Hi Derek and Crystal! I have a confession here. I must admit, I stopped watching your videos for good few months. I thought, well I watched enough, I tracked enough of my micros in cronometer, I don´t need to know more info about nutrition. I stopped and got worse. I got into trash gossip YT channels and trashy junkfood here and there. I lost the control over my mind and my body. But now I´m back, drinking spinach smoothie, eating beetroots and vegetable bowls. I know that I´m just 1 out of your almost half a million (WOW) subscribers, but I still want to thank you. Thank you for posting your videos and adding content even when I was not watching. And thank you Crystal for posting about women´s health on IG. Thank you both!

We're in quarantine since Monday in France.
Just allowed to (and with a 'certificate') :
    - go shop our food (ahah, that's really hard when people panic buy)
    - go to work for people who can't do it from home
    - go all alone run if we really want to, but not too far
    - go take your children if you're divorced
    - go give your blood
As I am at home because I don't have work at the moment, I already know how to fill my time. So, no problem (appart I don't go for an hour walk everyday, just run once a week to not go too much outside).
I suppose the Earth was too tired of humans shits...
For people who don't know what to do :
    - sport at home
    - meditation (you can go inside and work on you, that's not loosing your time, trust me)
    - stretching
    - learn new languages or anything else (mooc, memerise, etc)
    - draw, paint
    - play music, listen to music, sing
    - read, write
    - watch movies or series (not too many but still) or documentary
    - choose the good videos to watch and don't watch a ton of shits or a ton of corona related video : you're allowed to smile and laugh
    - take care of the people that are nearby like family or friends (I don't who you live with but hey! You can)
    - share time at the phone or skype etc whith people you love, but not to much if it depressed you
    - write a journal?
    - do you spring cleaning, you have time right now
    - if you have a balcony or a garden, spend time there, it's cool and nice!
    - if you're allowed too, choose hours when people do not walk/run a lot (like before 9-10 in the morning) and go for a walk once a week, not too far, but still
    - cook and learn
    Take care everybody! ~♥~

I have never left a comment on a youtube video before but wanted to send you some good vibes. I am an Michelin trained Irish head chef, living in London, England. I am vegan (and my husband too). I make such complicated food daily, so it's so nice to see your bowls of goodness that give me home eating ideas. It's easy to get stuck in a rut with ideas, even when you're a head chef! Also your positive smiling energy in every video is sooo good. Me and my husband love your happy vibe. It's all that great plant based nutrition that has us vegans so happy! Keep up the good work over there, it's appreciated on the other side of the world :)

This was fun!!! And the meal looked great. In Texas we put salsa on everything.
I’m a delivery driver and so is my husband. Often we are not just working paycheck to paycheck, but day to day- so all of this was somewhat nutty to us. It started as a consumer crisis just based on how people apparently even in Canada acted at grocery stores. The good thing for my family is that delivery is in high demand. And the platform that I work with here in Texas is affiliated with our largest grocery store. We are working, and giving back to people in need. People that have self quarantined, seniors that can’t get out, and maybe even ones that are sick. We are doing a lot of drop at the door orders to practice social distancing. It’s been crazy bc this was also my step sons spring break! So his home school hasn’t started yet- although I truly believe he is a gifted kid and I am so thankful that he has tested above his grade level, and I don’t believe he will get behind, no matter how long this lasts.
Also, Sounds like there is a medication that helps it, and it’s rolling out Tuesday. It’s also not a vaccine but an oral pill. It will be interesting to see how the remainder of this mayhem plays out. A few things about this virus are true, the cleaner you are the less it will penetrate you, the healthier you are the easier and better you can fight it- whereas the majority of deaths worldwide are connected to people with pre existing conditions. It’s scary because it can live on surfaces, but the pro is that bleach, soap, alcohol, and even hydrogen peroxide can kill it. I definitely agree that staying home is the best policy. Be clean, eat clean. 💚💚🌿🌿

    SWEDEN
Thank you Derek and Crystal for motivating me to stay healthy and brightening up my day!
Swedes are born to handle this kind of outbreak. We keep 3 meters away from each other and avoid contact as much as possible already before the outbreak and now we also wash our hands obsessively, we don't meet ealdery people or anyone in the risk group, risk group people also get free home delivery. We work from home if possible. Borders are closed. Gyms are closed, highschools and over are closed and kindergartens are closed for everyone except those parents that work in healthcare or other important professions and we don't have any big gatherings. We don't have a lookdown, but still the streets, cafes and restaurants are emptier than usual or they are closed part of the day and open for delivery. Sweden is supporting businesses that are suffering due to corona. They are building areas to prepare healthcare to be able to care for more infected people. But I am a bit worried that we are to chill about the outbreak, what do you think we should do more?

In small town Ohio, our local grocery store is hustling & bustling for us all. I work at an Assisted Living facility. Part of my job is creating the menu, ordering/picking up/shopping for all the food. Today they all had fresh sliced bell peppers to up their vitamin C! Non-essential visitors are not permitted. New regulations come in every other day. We all definitely need to check in on our elderly neighbors to make sure they have their needs met as they are more susceptible to getting this. They’re truly the greatest generation. (I’m also using it as an excuse to get them to try more nutritious foods! It’s hard shopping for meat & gravy lovers when knowing full well what it’s doing.) I’m just so sorry for the whole world right now, but have faith that we’ll get through this together & be even more grateful on the other side. Thanks for the cheer. I was supposed to go to my very first “Veggfest” tomorrow! Side note: I miss our childhood trampoline.

You're a great team. I've been making dressings and sometimes I'll blend with apple for sweetness.

I think most of us have the same mindset as you - stock up enough that we can successfully distance ourselves and not have to go to the store every other day, but don't hoard. I think there are fewer panic-buyers than we may think, the problem is just that they panic-buy everything 😖 The toughest thing has been work. My partner and sister both work at grocery stores, which is like being on another kind of frontline. Thankfully, they both are responsible and cautious, sanitizing all the time. All of this craziness is going to reshape the way we live and share this world. I'm doing plenty of yoga and meditation to stay mindful to the fact that we've got an opportunity to learn some important lessons. And also remember not to drown ourselves in fear and dark thoughts, but be a beacon of light to one another as best we can. I love your videos, Derek and Crystal! Self-isolation can also spark a lot of creativity so I look forward to these recipe videos so everyone can share ideas. We'll all be experimenting with dry goods for a while, haha. Sending lots of love up north, from over here in Portland, Oregon! 🥰💗🌹

Social distancing = healthy people avoiding contact with others, limiting community transmission.
Self isolation = used to separate ill or possibly ill person(s) from healthy people.
Quarantine = typically an *order* from Government for all individuals to stay home, both healthy and ill persons. May be upheld by local authorities (police).
Canadians have been urged to social distance, and for symptomatic or possibly exposed individuals to self-isolate for 14 days. Canadians have *not* been ordered to Quarantine at this point as seen in China, Italy, etc. These are small details but language is important! Stay healthy folks 👍

Speaking of the importance of appropriate language, in Australia they’re trying to encourage use of the term ‘physical distancing’ rather than ‘social distancing’...the concern is that folk will feel isolated and alone in the midst of a crisis if we’re too ‘socially’ distanced, which could have negative effects psychologically...the hope is that families and friends and communities will stay socially close and connected...just from a safe distance. Yay for technology and social media! 😋

On the island here in Nanaimo. Still going to work at a normal schedule, but about 75% of my workplace is working from home. Reducing my supply trips as well, but unfortunately I find that not a lot of older people are abiding social distancing. Some woman practically elbowed me out of the way getting sweet potatoes at Pomme today. I wish more people would realize that being able to shop in a store right now is a privilege based on the trust that people will behave responsibly. On a positive note I roasted some of that smoked soyganic tofu today in 50% that tahina you recommended and 50% gochujang pepper paste plus seasoning. It came out so tasty in my convection oven. I recommend this highly!

Hi Derek and Crystal, glad you're both safe. I'm in Cheshire which isn't far from Manchester in the UK. We're pretty much the same, although here in the UK we aren't listening. It's Monday 23rd March, over the weekend people hit the beach and we're having picnics, a market was open in London and they're suffering from the most outbreaks. We're home schooling our boys, we have to do 2 hrs per child and send photographs as daily proof, we're not just chillaxing. A famous trainer in the UK (Joe Wicks the body coach) is doing daily workouts for kids, every day Mon-Fri until they go back to school, so we're including that as we're not going out. Hoping everyone on here stays safe too xx

Crystal!!! ❤️❤️ it’s nice to see you both. We’ve been walking parts of the Mountains to Sea Trail (MST) in North Carolina USA to help us stay sane. These trails are not very popular but are beautiful! I told my husband the other day that we need to order a trampoline for this ordeal.

In a weird way this event has refocused my knack for vegan cooking, with yawls help of course with your positivity. A quick run to the market to grab a few bits of produce and frozen fruits create a nice challenge to plan, satisfy and preserve. I would usually put too much emphasis on complicated recipes like prepared seitan dishes and laborious roastings of oyster mushrooms or something. You've made me appreciate the simple and delicious flavors of whole foods without going overboard with technique. I especially love the no oil pan frying. Been doing that lately and my god, it leaves so much of the flavor intact . Kudos and keep it coming.

Love your videos (authentic, practical, evidenced-based). I prepared as you all did regarding buying beans and lentils and frozen goods etc. I live in a small town in Alabama where most people do not eat healthy, so the produce shelves are packed full as normal (hope it continues) and the shelves for other things are low. Thanks for sharing your day. I have a bouldering gym in my attic, so I need to go workout now.

    Daar Derek and Crystal,
Thanks for bringing me a bit of light during these dark times. Because I want to give something back, here's an awesome sandwich I recently found out :)
Cucumber sandwich with dates hummus and hot sauce
    Toast the slices of bread
Slice the Cucumber and dates (for the dates I use scissors, way les sticky xD).
Put a lot of hummus on a sandwich and top with the cucumber and dates.
Sprinkle some hotsauce on top and put the other slice of bread on top.
There you go! I realy like the combination of the sweetnes of the dates, the spice of the sauce and the crunch of a cucumber.
    Stay save and healthy :)
Lots of love from the Netherlands!!

Hey I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it but you can make your own homemade veggie broth very easily. Just wash your veggies and keep any veggie shavings, skins of potatoes, the stocks of broccoli and cauliflower, any part of the vegetable that you would toss normally and place them in a freezer bag or a Tupperware container in the freezer until you’ve accumulated enough. Then toss the frozen veggie shavings in a pot, top with water. Bring to a boil, put a lid on top, reduce heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Strain the liquid and voila. Add any spices, salt and pepper to your preference and freeze in Tupperware for up to 6 months. You can also freeze little ice cubes of the broth and take one out each time you need to sautée something. Place the broth-cube in the pan until it melts then add your veggies for sautéing. ☺️ - greetings from Ottawa, Canada. Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy!

Hello from Melbourne, Australia. I am a nurse working at the Children's Hospital and everything is still ok at the moment. Our shelves are also very empty, but supply has not slowed down so no food shortages yet, just lots of people hoarding. I started getting depressed and let my healthy eating and active lifestyle go by the wayside a bit. Canceled my gym membership due to covid and put on a few pounds. But I held on to healthy habits due to it being ingrained in my life and bounced back and now I’m eating about 90% plant based and the outdoor parks are my gym!

I bought just a little bit two Fridays ago to have some extra, like you, and last Friday I bought again to have enough for the week. Guys, please go to the supermarket as less as possible, once a week at the most, and don't visit family members or friends even (especially) if they are sick. Stay strong and enjoy the alone time!
