  • Cholesterol is made and used by your body & brain for many functions. Cholesterol-lowering drugs mess with these processes and lead to many problems. Cholesterol medicines double your risk of developing dementia, according to a new study.
    In this video, I'll explain the study and give you the list of lipophilic medicines which double your risk of developing dementia. Please share this information with anyone you know who is taking cholesterol medications because it could save them from early dementia.
    The Study: jnm.snmjournals.org/content/6...
    The American Heart Association's stance on dietary cholesterol:
    "Previously, the Dietary Guidelines for Americans recommended that cholesterol intake be limited to no more than 300 milligrams per day. The 2015 DGAC [Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee] will not bring forward this recommendation because available evidence shows no appreciable relationship between consumption of dietary cholesterol and serum cholesterol, consistent with the conclusions of the AHA/ACC report. Cholesterol is not a nutrient of concern for overconsumption"

    Hydrophilic or Lipophilic Statins?
    www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/arti... (Climent et al.)
    Lipophilic statins - atorvastatin(Lipitor), fluvastatin (Lescol), lovastatin (Mevacor), pitavastatin
    (Livalo), and simvastatin (Zocor).
    Hydrophilic statins - pravastatin (Pravachol), and rosuvastatin (Crestor)
    PCSK9 Inhibitors Repatha (evolocumab) and Praluent (alirocumab) were not included in this study so we don't know yet if they will also double your risk of dementia, or worse.

    My cholesterol numbers were fine. My cardiologist tried to put me on a statin "as a preventative because it's best to never develop high cholesterol." I told him when he could show me one single study that a statin helped females with normal cholesterol and no history of heart attacks, then I might consider it. He could not. That and another incident made me never go back to him.

    Been on rosuvastatin for 2 mo. (plus baby aspirin) due to mini stroke. Quit my VA doctor in favor of another doctor at the VA. At my first meeting with new doc, she WHISPERED to me so as not to be heard in the hallway; "Stop taking statin, could cause dementia." She also told me to continue eating red meat while avoiding carbs and sugars! My other doctor preached wheat bread over white and yams over potatoes. What a difference! (This happened 2 days ago.)

    I am sitting here sobbing. My doctor put me on Atorvastatin and I told her no. She told me you will be at a higher risk for a stroke or heart attack. I caved in to the fear-mongering and told her I would go on them. I am really angry that she did not tell me that there were side effects and I am chastising myself for not looking into it myself. That is not like me. In 2019 I began to feel confused and fog-brained. Then the leg cramps and the crippling fatigue & insomnia and then the confusion and dizziness. And then I got diagnosed with Insulin Resistance (and with your help Dr Berry, I reversed it and brought my A1C down to 5.6 and I am going to continue to work on it). It wasn't until you, Dr Berry did these videos on statins & their side effects that I quit the statins. I am so very angry. I want to thank you Dr. Berry for taking so much of your precious time with your family to get the word out on the dangers of statins. I wish I could give you a hug of gratitude.

      My husband’s situation is exactly as yours. I’m crying about it now. I see my husband not making sense and I was just researching dementia. I believe he is in the beginning stages. He often speaks in half sentences and gets angry that I don’t understand him. He is taking Atorvastatin also. So, what should we do? It is so hard to see a doctor in 🇨🇦. Anyhow, they often have their minds set and won’t even listen when we mention issues with certain meds or symptoms. He has a mind to just stop taking them. Not sure that is good either. ???

She just smiled and made no comment. I was so ready to defend my decision. I also took a list of additional test I wanted and she agreed to all of them. Then he told me that he was having some knee pain, he thinks is from the new statin. I told him that he needed to get off that crap! 🤣 I showed him the book, " the lies my doctor told me" and he wrote it down to get his own copy!!!

      I had a doctor push me to atorvastatin, and I refused. I had a minor heart attack and have a stent. He came very close to an "I told you so".
      The cardiologist prescribed atorvastatin. I was fine for about a year, then had all sorts of side effects. Depression, muscle pain, etc. etc... I cut it back, and finally stopped. AFTER the fact, after an appointment, he told me "as a friend" not as my doctor, that he is prescribed statins and does not take them for the same reasons and side effects. That's funny, almost. Afte pushing me to take them, and not listening to my side effects. His response to the side effects was to prescribe anti depressants. Called it "adjustment syndrome" or some such nonsense.The first round didn't work, so he said double the dose. I did. It still did nothing. He said raise it again. I said nope. Stopped it, stopped the statins, and never looked back. I feel a LOT better now, after going low carb - ketoish. Especially after doing some research on statins, and the ACTUAL amount of "potential" benefit they give. Not worth full body suffering for the rest of my life.
      Thank you Dr. Berry!

    This information is extremely important. I was taking Lipitor as Atorvastatin and within a week I noticed memory loss. I started keeping a daily diary of what was going on. After about a month on this poison, I couldn’t remember my client’s names, couldn’t remember the name of my wife’s job, started leaving coffee in the microwave I heated for breakfast until I opened the microwave to heat dinner, couldn’t do memory games on my iPhone anymore after reaching level 9 but now couldn’t finish level 1, and started leaving my pistol in my unlocked car etc. I called my doctor to report my issues. HE TOLD ME TO BREAK THE PILL IN HALF!!! Wth? I told him whatever was causing this in a full pill had the same ingredient in half a pill! I have moved on to another doctor. Dr. Berry is absolutely correct. My opinion: DO NOT TAKE LIPITOR AT ALL! I warned all my friends 50 and older who complained about getting older and losing memory. Guess what? All of them were taking lipitor. You have been warned! It took at least three months before my memory came back to normal but it hasn’t come back 100 percent yet. That was three years ago.

      Err.... I think its important not to overblow cause and effect here. Dementia is on the rise globally, and you cannot simply lay that all at the feet of an anti-cholesterol drug. Many dementia sufferers may not be taking any kind of cholesterol lowering medication at all. That fact is many, many people have died, and will continue to die from some form of dementia. It is very common for people who suffer from dementia to forget the names of their loved ones, this is very typical of the disease, I'm very sad to say. Lastly, a larger sample size for a follow study would be good I think, 390 people is a fairly small study, and it would be very good to see these results replicated in further studies with larger nation-wide sample sizes.

I really feel it was the statins that caused her strokes, exacerbated her issues. Before she took them she was a very loud strong willed woman and now shes a shell. we are heartboken.

    I was taking atorvastatin for three years, and I was definitely experiencing what felt like cognitive decline. Onset was slow, but I slowly realized that this was the statin and not aging. I stopped taking it about 2 months ago, and sure enough, that and other side effects have lifted! Small things are better, like typing these words into my phone easily and naturally. I don't forget words or how to spell them. My thoughts are clear. My musicianship skills, which seemed to be slipping, are sharper again (and not because of amount of practicing!). That's why the title of this video resonated with me, big time!

I reported to my doctor and he said Lipitor could not do that, keep taking it. It kept happening so i stopped the Lipitor for a short period, and the incidents stopped. I then restarted Lipitor for several weeks, and the incidents started again. I stopped taking it and was fine. So i discontinued Lipitor and didn't take anything for several years. My doctor had me try crestor several years later. I was fine for about a month, when one day working in my yard i lost all memory, did not know who i was/where i was. I'm going to send over an email shortly addressing this because every time I attempt to discuss such things with various doctors they have a come back that I cannot answer and I feel like I'm being strong-armed into doing it their way.

    I have been taking atorvastastin for several years now. I am seeing my doctor next week, and will tell her of this study. I'm going to ask to be switched to one of the two "safer" statins. If that can't be done, I will consider that I will stop taking a cholesterol lowering drug. It has worked for me.....so I'm not sure how this is going to play out. I was prescribed Atorvastatin last year and almost immediately started having difficulty with word retrieval. It was kind of like “tip of the tongue” but not exactly. I was certain I knew the word I was searching for, but equally certain it wasn’t coming back on its own. It was alike a wall had been raised between me and the word. If I happened upon the word in reading or conversation, I’d immediately recognize it, but later would still be unable to produce it. I stopped taking Atorvastatin a couple months ago and haven’t had an episode since.

    I was taking Astrovistatin, the first one you mentioned. It was the right thing to do! The Brain Fog and inability to engage was most disturbing but I kept taking it for quite a few years. Then I have painful joints and muscles. I stopped taking it after watching yours and many other doctors conclusions on Statin Drugs. I'm really glad I stopped when I did. My doctor was not happy with me. He gave me the studies and I gave him the Relative Risks reported by the studies. I also pointed out all the side effects I was experiencing which he dismissed. How can we trust health care providers who push this stuff?? I'm so done with accepting without question.

At 19 his bad LDL was already high they put him on Lipitor now hes 49 NEVER had a heart attack. He is over weight and doesn't exercise and in good health. @@boostercontrol100 I took statins for 10 years. Stopping them was a bit scary but Initially yes, my cholesterol went up. I stopped all carbs and vegetable oils and my weight dropped dramatically as did my cholesterol and hypertension. The Meds were damaging my liver. Every 6 months I would visit my Doctor and report the horrible pain on my right mid section and the migraine like headaches. I got tests and more meds. In my own frustration, I started to really investigate what I was experiencing. The Statins were slowly showing up in each of my symptoms. I stopped all meds in frustration. Reported to my doc my intention. He was upset and quoted studies and the harm I was causing. In time the pain and headaches subsided. it took 3 years to finally go away. I was angry with the medical system at that point. It seems evident the paradigm of medicine is making us dependent on medicine. I won't evangelize this nor do I want to convince anyone else to take my advice. But here I am, listening to a group of Doctors who are saying what I've already concluded. I will never go back to taking pills unless it is my only recourse. Even then I may not.

    Of course, since cholesterol protects the brain (and many other organs) from inflammation, any medication designed for the sole purpose of reducing cholesterol (without any justifiable reason) would only be prescribed for the sole purpose of doing harm.
    I am convinced that my mother, who was suffering from vascular dementia, had her demise accelerated by her doctor putting her on Aricept.
    The VA should be ashamed of themselves (then again psychopaths are not capable of shame) for aggressively pushing statins.
    There's going to be a whole lot of malpractice suits in the near future. But mostly, the pharmaceutical industry is overdue for a major comeuppance for all the crimes they've committed against us.

    • @VeldaE12
      @VeldaE12 3 роки тому +1

      Can you tell me what it is about Aricept that concerns you? It’s a acetylcholine inhibitor. It does not change the course of Alzheimer’s. My disabled son takes it for memory and I’m hoping you can point me to new info you came across.

    • @MrPeaceandLiberty
      @MrPeaceandLiberty 3 роки тому +1

      @@VeldaE12 I'm not sure how it affects Alzheimer's. But it sure didn't do much to help vascular dementia.
      But what I believe pushed her deeper into dementia...I meant to say...was the cholesterol lowering meds they had her on. This was a doctor who told her to not eat any more eggs.

      The study doesn't say statins cause dementia in everyone who takes it. The study says your chances of getting dementia are significantly increased. What that means is that each person has to make a personal decision whether or not to take it. To take a statin because your father didn't get dementia, or to refrain from taking a statin because of this study, are both poor decisions. We need lots of information before making a decision on whether or not to take a statin.
