Thank you so much for sharing the message about being respectful in the National Parks. I live in Montana very close to Glacier National Park and it’s so frustrating when people just do what they want without a thought for the wildlife or land.
Joshua tree park is actually known for being able to go rock climb there. A good amount go to national parks specifically for rock climbing. A lot do top rope climbing, lead climbing and bouldering. They sometimes have specific places that you are allowed and others you can go wherever.
Joshua visitors have been destroying the trees and park in the last few years. It’s heartbreaking. The park suffered a lot during Covid.
That’s terrible :(
What an amazing trip! Thanks!
I am SHOCKED that there are fewer yarn store tour videos. I _love_ them.
I loved the sound of the train! It reminded me of of when I still lives in the Hudson Valley in New York. You could always hear the sound of the train bouncing off the mountains. Soooo pretty!
Yosemite is crowded year round, its one of the most visited parks. Of the parks I've been to, Joshua Tree really does seem to have the biggest issue with people going off the path. Its my local park, but its also the most local for LA, and when I've gone it definitely seems like people care more about getting a good photo for instagram than the plants they are stomping through.
That makes sense about Yosemite. Truly so sad!
I used to live a block away from the train station in my town. Miss the train noises…
I seriously love the Sierra range and specifically the eastern side because there are so many things to see. I think you came out of the north entrance of Yosemite through the Tioga pass which is seriously beautiful. Death Valley is really close to there as well. Another interesting point is that Mt Whitney, the tallest point in the continental US is also very close to Death Valley at the lowest point. You might have seen Titus Canyon in Death Valley and that is a spectacular drive as well. I just think this area is just magical.
What a great road trip! So glad you've been able to visit so much of California. Yosemite is notoriously crowded, but I'm glad you saw the valley floor. Lake Shasta has been our go-to vacation spot for the summer the past few years; we rent a houseboat and take in the nature. Have a great time in Utah!
Just to let you know, that train whistle is a signal; two long toots, one short, then one long is a warning that they're about to cross a roadway. I loved all the backgrounds you used! Thanks for the video!
ive noticed that more and more with the culture these days people think they can do what they want because they just want to. no respect for rules or caring about others. interesting that you have been there at national parks to see that in motion. these videos especially bless me because ive always wanted to go to those places
You are so pretty Natalie 😊
Yay!! I've been so inspired by all your Musselburgh hats and have been thinking lately that I need to purchase the pattern. Thank you!
I love all your WIPs. Amazing you get so much done while adventuring into our Parks. Yes, you are getting into a more busy time for NPs. Nice you took the time to kick back in Joshua NP and see the stars.
You did a great job describing your travels.
Thanks
Love your talk about" Leave no Trace" in the Parks, I agree❤
Utah!! Yay! Check out Heindselman’s in Provo, it’s the oldest yarn store in the United States! And while you’re here, drive a couple blocks east on Center Street to Harmony, they also sell yarn as well as gifts, sewing, quilting, stationary, etc and every time I go there I have a hard time spending less than $100 😂 I’m working up the courage to ask Harmony and Heindselman’s if they’d like to sell my local hand dyed yarn since I finally launched my shop, I’m so scared of the rejection though.
Hello from Swansea, Illinois.
I had to chuckle a little bit when you said you didn’t like the crowds in the National Parks because girl you lived in NYC. 🤭😉🤩
Hahahhaa it’s different 😅😅 Nobody talks to you in NYC
@@KnittyNatty but a lot more people. I love you videos and the van video was amazing.
It bothers me so much how disrespectful to the parks and park rangers! Full grown adults too! Glad to know I’m not the only one.
I loved seeing all the places you visited in the desert. We lived there for two years while my husband was stationed at Edwards Air Force Base. We moved there from Ohio so the landscape was a bit shocking at first, but we grew to love it and Tehachapi was one of our favorite day trips. Thanks so much for sharing!
I am so enjoying your travels to places I’ve heard about but can never visit! I can’t believe people have no respect for such precious environments like Joshua Tree . It makes me sad that the world is going this way! Lovely to see Toaster in the snow even if he didn’t like it very much! I like to visit yarn stores with you so will look forward to the next ones as well as seeing your own lovely projects. Take care x
Glad to see you're having fun and visiting all the sights! This country has so much to offer it's hard to see everything. I hope you're able to spend more time in Washington state. It really doesn't rain all year here but the rain does make everything green and lush. We have some spectacular places to visit with beautiful scenery! Enjoy your travels!
My daughter can tell you all about the size of Rainier. She climbed it. She's much better at climbing than her mother. She has also biked Going to the Sun multiple times. It's a beautiful ride. As you were saying--being in parks is great when they aren't 'in season'. Glacier (home of Going to the Sun) is a 'smallish' park, and in summer it can average 1 million visitors/month. They call it the crown of the continent. There are also excellent yarn shops in the towns near Glacier.
If you go out of Arizona on I-10 to New MExico stop at the rest area in Texas Canyon. The Chiricahua National Monument
is so cool
We loved that one! We are actually headed north this time!
Lover of Inside Out here as well, so excited for the second movie!
Hi Natalie and Kent. Your hexie blanket is looking beautiful. I have started one but not joined any together yet. it was great to see the seasons within the mountains and valleys. Looks like you enjoyed The Joshua Tree National Park. Great you could stay there and enjoy the atmosphere. take care driving and I am looking forward to the next yarn tour. Thankyou,
love the hexagons that are orange and yellow
your blanket is looking so good! i love inside out too. it's a great movie for both kids and adults. some parts made me very emotional but overall i really enjoy it. i think i've seen it 5 or 6 times.
6:26 yayyyyy!!!!!!!!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉 thank you! I will email you😊💛
Knitting in the Heartland is happening in the Kansas City area April 26-28 2024
You might want to invest in a popup canopy or large beach umbrella to protect you and your equipment from the sun and rain. If you have any storage under the van or it could be strapped to the top and not be in the way..
Anyone else get Sully from Monsters Inc vibes from the Coven Collective hexi?
Also #question: what happens if you finish a pair of those Vanilla is the new Black socks and figure out that the heel isn't as comfortable as you hoped? Suck it up and finish the other pairs - don't forget the "Crown of..." socks! - anyway?
I always enjoy your videos. Thanks so much!!
If you get to some of the parks in Utah, you’ll see a lot of rock formations that’ll blow your mind. I especially like goblin State Park, which is not one of the national park but it’s pretty cool.
The poker things are called Goat heads. A hardy seed for the plant. A very annoying weed of the arid climate. 🫤
Try a vacuum sealed bags for storing your hexi blanket.🧶💜🇦🇺Western Australia 🇦🇺
Do the hike at Picacho peak-- it is amazing!!!!
The sun issue is fine, we can get an idea of it in bright light and low light
Ahh good point!
I have finished a pair of vanilla is the new black socks and I love them. I also thought the foot looked small lol.
You can see it well enough! It's really pretty and I love the total foot ribbing. love the sock blockers as well. Looks like Toaster! the Hexi blanket turned out so nice! Can you store it in a pillow case n put it in your bedding bin? It's so beautiful!
Spiky balls are cholla cactus. Not fun at all!
No matter how you post your videos, I will happily view them! What an adventure you guys are on. I'm sad to hear of the disrespectful park folks. I want to yell "do better. You're going to ruin it for everyone!"
Thank you so much! Yes exactly!!
😍😍👌
Oooooo your blanket is growing, so beautiful. Question…lol why is your pup named toaster? I love that name for a dog
Were they hurting themselves, others, or the park itself? (Not being snarky - sincerely asking.)
What heel turn called
No, goats head are the worst sticker.
