From Australia I was struck down with this over fifty years ago and there was only ten known cases in the world. I was one one of them. I lost the use of my legs was put into hospital. I was given injections of vitamin b. I was told I would not walk again but I walked out of the hospital with difficulties. I had lots of numbness and pins and needles for over twelve months. Although I have damaged nerves in both legs I am still walking around and I am in my eighties. I also lost the reflexes in my knees.I just want to encourage those who are going through this to not give up keep fighting. I was determined I was going to walk out of the hospital and I did. At that time I also had three young children and that gave more determination to beat it.

All I was given was vitamin b and just for two weeks. At first they thought I had a brain tumour but that was ruled out. I was not given any help of any kind after I left the hospital, I had to fight it on my own with the help of my wonderful husband. It was difficult for me to move about with a lot of feeling not there. I think you would be given better follow up care today. I have to say I thank God that I have the use of my today as I am in my eighties now and still have very good balance. I do hope people who are going through this are getting much better help today.

@@jeancaust9762 It is wonderful to hear from you, and that you are still healthy at your advanced age. Somehow your body has been able to heal itself after the injections. A poor diet can cause B12 deficiency's like a lack of animal products. I'm from the Netherlands and approaching my 50’s. My mother has lived to her teenage years in WA but her immigrant parents had to return to Holland due to illness. She's 74 and still 'younger' than her mother at the same age. Many western people today will not live till their 80's healthy if at all, the Western diet being the culprit. I'm interested to hear your opinion about the modern Western diet vs the diet prior to this time of overconsumption of sugars, starches and ultra processed food. What are the main differences?

    • @verigone2677
      @verigone2677 2 роки тому +44

@@aprilgarcia4523neuropathy in and of itself can be cured, nerves can replace themselves, and the tiny ones affected by this condition are the easiest nerves to recover. The issue comes in that the underlying causes damage cells faster than the body can heal them. So, your neuropathy will heal itself with no further intervention on your part if you can solve the causing condition (ramping up your vitamin D and various B complexes can improve your body's overall recovery speed). Neuropathy in and of it self is a secondary condition caused by a primary factor and it is itself more of symptom of something else than a condition all on its own (the vast majority of the time). Those cases without a known cause, Idiopathic Neuropathy, are very rare and almost always figured out to be rooted in some form of autoimmune if Diabetes and Hepatitis are ruled out.

Diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy after chemotherapy for lymphoma. Agonising pain in my feet and hands with numerous other issues such as GERD, lack of sleep etc.
Several doctors and consultants could only prescribe classical painkillers at best, I tried them all and nothing touched the pain. It got to the point I wished the cancer had killed me.
Someone suggested eating more red meat to raise my low testosterone and I accidentally ended up almost cutting out everything ELSE that was giving me issues.
Very soon I was full carnivore, 16/8 fasting and feeling better than before chemo.
My feet were almost pain free in 3 weeks, my GERD was gone in less than a week, my sleep was back to 6 hours at least and instead of being physically exhausted I was mountain biking with my son again.
I'd spent two fricking YEARS wishing I'd died because of UK healthcare incompetence at every level.

Dr. Berry, I've been on Keto and Carnivoire since December (7 months) and my peripheral neuropathy is better. I have better feeling on the bottom of my feet, but after watching your video, I realized that there is one thing I totally forgot about. For about the last 15 years, I've had a terrible pain in the big toe on my right foot. I know that is hard to believe. The pain in my big toe was so bad it was disabling. It was hard to walk and hard to drive a car. I just realized after 7 months on Keto, that I don't have that severe pain in my big toe anymore. I haven't had that pain in several months. My big toe feels so normal that I just forgot about it. That's pretty amazing what Keto did. (also fasting sugar is between 90 and 104, only 1 metformin a day, and I've lost 45 pounds since Christmas)

Your video gave me hope, lessened my despair and let me know that there was at least one Dr. (You) who understands. Less than a year ago I found this video and asked you about fasting and Keto diet. I absolutely love both. Neither actually helped reduce my PN symptoms. Finally some labs confirmed my initial suspicions of an autoimmune disorder. Thank you for being a light for those of us in a dark place.

Try the lion diet, it is the strictest meat diet but it worked on stopping all my fibromyalgia symptoms and gave me back my life in just two weeks. It's hard at first but it's much better than feeling sick and in pain all the time. The lion diet is more proper for the people suffering from autoimmune disease.

it's horrible! to the point of distraction! it keeps you awake at night, drives you crazy when the weather is bad, makes you suddenly able to understand why some people would almost prefer to get their bits amputated! Been looking for real help for 1.5 yrs now... very few things make it tolerable. BEGGING for help! Everywhere you look, everyone says, "it can't be reversed"... You're the first person who explained the glycation and phagocytosis process and how it works together to damage the nerves... everything everyONE else just implies... "well it's like it just rusts and there's no recovery for it"... it's worth waiting for the pain to go away if there's HOPE that the tiny nerve endings can regenerate, even if it takes... like you said, months, or more... Thanks so much for the reminder that nerves CAN heal!

Eat pork meat or pork liver. It has the type of thiamine is used for the nerves to rebuilt.
Don’t buy thiamine because that is hydro soluble and the nerves would not be able to absorb it.
      Change your diet.
Go to carnivore diet, no keto diet.
All the veggies, seeds and nuts have carbs. Don’t eat bread, any made with flour. No sugar , no rice or pasta. Coffee and tea depletes absorption of B1. No alcohol either.

It got about 50% better over the next few years. It solved most of the pain and pins but the numbness was still there. I went carnivore a year ago and started intermittent fasting. I have improved by 50% in my nerve damage. All in all I have 90% improvement in pain and 60% improvement is nerve damage/ lack of feeling in my legs. It didn’t get better fast. It’s been a marathon. I’ve also lost 50 lbs and solved high BP and sleep apnea too. Wasn’t planning on that.

I was involved in a ToXic Fume X-P to Pulp Mill Emissions building a New Recovery Boiler next to an operating Pulp Mill with 1000 tradesmen! Dozens of us were Booked for the Sleep Disorder Clinic! I knew already I couldn't use the plastic Tubing and Mask on the 2nd night because the Neurotoxin Ethylene oxide is used as a Plastic Softener! My discernment is the hundreds of TPD of Nitric oXide being emitted is a first cousin to Nitrous oxide Anaesthesia which impairs Cellular absorption of B12! So if a person has been put under for surgery Or dental work, Cellular absorption may be impaired!
I saw a Surgeon for knee n shoulder surgery and a young brother suggested my B12 was low, needed for optimum Bursa Sac health found @ every joint! That was 6 year's ago and at times I lapse in daily B12 dosing, but if I get a jab of pain in a joint Or snapping, I take B12 and it's remedied in a very short time! Oh yes the Thiamine, B1 in a B100 supplement ended my Sleep Apnea! I'm Canadian where we're Restricted to 100mg of B1, but I've found 300/500 mg in America! I Hope this helps!

About 10 years ago, peripheral neuropathy in my feet was the first sign that my lazy and poor eating had caused type II diabetes. Very long story short, I had a very high A1C. I went no sugar/no grain, reversed the diabetes (A1C of 5.0) and have maintained that for years. The neuropathy is much better, but not completely eliminated. When I first noticed it and until I got my eating and weight controlled, there was actual pain and burning on a regular basis and discomfort all the time. Now, I just feel some very, very slight numbness, but no pain and burning and sometime not even that. Getting rid of the neuropathy is a long term thing and it may never completely resolve. Word to the wise- get your A1C under control before it starts.

Ozempic is a dangerous drug for an older persons with neuropathy. I was prescribed Ozempic for Type II DM. I had two very dangerous falls because Ozempic aggravated orthostatic hypotension to such an extent it caused me to blackout suddenly and fall. The first fall caused a severe break in my left ankle which required surgery, and a head injury. The second fall caused a broken hip. It took weeks of hospitalization before my doctors figured out Ozempic was causing my BP to drop so low I would pass out upon standing. It took eight weeks for Ozempic to clear my system and allow me to stand up without blacking out. No one has mentioned this problem with these types of medications but it should thoroughly be explored.

That pain was what motivated me to look for root causes and solutions. It look me a few days to realize that it was caused by my diabetes. Out of desperation I watched a lot of UA-cam videos and tried a dietary intervention. After 3 months of cutting out processed food, and practicing time restricted eating, most of my diabetic symptoms went away. Two observations. 1. I got better in a hurry. 2. Also, no sugary drinks or sugar-added fruit juices. (I can recall my grandmother saying drinking fruit juice is a waste of the fruit. If you’re having fruit, eat the whole thing.) Home baked goods were reserved for holidays, and eaten in small quantities.

Dr Ken realised I was suffering from this alongside sciatica in both legs which confused the diagnosis somewhat and after wading through tons of as you say useless junk. I found this which quite honestly picked me up off the floor.
It was confidence inspiring to listen to the information particularly when other health care professionals give praise to your knowledge. The mainly carnivore/low carb diet I enjoy now has helped me immensely at over 40 lbs lighter at 70yrs young has shown what can be achieved. Many thanks and good health to you and yours

As a sufferer of Small Fiber neuropathy for a dozen years, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I saw a neurologist who attended the best universities for 5 years... he offered no hope, no suggestions, only meds... which did not work. I have had chronic gastro issues for most of my life so I went to Emory Neurology because they advertise a multi-disciplinary approach to treatment of neuropathy. I mentioned Dr. Perlmutter's work which found there is a relationship between gut issues and neuropathy. This must have offended the Ukrainian neurologist I was seeing because she stopped the exam and literally told me to go home and die... not once or twice but multiple times. I asked about the gastro workup and she refused to offer it. So it's refreshing to say the least to find someone as generous and as knowledgeable as you on my journey. Thank you sir.

I think my neurologists must assume my PCP has already done all the basic tests Dr Berry described, but my PCP has barely scratched the surface and has actually refused to do anything else because she believes it's my neurologists' job. Too much more of this insanity and I'll need a psychiatrist. I've wasted thousands of dollars on absolutely worthless doctors.

When the autonomic symptoms appeared she decided to send me to a neurologist specializing in neuromuscular disease. It will take a least 6 months to get that appointment. I suffer almost daily from peripheral neuropathy which I began having a few days before my 37th birthday this year. I tried Keto for a year with incredible success but slowly let carbs creep back in. A year later I began having tingling, burning, and numbness in my hands, feet, and sometimes even in my face. Some days were so bad I couldn’t focus on anything else. When I began checking my blood sugar I realized that within one year off the keto diet I was becoming a type 2 diabetic. I immediately returned to the keto lifestyle and have been strict keto for 5 months. I have good days and bad but overall my symptoms have lessened and are definitely not getting worse. I would have never let any carbs into my diet if I had known that type 2 diabetes is not about keeping your weight down. Just because I was at a healthy weight it doesn’t mean I wasn’t doing horrible, irreversible damage to my body. My blood sugars are not as low as I’d like them despite combining fasting with keto but I’m guessing it might just take time. I can’t actually lose anymore weight because I’ve met my goal and will be underweight so I’m hoping I can maintain my current weight on keto. Thank you Dr. Berry for all you do. You can save millions from suffering.

    Thank you Dr. Berry!
I have the tingling and numbness down the inside of both my legs, fortunately no pain yet. What happened is: long time low carb diet turned serious carnivore in May 2022. Went on vacation with my hubby Oct 8-15 2022 and fully off carnivore. I mean I had so much bread & sugar it was a rebellion. A day and a half later I wake up with my entire body tingling and I kept complaining to my hubby my body was so swollen. My thighs, my tummy, my face. I was stupid and kept eating that way till I got home. Started right away back on strict carnivore and felt a little improvement in less than 2 weeks. Thank the Lord. When my body was tingling all over I thought maybe a virus or something. Now, over 2 weeks back on strict carnivore, only the insides of my long legs, insides of my arms and my stomach are still super tingling & numb. *I really feel this entire experience with carnivore and then jumping of and back on has shook some sense into me. I’m so lucky enough to not have any pain this time and realize I most likely will not be so lucky if there ever is a next time.
Thank you Thank you Thank you for keeping this video up!!👏👏👏👏
I feel so much better after watching this video. I feel confident if I stay on carnivore long enough I may see more improvement with my nerves. ~I had a full blood panel done just last week and everything came back normal for carnivore. The only thing they red flagged would be my ketones (2+) and of course my LDL (179) but my Triglycerides (65) to HDL (68) ratio was under 1, so YaY!!!
Thank you again so much for keeping this video up!!!👏👏👏

    Benfotiamine (B1) 600 mg (2 x 300 mg/day) and
Methylcobalamin (B12) 5000 mcg/day. For me, they make a huge difference. When I stop taking them the neuropathy gets worse. When I start again they get better. There's no question it helps. And it doesn't show up as a deficiency in lab tests, so it isn't due to a quote unquote "deficiency."

Thank you so much for getting this out there. I discovered these remedies on my own because of Lupus and other severe AI disorders that I have been fighting for years. Tried multiple specialty clinics and all their drug concoctions to no effect. Occasional debilitating bouts of the disease required massive short turn doses of prednisone to stop the incredible pain that truly had me thinking I could not go on like this. No amount of opioid pain killers would touch it. Also debilitating neuropathy in my feet, where even a fan blowing on them was excruciating. About 18 months ago I went on the Keto diet as I was gaining weight from the prednisone and inactivity and I started feeling better with longer and longer hiatuses between severe bouts. Always there still, neuropathy still fairly severe. I started getting severe arm and leg cramps and thought I must be missing some minerals. Started with Magnesium and Potassium and things slowly improved over many months, then switched to Carnivore diet and have made much faster recovery. I'm a 72 year old male and now have limited neuropathy in my feet. I have been able to get out in the woods and cut, haul and stack 2 cords of wood in the last week. Something I thought would never seem possible 1 year ago. I always tried to stay active but was dying from autoimmune disorders.

Twice in my life I had nerve problems. Sciattica, and a pinched nerve. The problem migrated from the origin, to the closest joint (hip, shoulder) and then traveled to the next joint, and then the next. Finally, it reversed itself, traveling back to the next, and then the next previous joint, to the original area. Months (I think about 4 months for each) it took to do all this. No medication worked.
The point to all this is: Nerve problems generally don't go away rapidly. Expect them to take awhile. Follow the Doctor's advise. He knows what he's talking about.

I have had nueopathy for years. I had a large pelvic tumor partially removed in 2015., but both my feet have been near dead since 2011. Upon finding the large tumor just before surgery (4months prior
      R) my upper thighs went through a phase I call flame out as that is what it felt like for 20-30 seconds. Right leg went first and my left leg went after the partial resection of the tumor immediately after surgery while I was still in recovery.
Recent EMG was not good for me. No feeling in the nerve conductivity test in my feet and just above my knees..
      Your thoughts..?
      Thanks, great info and video.

Hi Dr Berry. I’m watching your videos from Maryland. I’m almost 74 and I have Neuropathy in my feet. They burn and cause me to unable to sleep. I’ve been on Keto for almost 7months. Thank you for these great tutorials.❤️

Although I still have pretty significant peripheral neuropathy, it became **off the chart** severe approximately 2 weeks after being on a statin! OMG! It was constant & all-consuming! I slowly returned to my baseline when I stopped the Rx. I will never, ever, ever go near a statin ever again. Wishing better days for everyone who suffers with it. I had no idea it could be so severe. 😢 (eta: it was atorvastatin)

Instead of a statin, I take Red Yeast Rice.

Which statin? There are some that cannot be tolerated. Some have few side effects. Niacin help with cholesterol

Look into Moringa, Berberine andBergamot as possible substitutes for blood sugar and cholesterol lowering. Research.

I also got it from a statin - was on only 75 days and was riding a peloton 60-,90 120 minutes before the statin. I am 72. Now that I have gotten this - am in constant pain and can barely ride 45 minutes. My Dr had no clue on what to do with me.

Family member got neuropathy in form of Guillain-Barre, 6 weeks after flu shot. Hardly went to 1 stock of his home, lost 80% of hand force. Slowly improved, almost a year.

I had occasional neuropathy flare-ups in my left foot (2-5 times per week). Within 1 week of going carnivore, it's gone completely. Also gone within a few weeks? General 'old man' joint pain, skin tags, xanthelasma (cholesterol buildup under the eye lids - gone!), BP down, energy up, etc. Why and how this diet is not recommended by every physician is mindboggling.

I got my peripheral neuropathy - manifesting as DROP FOOT. This happened after I had hip replacement surgery - the surgery stretched my nerves in kindly trying to make sure both legs were the same length. So after 1.5 years of suffering this, I now have 50 % improvements. I didn’t like Lyricia.

Doc you are the best! All the things you said in this piece are spot on! I developed neuropathy after being diagnosed Type 2! I have since completely changed my diet (your advice) and I can feel things are starting to change! Slowly, but it’s definitely happening! I busted up the discs in my spine and thought at first I was experiencing these things because of my back! It started out with numbness or no feeling in the bottom of my feet..? So thank you for all your posts! Your honest talk is helping me a great deal! I appreciate you and the Mrs! Be well Sir!

I wish I could find a doctor like you in my area. I live in lower Michigan near Ohio. Most md’s are not very thorough and just cover the basics. Thank you for teaching us so much more about how to care for ourselves.
