlogger with quality content unlike the other similar channels that instantly abandoned their roots and went over to the super bikes and Unrelatable content to majority of the masses
To each his/her own I guess. I hope they and their subscribers enjoy the content when they look back at it after a few years. We're all on UA-cam for different reasons I guess.
Oggy and The Radiator fan: Better love story than twilight!!
I've got 3 radiator fans lying around at home. Was about to figure a dual fan setup before I sorted out the issue. I guess I can use the 3 fans for my pc somehow now...IDK lol
Hahaha😂
😂😂
Anyday
This is a very good example for 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' .
Amen brother.
@@OggyF 😁
True bhai
That was insightful. Thank you. I have stuck with my Duke 390 for 3 years now (49,000 km) and I still feel its the best bike that I can own at this time in my life. It does everything that I ask of it. Could not have asked for a better motorcycle.
If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Congratulations on 3 years. Ride safe bud
still rocking with my duke 390 for 8 years 👌🏻
The fact that you've kept a 373cc engine running for so long and its working like a charm is just impressive!
Im downloading this video right away!❤️
Thank you Aditya. That means a lot.
The video title should be "How to grow with your motorcycle" ♥️
Thank you :). From my FZs to the R15v2 to this, I've learnt a lot about motorcycles. Always better to learn about them and then upgrade so you can be better to your next motorcycle.
@@OggyF Ofcourse man
After all you and pratik are the OG motovloggers when "motovlogging" wasn't even a thing in India.
As a fellow rider i respect you man! Bro fist 👊
I wished I had seen your contents soon.... I am a owner of RC390 2017, I was on the fence of buying new bike.... but something you said made more sense and can correlate relevant to even today. Thanks for the heart touching content.
You are the absolute best brother.. following since 2015!
Thank you for the continued support Protkarsh. Ride safe.
Fantastic review 👍
Watching a biking video after so long and I'm glad to see you are still sticking to what brought you to the dance - being sensible, sincere and understated. Cheers man!
Thank you Azlan. Nice to see your comment here. Still remember how I missed meeting you the last time I was in Bangalore. Hope you're doing well bud. Ride safe.
@@OggyF Yep - that one's due for sure. We'll catch up either in Bangalore or Bombay one day.
Really Love your videos !!! My whole family including my grandparents watch your videos !!! keep it up, All the best :)
Woah thanks a lot. Nice to know that I have family friendly content :D. Ride safe bud.
It's always pleasing to hear from you ! Cannot agree more about the upgrade 👍
Thank you Sanket. Glad you could connect with the upgrade bit :). Stay safe .
Watching youtube, I'd started to make future plans already. First an interceptor and then on to a cbr650r and then finally a ninja 1000. But after watching this video, I felt so satisfied and happy about how different a person can think. And how whatever you said makes so much sense. Kudos to your lovely partnership experience! If there's anything I'm learning from UA-cam, this is it. Thank you Oggy! You said enough in this 15 minutes to change several things in my life further.
Godspeed!
Glad you found the information useful . I have nothing against upgrading if people know why and when it's right to do so. The issue is with upgrading because of peer pressure vs an actual need. Than you for watching.
What a lovely video. I dare say I'll subscribe.
best youtuber since 5 years im watching ... i might say i get a lot of knowledge from u brother, god blessu , chao
Mah man. As always sensible content which can be used by other rc owners. Thank you for going indpeth content with your bike. Really appreciate you taking your time our for this. Cheers
Thank you for watching Yash. The audience for these type of videos is very niche. Glad you found the information useful
Even I have the RC 390, 2015 model same as you, the only bike I've been riding without upgrading and honestly, I just love it.
i just love how calm and composed you are, and another amazing video yet again keep it up..
Thank you Arsalan.
I liked the ending part though ! 🔥
I just found the exact represntation of feelings that I have towards my motorcycle.
Keep on making delighful videos
Cheers
Thank you Sanket. Glad you were able to relate.
Yay I got a shoutout for the second time. Thanks for the informative video.
Thanks for the comments and for watching. Ride safe bud
Really nice recommendation and resourceful
Thank you
One of the best videos of proper ownership experience of a bike that deserved such a use. :). Many upgrade just because something else caught their attention as you mentioned on youtube, or something in the spec sheet !! Not realizing the potential to build skills with the existing bike. I have tried the rc390 once and it is a hoot to ride. Couldn't open the taps fully as it was a rental :).
I still remember Rage’s delivery video
I didn’t knew about your channel at that moment but after watching few of your videos can’t stop my fingers from subscribing👍🏻
Bloopers were 👌🏻😂
Thank you Jaimin. I've been reading your comments on most if not all videos . It means a lot.

My RC 390 is 5 years old now (Sep 2015)68000kms done so far. And I love her. Such a Raw Power ❤
Congratulations on 5 years with your motorcycle too :)
@Prathvik are you having any issues with your RC 390? I hear that they come with tons of issues and can even burn up
Bro im planning to buy rc 390 from olx which has done 25000kms is it a good deal?

Excellent way of explaining how to maintain the bike, your the best Oggy!!
Thank you bro
Last time I was this early I was 15 years old and Oggy use to own R15! Now I am 21😃
Hahahaha damn. This is a full throwback comment
Hi android
Same! I am also here since 2015😂
Ur videos r always real💯❤️
Keep it going oggy, kudos to rage and u 👍🏼
Thank you Samir.
Great reasons to stop getting tempted towards newer machines (in general) and focus on unleashing the maximum potential of the present machine before upgrading... This tops the list of the best contents on your channel... 🙌🏻 bravo ✊
Thank you kind sir.
Wonderfully Put Together! 🙌🏻☺️❤
Thank you so much bro!
@@OggyF Always A Pleasure Man! 🙌🏻❤
When i was 14 i started watching oggy f that time he had R15 later the day he bought rage home i just love the bike and i want rc390 to be my first bike.Later when i became 17 the new rc wasn't good as the older one. So I was confused for which one to go for, later i watched his video riding benelli 302R and i got positive review from oggy so i ended buying benelli 302R. And learned to care my bike watching oggy maintaining rage. Oggy is probably the best guy to make videos on these type of content. Lots of love oggy from Nepal❤🇳🇵
Thank yo bro. Really nice to know that you're happy with your motorcycle. Hope I can ride in Nepal sometime in the furutre. I've seen videos of your roads and they're breathtaking.
You have a supernatural power to increase the attention span of an individual...never get bored of ur content...I've been RC390 owner fr only 6months nw and I don't know when il upgrade bcz as u said I'm yet to unleash this baby to its potential but I'm gonna keep this one always with me just like my 2005 Pulsar 150...
Thank you Rosh. Glad o know that you've kept your previous motorcycles too. If only I had more parking space lol.
@@OggyF I get too attached with the things I love and it's my dream to keep every bike I own...hope so God lets me keep up at it...m d same guy who sent u the KYT helmet pic on insta 😊

A wholesome video and btw, Thanos was a nice touch 👏👏
Hahah glad someone got it. Thanks for the support.
I am also using my motorcycle for the last 5 years and I am still happy with it. Though nowadays I am feeling like I need some more power while doing the long rides. Hope that someday I will save some money and buy another one. Good content. 👍
Nice to see that there's more people keeping their motorcycles for a longer period. Good job!. Seems like you found your reason to upgrade. I wish you luck with that :). Thanks for watching.
this video helps a lot and specially genuine long term review for ktm
Thank you Abhit. Glad you found it useful
Awesome video, man. Your experience with your RC 390 is #goals material for my own journey with my 2019 390 Duke. I also intend to keep mine for a long time as well.

Thank you Sanket. Will try and upload the next one soon.
Though i don't have a motorcycle yet, but watching you taking care of Rage will surely help me in maintaining one when i get it.
I wish I knew half the things I know now when I got my first motorcycle. I'm sure your first bike experience will be better than mine :)
Just Realized u made Superb statement there " Engine is the heart of d motorcycle n Engine oil is the Blood which runs through that" . Cheers Brother !!
Thank you Ashish. Glad you liked the video.
You always good in explaining.
Thank you Surender
Some content that actually helps the people and so did other videos ( sensible motovlogers that is rarer than a white tiger), thank you for this video
I appreciate that! Thanks for watching and commenting :)
Hey! Liked the video even before it began! 👍.. congratulations on the anniversary 🎉
Thank you kind sir. Will celebrate with Rage over some "extra-premium" fuel :)
Aww! I should be the one thanking you once and again Sirji... I've taken your good advice as I got mine, her names Blade❤️ in October 2016 🙏👍

Good info bro👌
100% agree that there's no need for an upgrade until you can make the most out of the current bike. Loved the vid!❤️
Thank you Aquib. Glad you liked it.
Last bit just made worth of listening the whole time about bike and what made u keep the bike. Well said and to the point.
Have we out grown our bike to upgrade 👍👍👍
Glad you agree Jay. A lot of people need to improve their riding before crashing a bigger motorcycle.
@@OggyF Totally agree with u... will wait to see what and when u upgrade. God bless U . Ur content are awesome, keep up the good work buddy.
Damn!!! That was a really nice video..
Thank you Achintya. Glad you liked it
As soon as you hear the name KTM, everybody just remembers the Maniac riding style of the rider and nothing else! Kudos to you for being that mature and caring pearl in a world of pebbles! Keep inspiring Oggy and keep riding far and beyond! We love you! ❤
Thank you Aashish. Unfortunately people associate chhapris with specific brands/motorcycles when I've seen chhapris on litre class motorcycles too.
And Oggy I say you need to copyright the word Chhapris! Can be used only by you and your followers 😝🤘
U r genuine as always!! I like that about u!!
Thank you Ronnie
Superb bro... Thank you for these information... 💯

Lovely video Ogden 😍 everything was perfectly summed up.
And the end credits...🤣🤣🤣👌🏻
Thank you so much 😁. Glad you enjoed the bloopers too lol
That philosophical part made a lot of sense. It's great that you've spoken it out loud when all the world teaches is nothing but consumerism
Lesson to learn for many.... Take care of things and they will last.
Great video as always! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you glenn. Social media has suddenly turned into a rap video where everyone is flexing the money they earn and expensive things they've bought/borrowed. We're bring conditioned to want instead of appreciate.
Couldn't agree more.
Some in other comments also rightly pointed out that the other youtubers aren't relatable anymore.
I definitely can relate to it
I'd started following a few youtubers including you after buying my first bike for suggestions and tips to improve my riding....and you're still in my subscription list...unlike the others simply because I could not relate to them anymore!
Tc man! Hopefully it's possible to have meetups soon!
Good day!👍👍
Amazing Ownership Experience 😁 This Video Was So Helpful 😇
Glad you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Wonderful video.
One of few influencers on social media who is posting sensible content.
Anyways would like a detailed video on how to maintain a bike in healthy shape and how to diagnose problems on the same .
Thank you Vedant. I've created a playlist on some of the things I've done titled " RC390 Maintenance". Will try and upload more to that playlist.
All words makes sense. Thank you
Thank you for watching.
I could relate so much to you. Being an owner of RC390 for 5years, i decided to hop onto 390 Adventure now only for the comfort and cross country rides in plan. You very rightly said upgrade only when you know you have used the full potential. I think 390 is more than enough for Indian road conditions so mine is a lateral upgrade rather than an upgrade high. Low on maintenance and high on mileage too till my requirements gets higher. Anyways keep sharing such videos, feel good to watch sensible videos rather than many clowns.😊
I'm in a similar place right now. After riding the adventure 390, I was really impressed. A lateral upgrade is still an upgrade if you know what you're looking for. Thanks for watching and congratulations on the new motorcycle.
Hi oggy!
It was nice to see you on the screen after 2 weeks & your vlog was as always best !
And Your journey with Rage goes long & safe !

Thank you Gurang. Hope you and your family are safe too.
Damn, didn't know Oggy was gonna leave us with a life lesson. Great video as always 💯
It was either that or a blooper .....so I included both :)
I was looking for a proper review of the RC390, I'm from Holland and want to buy one soon. Very handy tips for keeping the bike cool! But i doubt that issue is here in Holland because it's 8°C here 🤣
I instantly subbed, this content is 10/10!
Haha you probably won't even need a radiator fan in that weather my friend. Thank you for the kind words and welcome aboard.

Nice ownership review. So by seeing your review I could improve my duke 390 parts so I could be used for longer duration. Love from Bangalore.
Keep Uploading videos like that. Your channel will gonna reach 1M soon.
Thank you Shivang. Just working on keeping the quality consistent.
Thanks for all the information Oggyf.
I own a bs4 rc390 and I adore it. I also have a yamaha fz as a daily in city commuting bike. With reference to the last part of the clip regarding why you kept the bike for so many years and didn't upgrade makes sense. If I am entirely happy with my bike based on the expectations I bought it I think I can live with the bike for its own lifetime.
Right on! The yamaha fz was my first motorcycle. Would've kept it if I had the parking space. Lovely motorcycle too
@@OggyF FZ is just a very strong and reliable and do anything ho anywhere take any torture bike and low maintenance. It's a keeper. Thankfully I have space for both and I am not letting go of it as it's the first bike I bought for myself. The max I can do if I buy anything else in the future is to give my fz to my dad. :)
Thanks for responding to all the comments on your channel.
Correction. My rc is bs4 and not 6
Your videos are worth waiting 😊
Thank you Prashant. That means a lot.
Hey Oggy, great video, wishing you many more happy miles with your RC. I recently got a Duke 390 and had a question about the engine oil. Do you buy it yourself and then give it to the mechanic at the KTM service center or do they give you a range of options to choose from? Thanks
Good Video Oggy, I have been using my RC390 since it first came out in 2014.. and although I have kept it entirely stock..my experience on it with 40k+ kms on it has been great... completely agree the bike does require watchful eyes and regular maintenance (which I feel is the norm for any bike) ... it's still runs fab for me and does check all my boxes of everyday usage and the occasional long rides.. in fact my longest ride was from Chennai to Delhi in Dec 2018 and the bike exceeded my expectations.(#touchwood). Cheers to Rage and thanks for sharing awesome content as you always do!
Awesome to hear Abhishek! Glad you're happy with the motorcycle and it's running well. Congratulations on 6 years with it :)
@@OggyF ❤️❤️🙏
What a lovely video! I echo the sentiment that people who think they've outgrown their bike should hit the track with it 😁
But two questions, this is something I already asked you on IG but while not knowing you already have a piggyback ECU. So,
1. The performance air filter you added offers an improvement at the low end, over and above what's offered by the piggyback ECU?
2. For the map switch, you said the M2 is for touring and the M1 for race. On their website, they mention M1 as Race and M2 as Race+. Any idea what's cooking there?
Once again, a lovely video Oggy. Thanks for making it.
Nicely maintained 💯🥳👍
Thank you 🙏🏻
Hi Oggy F thank you for the video appreciation all the info you shared bro very helpful 👍 😊 been watching your videos and following you since 2018 God Speed Bro 🙌 (may I know the brand of the jacket you are using the grey one it looks really good )

Hey Oggy Thankyou for this informative video brother, I have a Duke 200 which is almost more than 7 years and still working fine....I just want to know where you got your NGK Iridius Spark Plug From?? Any Help in this please?

@@OggyF wao 😍😍😍😍
I have been using my Duke 200 for close to 7 years now and can second to your thoughts in this video... And now when I was planning to upgrade to Duke 390, this makes me to think again as I am more of occasional rider who goes only on long rides which I have enjoyed riding even on my Duke 200
If you're really hellbent on upgrading, I'd recommend the adventure 390. Better electronics and comfort (since you already have the duke)
