@@Malvisk Mine is 1358 DR, using 1E FR Campaign Setting (albeit with all the setting books from 2e used as well for more detailed descriptions of nations and areas) so it's pre-Time of Troubles and it probably won't happen in my timeline.
same! ..even tho I don't mind the Spellplauge and after, anything before is good read and nostalgic for me. ..good vid Ed! ..love anything dealing with the 7!
I honestly dont mind the current realms but I understand why it meant so much for the community considering the sources of ancillary information are quite impressive. Id even say id take this setting over whatever westeros is.
I figuratively threw the book across the room when Qilue died (it was an audio book I was listening to when driving and deciding swerving the car into the lake I was next to would not be a good thing, ha ha...). I'll confess, I was mad when Dove died as well at the end of the Herald. It was so late in the novel we didn't even get a mourning scene by the survivors. BUT if they do bring some of them back, I hope WOTC does something cool with it in universe. A novel or a campaign like for Duty and Deity...
No matter what happens legally to your beloved Realms Mr. Greenwood, they belong to you and you alone. We all think very highly of you and your great work and wonderful dream that will live on long after you and I are gone.
@@JoeStoryteller You might think that, but they were created by Mr. Greenwood. As long as he lives, I consider them his and we are just borrowing them. Granted unless Mr. Greenwood himself makes it known to all of us what he wishes to do with it.
Its such a treat to have Ed sharing the real lore and vision of his world with us. The first fantasy novel I ever read was an early Forgotten Realms book when I was around 7 or 8. I remember borrowing my uncles Dragon magazines and 2e books and poring over every details of the realms I could absorb. Without Ed's writing and contributions to the fantasy world, I wouldn't be a DM today. Every one of my campaigns to this day takes place in Faerun. We've been everywhere from Nevewinter to Myth Drannor and to Thay and back. Thanks for everything Ed.
Very cool lore. Just an idea, any chance you could considering doing ecology videos of monsters, like the Dragon articles you wrote way back? Reckon there must be plenty of cool monsters that prowl the Realms that we have no idea of.
1:02 "Magic was precious and to be used sparingly, not flung around casually ro do things brawn and daily diligence could accomplish" A spellcaster after my own heart (unless that includes cantrips, which I use with reckless abandon). 10:39 Oh, I knew Draconic had an alphabet (Iokharic), but I didn't know there was an actual language developed for it. WotC released a book with creatures designed by children (Misplaced Monsters), one of which was Sheldon the Bluberry Dragon, shown in the art holding a bag that says "blueberry" in Iokharic, but using the same letters (so I was assumed Draconic was just an in-universe language, but without a known vocabulary out-of-universe).
I somehow relate my characters to Dove Falconhand: Seldom speaks but does thought out actions and is a rock for the group as they seem to get things done while everyone else was distracted. Now if only I can focus on martial prowess and not worry about magic...
Seh-loo-nay? I've always heard it as Seh-loon. Who is this man? What are his credentials? Does he even know what he's talking about? 😜😅 Seriously, I learn so much from these videos. Thank you, Ed. 🙂
This does make me wonder if it could be possible to create a construct that could act as essentially an avatar for Dove. Something with a strong tie t the weave and connection to her in particular. A simularcum type construct probably can't be created because of her quasi divine nature. But maybe some kind of living construct along the lines of the warforged from the Eberron campaign setting might be possible.
Ed ur a god! Have you ever been apart of these fabled D&D games that apparently the writers and editors of D&D used to play back in the day? Did you play Elminster and Bob Salvatore play Cadderly with Elaine Cunningham playing Elaith Craulnober and Jeff Grubb DMing? Or did you all play new characters? And if so did those characters make it into the realms officially?
Doing my best to learn from the mighty Ed Greenwood please correct me if I misunderstanding this but as I look into more and more of these episodes The Weave seems more like a fluid. It's expanded to stretch thin and then it becomes recharged again. Via Dawn's light or any other amount of hours
The realms version of Tyr lost his hand to Kezef instead of Fenrir like the original mythology. How did Fenrir’s binding go in D&D’s Ysgard if Tyr lost his hand to Kezef?
Something else I was wondering today. Might one of the seven sisters who is now a weave ghost (or perhaps all weave ghost together as a collective group) be able to be an eldritch patron to a warlock. If so, then perhaps having such a patron would grant such a warlock abilities along the lines of the Knight of the Weave prestige class fro 3rd edition. Maybe if somehow the weave itself was the eldritch patron and the weave ghost act as voices within the weave guiding and making demands of such a warlock. Such characters could make for an interesting element for the realms, but how could it be done in an acceptable way that makes sense with the already established lore.
That's a very good question, because I remember reading in The Herald that Florin is dead for decades and Dove was still mourning him. And that's the reason she died in the final battle.
Holy cow enough with the lame hannah barbera sound effects and jump cuts youtube bros, it actually doesn't hypnotize us old coots for longer views ( I am assuming your demographic but I could be wrong). Just let Ed tell his stories without the baby edits, they are engaging enough.
Whomever is producing these vids....JUST LET ED TELL THE STORY. Your attempts at "humor" come off as stupid and unprofessional. We dont need cartoon pop ups to listen. The story and lore are why were here. ...NOT the amaturish pops ups and cut ins.
Ed, no matter what WoTC does to your realms, I will always be stuck in the year 1371DR. It was such a great time in the Realms.
Same, but make it your own and walk forward into your own timeline. :) my campaign is in 1374 DR

Dove is one of my favorite FR characters by far.
It's like a kind grandfather telling story thank you and keep up the great work
Ed thank you for all that you do. Praise to the maker of the realms.
Each and every one of these is not just informative, but lovely and relaxing to listen to. Thank you for making them :)
I would really like to see the return of all of the Seven Sisters. In my opinion killing some of them off was a huge mistake.

Love ya Ed. You're a fountain of lore and just an overall awesome human being.
The Seven Sisters is one of my all time favorite fantasy books. They are all so wonderfully unique and terribly powerful.

Loved Dove in the Drizzt novels
I really would love to learn about Karsus, the strongest wizard in history. Yea, we know that he was powerful, but how was he like as a person?
Ed, I’m so thankful for you and your storyweaving gifts!

Awesome video! I always wanted to learn more about Dove!
Thanks Ed! You inspire so many of us.

Thanks Ed!

May the fallen Lady's of Silver rest well, and may Vanderhaghst burn for what he did to the Simbul

How is Florin still alive after Dove's death-- close to 160 years after their marriage?
That's a very good question, because I remember reading in The Herald that Florin is dead for decades and Dove was still mourning him. And that's the reason she died in the final battle.
