Let's be honest, the "Perfect $X Watch Collection" is a pretty tired format but, to your credit as presenters, you were able to give us something interesting and entertaining across these two videos. Tom especially keeps finding new ways to elicit an unexpected giggle, like licking a watch dial as a hangover cure.
I agree, but there is only so many content to make about watches when there is little news.
It’s really just about delivering some watch suggestions in a fun format. Teddy has done this at $1000 increments, probably 30 times now. He almost never repeats suggestions
@@arercee5528i think if i got a dollar for every time he's mentioned the prx or the brewmatic, id be able to afford the both
That Longines is simply magnificent.
I love Teddy’s dress watch selection. The ivory dial and the heat blued GMT hand just float my boat. The strap also avoids the Grand Seiko bracelet issues. I also love the aesthetic of the Longines dress watch. The textured grey dial contrasted with the rose gold Breguet style numerals oozes elegance.
You got that right… between the three of you 😂. The perfect “about 10.000 collection” made out of these watches would be: Teddy’s Tudor for the sport, Andrew’s Longines for the dress and Tom’s Anordain as a wildcard. Very very nice combination, indeed.
Shove a 100$ G-shock in there for tough work days and that’s it.
Great conversation! 👍👍👍
That Longines gray dail looks like a Patek
I flipping love that Longines.
Yeah i get the same aesthetic and heritage I like from Patek Philippe Calatrava
Longines dress watch and Oris Diver won me over. Round 2 goes to Andrew.
I knew Teddy would pick the Blackbay!
My dad fixes vintage watches and I grew up with the brand Longines and hope to buy one, one day.
That Formex seems to have some type of quick release bracelet technology in the solid end-links... this is something all bracelets should have in my opinion.
Exactly.
Bravo! Please do a $25k collection with Teddy!
Thank you for pulling this togther, Andrew - you get my vote 🙂
I love that malachite Formex, I came so close to buying one but just couldn't justify spending the money. Nice to see it getting the recognition it deserves.
That Longines was pretty swank.
Tom's choice in the wild card category is indeed wild. Wild that he thinks anyone can get one of these any time soon :)
My production date is 2027…Hope I’ll live to see it.
Teddy consistently picks these same watches. 😂
beatiful collections!
Love that Teddy is rocking the corded EarPods, mad respect. Black Bay 58 also 🔥
30m water resistance doesn’t belong in watches above $100
Teddy is right about the ORIS bezel. Plenty of minutes bezels for anyone who actually dives, I really like the rework to hour here.
The winner is all three! Andrew’s Oris Diver 65 for sport, Tom’s Carrera for dress, and Teddy’s Formex for wildcard.
Outstanding choice with the GS for the dress watch.
Fun video.
Some really nice choices too.
Favourites were the Longines (that watch is beautiful), the Anordain (not the ox blood though I’d go plum) and the quartz GS.
Collaborations are always a treat but perhaps consider a different format to make it more fresh
Everyday: Monta Noble Anthracite Dial - $1,795.00
Sport: Black Bay 54 - $3,900.00
Dress: Cartier Tank Must - $3,450.00
Which leaves me just under $1k to get a few nice leather straps for the Tank.
I like Teddy’s choice for the Grand Seiko GMT for the dress watch. I love dress watches more than sport watches so I would put more money on the dress watch and wild card. My 3 would be:
Sport- Bulova Oceanographer GMT (Black and White Model)
Dress- Steel Baume Mercier Clifton Moonphase or Rose Gold Classima
Wild Card- Louis Erard Regulateur Collab With Artelier Oi
I really enjoyed this collab, I'm glad it finally happened.
Hello…. Mr watchfinder… nice format of this new video…. Im a really Teddys fan…usually his picks wins against the others….. but… today will go for your picks… that longines is a winner. Good night from Mexico…
The Formex looks like the Same ROLEX Color Green .
Mr Morgan, I don’t know whether to thank you or curse you for the watches you share on this channel. Your previous features of the Shorokhoff Neva white dial and the Longines 190th Anniversary Master Collection silver dial hit home with me - to the point that I now enjoy both on my wrist. And now your choices of Oris and Longines again have me thinking about how I’m going to go about seeing them in person. Seriously, to all three of you, thanks so much for bringing the world of watches to my favorite armchair. Cheers.
I like Teddy‘s collection the most, not just in total, but also the individual watches.
My collection:
1) Mixed Collection:
- Dressy: Cartier Santos (if you don’t accept that as dressy: Cartier Tank Must)
-Sporty: Tudor Black Bay GMT Opaline Dial (or Christopher Ward C65 Aquitaine GMT)
- Wild Card: Brew Retrograph Technicolor (no matter which I pick as dressy or sporty)
And because I somehow managed to make a one brand collection I liked:
2) Nomos Collection:
- Sporty: Ahoi Neomatik 38 (Date)
- Dressy: Zürich Weltzeit
- Wildcard: Club Campus 38 (manuell)
I wholeheartedly agree that watch manufacturers underutilize rotating bezels. A sports watch fitted with a plain rotating bezel with just a pip can be used to mark a time either to track elapsed time or as a count down target. Hanhart does this well both with its regular three handers and even some of its chronographs. And a 12-hour bezel allows you to use a simple watch for two time zones, as for example the Maen Hudson MK4, although you have to keep track of the day/night cycle of the second time zone on your own.
I like timex Marlin, very underrated watch that has an overwhelming amount of charisma and character on the wrist.
Formex sounds like a mexican government office
Role-X sounds like a glow in the dark bowling alley.
Everytime Teddy opens his mouth, I Just learn something new and facinating about horology. His wild pick is just stunning from a brand not too talked about, and of course I dont consider it a collection if there is no GS or Seiko given how their watches is punching above their weight. So I go with teddy's collection.
I'm undecided here, great choices feom all of you guys! But for myself I'd go with 1. a Breitling Superocean Heritage 42 in green, 2. a Cartier Tank XL and 3. a golden Casio A100WEG. Well, maybe strech the budget and go for a Hamilton PSR instead of the Casio 😉 Cheers guys, great fun! 👍🧡
Teddy, Teddy, Teddy...great choices ❤ Great video folks much enjoyed.
I love Teddy for putting a Formex into his 3-watch-collection
great wildcard Teddy!
For Tom’s premium Seiko diver, I would have gone for the SJE093
Andrew nailed it! Great collection. Would be happy with one of them.
I was fortunate enough to be bought a beer by Raphael at WindUp watch fair in SF 2023 and I enjoyed it with him. Very nice guy and I actually didn't know who he was other than who I presumed to be their chief engineer as he was explaining the suspension system.
A three way tie! BB is the best sports watch, the Longines is the best dress watch and the Anordain is the best wild card!
I really want to like that Longines but can’t get past the subdial cutting the 7 but not the 5. Seems off center. For a Longines dress, I’d go with the sector dial or the dolce vita also in sector. I do love my legend diver and my next watch will be the 39 Zulu in blue.
Grand Seiko...GS. my initials. Beauty
Hey Ted and watchfinder
10k:
zenith defy , Tudor Pelagus , Hamilton khaki
Teddy's choices were tops, although I'd put the AnOrdain as my odd-ball. Those are solid lineups.
Seiko could probably go thinner with a steel caseback but I guess the choice was made
That's a really cool dial on the Anordain. The Longines is fantastic as well.
On balance though for the entire 3 watch collection, I think I'd have to go with Teddy.
That Longines is FIRE
I love these mash-ups! (was sure Teddy would have picked a GS)
With your comment I thought Teddy did NOT pick a GS (that's what "would have" means, right). But he did.
@@harrislamok
Sport: BB58
Dress: De Ville Prestige
Wildcard: MoonSwatch
What are Seiko thinking never signing crowns. I dont get it. It's so frustrating.
I wish Formex would make that malachite dial in 43mm. 39 is way too small for my 8 inch wrist
Thanks guys... All of these selections are well balanced, offer good value and are really tasteful and well made. My money goes with Teddy though, and as an English man it hurts to say that 😉. However, I already have a BB58, I'm seriously thinking about a SBGM221 and I love the background story to the Formex. Happy New Year everyone, whichever side of the ocean you come from!
Cartier santos, tudor bay, longines moonphase chronograph, some vintage gold omega , gshock
Tom with the best pick. Love anordain
Formex make great watches, it’s great that they get a mention and Longines too.
Rolex Explorer, Seiko 62MAS (or reissue of any of their iconic divers), Tissot PRX
Of course there’s a Grand Seiko in here
Love that master Longines
The best three watch UA-camrs they just missing The mad watch collector in this video
For this one, I like Teddy's choices best. I'm just not sure I'd get to wear the Formex if I was having to reach past the other two on the winder each day.
Grand Seiko for me. 😊
Formex is a very unique company with some very niche market products. In the $2,000 and under categories Seiko Prospex, CW, Citizen and squale offer some great value divers with a lot of resale value which Formex does not have. Formex time pieces are COSC certified but i dont see many dealers AD in my area.
Good video but I think you should do each category in a round robin style to keep the guest in the mix and encourage more discussion of choices between everyone
I hear rumors that the caliber 400 does have some issues with reliability, any feedback on that rumor? I dont think tudor has any reliably issues but you are definitely paying more for the tudor regardless
It's an interesting subject, $10k, one quite fancy watch? Three or four very nice watches? Or a whole lot of choice?
I bought a few cheapie's, Casio's, homages, pushed a bit, bought a Tudor BB heritage.
Then pushed really hard, and bought a Submariner.
And sold everything else cause I never ever wore them!
If I've got $10k I'm buying one nice watch.
Can you compare lange and luc chopard at 30k price range pls
Sinn u50; Grand Sieko SBGA21, Studio Underdog Desert Sky gen 2
You each win one category | abC Abc aBc | Formex, Seiko Diver, Longines Master
Agreed re: the Formex brand name. It sounds like a brand of bathroom sealant
Both Andrew and Teddy showed some great collections that are not flashy collector's perspectives. How about the flashy and showy type personality?
The Sinn u50 is much thinner than the Marinemaster 😂😂😂😂
The Tudor Marketing Team push (and most likely check) is strong with this one!
IMO Tom wins this round. Well done all.
agreed! i love the seiko marinemaster
And that Carrera Date was a nice call as well.
So many great watches! My only complaint is the dress watch category. Men’s fashion has really advanced. We need more than dainty looking watches that can tuck under a cuff on leather straps to fit the dress category.
We don't, really. People know what you mean when you say "dress watch". It doesn't mean you can't wear other types of watches to formal events.
I’ve never heard of siracha polishing 😂
£10K would get you a Senna Carrera from outlet @ £3,900 Omega Seamaster 300 @ £4,000 (hunt around for a post Christmas discount) and a Rolex Oysterdate 6694 or 1500 on a jubilee braclet. This way your getting a diver, dress and chrono.
Omega Seamaster 300 Pro Diver; Seiko Presage; G Shock GMT….and leftover dinner date money. Go!
Formex watches are amazing. Eventually we’ll be comfortable with the name especially with the new, better logo.
That X at the end of their name isn’t gonna help them. They need to change their whole name.
Not me. They sound like a chemical to kill ants
Hey! Merry Christmass for you three! I happen to be in the verge of buying my next piece and thinking of a GS 221 or the sports edition in quartz. Teddy, now I'm sure what to pick. To be honest and due to my sports and tool nature, was doubthing about the 30 m WR but you alone with a friend here in Mexico, have convinced me. Great selections and I may have went with GS 221, Tudor BB54 on strap, and wild card: Tissot T-Sport PRS 516. Season greetings a Happy New Year!
Hi! I absolutely love the design of the Oris Diver Sixty-Five and am a fan of the Caliber 400. However, I'm not as keen on Oris's true diving watches. I'd like to have a watch that can withstand a casual swim or a plunge into the pool, maybe diving up to five meters deep without any worries. Can the Diver Sixty-Five handle this? Thanks a lot for the informative video, it was really fascinating!
I can never love an upside-down 6.
With 100 meters of water resistance you can, well... go up to 100 meters below sea level. Plunge and swim serenely.
I wouldn't go anywhere near 100m deep, swimming and pool depth diving's ok though.@@stupidocanerosa
@@marcusrawlinson5024 So the Oris is the watch for you ,if you like it.
@@Wet_Electronics You do know that is due to the fact the bezel is a simple GMT function that allows you to track a second time zone by simply rotating it, right? It would have no purposes if the "6" was upside-down because turning the bezel it'll appear as a "9"...
I’d go 2 sub $100 watches and one $9k plus….but that’s just me.
My collection isn't 10k. But, I have a Tudor and two Casio watches. At some point, the one might get upgraded, but the G-Shock and A1000 probably aren't going anywhere.
The Marinemaster is a very nice watch, but it isn’t the thinnest diver. There are slimmer divers, including very affordable ones, like the Glycine Combat Sub in its 200 and 300m variants. But it might be the slimmest with a display case-back?! Maybe…
You've got to be kidding right? A 24 hour bezel on a non-GMT dive watch is more useful than a timing bezel? No way. I actually use timing bezels on a regular basis.
My 10k$ collection:
Dress - Longines Conquest Heritage L1.650.4.72.2 - 2725$
Diver - Tudor BB41 m7941a1a0ru-0003 - 4550$
Chrono - Hanhart 417 ES Flyback Reverse Panda 42 - 2750$
"Fighting your way through a restaurant that serves exotic meats." ... Was that a reference to the Tony Jaa film 'Warrior King'?
Sport - Omega Speedmaster (I have a 40$ Casio if water is needed) -5K when I bought it.
Dress - Grand Seiko SBGX263 Quartz - 2,200$
Wildcard - Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue - paid 2900$ on eBay. It’s discontinued.
Total: 10,100$
Just a question, how do you feel about Tudor Heritage Chrono Blue vs Tag Heuer Carrera Skipper? I am having a hard time choosing between the two.
@@jakealexander6046 don’t know as much about the Tag. I got the Tudor way back in 2013 after I completed grad school and was attracted to the way it looked primarily. Today it’s a perfect summer watch.
@@BFit25 No worries :) thank you for taking the time to reply.
Once you hit 10k, you can add a 6600 legend to the collection: hesalite speedy. That leaves 3400 for the dress and the sport watch and you still be spoiled for choice
Tudor BB us a real good deal for a sports / dress watch
Nice
This was fantastic, guys. I’m kinda remiss to compare, but I liked Tom’s selections most because I knew the least about his choices, and therefore learned more. Great series, guys. Wonderful to have what’s his name join you. His depth of knowledge and insight is phenomenal. Is there something Teddy doesn’t know about the world of watches?
I would pick the new Tag Chrono, the longines master Salmon dial, and a Cartier tank must.
Good choices but I would probably change the tank for a santos medium white dial
@@isaacc154 that wouldn’t fit the 10k budget. I do love the medium santos tho (I own it)
@@drkesrf I own the large in ADLC and it would if he replaced the tag for a cheaper chronograph.
I wear a dress watch in all situations. In the water I take my watch off and use a digital timer. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk.
Nice. All I need now is 10k
Sorry Tom, a Christopher Ward Trident Pro 300 is less than 12mm thick making it thinner than the Seiko.
Seriously, once you have reached a certain age „fitware for yoga-moms“ has a pretty positive association to it… 😂
Formex is a top choice
Nothing wrong with casio in a collection. I have Rolex 16710 coke dial, Sinn U1 T-SDR, Bulova Marine star quartz, Omega seamaster quartz, Casio Duro and all my watches gets wrist time.
