I love the partials look too! I have 12 so 2.5 rows and I just adore them. I love my loose hair but it’s so fine there’s no volume so the dreads even it all out. My partner loves to play with all my hair loose or dreads. Great video, always good to see up to date tips
Thank you for watching! Yes I am deff enjoying the partial deal. I do believe I'll be adding in a few more. Total of 28 at that point. Then leaving all the loose. Good luck on your journey! ✌😊🕉
Last time I had dreds, I did my whole head, but I took them out after a year because my scalp was always ITCHY!!! How do you keep your scalp from itching (and looking like you have fleas)? I tried everything!!!
Hey I know this video was a while ago but I have really really think hair and I want to do dread for the first time can u give some tricks or anything along thoughs line
Just about to start my real dread journey, been braiding them. In for years Nd your vids are the beat. Yes. The best ones on yt AND ur funny as crazy and i just think we would be besties.... Lols...... Thanks lovely x
You make it look so easy I am super I spired but I have short hair just above my shoulders and do t know where to place partial dreads fo starting this dread process. I feel full head dreads would look silly with short hair"(
Just go for it! The process is super exciting with never a dull moment, you will learn so much along the way. Your hair will shrink up during the first year as they mature and lock up, but using oil treatments during care will help speed up new hair growth and length.
You are very welcome! I am glad the video was helpful! The rubber bands are great at keeping everything separated. I usually recommend keeping them in for about a week. But you will know what is best. If the loose hairs at the scalp area are starting to get tangled then you can remove them then as well.
This may be a really dumb question.... please excuse my ignorance... so at what point do you remove you remove rubber band from the base of your head/dread?
You remove them after about a week and/or after the first wash or 2. Just as long as you remember to separate the dreadlocks as they are maturing than you will be just fine. Thank you for watching and I appreciate your support! Hope your dread journey is going well and please feel free to reach out with updates!
Yes indeed I do. I usually like to keep the rubber bands in for a few days after installing the new dreadlocks. Just in order to keep them separated and from conjoining together, After that I remove the rubber bands when feeling confident enough that the dreadlocks are on their way and will stay in tact and separated from one another.
I think i did them wrong ontop of my head, are you supposed to make the dread to were it comes out of the middle of the section, yk like pulling the hair straight up and then backcoming, because mine come out of the side of the section and i think that gives it a flatter look with less volume that i dont like, i saw you put rubber bands in to hold it while u backcombed, i think im gonna try that to keep the dread coming out of the middle of the section, do you thats causing the flat on the scalp look?
All hair types are different, and more oily or slippery/smooth hair tends to be trickier to knot/dread up. It is rather hard to get them perfect near the scalp area for most dreadheads, myself as well. Just keep working with them and watching tutorials to help. I have an entire Dread playlist with over 40+ videos on my channel that may help. Good luck and keep me posted, if there is anything else I can help with just reach out!
@@HippieHousewife thankyou and i ended up figuring it out, i jist didnt back comb the dread enough to were it stacked on itself yk, i reback combed especially near the scalp and that gave it the thick dread look 👍
Keep the rubber bands in for about a week at the top near the scalp. This will help keep the dreadlocks separated for the first few days as they try to lock themselves up. However, make sure the bands are not too tight so you don't cause agitation or pulling of loose hairs.
I remove the rubber bands a few weeks later, I wouldn't recommend doing too many washes with them in or they get tangled in your loose hair on the scalp area.
Sometimes yes, depending on how long they become. In the shower they are very heavy. I would recommend making smaller ones and not too super thick. Over time as they mature and lock up, they get thicker naturally. Starting off with smaller ones will help them dry faster and feel lighter. Good luck! Thanks for watching
What plant-based kibble do you recommend for cats? People always ask me since I'm vegan, and I have no idea since I've never owned cats. Figured I'd ask, I doubt hippies purchase inherently violent things IE unnecessarily murdered animal body parts
@@naitkiblo For one, studies have found no difference in longevity for the cats, and suggest that it can also yield health benefits. For two, some people are vegan, which means reducing cruelty to and exploitation of animals as much as is practicably possible. Those two put together means that if someone is against harming animals needlessly, and an animal can be healthy and have the same longevity WITHOUT harming animals for their food, then the moral way to feed that animal would be the way without causing harm to others. I mean, if you'd like to eliminate as much contribution to exploitation of animals as you can in your own lifestyle, but still believe despite recent studies that cats should only ever be fed meat, then the answer is simple - don't adopt cats. Similarly with snakes. I couldn't, in good conscience, adopt a snake (save 1 animal) and be required to feed it one mouse per year for the next 20 years (condemning 1,040 animals to death) because that would yield a negative.
@@naitkiblo I personally don't see the difference between feeding them a kibble they're willing to eat and feeding them a kibble they're willing to eat when there's no identifiable health difference between the two kibbles among the scientific community. I would simply feed them the less-harm kibble, so long as it's proven to be equally healthy. I'm not a huge fan of cats, but even if I was and felt that I MUST feed them one kibble over the other simply because of the origin of one versus the other, and that kibble ending up causing significantly more harm to animals over the lifespan of the cat than having adopted the cat prevents to animals, I would determine that it logically makes no sense to adopt cats, as I'd be condemning possibly hundreds to death in order to save one. So, that means if I already had cats when I had gone vegan, I would take care of them, since I vowed to do that prior to going vegan, but I wouldn't make any new adoptions. I think that sounds reasonable. Same for snakes. If I had a snake prior to going vegan, I would still take care of them, but wouldn't make any new adoptions
@@AlbuquerqueBandit Taurine is an essential amino acid that cats can only get from animal product. It's absolutely critical to their overall health. I'm surprised you keep mentioning science but haven't mentioned how necessary it is for felines and how it 100% can not be found in any plant-based materials. My cat is also willing to eat pancakes and cheese, that doesn't mean that's good for her and meeting her nutritional needs. But I'm glad you don't actually own cats and feed them a vegan diet, it's cruel to not meet an animals nutritional needs based off of personal belief, I do know there are kooky people out here doing that.
I will be doing it on my own for the first time this weekend im doing partial dreads
How did it go?

Do have to leave the elastics in or do you remove them at some point?
I’m wondering the same thing. Do they stay in or do they go????
Nope they get cut out. Carefully though! I'd say leave them in for about a week to keep the dreads separated.

Definitely about to ask the same thing.
Also wondering the same do you leave the band in for a while just to keep it separated and than cut it out?
