I was suffering from so much joint pain and went to see female rheumatologist two obgyns before with no help. The rheumatologist's answer was to diagnose me for something I didn't have to give me pills that didn't work. I turned to youtube for answers and changed my diet. I started to finally get relief. When I told her she berated me and increased meds that I threw out and continued my journey of nutrition and walking. Never went back. Five yrs later, I'm pain-free with the help of God 🙏
Sounds like my story. After I was diagnosed with RA, did a ton of research on natural remedies and healthier, anti-inflammatory diet. When I met with the specialist and told her about lifestyle changes I was making she scoffed at me and said that changing my diet wasn’t going to help or improve my symptoms. She said only thing that was going to help was to take meds. She basically discouraged me from taking a holistic approach and made me feel like my situation was hopeless. Suffice to say I didn’t go back to her. It’s been a tough journey but with God’s grace and healing I’ve not had to start taking any long term meds. I’ve occasionally had to take a milder anti-inflammatory med but it’s been almost 3 yrs and I’m managing the condition really well with prayers, eating better, meditation and incorporating stress management practices. If there’s anyone reading this who is struggling with an autoimmune condition, know that there’s hope. And there are things you can do to improve your symptoms and have quality of life. Don’t let anyone, even a doctor, tell you that there’s no hope. Lean not on your own understanding. 🙏🏽❤️
Thank you, and I am sorry for your experience. Female drs are just as likely to dismiss us. How rude! Glory to God that you are finding relief! God bless you to be heard and to stand up for yourself. May God put to shame anyone who seeks after you soul. In the name of Jesus.
This isn't menopause related, but one doctor I went to crossed his arms, leaned over to be right in front of my face, and loudly said, "Stop eating all of the fast food! Cut out the soda and the sweets, start exercising, and you will see all of these issues magically disappear. " He didn't even do so much as look in my ears. Nothing. I wasn't fat, I didn't eat ff in over 2 years, I hadn't had soda in 9 years, and I was going to the gym every day. I couldn't understand why I was having so many issues, including weight gain, and that was the response I got. A doctor who did her job found I had hypothyroidism, gluten sensitivity, and I am sensitive to dairy. Cutting those things out made an amazing difference. Even the constant body pain and sluggishness was gone.
You are not alone. Menopause & Autoimmune person here who have been told it was mental illness & given those pills instead of checked for menopause & autoimmune. Yes we have to advocate for ourselves.
I have the same problem. I have hashimotos and fibroids and gallbladder problems I have cut out wheat and a lot of things, I need to cut out ALL grains.
I’ve have friends who have tried that, they knew what was wrong through research but when they presented it to Drs they got very Irritated and quite arrogant. Started treated them differently.
I'm 44 years old and started to have all the symptoms of perimenopause. No doctors would listen to me or take the time to educate me on maybe it's hormones. I had to go out and research what was wrong with me. Finally, I found on UA-cam that women doctors are trying their hardest to get this information out. For women like me, think they are going crazy, Thank you for this topic on your channel.
I started having perimenopause at 32. Fast forward, I'm 36, and my issues continue to intensify. My doctor, who was a gem, did tell me I was too young to be anywhere close to menopause. I was told it was stress. This topic needs to be highlighted, and women need to be supported.
Know that you are not alone. I’m 44 and started experiencing perimenopausal symptoms at age 42 due to stress. I’m a healthcare practitioner and it took me months of research to understand the fundamentals of hormones. I lowered the stress, am on bioidentical hormones, and working on adrenal support, and feel balanced again. I hope you’re navigating well too.
I started my perimenopausal symptoms when I turned 46 also. My female doctor didn’t even say anything except you are eating more than you should and exercise more because that will make everything better because all your tiredness and fatigue is because you are overweight. I felt terrible! I myself is a health care provider so I do know what I need to do and the symptoms I felt are real. Doctors need to be taught more and we women need to demand better care and research and empathy from our health care providers. This was almost 10 years ago and I still nothing has changed which is so disappointing.
I am so glad that I listened to this podcast. I have a stiff shoulder for no reason, hip pain, brain fog, dry skin, itching ears, pain in the joints, pee 100x a day. I never knew any of that was from menopause.
Before I found Dr. Haver online ( 1 year ago) I thought I was going nuts. I had pain, without exercise, dry eye, weight gain, without diet change, frozen shoulder, although I swim regularly. Nobody really talked about these things. All I associated with menopause were hot flashes. Knowing that my symptoms are part of menopause, a natural part of a woman’s life cycle, has brought peace. Changing my diet, taking Vitamin D, Fish oil and Magnesium had helped. I swim for strength training and eat a healthy diet. Cutting out sugar and alcohol made the biggest difference. The hot flashes are gone. I sleep well at night. My hips no longer hurt. Thank you for discussing these issues publicly. Knowing that one isn’t alone with these problems and learning what to do has been very helpful.
This all hurts. I went to my female GYN about severely changing periods - every other week, extreme bleeding, bloating, diarrhea, nausea - plus a big weight gain. I got told “you’re just getting older” and a referral to the weight loss center. 2 years of suffering later, found out that I had developed multiple fibroids, several as large as tennis balls, and severe endometriosis all of my GI tract and bladder. I hate what medicine has become. So many technological advances and yet prehistoric care.
That's why I don't go to doctors anymore unless it's an emergency. I went to 5 doctors who told me that my body's craziness was my new normal. I said screw that and over the last 6 years, I've been introduced to two advanced health solutions that boost the body's own abilities to repair, rebalance, and regenerate itself. They've changed my health like nothing else ever has. They're things out there right now that have zero toxicity and no side effects. Not medication bc they're native to the body. Don't lose hope. They're there.
I had alot of those symptoms.. very heavy periods. soaking ultra tampons in an hour, blood clots the size of a ping pong ball.. It was my thyroid. I have Hashimoto's Disease. Once treated for hypothyroidism it is normal now.
I have fibroids too and thyroid and gallbladder problems. I'm using Castor oil run on your abdomen and belly button! It can dissolve the tumors and gallstones and it helps with so many health problems! Look up videos on it. Barbara O Neal has videos on it. Have to get it in a glass bottle.
@@AngelaEnjiePark oh that sounds wonderful. Could you please🙏🏻 share more on what you found, what you did & what your doing for the betterment of your health???
Thank-you thank-you thank-you. Misogyny!! You hit the nail on the head. I'm so thankful these female doctors have stepped up to help other women. I'm learning from these women doctors on UA-cam. I'm 66 years old, and this is so heart-warming for me.
I don't believe they are all misogynistic, I believe there is a lack of knowledge and training in some cases. The medical field does not study women's health nearly enough. There are a ton of female doctors and scientists now, some are actually stepping up to the plate. I think big pharma has a lot to do with it as well. If they teach us how to help ourselves, they lose money! * I'm not saying there isn't a lot of misogyny, I just don't put it all in that basket.
@@crazymommadramalife3498 The lack of curiosity and desire to pursue knowledge in Women's health, and lack calls for training in Women's Health, stems from Misogyny itself. It's "Women's issues aren't as important as Men's", "They just need to deal with it, how bad can it be? lols".It is _only_ because of the far and few between Male Doctors, and Doctors like Dr. Haver that this is changing. But it took *thousands* of years of Medical History to reach this point of caring for Women? It's ridiculous.
Think of the marriages that could have been saved! I definitely felt off kilter in my 40s, when I felt most apathetic towards my ex-husband, and irritated by him. He wasn’t perfect, but I can see now looking back the irritation I felt was probably due to perimenopause symptoms . I had no idea about any of these things, but none of us did. I’m now in my 50s, and this information is extremely valuable and needs to be shared exponentially. I’m making sure my daughter sees this!! Thank you Lisa for bringing this to light and much gratitude for Dr. Haver changing direction in her medical career to menopause and for having the courage to actually LISTEN to women, & following your intuition that this information is sorely needed in the world.
I bought a book called "Menopause Without Medicine" and changed my diet accordingly. I rarely had hot flashes, only if I became frustrated about something! I had a herbal drink that I drank at night if I became hot. I took early retirement at 55 and found another job within 6 weeks. This was a whole new learning curve for me, and I quickly absorbed ! Change your diet, stop eating junk and drinking all of that coffee! Teach people how to take care of themselves!
Why is woman’s health so undermined? We must bear children go thru menstruation every month for rest of our lives and then menopause!! We should be at the top of the healthcare list for quality healthcare and education on these life changes.
The consolation is it gets better! I’m now 65 , went through menopause since I was in my forties. A nightmare just trying to figure out remedies. It was not easy dealing with the severe hot flashes , night sweats, depression , anxiety etc. When I was young doctors didn’t want to prescribe hormones due to cancer causing side affects.A lot of my younger of my younger friends are taking biogenetical hormones which is helping them immensely. Thank you for this discussion for the women of today !!
My doc told 3 weeks ago theres nothing she can do to help me through my transition. Explained my lack of libido is hurting my relationship, the response was “I wish men went thru menopause” Luckily bc I follow Dr Mary Claire I knew better & was able to start HRT, life changing. I have begun speaking to every woman who will listen to me on the MT & there is no reason for women to suffer. Thank you for sharing this!
It is so degrading that women’s health especially menopause has been happening this way for years and years. Now we are joining together and educating ourselves with your help. Thank you so much for shining a spotlight on menopause. I have been unnecessarily suffering for over a decade with debilitating anxiety, depression, hot flashes, just feeling bad all the time. Do more of these podcasts and I will share them with the women in my life! 👍Renée
Went to a younger female OBGYN few years back thinking I might get help. Sleep disruption was huge to the point of causing anxiety, irritability. I begged for HRT. She offered antidepressant. I was furious. Never been depressed or anxious. I just wanted something that could help me stay asleep. Searching for another OBGYN.
This came at a perfect time as I've been telling my Dr last couple visits that I've been feeling "off" and all my symptoms. I'm 43yrs old, I know my body is changing
I’m 60 and Just would like to mention that my overall 33:04 cholesterol number & LDL numbers decreased significantly this past year & the only thing differently I did was raise my vitamin D3 to 10,000 iu’s. Been researching vit D quite a bit & found that along with K2 it has several benefits but of course big pharma doesn’t want us to know.
I asked mom about her menopause when she it (she's almost 88) she doesn't remember but I know it was when I was in high school. She had a hysterectomy when she was 38. I'm almost 52 and haven't had one yet. Still perimenopause which I hit about 43 or so
I have 6 living children, had a tubal ligation and im going to be 54 this month and i just started going through menopause. The only symptoms i have had is weight gain especially in my stomach and i haven't had a period in 6 months but nothing else thank GOD.
I felt the brain fog. I was a speaker that traveled all over the US and then I began to feel as if I could no longer be on my A-game. I questioned myself so much. I developed anxiety. Then I went into a different field of work and I had situations where I felt small. I had difficulty responding to questions regarding complex analysis that I had no problems with before. I question myself as a manger, I’ve asked myself if I should be working at all. Now learning about perimenopause my mind exploded. This makes so much sense. I’m finally feeling hopeful. I’m 46 and now I will begin HRT to see if I can get back to myself. Fingers crossed.
.... I am an English teacher in Germany and i struggled with finding the right English words so much .... after only a few weeks of HRT my sleep and metabolism and brain improved so much! Good luck to you 🍀🍀🍀💪💪💪
I love Lisa because she is so human being, she is not afraid to talk about herself in podcast about her feelings. It makes me feel connected to podcast because I feel like then I am not the only one who is going trough same challenges as me.
I’m 47 and just found out I’m post menopausal and I was losing my mind. My symptoms are worst. In hindsight over the years everything now makes sense. I had a hysterectomy at 36yo and have been going through it. I’m so glad I found this video.
This is the comment I've been looking for! My best friend is going thru it too. (As am I) Except she is in denial. She had a hysterectomy a few years ago, as well, and is now going through all of the symptoms of perimenopause. I keep telling her that is what is happening. But she blames it on her breast implants and had them removed, however, even after removal she still has all the symptoms of her "breast implant poisoning". Can I ask if you had a full hysterectomy or a partial (still have ovaries)? I would love to try to help her based on your story. Thank you in advance.
Dr. Haver ist eye-opening!!! ♥😎I had symptoms of a frozen shoulder for 2 years during menopause (50-52 y), and it was so painful that I had sleepless nights. It got better, but my right shoulder is never the same. My skin is so dry, like falling snow in my pants, Arthritis flaming up, and gaining weight...Terrible horrible... I will soon be 55, and thanks to Dr. Haver, I've just started HRT - I hope it will help me!🙏🙏
@@donnacabanilla2159 My shoulder is getting better😎 aaand I sleep like a baby every single night🥱 that's absolut blessing! I feel with Estrogen my body feels like "lubricated"😂 That's how I feel now😎
She did mention prayer..we muslims as well do prayer 5 times a day..doesn't take much time n is so stress relieving..so grateful..n we express gratitude as well everyday..
I've never come across Lisa before, but I'm so glad i have now. She asks great questions and i love her sense of humour and the way she expresses her emotions/reactions. She also appears to be very empathetic.
Same, she's absolutely adorable (wonderful is probably the better word.😅) Smart and she really does seem super empathetic - which is far too rare! I loved this interview, it's nice to be validated about symptoms when you've been to doctor after doctor like you're a hot potato for 10 years.
For the past 3-4 years I have been sleeping with headphones in my ears all night, playing white noise. I don't know if it's healthy for the brain or ears, but because the slightest sound wakes me up it helps tremendously with my sleep. I have high quality 8-hour sleep almost every night.
Yikes! I had to look at your name as these words look like they were typed by ME! Exact same timing too except, I used headphones until I realized noise wasn't helpful for resting my brain. So now I use rubber ear plugs or silicone ear plugs ( amazon) to QUIET everything...otherwise I panic and wake up and it's vicious during the day with extra fatigue on top of my baseline fatigue.
All I get told when I go to the drs is to loose weight, easier said than done. I have learned far more on the internet / UA-cam etc than from my dr. Thank you Lisa for doing what you’re doing!! Thank too to all your guests also. ❤
This information and more is IMPERATIVE. Appreciate! Some women don't have the luxury? of "peri-menopause" some of us are given a violent shove into full blown menopause (stress is one main cause) it's sad to know that women are not only dismissed but can also be seen as a "vulnerable patient" Someone to be exploited... for a hidden agenda?? THANK YOU FOR COVERING THE TOPIC OF MENOPAUSE.❤️♥️
I didn’t correlate itchy ears with low estrogen, but I have been applying the smallest amount with a q-tip and it works brilliantly. I loved Lisa’s laugh when she innocently and mistakenly thought it was vaginal juices that was recommended. Bless your playful & sincere heart Lisa!
OMG i have had persistent itchy ears since my 30's and had early menopause at 35. today I am going to urgent care though as trying to apply an itchy ear oil, I lost tip q-tip cotton in my ear, so do be careful
Thank you so much Dr. Haver, you are brilliant! I started reading your book, started HRT 11 days ago and the depression and fatigue are lifting. I’m looking forward to no more night sweats/hot flashes. I’ve given your book to a cousin, and told my friends about it. You are helping SO many women!
OMG!!!!!! I have been struggling for years! Tears, anger, sweats, and that darn frozen shoulder!!! Thank you for validating my experience! None of my doctors have put this together they way you did!!!!!! I will be watching you regularly now!!!!!! I have been taking herbs for years and without them, a lot of folks would be dead!
I went recently to my Dr. I was trying to explain every single symptom, and she kept asking how my mental health is, not only once, several times. Honestly, it is my body, my sleep, etc.. that is not doing well, not my head
Happened to me This week! She wouldn’t even discuss my hormones unless I took her statin and anti depressant! Took my labs and my self out of thst office! I’m 64, OF COURSE I’m in the basement!!
@@duranmirta And I noticed you said “she”. My previous Doctor was female and I spent 5 years going to her with similar, extreme fatigue, my hair falling out, dry skin, sleep issues, etc.. Now I’m just confused as to why she didn’t suggest or check my hormone levels. I could almost understand is my Dr had been male not female.
@Kaypee777 My theory is that older women(as my female doc) don't want to heal you. For them, we are weak, and we should be like them, and though it out. Insane!!
It is very angering when you go to any kind of doctor, be it your child doctor, or any kind, and you tell the symptomps, you clearly see the signs of the disease, and the doctor try to minimize it or tries to explaining away it, because they doesn't care and they doesn't have the energy to deal with it.
I went to my provider because I was gaining weight during menopause. He responded that "maybe you're drinking one too many sodas". I looked at him and I just said for your information I don't even drink soda ever!! I only drink water. I basically had a fight with him to get put on hormones because he didn't want to put me on them.
Omg!! I’m going to be 42 this year and I’ve noticed in the past year I need to sleep with two pillows under my knees so I don’t have hip and back pain!! And there’s no reason for the pain but it’s there.
Same here. My hips started hurting about 4 years ago especially in bed when I tried to sleep, now I am 43. Get down to the gym, do some weight training, it helped me. It is better now, but I have other problems... it is never ending!
This information is so eye opening. I lived 20 years of low energy, depression, weight gain, heavy periods, etc. (perimenopause). Nobody could help me. My naturopath (there was also a doctor in the practice in case I needed a referral) started with bloodwork to establish a baseline. He asked how I was sleeping, what I was craving and the health of my relationships. He took some of the darkness away. Now that I am in menopause, I have my life back. I have other issues, but life is still better than the hell before. Looking back, I was experiencing chronic stress which probably triggered the symptoms.
20 years?!? NOOOO! Tell me it doesn't last that long! I've just begun peri and I'm sooo exhausted. I have no energy, am so short tempered - I feel like I'm losing my mind some days. I'm happy you made it thru it and have your life back.
@@Theorist9 You will be ok. It took 20 years for me because no one talked about it or knew anything. I recommend starting now and book an appointment with a naturalpath and get your blood work done. You don’t have to put life on hold. It was worth it for me. My only regret was wasting those valuable years listening to male doctors and getting referred around. Everyone told me I was depressed and would get over it.
AMEN to that! It's absolutely reprehensible, ridiculous, dangerous (and so on) the lack of knowledge and interest in the medical field on this, and many other issues, that mainly/only effect women. 🙄
I just started to go to a gynecologist because I was crying mid conversation and thought I was going crazy. I’ve been having symptoms for years, night sweats, brain fog, weight gain even though I exercise and my eating is pretty good but when I went to the doctor a few years back about this I was dismissed and they wanted to give me pain meds and antidepressants even though I had my womb taken out at 40 and I’m now 49. I can’t believe you even mentioned bronchitis and frozen shoulders, and all of a sudden my body started acting and my blood work just showed a higher A1C even though I hardly eat junk and sugar and only drink water, and higher calcium and low B12 (plus I I have 3 different size tumors in my liver that the doctor just says most women have tumors in the liver and don’t even know about so their just going to look at them again next year) plus finding I can’t handle stress like I use to. I have had to have breathing treatments and shots with bronchitis and asthma for the very first time in my life several times last year, even the ear thing you talked about, I took myself to a ear nose and throat doctor a few months ago but found nothing so I thought I was crazy. I just went to a gynecologist and begged her to give me something even thought hate meds and like to go holistic (I refused the antidepressant) so I asked for the patch as I know that’s what my mum had so she gave it me and already I’m seeing a massive difference. I also went to a health store and got everything they told me to get. I’m now adding a ton of fruits and vegetables to my diet and doing all you are teaching here. Thank you so much. I wish I knew all this before now but better late than never
So glad to see this on you tube. I went into early menopause in my early 40’s . I literally lost my mind . I did attempt suicide once stated getting heart palpitations. My heart would literally start racing. I thought would beat out of my chest. They gave me blood pressure meds. Which caused more weight gain. I literally am going thru everything they are discussing. I really hope this info gets out. I have daughters, hoping they get the help they need when the time comes. 🙏🏻
Also, wanted to mention. Just turned 61 and came down with shingles last week. For some reason, feel like after the shingles my menopause symptoms have gotten worse. Wondering about the correlation.
I went to doctor who was a woman, she actually told me " it's all in your head" . I was wth! This is coming from a woman. I go to another doctor this time a man, he was surprised and said all she had to fo is do a blood test to see what's going on with hormones. Sure enough my estrogen dropped. He wrote script for very low dose. What hurts the most is reaction coming from a woman doctor.. doctors seem to be so not up to date on these issues. Thank goodness it's starting to get out on this issue
Some are just plain stupid. I had extreme, recurrent vertigo (BPPV) issues (caused by loose crystals in ear). My nose, ear, throat specialist said it could be due to perimenopause. When I told my gp I needed my hormones checked he said he didn't believe it was even possible. Proving his point :"Then how come men also get BPPV huh?" My jaw was in the floor, I literally didn't know how to respond to such stupidity from an 'educated' md. Needles to say, he's no longer my gp. Still can't believe it.
I have had the worst 7 years of my life during menopause. Im 54 now. Like all these ladies I have put on 2.5st when I have always been a size 8/10 (uk) and am now heading to size 14. Nothing in my diet and exercise has changed. I have been su*cid*l, been dissociating, have been self harming and my life has been hell. No-one will help even when I have self harmed and attempted su*ci*e. I have been fighting for help, made numerous complaints to different organizations and still got nowhere. I havent been able to work, keep myself and my home clean to even a basic standard, haven't been able to leave my house. At one time I was bringing up 4 kids as a single parent and working fulltime and managed to get my degree. I had a fairly successful career before all this happened. I'm only just starting to come out of it now after 7 hellish years but I am coming out of it, thank god. I'm still nowhere near how I used to be but at least I can get dressed most days, can shower a couple of times a week and can get out of the house sometimes. No-one has even tried to find out what is wrong with me. Being totally honest no-one has even cared if I died not even people who are supposed to be being paid to support people. What are they getting paid for?
Your story is one of tragedy and triumph. Sadly the medical profession is more about profit over people. I'm sure you have done all the research for yourself - keep on being the beautiful you who you are meant to be. Blessings to every woman whose voices are unheard and/or misunderstood. Thank you for sharing. ❤️😔♥️
@sherrymurphy855 even in the UK where healthcare is meant to be free the only help I have got is when I have gone private. And then when you get private care the NHS either refuses to accept anything that comes from a private provider or refuses to treat you because you are already paying. It's an absolute joke (and not in a good way). I feel for anyone trying to get help because even if you get a good GP much of the system is broken. Sadly it is regional as well. When I lived in England it was challenging to get referred but once you were things would happen. I've moved to Scotland and, in my current area, you hit a brick wall with every part of the system. It's horrendous
@@gillb9222oh my God, I didn't know all of that - we need support groups ASAP like yesterday! Women Supporting Women in Menopause - I'm more than ready. Thank you so much for speaking about all the knock-on effects!!! My perimenopause could be responsible for my "failing" in graduate school!! I'm one of those women who was doing well in a new career and then lost my words slowly, got diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, got RA, almost finished my dissertation, but now I'm at home, jobless, careerless, very fat, without confidence, and I can hardly think.......but at least my menstruation is almost completely gone now. So, now a lot of my time is spent looking on youtube at adhd and autism videos.....but maybe it could be perimenopause that pushed me over the edge then.
I think there are a bunch of us ladies who had children later in life (mid 30's) and then we have issues in our late 30's early 40s and have to deal with all this when we have 5 year olds. That's been tough for me. But I'm so thankful to be on HRT and finding some relief. Thanks ladies for continuing to bring education to us all.
Thank you for this episode 🙏 it literally is saving my life because I'm not doing well. I have clinical depression, I'm 47 and last period 12 months ago. 3 years ago I told my Dr I have MS symptoms and she told me to stay off doctor Google. 2 years ago I had a frozen shoulder and so much pain everywhere. Last year I was diagnosed with MS and I'm getting worse. Last week my Dr told me I have high cholesterol and my diet hasn't changed. The information today is brilliant ☺️☺️
@soulonfire77 Especially with MS it is important to supply the brain with a steady flow of hormones. Testosterone is also very neuroprotective. Inform yourself and find a good doctor. My heart ❤️ goes out to you, sister 💪🍀🍀🍀,
Dr Google saved my baby's life, so don't ever let them shame you for looking up symptoms. Google was how I knew I had cholestasis during pregnancy when the obgyn practice I was going to dismissed my symptoms. I told them I wanted a blood test and the next day they induced labor because my liver enzymes were 2-3 times higher than they should be. Since then I try to stay informed of the possibilities and then go into the dr office and tell them what I want 😂
So I was sexually abused as a child AND had a hysterectomy at the age of 40. Where does this put me as far as menopause? I’ve never heard of the sexual abuse factor. That is amazing that you are speaking on this! Thank you for being a voice. I hope this comment gets answered as I am scratching my head. I am also an avid listener of Dr. Mary Claire!
I wouldn’t take all of it that seriously, she said if you had a tubal ligation you go into menopause earlier. I had my tubes tied after my second son when I was 32. I am now 53 going on 54 and I still have my period
I wish someone would talk more about surgical total hysterectomies (overies and everything. Everything!), like I had in my 20s! That throws you into full menopause. No one mentions this🤷
SAME!!!!! I was 27 when i had my total hysterectomy. They put me on Premarin and told me I'd have to take it for the rest of my life. No education, no information... I didn't even know what Premarin was! Looking back, It makes me so furious! I finally took my health into my own hands and went the BHRT route and it saved me! Sending you hugs!
Omg! Thank you for this interview. I am having all the things. Never thought my shoulder pain was due to this issue as well, ya'll. I have never lost my words mid conversation in my life. My husband says I'm the best talker he has ever seen. Not anymore. Then 5 minutes later, I yell out the answer. It's all over pain, especially hip since my forties. I am now 52. Hot flashes like crazy and night sweats.
I am struggling so bad with brain fog and intolerance to stress. I may lose my job because of it. I am not performing at 100% but I can still keep up. It's just there is a brick wall that I can't get through to the next level and my job is demanding that of me right now. Then add to the anxiety that you already have and lack of sleep. It's a living hell.
In 2015, I was attacked by a stalker and was in the hospital for 13 months, I had to have many surgeries to rebuild my head and face, I had to learn to walk, balance and talk again. Somewhere in all that because of menopausal, I was sent home on antidepressants but they had said nothing to me about the menopause and I got worse and worse, Someone did a blood test for menopause but I wasn't told the results of that test until after I had a saniffanet suicide attempt and in hospital and then they started HRT. A saniffanet suicide attempt in the UK means if I hadn't been found when they did wouldn't be here now. I am only here now because in my drugged-up state I said something to my daughter on the facebook massager and it prompted her to come to check on me. Before that, I had no idea just how much menopause changes the body and how crazy it can make you. There needs to be so much more information out here to save lives How many die because of this?
You're a warrior 💪🏼. Never, ever forget that. Next time the thought of ending this life crosses your thoughts, simply remind yourself that you will have to experience these similar, if not same, exact events. You can't cheat in the Game of Life.
I was low birth weight baby, and delayed in everything...female. I'm nearly 60 and look early 30's people are stunned when i say my age. However, my generation was stopped on HRT when I needed the conversation (and treatment) the most. Now I've suffered triple bypass, osteoporosis (now osteopenia due to my diet/exercise), viriceral weight gain (fat around organs), and now having brain fog, skin/face changing, jointpain, etc etc. I'm finally gonna have the convo with my heathcare provider to school them on the new research so they won't shut me down and kill me.
So i came here through another video on menopause. I really love the chemistry between these two ladies. Its a really nice podcast. Extremely informative. Taking power back 👊🏻✌🏻
This has been life changing for me! I thank you for confirming what I always knew! Medicine is not comprehensive unless it comes through the women who actually experience life the way we do. Men will never have the ability to know our experiences and they really should not be Gynaecologists because they don’t believe us.
My “old” doctor was the holiday replacement of the new lady one last time and thanks God! He took me serious and gave me hormone replacement. The other woman being my age wasn’t listening to me! That has nothing to do with gender…
Thats not entirely true. May i add that when women are referred to its white women . Black and other groups arent included in studies abd as seen here we are not considered in conversation.
I was told it was in my head. I went to a psychiatrist, it wasn’t. I had Lupus SLE. I’ve had tremendous pain in my left breast since my son was born 25 years ago. I’ve been to over a dozen doctors and was told boobs just hurt. In December 2023 I was diagnosed with Stage III Inflammatory Breast Cancer in the same area I’ve had pain all these years. I had a spot on my leg and was told it’s just a lupus SLE spot. Two years later it was finally diagnosed as Basal Carcinoma (Cancer). I can’t make this shit up.
The insomnia and bloating is the biggest for me… I weight train 6 days a week, HIIT 5 days, run 5 days and walk 7 days with weighted vest. I eat clean, drink plenty of water- lots of protein, practice intermittent fasting, fasted cardio, supplements like berberine , turmeric etc but can not handle the bloating. The minute I eat, my stomach expands.
Maybe your stomach fluff iis from the lack of stomach acid. It goes down with age. You could take betaine which is gonna give you more digestive juices. You could also try a little ACV before eating.
@kristendifilippo7692 look into SIBO testing (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth) or back off vegetables for a while - the fiber could be causing bloat.
Thank you, this was great! When I was 41, I went to my female 35 yr old doctor and told her all my perimenopause symptoms, which I was ready for as I had been studying it for years. She told me no way it was perimenopause because I was too young. I realized then that she just didn’t have a clue yet, but she would find out for herself in a few years and then hopefully better be able to help her female patients. I had to figure things out on my own.
Before bio ID HRT while on traditional HRT …. Horrible vasomotor; sweated myself down to 103lb. Lost my brain. Thank you for your contributions to the awakening.
I literally had the opposite happen. I am currently 55 and JUST entered menopause. In my early 40’s I went to Dr because I had a whole host of issues for a decade before. I kept insisting something was wrong but they could never figure out why I was always hot, heart palpitations, extreme migrating joint swelling , extreme fatigue, migraines, rosacea, unbearable mood swings, (I could list things all day here!). They had either no answer OR menopause. Then I started with double vision and dr said maybe MS! I said no. Went to an intergrative dr, did a lot of tests and turns out I had been suffering with chronic Lyme for about 14 years!! Not menopause! Got the lyme treated every single symptom resolved, even stuff I hadn’t mentioned to the dr! So, just saying… it’s worth checking every resource available because you never know.
@@_kass3939 yes they are also all menopause symptoms. But the migrating joint swelling I experienced was kinda epic and should’ve been a huge red flag but drs have no real understanding of Lyme and the tests are insufficient. I was lucky to find an intergrative MD who did the appropriate testing to figure it out.
@@lauraestes9304 well..since it was ‘chronic’ Lyme and not acute, and my dr is an itergrative immunologist, not antibiotics. He focused on the issues with my nervous system. Any patient is going to need tx. tailored to their symptoms. Mine was about 7 months of weekly IV antioxidants and phosphatydalcholine. Diet changes including supplements (all supplements came from amazon not dr selling me products). It took work and dedication to these changes but I resolved 14 years of hell in about a year, and that was 2016/17. Been great since. However, the weight gain I am experiencing with menopause is really tough. I haven’t eaten sugar in 3 years and I don’t drink so idk what the issue is.
I love this woman! Her mindset of "this is what we know - let's expand that knowledge" is so refreshing! They should add a section to the MCAT that catches people who can't qualify a yes or no with "as far as we know now"
To destress....I found ways to minimalize my life. Found time to make time for ME! I have so many friends that are depressed and suffer from anxiety. I got rid of the toxic people in my life including my Ex husband!
If you don't mind me asking, when you make time for yourself, what kindss of things do you do? I'm working on doing that too. Why do we always feel guilty when we prioritize ourselves even though we know we can't pour from an empty cup?
@@crazymommadramalife3498 Hi there, I started bringing things back into my life that I enjoy doing. Swimming, Kayaking, Epson salt baths with candles and wine! Make time to read my book, Get my nails done, go for a massage, go see a movie without the kids! Today I'm going to a Hot fitness class I found a good deal for a trial! Sometimes I go out to a restaurant by myself for breakfast or Brunch (you wouldn't believe how good that feels. I can be on my phone, my order comes fast, take as long as I want!)❤❤ Just find yourself again and put that pep back into your step girl!
This makes perfect sense. I started having all these symptoms to include foot pain that I never had before until I had a complete hysterectomy. After about 1 year after my hysterectomy I was always in pain with joint pain, back pain, bloating, brain fog etc... u name it. I had it. There was mornings I would wake up and I couldn't even walk to the bathroom my heels hurt so bad. I even went to the foot doctor and told them about my foot/ heel pain that came all of a sudden and nothing they gave me for the pain helped not even foot injections. Then my OBGYN put me on Estrogen and Hormone medicine and all of a sudden my foot pain, joint pain, back pain, everything I was feeling was slowly going away like a miracle. I know now that this is 100 percent true that it is all hormone related. If ur going through menopause and you are going through pain you never had. Hormone is your solution. Take your hormone meds and you will realize that's your only solution. No more foot or heel pain for me . Now I go to the gym and run without any issues. It's like if I never had any pain .NO JOKE!
Medical gaslighting is out of control here in the US. Not just around menopause but for so many conditions that are both difficult to diagnose and treat. It is absolutely critical be your own advocate and if something a doctor said doesn't sit right, trust your gut. My best friend took over 7 years and $500K to find out that her vascular subtype EDS was causing her life-threatening issues. Can't tell you how many doctor's chalked her symptoms up to being in her head. This story jeeps repeating itself, much like that broken record of the "American Dream". To quote Carlin, they call it that because you have to be asleep to believe it. Wake up!!
I absolutely love your program I have learned so much from your show I’m 62 and women at my age were raised never to talk about such things And when I did, I was told that I just have to get used to it because it’s part of life I can’t Thank you enough for bringing this issue to light!! My daughters are in their 30s and I’m trying to share what I’ve learned to them especially your program I can’t Thank You enough ❣️
This gave me hope. My mother had HRT, but I was told it was dangerous. Fast forward to barely getting 4 hours sleep a night even with the best sleep routines, exercise, eating & Vitamin D. Nothing solved it...until HRT...finally I get 7-8 hours a night...my health has turned around all based on getting enough sleep! It did take me 4 female Dr.s to actually get HRT.
This episode was made just for me. Thanks and lots of blessings n best wishes to these 2 powerful girls and their teams to make it happen. I would love for all young ones to listen to this. I am 56 now n wish I knew this, earlier. Better late than never. Thank u God 🙏
I just dont know about HRT. My lovely MIL was on HRT for over 25 years. Now, she has dementia, sarcopenia to the extent that she no longer has the stregnth to stand up despite being 6 STONE now!! She has heart disease, kidney disease, brittle bones, lost all her teeth. I could go on. My mum (nearly 80) hysterectomy at 46, no HRT. Did couch to 5k at 75. No medication. Perfect health... The people i know on HRT are all overweight and unhappy but have crap lifestyles. I'm 58 and have a healthy lifestyle. Whole foods, moderate refined carbs, lots of protein, veg, fruit. No alcohol (used to drink 3 bottles a week for YEARS) chocolate at the weekend. Resistance training, cycling, breathwork (it takes less time than you think but yes it still must be prioritised over some things). I do still have some hot flushes. My sleep is often interrupted but i dont feel tired in the day; it's very tedious on those nights though. I had two frozen shoulders which are nearly better. So...i do still have menopause symptoms, just not enough to make me get HRT. But then i hear this doctor practically saying if i don't have HRT i could die earlier from heart disease etc and i doubt mysrlf, even though i really feel great. These talks can be very positive and helpful, i realise, but i always feel better before listening to them. I should probably stay away from them otherwise ill be convinced i should have done HRT when actually i feel great! (I do use vaginal oestrogen, which works a treat!) Btw the changes in cholesterol can be somewhat mitigated by changing diet and lifestyle, thereby reducing inflammation. It's not all down to hormones. Cholesterol only becomes an issue where there is inflammation as it is used to patch endothelial damage. Therefore, the cholesterol is not the real problem...the inflammation is. Using oestrogen to affect cholesterol is less effective than reducing inflammation. Yes, oestrogen reduces inflammation, but then why talk about cholesterol levels, and not get to the root of the problem?! Oops, sorry, I'm adding things as they come up. My visceral fat was twice what it is now, in the year of my transition through menopause. I have very low visceral fat due to diet (healthy eating) and lifestyle. I mean this to encourage ladies out there! I was nearly 2stone overweight when my periods stopped and NO EXAGGERATION i hadnt changed anything, the weight piled on before my eyes. But i changed that, once i believed it's possible. Don't despair, as is absolutely is possible!
I hate that drs hide information. My family members who are drs dont allow the older women go on HRT. What they dont tell u is it causes breast cancer. Drs want to writ u a prescription and tell u the risk of developing cancer is small and that might be true when it comes to people with no family history of cancer. But if cancer is a thing in your family, do not touch HRT. I dont know why the American medical system is so geared towards capitalism to the point it does not care about killing people, primarily women.
That’s great Alice! I agree, not being on HRT can sound scary when we hear these talks, I just try to think of all the women in my family who lived long, healthy lives without them, and I’m reminded that it’s not really for everyone. I’m also reminded of how when I was put on birth control pills at an early age for cramping and heavy periods, they were supposed to be life saving, only to find out later how negatively they can impact our health. I just try to stay away from pharmaceuticals and live as healthy a lifestyle with diet and exercise as I can, rather than mess with hormone altering medication again. I also found the opposite, fiber does not work for me.
Adter reading some of the comments ... instead of "WW"🤨 I propose "WSWM" Women Supporting Women in Menopause - support groups needed ASAP. OR "WTW" "WE THE WOMEN" WHY SHOULD WOMEN SETTLE FOR LESS THAN THE BEST AND STRONGEST CARE AND SUPPORT. And that may lie in WE THE WOMEN in collective, collaborative meaningful acts of compassion for other women.🌹
Absolutely love your comment. I'm all in for a Women Supporting Women in Menopause support group. It's definitely needed because we are not receiving the best care from some (PC) ( GP) or ( OBGYN) because they lack knowledge of how to address women suffering with menopausal symptoms.
I found Dr. Haver a few months ago and watched all her videos and did a bunch of research. I went to my OB and I felt good knowing about HRT and asked her to order estrogen patch and progesterone pills. What a game changer. Thank you!!!
This is so informative, wow! Thanks Lisa, for this life changing video. I was fixated from beginning to end, I'm 65 and have been doing strength training, more seriously now, for about a year.I wish I had started earlier. However, I have been very active in rock climbing, for about two years, which has been tremendously beneficial to my mental and physical health and loads of fun. I am very conscious about what I eat, however,I need to brush up in that department 😂... I'm working on it😅 The real reason I'm commenting, which is something I never do, is to let you know how adorable you are ... those expressions! 😅 No wonderTom loves you so much!❤ Thanks again Lisa
My GYN prescribed low-dose estrogen patches (applied to buttock) & replaced every 7days. Boy, did they help me out at age 51 when I started “my journey” into Menopause.
@@margiestephens7281 Great to know that info - 15/20 years ago there seemed to be very little help with menopause. Still, too many women suffer from awful symptoms for protracted periods of time. I think we've started a support group.🌷
I am 64 years old. I went through menopause in my late 50s. I have one fallopian tube due to an ectopic pregnancy in my 20s… they warned me I might go into early menopause due to this. I never did. I didn’t go into”peri menopause” into my early 50s and buy my late 50s. I was in full menopausal mode… a good thing for me was my symptoms was minimal maybe due to only having one fallopian tube. There was less hormonal change. I don’t know but hot flashes never bothered me. I did get them but being from Florida I’m used to eat and it never bothered me I never, liked the chills when you would get cold and then hot that would bother me a little bit. I didn’t like the cold, but I had no relationships in my life. I was single so I did not care about the ups and downs of hormones. my children were gone, moved on and grown up so I didn’t worry about children. All I had to deal with was my job, I was not under a lot of stress there either. I learned other women suffered a lot. I can’t say that I am 64 now and I have minimal symptoms. The only symptoms I ever remember dealing with for being cold. I really had no weight gain until I stopped working last year now I’m gaining weight which is fine. I deserve to gain weight, after all, it’s part of it lol
I went to my doctor and he says you are not menopause. I have not had my cycle for two years. I asked his nurse assistant to give me a prescription and she never called me back and I went in so I could get the prescription and they did the pellets. I am so tired and angered at this system.
IT'S STILL A MEN'S WORLD! Doctor's trainings at university still same like 100s of years ago. Let alone Polititians augmenting suppressions nowadays! LADIES , FOUND SELF- HELPING GROUPS + PROMOTE THEM BY ALL MEANS!
Wow! I just turned 52 in May. I don’t get a period anymore because I got endometrial ablation due to heavy periods, but I got Covid and I thought severe inflammation/joint pain was due to Covid because it lasted for two years, but maybe it is the menopause. I do not get hot flashes. I’ve been very irritable and I put weight on through my belly, this was very informative video. Thank you 👍🏼
I'm 52......same exact situation for me! I don't have the mood swings or low libido but the belly fat & weight gain are horrible even though I've changed my diet and I work out at least 4 days per week.
I am 48 and just starting to experience some minor symptoms - waking up at night, some brain fog (although I have experienced this for years - possibly perimenopause related?) and low-libido. I’ve been weight training for about 18 months and have been eating cleaner, less processed foods in the last year or so. I have lost about 20 pounds and feel good. However, I want to feel GREAT! I have my first HRT consultation today! Can’t wait…
I've had anxiety, sleeplessness, weight gain (muffin top), hot flashes, and I lose words, lack of focus, low or no libido. I went to a women's clinic. I thought that they would know everything about women. I made sure to ask before I went. I was very disappointed. They basically told me at 51 there wasn't much I could do. Im frustrated this is my 3rd doctor.
i was 45 and had all that, and you kind of give up after you are told there's nothing but HRT which did not work for me, I am now 68 and am lucky my husband is still with me. it was two women doctors I saw as well, one was quite old the other about my age
When she said drs were more likely to prescribe women anxiety meds and dismiss them it hit home. 4xs i went to my male dr complaining of heart palpitations, nauseous, diarrhea, insomnia....i had high heart rate and high BP. Every single time he dismissed me as having anxiety. Ended up in the ER in a thyroid storm. Had graves disease and was severely hyperthyroid. I could have died due to the way doctors dismiss women as being hysterical. He continually said, "you're a busy mom and working a lot. I think you're stressed." This happens way too frequently
I am so glad she mentioned the proteins so often! It’s soooo important! All those vegans out there will crash and collaps the healthsystems everywhere in 20-30 years… I feel so much better since I started eating more meat, eggs and fish and lesser grains and modernised vegetables. I prever the good old vegetables much more like onions, carrots, sellery, pumpkin, beans, peas and cabbage. I can literally feel the difference in my body! Of course sometimes I eat broccoli, red peppers and other fancy veggies. But most days I avoid those and some days I do paleo. And lots of fresh/frozen/dried herbs and spices! Never never never save money on herbs and spices!!! I am 47 and my cycle runs still like a clockwork.
I had a male doctor literally tell me that I was feigning the pain when I asked for pain medicine in the ED. I could have choked him. I told him to get out of my room and he complied. Female nurse comes in. I ask her for pain meds and she gave it to me. Turns out I had a gall stone that got stuck and had to have emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. Female physicians only for me.

HRT helps immensely with joints, inflammation and bone density

I'm sorry that you were dismissed like that, and I'm glad you managed to get proper care!
That's rude. I have recently realized you must advocate for yourself and do your own research.
You are not alone. Menopause & Autoimmune person here who have been told it was mental illness & given those pills instead of checked for menopause & autoimmune. Yes we have to advocate for ourselves.
I have the same problem. I have hashimotos and fibroids and gallbladder problems
I have cut out wheat and a lot of things, I need to cut out ALL grains.
I’ve have friends who have tried that, they knew what was wrong through research but when they presented it to Drs they got very Irritated and quite arrogant. Started treated them differently.
I am getting my nurse coaching license and I will be certified in perimenopause and menopause health. I really am so excited to learn this!
Never heard this.. tell more
I'm 44 years old and started to have all the symptoms of perimenopause.
@Ash-gc6kj can you share your top 5 UA-cam sources on this subject that will help me in my journey.
Check Lara Briden as well! She is amazing just like this woman ! Only us women to help each other in this world
I am so glad that I listened to this podcast. I have a stiff shoulder for no reason, hip pain, brain fog, dry skin, itching ears, pain in the joints, pee 100x a day. I never knew any of that was from menopause.
Same!
Me too! Although I have fixed the frozen shoulder(s) with mobility exercises.
I hear you. Same
All same here🥵 Absolute madness🙏
still physiotherapy is very helpful too
Before I found Dr.
Did you do hormone replacement therapy? Or no everything natural?

I hope that someday the medical profession will graduate from mysogeny to actually listening to and acknowledging women. Thank you Dr. Claire!
Heart palpitations, frozen shoulder, bladder pain and frequency, etc…. I was given no answers for years. This conversation is so important! Thank you!
Same here. Kardiolog, psychistrist, they never consider that I am 47 and hormones are devreasing abruptly.
I had palpitations and a frozen shoulder also. Doctor did an ECG and told me I just need to relax as nothing is wrong.
Wow that's malpractice! So sorry to hear.
Tell your man to learn self control.
HRT has side effects on your health!
Why is it just about your relationship? Even if I were single, I’d yearn to have intense orgasms again. Why do it for someone else?
Same story here
This came at a perfect time as I've been telling my Dr last couple visits that I've been feeling "off" and all my symptoms. I'm 43yrs old, I know my body is changing
Tighten ur seatbelt girl😣
Looking back I started having symptoms during the pandemic! And I was just in my late 30s !
Yup, that’s the only way I could describe it to my husband, just feeling off. I’m so much better now on HRT.
Exactly
I just learned about vitamin D via a video on UA-cam
I asked mom about her menopause when she it (she's almost 88) she doesn't remember but I know it was when I was in high school. She had a hysterectomy when she was 38. I'm almost 52 and haven't had one yet. Still perimenopause which I hit about 43 or so
Which Vit D are you taking?
I was IMPRISONED due to peri menopause!!! I was suddenly sucidal, off-the-scale anxiety. I suffered in prison and in silence
Help is available
🍀💪🍀💪🍀💪🍀💪🍀💪
.... I am an English teacher in Germany and i struggled with finding the right English words so much .... after only a few weeks of HRT my sleep and metabolism and brain improved so much!
Good luck to you 🍀🍀🍀💪💪💪
Hmmmm, I had all those symptoms but never took HRT. I do take fish oil, magnesium, vitamin d/k2 and a good B complex - a game changer.
Haver, I've just started HRT - I hope it will help me!🙏🙏
Please let me know how you do with HRT. I am also 55 and in so much pain.
The day I started HRT, I literally felt my sore shoulder and tension melt away. I felt happy too. It’s a work in progress but it’s so much better.
It's not for everyone but my mom said she never felt better than when she was on HRT. She said it made her feel alive
1:20:30 Weighted vest for menopausal bone loss and creatine 5g per day to maintain muscle mass. Gabrielle Lyon DO says 10g per day for 🧠 brain.
For the past 3-4 years I have been sleeping with headphones in my ears all night, playing white noise. I don't know if it's healthy for the brain or ears, but because the slightest sound wakes me up it helps tremendously with my sleep. I have high quality 8-hour sleep almost every night.
Me too I play sermons. Best steeping aide I have found yet!
I need to try this because many nights I barely get in 5 hours and it’s not continuous either!
Stress can cause early menopause?
Thank YOU my homie for watching and being a part of this discussion!! It’s so needed!
Omg this is so great I’m 53 and I needed to hear what Mary Haver explained to us women 🙏✨ thank you Lisa fantastic interview
And people wonder why there is so much depression and suicide. There is SO much to change in this world. SO MUCH!
Right! Being ignored is awesome!
I had a period where I definitely thought about it.
So very much
Genuinely a fantastic use of 1 hour and 37 minutes watching this video. Thank you ☺️
Thank you so much Dr.
I tooooottaaally understand I feel
Exactly like that tooo !!!!
Happened to me
This week!
Insane!!
I just went through the same scenario as you:)… it’s not in the head…it’s hormones hormones .. we got to find this Dr.
It is very angering when you go to any kind of doctor, be it your child doctor, or any kind, and you tell the symptomps, you clearly see the signs of the disease, and the doctor try to minimize it or tries to explaining away it, because they doesn't care and they doesn't have the energy to deal with it.
Maybe they need hormones.
They gaslight you
I went to my provider because I was gaining weight during menopause. He responded that "maybe you're drinking one too many sodas". I looked at him and I just said for your information I don't even drink soda ever!! I only drink water. I basically had a fight with him to get put on hormones because he didn't want to put me on them.
Very FRUSTRATING...smh😔
@sxektn all medicine have side effects. Balance your hormones through food not medicine
Omg!! I’m going to be 42 this year and I’ve noticed in the past year I need to sleep with two pillows under my knees so I don’t have hip and back pain!! And there’s no reason for the pain but it’s there.
For me what helps is walking, some squats, some pilates, taking magnesium
Same here. My hips started hurting about 4 years ago especially in bed when I tried to sleep, now I am 43. Get down to the gym, do some weight training, it helped me. It is better now, but I have other problems... it is never ending!
Very intelligent conversation, thank you so much for making the internet healthier 🙌
I LOVE Dr Mary!!! She has saved the quality of my life! Ty Lisa for getting this vital information out! ❤🙏😘
The chronic stress, I’m sure is what triggered it for me
20 years?!?
@@deb.m.7458 Thank you for the feedback! Ive scheduled an appt for bloodwork in 2 wks. Starting the process. I appreciate you.
Finally a Doctor who understands that were not just overheard crying and whining these are real things real symptoms
I wish I knew all this before now but better late than never
What patch? Is it a medication?
I find young Dr's are the key these days, they are trained differently
Some are just plain stupid. I had extreme, recurrent vertigo (BPPV) issues (caused by loose crystals in ear). My nose, ear, throat specialist said it could be due to perimenopause. When I told my gp I needed my hormones checked he said he didn't believe it was even possible. Proving his point :"Then how come men also get BPPV huh?" My jaw was in the floor, I literally didn't know how to respond to such stupidity from an 'educated' md. Needles to say, he's no longer my gp. Still can't believe it.
WoW!!!
I had absolutely no care whatsoever during those "hellish" years... quite to the contrary. My heart prayers and deepest compassion goes out to you. Empathy is the missing key component. Once compassion is kicked to the curb, next on the cutting room floor is our conscience. {Am I the only one who sees the word 'men' or 'man' in too many words??}🙄
My situation was similar and most of my relatives and acquaintances treated me like I had the plague. (Long story short).
@@ShamieShaw It's awful - we need serious support groups! I'm more than ready after hearing the "WW" (whining women) thing!! WHY NOT "WSW" WOMEN SUPPORTING WOMEN OR "WTW" WE THE WOMEN - if not WE THE WOMEN then who?
Hey, I hope you’re able to find something that helps! Sending healing hugs!🤗
💪💕🙏
Best wishes to you from Germany 🇩🇪
Wishing you well :*)
Best wishes!
I heard that having a hysterectomy puts you into Menopause 4 years early than the average...
I wouldn’t take all of it that seriously, she said if you had a tubal ligation you go into menopause earlier. I had my tubes tied after my second son when I was 32. I am now 53 going on 54 and I still have my period
We need more of this woman Dr Mary 🙏❤
Such a good, informative podcast! All women need to know this!!
Look at your mthfr status. Specific types of B vitamins, magnesium, vit d and omega3 made a world of difference. If that doesn't help look at hrt.
Go on HRT it will get better within a few weeks
HRT saved my life. Progesterone will fix most of your symptoms in the first week or two.
Just started hrt. Doc said I was depleted of hormones. She said it could take at 3 months before it really helps me.
Same here and bloating with nearly all food
There needs to be so much more information out here to save lives
How many die because of this?
You're a warrior 💪🏼. Never, ever forget that. Next time the thought of ending this life crosses your thoughts, simply remind yourself that you will have to experience these similar, if not same, exact events. You can't cheat in the Game of Life.

I could not walk due to arches so painful. Took HRT and it was resolved.
Wow, good to know
Me too! joint pain is a common symptom of menopause.
Omg I can't walk when first get up so painful in my heels wonder if this similar
Oh please..I can guaranteed you you do not look anywhere near your 30s 40s or 50s.. you are deluded
It’s more validation for the argument that, there ARE two genders and a man cannot truly become a woman
Women’s health is not and has never been a priority. On another note: Pilates has helped me get my midsection under control.
I am so sorry you have been through all of that! Sending you Light, Love and Healing!
I am sorry you were ignored by doctors. I hope you are better now.
To say you've been let down is an understatement. I'm sorry and wish you ever improving health.
Too much cortisol with all that exercise
@@tealeh2 agreed, it's probably doing more harm than good, sadly.
Yes mines does to I could not get a grasp on why my tummy was doing this with anything that I was eaten omg!
Dr. Haver is such a blessing!!! Ladies you better stand up and vote for leaders that care about our WW healthcare.
Who do you think that is?
Before bio ID HRT while on traditional HRT …. Horrible vasomotor; sweated myself down to 103lb. Lost my brain. Thank you for your contributions to the awakening.
I sweated pounds off too and no one cares
What was the treatment for the Lyme?
But aren’t all those symptoms from menopause too? I have all you suggested plus weight gain.
So you had Lyme disease? Like what you get from a deer tick?
I love this woman! Her mindset of "this is what we know - let's expand that knowledge" is so refreshing! They should add a section to the MCAT that catches people who can't qualify a yes or no with "as far as we know now"
I sleep best when my bedroom feels like a freezer. 😆
😂😂😂
Me to sister
Me too!
I found B12 was a big thing for me with brain fog and random exhaustion . 1000 mg on day one I was so clear in the mind.!
Wake up!!
I absolutely love your program
I have learned so much from your show
I’m 62 and women at my age were raised never to talk about such things
And when I did, I was told that I just have to get used to it because it’s part of life
I can’t Thank you enough for bringing this issue to light!!
(I do use vaginal oestrogen, which works a treat!)
Btw the changes in cholesterol can be somewhat mitigated by changing diet and lifestyle, thereby reducing inflammation.
@alice, what does 6 stone and 2stone mean?
@@michelled6957 1 stone = 14lbs or around 6.3kg
Do what works for you. Every case is different.
So good. That’s why I love Mary! Straight forward, clear and willing to be vulnerable about her story in order to make change ❤
She touched on her hip pain - I’m 39 and my hips have started hurting so much in the last year. Dr dismissed it, of course😢
Go to a physiotherapist and get them to assess you and give you exercises , this has sorted my hips out..
Thank you so much! This gave me such peace of mind as I go through this transition. 💜
I absolutely agree with you 100%.
My doctor will only put me on hrt low dose for 6 months. What happens to my body after that. How do I advocate for a more permanent solution
Hormone replacement
Absolutely love your comment. I'm all in for a Women Supporting Women in Menopause support group. It's definitely needed because we are not receiving the best care from some (PC) ( GP) or ( OBGYN) because they lack knowledge of how to address women suffering with menopausal symptoms.
Women will never support women. I associate and friend men. Learned this young.
I just love this video because I went through all of this about 5 years ago. It’s good to hear other women talking about this.
I found Dr. Haver a few months ago and watched all her videos and did a bunch of research. I went to my OB and I felt good knowing about HRT and asked her to order estrogen patch and progesterone pills. What a game changer.
Thank you!!!
This is so informative,wow!
I'm working on it😅
The real reason I'm commenting, which is something I never do, is to let you know how adorable you are ... those expressions! 😅
No wonderTom loves you so much!❤
Thanks again Lisa
I didn't have "hot flashes" - I called them "heat seizures"🔥
Haha
My GYN prescribed low-dose estrogen patches (applied to buttock) & replaced every 7days. Boy, did they help me out at age 51 when I started “my journey” into Menopause.
@@margiestephens7281 Great to know that info - 15/20 years ago there seemed to be very little help with menopause. Still, too many women suffer from awful symptoms for protracted periods of time. I think we've started a support group.🌷
I get hot feet. 😂
hahahahaha. This is so good.
Just love hearing Dr Mary…very educational ladies ..listening to what have been shared..by both of you…it helped me.🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 a lot
I’m 45 almost and I’m not in menopause but I’m trying to educate myself more and more. My mom started menopause late, I figured I would as well.
Can u try a functional dr?
When she said drs were more likely to prescribe women anxiety meds and dismiss them it hit home. 4xs i went to my male dr complaining of heart palpitations, nauseous, diarrhea, insomnia....i had high heart rate and high BP. Every single time he dismissed me as having anxiety. Ended up in the ER in a thyroid storm. Had graves disease and was severely hyperthyroid. I could have died due to the way doctors dismiss women as being hysterical. He continually said, "you're a busy mom and working a lot. I think you're stressed." This happens way too frequently
Treating women like they are ‘crazy’ or ‘hysterical’ is one of the tactics of batterers
I am so glad she mentioned the proteins so often! It’s soooo important! All those vegans out there will crash and collaps the healthsystems everywhere in 20-30 years…
I feel so much better since I started eating more meat, eggs and fish and lesser grains and modernised vegetables.
Me too, I’m 49. Never had kids but was pregnant 3 times.
This podcast needs to be listened to by all ladies! We are not taught any of this 💕
I had a male doctor literally tell me that I was feigning the pain when I asked for pain medicine in the ED. I could have choked him. I told him to get out of my room and he complied. Female nurse comes in. I ask her for pain meds and she gave it to me. Turns out I had a gall stone that got stuck and had to have emergency surgery to remove my gallbladder. Female physicians only for me.
Omg that's disgraceful 😞 gallstone pain is the WORST, lucky you have the chutzpah to do that, some women wouldn't dare 😭
Did you showed him how mediocre was his diagnosis with your actual diagnosis?
“ I could have choked him “ 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I may have to copy you someday. You rock!
Horrible man! Glad you got the help you needed.
