Mystra was forced by Ao to have Chosen because she is much more powerful than the other gods, it acts as a control on her lest she conquer all. That's why she can't wrest back the power once it's given, it must be given back freely.
I read on the Wiki this is because Lord Æo didn't want Mystra to be more powerful than him. Is that true? Or is it just one of those things people post on the wiki even though there's no evidence to back it up?

@@antimatterstudios8395 It's in the forgotten realms wiki, but to your point it doesn't have a citation.
It says that half Mystra's power is in a Chosen and in Azuth, and that this was so that she won't rule all of Realmspace.

The world building would be great, but I think it would be quite weird overall. I mean it would probably boil down to Elminster saving everybody again and again while the players just stand around.

The story of Alassra is interesting, cause in Baldur's gate 3, Gale the mage has to consume artefacts to keep himself alive. I guess they got this idea from her story.
I've been debating the inclusion of specifically Forgotten Realms mythos in my games, but I think this video series has given me enough to use without doing a disservice to my players. Keep it up! And there will 100% be an NPC in my games named Jorphdan (the ph is silent)!
Another great video. Thanks. I've been watching quite a few of these lately. I ran a FR/ Waterdeep/ Undermountain campaign in the 80s/ 90s for almost a decade. Recently, I 'accidentally' found myself running an FR campaign again, and these videos have been very helpful in not only bringing me up to date, but also refreshing my memory on all this FR lore! Very handy!

Beautiful follow-up after hitting "The Sundering" series recently. Aside for Drizzit that had been my first major foray into Forgotten Realms. Its where I run my adventures out of now, so thank you, this was a nice little lore-tour.

Really interesting! Nice to see some background to Alustriel! She makes an appearance in R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt series. Very powerful and mysterious character. Great video as usual.

So does Dove Falconhand in the Dark Elf Trilogy (Drizzt's prequels). Its brief though and not particularly noteworthy. It is mentioned that she is the sister of Alustriel though.
I've read many forgotten realms novels but not all of them . This forgotten realms Lore really fills in the back story of some characters and places for me .

Thanks for the video. Just recently I realized that Alustriel was human (although it seems half-elf given her mother?). I dunno I got that vibe from her in the Search for Mithral Hall and got super confused when I saw human on the wiki. This clears some things up.
Hi I'm an Aboriginal woman from Perth Western Australia and my people are the Noongah people of Western Australia and my people the Aboriginal people of Australia have a Dreamtime story of the Pleiades which we also call The Seven Sisters....it's about a Aboriginal male & Seven Sisters... this Dreamtime story is quite common amongst many Aboriginal tribes across Australia

I'm here cuz one of my players made his character a son of Alustriel Silverhand because he heard she was cool and all. Now we have a potential mary-sue on our hands lol

Alustriel had several kids, not all of them are Mary Sues.
@@r.r815 It ended with him being an over-powered, self-indulged Cleric player who took every moment to ask for bigger and stronger equipment, and still complained that he was doing less damage than the Fighter!
Player was paranoid, quitting the group after claiming that I was stalking him for weeks. I don't know where he is now

I’ve only heard of the first two sisters, Alustriel and Dove because they were in the Icewind DaleTrilogy.

Hey man, just wanted to say I love your channel and if you are ever searching for easy videos you should just pick a city and do a quick video on its history leading up to its current incarnation. As a newer player its difficult to imagine the even local histories of a huge city like Neverwinter fitting into the overall world. That would be really interesting and helpful.

I did have one request, if you ever get around to it Id love to see a video on Sigil. I dont know a whole lot about it, and it may not specifically relate to FR lore, but ive seen it on some planar graphics in your videos and it peaked my interest.

Question is there a difference between "silver" fire and "spell" fire? If so will you elaborate about it at some point?
Silver Fire is a gift to the Chosen of Mystra. You can use it as a weapon, or protection it's kind of like pure Weave energy that can be manipulated in various ways.
Spell Fire is a magical power that allows users to absorb spells cast at them and convert it to raw magical energy. They sound somewhat similar but Silver Fire is silver in color when used and only available to the chosen of Mystra. I'm not sure how you obtain spellfire, it might be outlined in Ed Greenwood's novel "Spellfire" but I haven't read it.
They are different but similar. Read Spellfire, Crown of Fire, and the Forgotten Realms Atlas

God damn, why haven't anyone made a movie about the seven sisters? If well made it would be a real best seller! Doesn't even matter if people know of dnd and FR, this is so intriguing on its own! I wonder if anyone at least wrote a fantasy book on the topic?

What a waste.... she and qilue are my favorites. At least storms still alive.
What made the simbul really cool is that she is really the only known powerful sorc. The rest are all Wizards. In terms of all spellcasters that is.

Yeah it just seemed to fit :) Great game though, just last night I started it up again out of nostalgia.
The only 2 missing sisters are now Qilué and the Simbul. Dove and Syluné, while part of the Weave, can still act and interact with their sisters, speak, and basically anything. Laeral, Alustriel and Storm are alive, so that leaves only Qilué and Alassra. I hope that they resurrect them, at least as voice in the Weave like Dove and Syluné are. I mean, they should already be that, but it'd be cool to see the Simbul acting again, or Qilué's soul returning to the Promenade as it is being retaken.
Qilué always got the short end of the stick in anything she did or was involved in. She always fought for good, but in the end lost family and everything. I wish she is at least returned to Eilistraee (now that the Dark Maiden has returned too), so Qilué will be able to meet her goddess and her family again.
@@transient_moonlight I would take the Lady Penitent series with a major grain of salt. Those books basically slandered Eilistraee and made her look as a goddess who was almost as bitchy as her mother Lolth. I'm also disappointed Salvatore never mentioned Eilistraee or her followers taking an interest in Drizzt. Oh well.
@@jamesbellefeuille2926 it was retconned, so yeah, it's worthless. Salvatore recently mentioned Eilistraee, in his latest book.

Why do you say that Laurel keeps a low profile when in 1487 DR she returned to Waterdeep, rallied the Masked Lords, and became declared the Open Lord of Waterdeep. Not exactly circumspect.
She definitely seems to be making a bigger name for herself. I pulled this line directly from "The Seven Sisters"
page 27 "While she (Laeral) keeps a lower profile than her sister Alustriel,..."
brainpower45 Laeral always played second fiddle to her hubby, Khelben. After Khelben died she started to step more into the limelight.

I always thought it was pronounced more like sim-bool.
In a chronicle in forgotten realms, the master wanted to put one of mystra's daughters in the story and he finds a way too absurd. My character (a magician) found a silver mirror from the stomach of the deceased master (curator of the ashaba tower library). And soon and mirror began to speak, was a woman and said to call Storm Silverhand.
Szass came looking for the mirror, stopped the time of the tavern where we were, but stupid did not find the artifact that was in my bag.
It was the worst RPG chronicle I've ever played.

Elue is pronounced eh-loo-eh. Qilue is pronounced kwill-oo-eh. Laeral is pronounced lay-rall.
Why dont anyone make a d&d mmorpg?
