My favourite sci-fi show of all time. I still have my 3 old plastic kit eagles I built as a kid. Ordinary, rescue and VIP. Just different paint schemes really.
I also still have my plastic kit Mk IX Hawk, which I painted yellow (not orange) since back then no internet and all I had to ho by was watching pictures in various magazines and try to catch the paint schemes as I watched the episodes on TV. I'm talking of back in early to mid 70's when I built them as a kid. Also my die cast metal toy versions of the eagle. One green one blue freighter Eagle.
I have decided to pick up my model building hobby again after all these decades. I have ordered the 1/48 scale laboratory Eagle with extra spine boosters as well as two 1/72 Eagle kits (the same ones you're bulding). I will get a 3rd and once more make different versions of it. I will attempt to lit their cockpits although I never ever tried anything like that back in the 70's.
I have also ordered the 1/72 scale Mk IX Hawk and this time I will paint it the correct orange (not yellow) paint scheme that was used in the episode "War Games" in season 1.
I have also ordered collectors versions from "Sixteen 12". Really nice collectors kits in limited edition. Two of them included the ground based laser tanks used in some episodes like "The Infernal Machine". There were three different tanks used. One of which had a cickpit that looked a bit like the Eagles cockpit. I finally have them all. Never seen them as plastic model kits.
Next release from "Sixteen 12" (in late summer) will be "The Swift" ship from the "Brian The Brain" episode. I've never seen that either as a plastic model kit, so I have to settle for pre-made collectors versions of them all.
I would prefer to have them all as plastic kits, build and paint them myself. As well as the "Meta Probe" seen in the "Breakaway" episode, but alas, not seen any if them as plastic model kits. Maybe one day someone will release model kits of them.
Sorry for rambling on. I have autism along with severe ocd and tend to get stuck on details and really get into things. I keep rambling on about topics that I'm into until others fall asleep. Focusing on finding the right words and put together sentences to cover all angles. I just recently got diagnosed with autism and never knew that was the reason I am like I am throughout my life. My OCD however, I was diagnosed with about 30 years ago.
I'm looking forward to watching your build series and maybe pick up some hints and tips on photo etched stuff as well as air-brushing and lighting kits. Back in the 70's I only used normal brushes. Never any air-brush, but I plan on using that this time around.

Have you finished the build? You’ve added a lot of second party kits for more detail. It would probably take me 10 years to build it with all that detail. 😂

So what happened was that I dropped this model when I had it done except for the cargo module and decals. It shattered like it was made of porcelain. I was super bummed and put it in a box and didn't even look at it after. I have gotten a new kit and all the after-market parts. But since then I have done a P-47 plane, the Strange New Worlds Enterprise. I am now doing an A-6 plane then I will do the rereleased Millennium Falcon from MPC Round Two. I am also pretty slow because I have so little time to contribute to the hobby but I do love it.

@@psychwithmike7852 Oh Wow-what a bummer! I ordered my 14” eagle from my lhs & recieved it in November of 20’ & barely started it cause I was building an enterprise refit. I just got back into building it cause I saw the release of the two pre-built eagle models & wanted the rescue eagle but they are ridiculously high priced. I thought about it & was like, I just need to finish my eagle model. I also been binge-watching a lot of the first season of the show. 🔥

Unfortunatly, there are very few of us who have achieved perfection. That said I appreciate you letting me know about the error. I hope you have a wonderful day.
