Was in Zurich in December. Held on buying a new Tudor until I got to Frankfurt. Switzerland only has a 7% VAT refund compared to Germany which is a 17% refund.

Even when you factor in the 7% VAT refund, you still are paying a lot more than buying here in the U.S. or another EU country. I got a new Tudor BB Panda Chrono in Frankfurt from the Tudor boutique at full retail. After the 17% VAT refund, I paid just under what Jomashop had it listed for. Boutique gives you 5 year warranty. No questions asked. Unlike Jomashop...

Think my favorite might be the Glycine Combat Sub. Looks great on that Bond strap. They actually did sell for over $1k pre Invicta, but now they only sell gray market and thus the lower price. Amazing value and the thinest Swiss diver out there at 10.6mm.
I agree, almost entirely about the patina. I want to build my own patina. That’s why years ago, when looking at the tutor line, I went straight for the 42 mm Pelagos in blue. I wish the manufacturers wouldn’t focus so much on things that don’t age.and let me build a visible relationship with my timepieces

I’m the opposite with regards to the date. I like a dial without it, keeps the symmetry and easier and quicker to change the time. I just look at my phone if I need to know the date. Who doesn’t have a phone on them nowadays and who doesn’t go everywhere without their phone. Just my opinion.
Purists like me, adore 🥰 iconic no-date watches, like the Sub and the Speedmaster. The dial looks 👀much cleaner. May that’s why I love my Tudor FXD/MN21 too.
I had a day/date on my Tissot that I wore to work and it really came in handy. I typically dont like either, but it was very functional at work. Dive watches dont need the day or date in my opinion.
I have 2 Orient Mako 3's. Burnt orange dial and the grey dial. I love them, and like you, can't put my finger on exactly why. I just love the dial, I guess.
Since you're a Vet, do you ever shop the NEX or AAFES on-line? Sometimes they have some great sales and tax free. I just bought a Hamilton Khaki Field Automatic as my first real watch from NEX. Enjoy both of your channels. Keep up the good work!!

Well there’s a good bit of truth there….already between Casio (really good ones) and automatic, mechanical, chronos, field , GMT and dive I’m at 60. Mostly $375 or less as I see what I like but do have 4 fairly for me “expensive” watches. I have started giving the less expensive ones as gifts as I settle on my preferences😊
I know someone who had an issue with the ceramic movement, it died, and they had to deal with the warranty crud. Love tudor but if you're not wearing them and aren't attached to them move them, you won't miss them later

I had a Black Bay 58 Blue - I thought I grew bored of it, traded it in on a Speedmaster 3861 and after about a few months I regretted the whole decision. I ended up selling the Speedmaster so now I have some more decisions to make. I’d keep one Tudor, definitely miss it now that it’s gone. I knew I wasn’t a chronograph guy but the Speedy was the only one I’d thought I’d like since I’d wanted one for years but it was a case of not meeting your heroes.
I completely understand the date function is very important to me, too 😅 I sold my beloved BB58 navy blue just because it does not have a date window. I just wish Tudor would make a date window for it!
I'm with you about the date. It's a must for me. Also, you like a multicolored bezel, so you need to find you a Seiko Pepsi - classic look. The best new model in my opinion is the SNE591. It's quartz but has a sapphire crystal, date, and has great bezel action.
I get it with the Tudors. I have had three Tudors that I've since sold for one reason or another. My ultimate complaint was the thickness of the black bays and Pelagos. However, I picked up the Tudor FXD Marine Nationale and it is my favorite watch in my collection (I used to require dates on all my watches, but since most dates are very difficult to read and impossible to read without taking off my glasses, It has become less important of a factor, than fit, feel, dial legibility, and personal connection). (BTW also a fellow Submariner (Boomer (90-97))
I want the turdor ceramic to go with my pelagos LHD , i only have three mechanical watches and i find setting the dates so annoying so im happy if they dont have a date . Typically I'm not a fan of fake patina but i like just off white markers on black watches .

I always wanted a no date Sub, but had "settled" for a Black Bay Heritage (smiley face), then got divorced and had the opportunity to get a Starbucks sub (IE ceramic, green bezel, black dial, a 126610lv), so I got that and actually mainly found myself choosing it over every other watch I possessed all the time for the glidelock and the date. Now prices have crashed a bit and luckily I shed a lot of my (unworn) collection before they did so I treated myself to that no date Sub, and I love the look but if I look at it one more time to check the date! 😡
I Think the BB54 is the true hommage Vintage Submariner with History, the other Black Bays are nothing half and nothing whole! The Airking i like the most, i owned the same model in white!
I have a box of tudors but they are starting to go stale. The bb58 seems perfectly sized, but the same old colors need an update. The Pelagos 39 could use some colors too. So, I’m with you. Tudors can act like “inventory” because they can easily be replaced… but have enough value to sell 3 and buy a bigger watch. 😊
Own BB58 black dial with gild…Gave me Rolex 6538 vibe worn by Sean Connery in Dr No…it’s a diver no need for a date when you dive, you don’t care about the date under water, plus you carry your phone with you all the time. To me it mess up with the symmetry of the watch…hate those cyclops…Again it mess up the smoothness of the crystal. Personel taste.

Wear that air king with pride. I have a birth year (1978) OP 34 that is going to my daughter and a 78 Datejust going to my son. Yoda was right, size matters not; your father loved you enough to wear it knowing it was to be passed on. Anyone mocking you over watch size is proving why they should not be listened to. Wear that watch in good health and remember him fondly.
I absolutely hate when watches have dates. It is annoying. I can tolerate a 4:30 stealth date, or a date hand that points to the date, but the standard 3 o’clock date Drives me insane. I also love fauxtina. It is so amusing how different all of our preferences are.

Tudor watches are sweet. Rolex quality at a much lower price. Plus they treat our veterans well.
Keep the black Tudor because it’s ceramic and my understanding is that they won’t make many of them and probably not in the future.

That Omega Seamaster “Black on Black” strap is the ONLY way to go if you do black….it looks amazing. Dude…that Air King is the bomb! Small but great.
