Rex is my favorite clone but I always respected Cody for his rank and cuz he was a hardcore badass, I know that there where a lot of marshal commanders but I kinda always viewed Cody as the like I guess “ supreme clone commander” also was there a chain of command among clone marshal commanders or were they all the same rank.
I think, based on what was said in this video, Cody had more authority over the Marshal Commanders on the Third Systems Army because he is Obi-Wan's Second in Command and Obi-Wan commands that, so maybe the marshal commanders of the Jedi that command System Armies have more authority ?
@@anacpereira5 If Cody was in charge of one system army, others were probably equal bcs they were in command of one as well. @@iverntheboneless9583 According to the wikia there's only 10 systems armies, which means only 10 Marshal Commanders were in command of a System Army, so it's safe to assume Cody would be equal to those. But I'd guess the marshal commander under Yoda or something, would technically rank higher than Cody or any other Marshal Commander
@@anacpereira5 Im not sure but I think every Marshall would have system army. Like you know, no marshal commanders below the system, a commander for core but not marshall commander. Yoda stuff migh be true. Anyway I want to see Cody and hes fate!
A Marshal Commander would only have greater authority over other Marshal Commanders if they were a clone liaison like Cody, or they were appointed to a position higher than Marshal Commander. If there's three Marshal Commanders in a strike force, the one who's taking command of the operation will be the individual with the most authority over the others due to appointment, the others will simply act as vice-commanders, if anything.
I always thought they made Cody, and to a certain extent Obi Wan, a bit too by the book in The Clone Wars. Obviously it makes perfect sense to have Rex be the one who is a bit lax with the rules, as it was possible for him to go against order 66 later down the line and Cody follows it, but in Revenge of the Sith Obi Wan and Cody literally joke about destroying droids for fun and being too slow. Maybe just me but sometimes they seemed a bit robotic in TCW compared to the enthusiastic versions in ROTS
I think you're onto something. Clone Wars tried to separate Obi-Wan and Anakin, and likewise Cody from Rex, by making them more opposite from each other. I think the showrunners really wanted to put Anakin, Ahsoka, and Rex's recklessness and chaotic strategies on a pedestal since they were the main characters of the show, and by default everyone else not following along with that were used as comedic foils. It's ironic to me that Cody is described as "by the book" and Pong Krell later describes himself as "by the book" as well ---- basically equivocating that following the rules of engagement, not having plot armor, and choosing to play a more patient type of warfare is bad. :( At least in the EU, Cody helped teach (deprogram) clone troopers on how to identify their strengths and personality (including using names) from early in the war --- no small feat when having an overt identity and name were considered 'deviant' before the war. It's also ironic that, in my honest opinion, Rex grows out of that kind of arrogant, "fly by the seat of my pants," "shoot first, think later" personality as the war goes on and becomes more like Cody over time. It's like the burden of those that died during missions, regardless of if he'd made the plan or not, caught up to him. The scene where he talks to Ahsoka about his feelings about the war and tells Cody he feels guilty about/misses Fives, Hardcase, Echo, and the others show a vulnerability and introspection I don't younger Rex would have been able to display or know.
I still love that Cody's armour was equipped with more non-standard equipment at once than nearly any other clone commander, and it meshes perfectly with his approach by giving him so much more tactical flexibility. And of course we can't forget he was an avid close quarters fighter. Rex may be more of a shock trooper, but it was Cody who beat Slick hand-to-hand.
This is why I believe Cody was directly involved in making stormtrooper armour, because many features he had that was non standard were present in stormtrooper armour. Stormtrooper provided better head protection, clearly Cody wanted that with that top extra padding and the vizor protection. It also had better comms, another thing cody wanted that with that antenna of his. He had been tricked by commando infiltrators, so he was likely responsible for the (seeming) facial recognition in stormtrooper armour needed to activate HUD and comms, because, as we see, Luke can't see through his helmet well, and his helmet's comms didn't work either, which an officer did notice as we see in ANH
I think 212th could beat the 501st only because Cody is a tactical genius, while Rex is more like Anakin, less by the books and using more surprise tactics.
Most people have a favorite clone, because of his unique personality or something interesting he did. Cody is my favorite clone, because… well, my favorite color as a kid was orange…
this breakdown gave me an idea, that disney should produce a series dedicated to the clone army alone, their battles on the different planets, full on life action coverage of the war following the important characters such as cody, rex etc. with minimal music and cutting, just pure raw war action.
Okay, Cody was my most favorite star wars character in the world, Much like Ahsoka, He was doing his job to help obi-wan against General Grievous, He also was By-the-book Like Prowl from Transformers, So he possible will become Star Wars Heroes If He remove his inhibitor chip in The Bad Batch season 2. Boba Fett, Cody and Omega was born just before Rex, bad batch and all clone troopers, Cody and Omega was acting like twins, but Cody will become highest rank commander until he remove his inhibitor chip. What could happened his highest rank commander If he remove his chip?
Cody will likely remain highly decorated, as will his legion. If he does accidentally get drawn in to a plot or has a connection, I am really really hoping they do a Rommel-esque sitch where he and the 212th do great things for people in the Empire and stop maybe crime and corruption (like how rommel was celebrated by some Egyptians for fighting the colonial british and freeing them despite the 3rd Reich doing horrible things to non-aryan people). However, like Rommel, Cody has people he knows who wish to do treasonous things, and he is close enough to them that he would be approached to help them and he could be connected. He would decline because he values the law and wouldn't betray his ideals. The identities of some of these attackers would be discovered and it would be discovered by the ISB and or Naval Intelligence and high command that Cody had been approached by them. At this point, Cody would be in and out of illness (maybe due to the advanced ageing taking its toll)while also rising in military rank and being given a crucial operation. He has an operation to deal with with this illness and is given a few weeks off as recovery. The ISB/Naval Intelligence uses this time where the military is unable to protect him from their accusations, and issues him with the choice Rommel had to make, take poison and die with his reputation and position intact, be buried with full military honours and with the assurance of his families' safety (in Cody's case this could be Boil and perhaps several non-clone subordinates who are also good people who he values) or charged with high treason publicly, have a set trial and be executed a traitor with the safety of the valued people not being assured. I think Cody would do what Rommel did and take the poison option.
One of my favorite clone commanders i hope to see him in the upcoming kenobi series. Cody was going to appear in star wars: rebels but the idea was scrapped.
Not really, he did show a bit of independent thinking during the 2nd battle of geonosis, i honestly kinda disagree that he was mindless clone trooper that followed every order and that his relationship with Rex and kenobi was completely professional because while more obedient than other clones he wasn’t mindless.
Cody's official role in the hierarchy was as Marshal Commander of the 7th Sky Corps. He had no formal authority over the Third Army as a whole, since the relationship between Jedi and clone liaisons was informal and carried no official meaning, but Cody did function as 2nd for the whole Third Army in practice due to his relationship with Kenobi.
@@geetslys Similar to Rex in that regard, isn't he? Rex was only captain of Torrent Company and even if he wasn't, he was still outranked by Ahsoka, but he was always 2nd in command thanks to anakin.

Cody, while not being default by any means, was possibly one of the most perfect clone commanders you could ever find. Bacara was good, but was extremely cold and ruthless and cared more about a mission than his own men. Rex was an excellent leader, but his independence and taking a lot of decision making skills form Anakin led to him being more like his general. Cody was a mixture. He took Kenobi’s style of a “Stop and think” procedure while managing an entire corps, was a strategic mastermind, and could turn a battle around in minutes like Geonosis and it would not surprise me if he planned the landings on Umbara.
The Umbara landings weren't well planned out at all, it was very rushed and bloody, so I hope not. Considering that the Republic had such massive air superiority and had an army big enough to take several star systems against a mere 10,000 enemy troops, especially since they had extra fighter support and more troops with the Uta and Pauan soldiers

I love how Cody went from a small one time appearance in the 2003 clone wars to becoming one of if not the most famous clone (damn 2003 clone wars is underrated tho)
Great video but did you mean to name the video 'Cody was cooler than ..' not that Cody couldn't be cold but that doesn't seem to be the thesis of the video. It focuses more on his preferences for the slow and steady approach in order to preserve lives. So yeah not that Cody couldn't be cold but that doesn't seem to be what the video suggests unlike the similar Kenobi video. Either way, very informative and interesting. Cody is my second favourite clone after Fives. ... competency is attractive, what can I say? 😊
Could you maybe do the small general (non jedi) that went on a mission with those droids, in which they got stuck on that desertish planet. Idk if he is anything interesting tbh but I know very little about him. Otherwise maybe jedi general peel?
Even though it would've been demonstrably out-of-canon, I wish we could've seen a badass Arbiter/Shipmaster style scene between a clone commander/clone captain and a jedi where the clone was just like "You are a Jedi, the Guardians of The Republic. But these are my brothers, their lives matter to me. Yours does not." and the jedi just be like "That makes two of us."
A tactical assessment on Commander Doom is basically impossible man, since he has only appeared once ever. Even in the Son of Dathomir comic series, which was originally a clone wars season 7 arc, where the surviving sister is present, Doom and his unit is nowhere to be seen
We definitely need more of Kenobi, rebels and other shows did so much to give us complete stories of cw characters like rex maul ahsoka, Cody's life is basically empty we definitely need his empire life and a possible death/regret scene with rex
The Republic definitely did a good job assigning clone liaisons and commanders to Jedi that suited their tactic style. Great examples being Bacara, who was no nonsense and ruthless paired with Ki Adi Mundi who was cold and calculating. Vice versa Rex had a very unorthodox and creative mind, which paired perfectly with Anakin and Ahsoka. Then in the middle you had Kenobi and Cody, who were very pragmatic and avoided elaborate strategies but were willing to employ flexibility when needed, but not to the same degree of Anakin and Rex.
Cody and Rex felt like they were 2 sides of the same coin, Rex being more influenced by Skywalker and thus more "wild and innovative", compared to Cody, who felt like he was more "effectiveness by the book".
Cody was always my favorite, perhaps at first because when I was young I had him as an action figure, but now because he’s the ideal image of a frontline officer. Most in his position would choose to lead from relative safety, either aboard a starship or within some bunker away from the battle. Cody has always been at the front of every fight, leading through example like Kenobi. He’s even completed some smaller scale missions on his own with a small group of troopers and support.
I agree, I love that about him too. I think it's why his strategies only improved over time because he was literally on the frontlines with his men, seeing what worked and what didn't. And not in a micromanagey way either. I feel like he was the type of leader to not ask his men to do anything he himself would be unable/unwilling to do. A very "Then I'll do it myself." type servant leader (quote from Chernobyl show).
I even remember on his action figure that he ALWAYS has a jet pack. Yet we saw none of that in the show🤦🏿♂️ the only jet pack Cody we see really is the OG 2003 show
I hope Filoni makes a show where you get a clone commander narrating their units bloodiest battles and each episode we would get a new clone commmander narrating the battle while it happened on screen they could also do crossovers between the commanders and cameos with other named characters. I think they could also give us a backstory on Gregor and his battle before he lost his squad. They could also do more stuff with delta squad since just about everybody loves them. Or I would like to see a show called the making of an arc trooper where they would show the training and what it takes to become and arc trooper

His strategy always seems to be "Smarter not Harder" an use either the tactics an troops most suited to the given enemy an situations OR make the best use of that he has an always be flexible as he needed till better options an help arrived. Probably why he managed to not die despite being probably in any number of terrible battles an situations where he should've and most anyone else might or would've even had they been very powerful Jedi
Cody and the 7th sky corps should have had an arc of their own. Multiple episodes about the battle of Sarrish, like the 501st got with the Umbara-arc.
Honestly it would’ve help build the clones
Thing is every episode usually had a lesson or underlying purpose to what happens
A lesson to teach
Not just big battles and character building
Also I feel as though the clones had already gotten their moment to shine in the umbara arc for the most part and also just having a random massive battle be the focus of the show would detract from the moral of the story
Probably the highest Marshall commander would be the one from the most important system army. However we do not know if there was one, armies had different goals and equipment I guess.
@@iverntheboneless9583 According to the wikia there's only 10 systems armies, which means only 10 Marshal Commanders were in command of a System Army, so it's safe to assume Cody would be equal to those. What I meant in my comment though was that Cody probably was above in the chain of command due to being Obi-Wan's 2nd in command comparing to another Marshal Commander that was commanding a Corps/Sector Army inside of the Third Systems Army.
Really? I would’ve thought his causal destruction of innocent battle droids would’ve illustrated this point perfectly
Lotta meatbags out there are droid racists, tragically enough, so we've gotta make the point another way
@@geetslys I think the clankas are cute
By 'surprise tactics' you mean war crimes 😁
Most people have a favorite clone, because of his unique personality or something interesting he did. Cody is my favorite clone, because… well, my favorite color as a kid was orange…
One of his first thoughts after receiving order 66 was along the lines of wishing he had gotten the order before giving Kenobi his light saber back
this breakdown gave me an idea, that disney should produce a series dedicated to the clone army alone, their battles on the different planets, full on life action coverage of the war following the important characters such as cody, rex etc. with minimal music and cutting, just pure raw war action.
Him and Rex legit carried
Brothers for sure
Tbh, the entire 501st and the 212th seemed like they were carrying the GAR for most of the war
1:40 Cody had to keep up with The Negotiator after all.
The perfect clone to lead the 212th
One of my favorite clone commanders i hope to see him in the upcoming kenobi series.
Cody was going to appear in star wars: rebels but the idea was scrapped.
Cody is more by the book guy then anything else.
Just like Prowl from Transformers?
Not really, he did show a bit of independent thinking during the 2nd battle of geonosis, i honestly kinda disagree that he was mindless clone trooper that followed every order and that his relationship with Rex and kenobi was completely professional because while more obedient than other clones he wasn’t mindless.
"Cody favored convectional tactics" The droids that Cody has punched and kicked would like a word....
1:34 I don't think you know what "de facto" means, since Cody was literally second in command
@@geetslys Can you do a video on Fordo?
@@geetslys Similar to Rex in that regard, isn't he? Rex was only captain of Torrent Company and even if he wasn't, he was still outranked by Ahsoka, but he was always 2nd in command thanks to anakin.
Cody and Fives are my favorite clones
Best clone ever and my favorite clone of all time 🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
Cody is one of the best clones ever!
Excuse me, sir, Cody is COOLER than Rex, and an OG
Holy Sith, I friggin love you, you beautiful Aussie loremasters😍
Would love to hear an assessment of Gree, Ponds or Appo.
Cody, originally known as CC-2224....
WHERE IS 224?!
Well, he did get Obi-Wan shot down.
True, but it wasn't his fault, he just made mistake for use hologram and he thought he contect to rex, I sure he already remove his inhibitor chip. I believe Howzer and Cody are best friends since cadets in Kamino training.
All the more reason Cody is my favourite Commander. You won't find a more reliable 2nd in command than our Cody
can you please do a clone dnd alignment chart video?
we need more Commander Cody content, I hope he shows up in the Kenobi Series!
if the show is good and they keep the characters themselves then I'm all for it, but it would hurt if that again isn't the case and so far it seems to be the case.
@@tarektechmarine8209 yeah....
Dang, how many times can you say "conservative" or "conservatively" in one video.
So, can I take shots at the words "conservative" and "conservatively" here?
At least we're not talking about political and social conservatism. Might end up a trainwreck discussing that.
You could, just make sure you're at home or have a designated driver :p
@@geetslys Oh, don't worry, I'll use cranberry juice. Has a bittersweet aftertaste without the disadvantages of alcohol. If not that, then water or apple juice should suffice.
Cody has been my favorite clone ever since I first saw him
Cody, while not being default by any means, was possibly one of the most perfect clone commanders you could ever find.
@@tk-6967 And now I request thee to make a lore channel. Now
I feel like if every Clone captain and commander had to work together, Cody would be the de-facto leader.
I would love one of these on Commander Wolffe and Bacara
He was also leader of squad 7 a elite ARC trooper squad.
Gree or baccara pls!
We are right on schedule *yeeets off like a boss*
HOLY SHIT! THATS A COOL THUMBNAIL! Do you have a copy without the text?
You should do a video on Kalani the tactical droid.
6:30 One of the best moments of my childhood... thank you for reminding me. 🥰
0:00: And Alpha-17, Commander Faie, and Commander Bly back in the CW Multimedia Project in the days gone by.
To the team of this channel, please do videos about the Super Tactical Droids like Kraken and Kalani! I know that this channel has covered about the Super Tactical Droids already. But you guys did it as a whole, not individually. So let's see how much different each of them are, shall we?
I love commander Cody. I thought his armor was bad ass and let's not forget he was the only clone I know of to punch general grievous in da face!
Recently bought the collector edition clone gunship big Lego fan about 4,000 pieces
I love how Cody went from a small one time appearance in the 2003 clone wars to becoming one of if not the most famous clone (damn 2003 clone wars is underrated tho)
Great video but did you mean to name the video 'Cody was cooler than
..' not that Cody couldn't be cold but that doesn't seem to be the thesis of the video.
General Kenobi and Commander Cody were besties
Could you maybe do the small general (non jedi) that went on a mission with those droids, in which they got stuck on that desertish planet. Idk if he is anything interesting tbh but I know very little about him. Otherwise maybe jedi general peel?
Grand Marshall of the Grand Marshalls
Even though it would've been demonstrably out-of-canon, I wish we could've seen a badass Arbiter/Shipmaster style scene between a clone commander/clone captain and a jedi where the clone was just like "You are a Jedi, the Guardians of The Republic. But these are my brothers, their lives matter to me. Yours does not." and the jedi just be like "That makes two of us."
This is a joke. You need help.
So Commander Cody's specialty was Blitzkrieg?
these titles and thumbnails keep getting more funny
Do a commander assessment of Tex and Commander Gree or Bly
I always did like Commander Cody, could never quite put my finger on why though...
I love the video but could do a tactical assement on Captain Doom thank you and may the force be with you .
A tactical assessment on Commander Doom is basically impossible man, since he has only appeared once ever. Even in the Son of Dathomir comic series, which was originally a clone wars season 7 arc, where the surviving sister is present, Doom and his unit is nowhere to be seen
Good man that Cody
Blast em!
Cody did his job well... A little too well.
The Senate is a lot cooler than MF's realize.
commander fordo pleaaase
Dunno why but I've always cared about Cody.
We definitely need more of Kenobi, rebels and other shows did so much to give us complete stories of cw characters like rex maul ahsoka, Cody's life is basically empty we definitely need his empire life and a possible death/regret scene with rex
cody wasnt a field marshal
The Republic definitely did a good job assigning clone liaisons and commanders to Jedi that suited their tactic style. Great examples being Bacara, who was no nonsense and ruthless paired with Ki Adi Mundi who was cold and calculating. Vice versa Rex had a very unorthodox and creative mind, which paired perfectly with Anakin and Ahsoka. Then in the middle you had Kenobi and Cody, who were very pragmatic and avoided elaborate strategies but were willing to employ flexibility when needed, but not to the same degree of Anakin and Rex.
I just love the title
Cody, Rex, wolffe, gree and bly will always be my top clones!
For me it'll always be Fordo, Cody, Boss, Sev, Fixer, Scorch, Darman and Nate.
Hm, interesting.
Cody and Rex felt like they were 2 sides of the same coin, Rex being more influenced by Skywalker and thus more "wild and innovative", compared to Cody, who felt like he was more "effectiveness by the book".
He could be written in such a way yes it be a retcon but in such a way where he changes. Because people do change
Just gained more respect
That's weird. Field Marshals outrank Generals. Maybe not in SW I guess.
Field Marshall is such a awesome sounding title
cody and obi-wan suited each other Extremely well, im so glad hes getting more recognition!!! cody is simply That Good tbhhh
Most in his position couldn't lead from safety, and neither could he, that simply was never an option.
I want to see this type of video with other clones like rex, bly and Commander bacara
Cody is my favorite always has been. Now I know so much about him! Thanks for the lore!🙏
I even remember on his action figure that he ALWAYS has a jet pack. Yet we saw none of that in the show🤦🏿♂️ the only jet pack Cody we see really is the OG 2003 show
Cody's strategy can basically be summed up in two points:
1. Keep the brothers alive.
2. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast.
CODY IS THE BEST! Hope we see him in Kenobi series.
Ner cyare Cody...
I love the title lmao
I hope Filoni makes a show where you get a clone commander narrating their units bloodiest battles and each episode we would get a new clone commmander narrating the battle while it happened on screen they could also do crossovers between the commanders and cameos with other named characters. I think they could also give us a backstory on Gregor and his battle before he lost his squad. They could also do more stuff with delta squad since just about everybody loves them. Or I would like to see a show called the making of an arc trooper where they would show the training and what it takes to become and arc trooper
