- Let's explore another of the 7 Sisters, Alustriel Silverhand.
The 7 Sisters are the immortal Chosen of Mystra that have made great names for themselves as spellcasters. Alustriel is arguably one of the most well-known of the seven sisters, and in this video we dig into what makes her so significant.
If you haven't yet watched our video on Laeral Silverhand, another of the 7 Sisters, you can find that video here: • Secrets of the Lady Ma...

The Simbul ⭐️ please
@@robertzsombok7661Lol..you beat me to it 🤣 ..yes..the Simbul please!
I would love information on Murghôm, the dragon kings and how they rule/interact with each other. I can’t find much about them.
I really enjoy this format of lore video!!!! Any chance for longer form and / or deeper dives ?
Oh Ed, what a question, all of them, please! 😅
🙂 Thank You.
You're very welcome! I'm having a blast doing these!!!
Thanks
Silverfall is one of my favourite D&D books for sure :)
Geek Knights actually sounds like a really fun idea.
I adore the idea of the hand of mystra - just going around, planting bits of knowledge and wonder for people to find, and inspiring others to take up the arcane arts. I think that's something I'll have to bear in mind for future games and characters :D
Lady Oluevaera Estelda! Knew she’d turn up eventually. “ Peoples, attend me” indeed
Thank you for this!
As a fan of the Seven Sisters I would like to see the return of all of them.
nice to see the upgraded production!!!
Imagine how wondrous having a mage such as Alustriel just drop in and offer you a few days of tutelage in magic... 😊
Just found your channel. It’s great! Time for a deep dive.
Can't wait to see the video about Storm!
I miss your stories so much. I hope there are more in the future!
Coming soon!
@@edgreenwoodofficial so glad to here that! I just joined your Patreon at the free level a few minutes ago and will upgrade to the $25 tier Friday when my disability check comes in for the month.
I do like the storytelling that Ed provides. It's as if the whole of Toril exists within his mind (which, I guess, it does).
I dig this fireside chat-lile format!
What an absolute treat as always Ed, thank you! It's always a pleasure, as well as a privilege to learn more upon such topics and within a rather entertaining fashion I might add. I find myself rather eager to hear and learn more of the the rest of the Sisters and chosen as a whole, however, if I had to choose one or two I hope to hear of soon I'd have to go with Storm Silverhand as well as Dove Falconhand. I thank both you once again and look forward rather eagly to what's to come next!
Videos about Dove already in the pipeline, vids about Storm I'll write as soon as I can!
Great video guys keep it up
That's nice geekknights. Sounds amazing
WAAAAAA FINALLY i love her so much I was so heartbroken she was MIA for so long. She's my mom, she's my best friend, she wants to see the best in everyone, she's stretched too far, she needs to be in two different places at the same time. I hope she enjoys her retirement
Well although this is what is the written words, should it be true or not, it is up to you to decide.
I was personally so bummed by the Silver Marches/Luruar fizzling out, and by way of "oh, those somewhat interesting orc dynamics? too bad they're a generic horde fighting 'civilization' again!" too.
Hope Alustriel's still having fun whilst doing roving magical stocktaking.
Me, too. However, that particular dream isn't dead yet...
@@edgreenwoodofficialI just want to thank you for your wonderful world, in which I have spent many years forging my own stories and adventures, I am getting wiser and my beard is getting white, but both lack a lot to even come close to yours 😊.
I really like the direction the Realms took towards the end of 2nd edition, especially the new realm of Luruar. It is unfortunate that it did not last, but considering we never advanced beyond the golden age of the Realms and Realms lore of 2nd edition, no one is the wiser.
Thanks Ed for some more critical lore. 😮
This is brilliant. I would love a book all about the sisters as they are in the 1490s and about what the realms might be in for going into the 1500s. 1499 is going to have a wild new year.
I hope that the Silver Marches returns and maybe even forms an alliance with Many Arrows
Sylune, Dove, Simbul and Qilue are all dead by the 1490's.
Perhaps my party needs to be paid a visit by Mystra’s hand.
I look forward to the seeing Ed get to the odd one out of the Seven Sisters.
Do you refer to Qilue Veladorn?
@@jamesbellefeuille2926You know it
I miss the Lady Saharal 😢 Ed. Please bring her back. 😭
I have devious plans...
@edgreenwoodofficial Yes! Salute sir! 🫡 Thank you!
A "Return to Sarharalgard Adventure" would be oh so sweet. And to see my beloved Lady Saharal would make this old wild mage feel young again. 💗
So Out of the Abyss had a cameo of Alustriel in Gravenhollow. Any clues as to what she was up to there? :)
Does anyone have a direct link to the guide Ed mentions at the end?
Bro are you kidding me Elminster himself has a fucking UA-cam channel?! 🙌
I’m going to watch every video on this channel today 🫡
I would love to see a write up on Quile. Please, oh please oh please. Her death prior to the 4th edition was unnecessary.
I have plans!
@@edgreenwoodofficial Hazzah! Now let's see it posted.
In my head cannon the reason Laeral couldn't resurrect Qilue was because Lolth resurrected her, wiped her memory, and dropped her in the Vault of the Drow in the Greyhawk setting to serve her (can't resurrect what has already been brought back to life). Which would mean Laeral, Storm, and Alustriel need to go on a spelljammer, go to her, and restore her memories. Ed can call it, "Silverfall 2.0 - Adventures in Space..." ;) (I would totally read that, btw, ha ha!)
Nice! In my campaign one of the NPC colonist of New Hym on Anchorome is a bugbear named Boris Buckley who is from Silverymoon.
Boris was an orphan and as an experiment one of the Sages of the Vault decided to raise him in order to determine whether the nature of a bugbear can be changed through better parenting. Boris was raised to be civilized and although he desired to become a member of the Order of Scribes he lacked the aptitude with magic to do so. Instead he family found him work as a Calligrapher for the Vault copying and transposing texts. Being a bugbear he was almost always left aloof by the other Sages and rarely trusted which hurt him but he grew used to it. Thus when he learned of an ancient and secret item rumored to be somewhere in the continent of Anchorome he requested the Vault send him to record "flora and fauna" for the Vault. Of course the Vault agreed glad to be rid of a bugbear, even a 'civilized' one, and Boris was off to work as the record keeper for the colony of New Hym and to search for an item so powerful that Mystra was forced to curse it since even she was unable to destroy it.
This item I have to keep on the DL I case a party member finds this, but they are totally unaware of it's existence and how it motivated at least three people to colonize Anchorome in search of it. It's the end campaign content and I used it as a mcguffin to explain why Anchorome was returned to Toril instead of destroyed when Abier merged with Toril. Since the item was created on Toril it anchored Anchorome/Maztica to the planet so when the continent disappeared to Abier it was only a matter of time until the item forced the continent back to where the item was anchored. And the item only ended up on Anchorome in the first place because some devotee of Mystra couldn't destroy it so they chose to hid it as far away as possible.
Of course there is also the mid-campaign content of a three way war between Baulder's Gate, Neverwinter, and some small country noble from Tethyr whom the royalty don't support ie Tethyr won't enter the war to protect the colony he started. We're almost to this section of the campaign. Still working through a character background to get to it.

"to benefit the lowly" but not the short! 😂
Man, Sundabar got wrecked and every member of Luruar just hid in their homes while book characters keikaku'd the orcs away.
When there are multiple words in different settings with the same meaning in the same language, would you consider these part of different dialects of the same language or that both are part of the same dialect but that one is more commonly used in one world (for example, the elvish word for elf is tel’quessir in the Realms and is alfen in Exandria)?
It means there has been contact/migration between the settings/worlds/planes, so they're different dialects or the languages have developed differently from place to place (so, "yes" to both of your "or" choices).
@@edgreenwoodofficial Thank you. So, for example, would alfen be in the vocabulary of an elf in the Realms, even if it was less used than tel’quessir? Or would it only be known by an elf who has had some experience with the elvish language on Exandria?
Ed, what do you think of Alustriel appearing in the new Eve of Ruin adventure set to come out soon? So far DnDBeyond has not said anything about “past activities” of the character but she still seems to possess the Staff of Silverymoon
a comment for the numbers brother
Why does a chaotic good mage join a group that promotes law and order?
Because it keeps the maximum number of "civilized" people alive in that harsh region, and so promotes prosperity and raises the standard of living, which in turn allows the "chaotic good" folk far more personal freedom to live their lives as they see fit.
@@edgreenwoodofficial thank you
It's good to finally get an update on Alustriel's whereabouts.
I'm curious though, isn't she at least somewhat upset with Mystra ordering her to abandon Silverymoon? While it's completely understandable to be fed up with the political BS after dealing with it for literal centuries, she still has put her heart and soul in the establishment of the Silver Marches.
All very nice. So my question as a DM running a campaign that takes place in 1489 DR (loosely based on the 🐉Tyranny of Dragons 🐉 module) - given Alustriel considers Elminster a close associate, how doable is it for her to play hostess to a gathering in which a party of player adventurers meets the legendary Wizards Three? In-story, an evening of diversion for all the involved parties before...plot happens. Out-of-story, a fun little Easter egg hunt for my players.
These PCs, busy chasing the Cult of the Dragon to thwart its designs, have heard Tiamat referred to by her Krynn-specific alias, Takhisis, and deduced that Takhisis is most likely an aspect or avatar of the evil Dragon Queen. Thus if any of them name-drop Takhisis in Dalamar's hearing, at the very least, he'll immediately latch on and demand to know everything. (Cleric, I'll call him Trynnicus, and Fighter, I'll call him Aidan, seem most likely to let the name "Takhisis" pass their lips.) Dalamar might even give the party a magic item or two that would be useful in fighting Tiamat and her legions.
And two of the PCs (Wizard, I'll call him Tristram, and Bard, I'll call her Ariel) have had prior dealings with the infamous Oerthian wizard Tasha (under yet another of her many aliases), with Tristram profiting considerably as a result. If a piece of evidence comes to light, Mordenkainen will recognize Tasha's fingerprint on the whole debacle right away, and will single out one or both involved PCs for interrogation - and possibly some more challenging test. That and Ariel would probably be of some interest to a planeswalker, however brief, for other reasons...
As to Elminster, I figure he'd be the most outwardly warm and friendly of the three, and would encourage all the PCs to be at their liveliest. But even so, as a general rule, archmages never suffer fools gladly. The party includes a sorceress (I'll call her Titania) with both Subtle Spell metamagic and a written-in personality trait of "Thinking is for other people. I prefer action." As such, I could do something to provoke Titania into trying to sneak a spell past the archmages via her metamagic, and if her player rises to the bait, I'll have Elminster be the one to call Titania out on her rashness. (It's no good using metamagic when there's at least one archmage who can feel a shift in the Weave from over a hundred feet away.)
Certainly Alustriel would play hostess to such a gathering...and the fate of Titania would depend on how amused the Wizards Three will be at her effrontery. ;} Have fun!!!

No relation to Johnny I take it
How many times has El gotten murdered lol, and lets call a successful murder of El anything that causes him to abandon his corporeal form unwillingly. :)
Not for nothing, but you guys killed off half the seven sisters 15+ years ago.
