Loving this new format of videos, I love the usual content but the back and forth between you two is genuinely funny and so natural; hope you continue to do them!
Ive been following you guys for the last couple of years. This video is by far the funniest (and informative) watch related content I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. The snap pivot back to the Citizen was pure comedy. Keep up the great work.
Citizen is one of the rare fully integrated watch companies. The new 0100 movement is accurate to ±1 second per year! A truly amazing watch company that is miles ahead of any of the other watch brands mentioned in this video.
I bet that Citizen will NEVER offer one of their 8-megahertz quartz movement watches, even a lower-grade one with a reject crystal not good enough for an 0100 and maybe +-5 seconds a year, outside of Japan. I’ve worn a radio-sync Citizen for nearly a decade and I resent their apparent unwillingness to sell their most beautiful and highest-tech watches outside Japan.
I absolutely love the fact that both of you guys are not people who are super spendy with watches, you just like gazing at them. It makes it a lot more relatable than some knob like producer Michael showing you his 12 million dollar watch collection.
in front of his Ferrari lmao Its that lifestyle thing that is so annoying. Its so vapid and lacking in substance. What is especially irritating is how Procuck Micheal constantly talks about how the watch company "listened to him" and made changes to the watch. Like dude, we know that companies offer customization on their watches if you are willing to pay. He acts like he has special access and influence when all he did was pay for a service that is provided to customers regularly.
The tissot prx powermatic is easily one of the best sub 1000 dollar automatic watches you could buy. I think if you wanted a one watch collection for under 1k there you go. Versatile, water resistance for what 99% of people need it to do, good level of finishing/detailing, and comfortable. It’s amazing how much it hands with watches above it’s price point but does have a few short comings of course compared to watches 5x it’s price. For instance the dial does just not look as high def at instant glance like my omega or Rolex.
@@mohamedfarsin7305 the sea star is also very impress for the price and has some cool models available. I believe it even has a hydrogen release value that you don’t see a lot for that price point. For me since I already had other dive watches when it was time for me to buy a tissot I went with the PRX. It is more versatile, you can still take it swimming although no screw down crown, I think it’s a better looking watch, and it’s just fun. You can’t go wrong with either but that’s what I did.
I was with my son buying a new winter coat at the shopping mall and I passed by a watch store selling a bit of everything, they had a waffle dial prx, lady was asking 1200$ CDN, that's like 11 months later. I'll keep buying on the internet 🤠
I have the citizen diver and I love it. The titanium is also less blingy which makes it a bit more understated. Easily my favorite watch purchase on 2021

I unexpectedly found a Tissot boutique on my walk in an unfamiliar place, so I decided to go in and check out the PRX. Yea, I ended up leaving the boutique with the powermatic! Very cool watch and definitely worth it (even if its approx 730 USD here in Japan)

I haven’t even finished the video yet and I’m so thrilled at #1. The Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 was my first “real” watch purchase several weeks ago. I treat it like it’s a Rolex. I stare at it every time I wear it.
Alas, I had the same experience with the PRX as Tom. Those end-links extend the lug-to-lug to about 54mm which is way too big for approximately 85 per cent of the human population.
I love the Furlan Marri, but hate their business model... I mean it is great to build up hype and drive up secondary market prices (currently between 3 to 4 times retail I think). But clearly they do not care about frustrating customers. I also wonder when they are going to run out of sensible dial colours for their "stories". Actually, Powermatic 80 in that awesome Tissot PRX is upgraded and modified ETA 2824-2. It is not based on Swatch System 51. Tissot actually got System 51 in their offering in their Classic, V8 and Everytime collections, and it is called Tissot Swissmatic. Apples and oranges, really, because Powermatic 80 is based on a trusted and tried architecture, it is fully serviceable and is reserved for Swatch Group's mid-to-higher-end offerings. On the other hand, Swissmatic or System 51 is an entry-level movement, it is not serviceable (if it breaks, a movement swap is required) and it is aimed toward young watch lovers as their first mechanical watch. Other than that, great video and channel!
@@TalkingTimepieces it uses some bits, of course, but implemented on ETA 2824-2. Like I said before, System 51 is called Swissmatic by Tissot and it is reserved for the brand's lower end products.
as somebody with skinny wrist problems I have found that while the modern resurgence of the 70's aesthetic would be great if these watch companies didn't go and hit the supersize button when dusting off the old plans since my current watch is a king seiko vanac 5256-6010 and a modern version would be excellent due to it suffering from 70's band quality and design but it would end up being to big for my wrist if a modern version was made.
I was watching another video yesterday where they stated a smaller version of the Tissot PRX showed up on official Tissot websites in Mexico and India recently. The web page showing them was only active for 30-45 minutes before being taken down. I'm also one who likes the PRX but who has small wrists, so I'm anxious to see if this is an actual watch that goes into production.
I owned a Citizen Eco Drive Skyhawk for about 20 years- lost it in a car fire in 2018. They still make that line, but the one I had was a much simpler look than the current Skyhawk line. In the time that I owned it, I don't recall ever having to change the minute hand. It had built-in DST functionality, so in all the time I owned it, I only ever had to switch DST on and off. It was pretty beat up by the time I lost it, but ever since then I haven't had a single watch that I've liked enough to be my only watch. By the way, Seiko also makes a handful of Solar watches.
Funny video guys. Liking this format. With Tom’s mighty wrists and budget in mind: Smiths Everest (can’t have one straight away), Seiko ‘ Dress-K-X’. Laco Augsburg. Studio Underd0g chrono. Baltic MR-01/Bi-Compax. Casio GWM5610 square. Timex Marlin (another excuse to use that voucher code)
Nice video - intriguing content - provocative. That's great! But being (as I am inclined to be) ever attentive to little details, the mic switch on that Shure 55SH is in the 'off' position. Would you please flip the mic switch to the 'on' position? Drives me nuts!! :-)
Casio Oceanus is something worth mentioning in another video for Japanese made. They start in the low to mid range and can get quite pricey, all high end end solar quartz and titanium. Feel like they don't get mentioned enough
New to your chan and watching all the old videos like this and I must say you two are a perfect duo and fun to listen too. Prob the only pod cast style videos I listen too and not skip forward all the time. Love it. Also the Shrek body but with skinny wrists made me laugh and also hit home hard at the same time lol.
Elvis is generally associated with the triangular 'Ventura' Hamilton watch. There are a few micro brands that assemble watches in the US - for example, Vaer have a good value range of quartz, manuals and automatic field watches and dive watches. Not US made, but 'US Assembled'
I’d recommend the citizen nb1050 59, a super good watch especially for the price. You got miyota 9000 mvt, nice design and finally 38mm case with 100wr
I have the last-gen Khaki Field Mechanical (with the date complication) and love it. I've worn it to the field on several occasions and have never felt like it didn't belong. It's tough and totally worth it.
Hi Mikes. Is there a difference between Citizens Eco drive and SEIKOs Solar? Actually they both have replaceable batteries that are charged thru a solar panel.
I’ve never spent over US$300 for a watch. I was given a roughly 1964 Omega Seamaster that had probably never been serviced (about 25 years) that was later stolen. It kept poor time and a watchmaker who cleaned it said that the bearings were worn and it needed more service than I really wanted to pay for then. It’s all been quartz otherwise, usually with radio sync, with a Citizen for nearly the past ten years.
*TISSOT PRX* there is an identical Seiko 5 from the 1970's - I have it - the same bracelet, same case, same sward hands - sunburst dial the only difference.
You can still find the true smaller direct quartz predecessor to the Tissot PRX The Tissot Seastar with an early Quartz movement! I have one and it fits my smaller wrist perfectly!
For a real budget watch, I have a 37mm quartz two-toned blue Invicta watch. It is very accurate. It looks of course like a Rolex Submariner. It has a Seiko movement. It cost $49.00. It is very nice looking. I actually like it.
The khaki is one of my very favorite watches. It has the most solid crown and feels like you could drop it off the second story and it would be fine. Hope that’s what you got Tom!
Citizens are very well made..mine are all still working..the eco charges with all light my best one is a all black and has little diamonds for the numbers..i got a great deal on it two..i think is was 575.00 for retail but i got a 15% for using my Zales card and ithad a 10 or 15 % so both i ended up paying like 315 ish
Alternative to the Hamilton: the Bulova Hack costs less with very similar looks, and Bulova has an even more distinguished role in American history and culture. I know, I know... the Hamilton is made in Switzerland...
The khaki is one of my very favorite watches. It has the most solid crown and feels like you could drop it off the second story and it would be fine. The timex Q looks like it would not survive the drop, but is a fine choice indeed 😮
The PRX is great, but I prefer the Visodate, and you can possibly still pick up the older pre-powermatic eta version within your budget. Doesn’t have the 70s styling though, it’s a bit older-school. The lugs are a little long but it’s less of an issue than the fully integrated prx.
The answer to this for me is to go on eBay and find a vintage Seiko 6139 or a vintage King Seiko. Prices have gone up lately but I don't think that there is anything that can beat the value proposition of the 6139 in particular.
I bought the exact same watch for my first watch purchase. Great little watch, but i bought 2 watches for my first purchase. I got the Timex Q and a Seiko dresskx for a good deal. The timex for 95 quid, you can't go wrong.
I'd go for the Hamilton. You can get it and it's a great deal. My mum has had a Citizen EcoDrive as a daily driver for the past ten years, but the price I find too steep, even in titanium. The Timex is nice too, but doesn't seem quite as special as the Hamilton.
I wanted to get that Tissot PRX but now I have some doubts about the measurement...got a 16cm wrist aprox...wanted to go with the Quarz one in a blue dial
Eberhard Scafograf 300 is one of the best deals on the market. Can be picked up for 1200 to 1500 usd nowadays , used to retail for almost 4000 usd in 2016.
@@hockingham7160 that's Eberhard for ya , they always over value/price their products in comparison to the market. It was released at the exact same time and almost the same price as the Tudor Pelagos. It got overshadowed by it so now offers amazing value on the secondhand market.

You nailed it.
It's is.
Not more....but maybe less.
That was a fun format.
Brilliant banter between the both of you. This was awesome!
Definitely a fresh air over here, since the last time I enjoyed one of your videos. And I like it!Keep them coming,Andrew!
17:00 what model number is that citizen watch?
I'm a bargain shopper like Tom. I think he will like his Timex Q. I got a falcon eye and M79 Batman and love them both.
You guys crack me up more often in a single podcast than years of stand up, comedy shows, or other podcasts 😂
Is the difference between the Khaki Field & Khaki Aviation that the latter has a a Nivachron antimagnetic balance spring?
Alternative to the Hamilton: the Bulova Hack costs less with very similar looks, and Bulova has an even more distinguished role in American history and culture. I know, I know... the Hamilton is made in Switzerland...
I'm really enjoying these weekly conversations. They're an entertaining tangent to the usual material on this channel.
The khaki is one of my very favorite watches. It has the most solid crown and feels like you could drop it off the second story and it would be fine. The timex Q looks like it would not survive the drop, but is a fine choice indeed 😮
Have a blue variant of that Citizen titanium EcoDrive diver. It's everything you need in a wrist watch.
The PRX is great, but I prefer the Visodate, and you can possibly still pick up the older pre-powermatic eta version within your budget. Doesn’t have the 70s styling though, it’s a bit older-school. The lugs are a little long but it’s less of an issue than the fully integrated prx.
Love this series, great editing as always
The answer to this for me is to go on eBay and find a vintage Seiko 6139 or a vintage King Seiko. Prices have gone up lately but I don't think that there is anything that can beat the value proposition of the 6139 in particular.
I bought the exact same watch for my first watch purchase. Great little watch, but i bought 2 watches for my first purchase. I got the Timex Q and a Seiko dresskx for a good deal. The timex for 95 quid, you can't go wrong.
The Hamilton khaki field mechanical is £298 at Francis & Gaye atm, can't go wrong at that price.
PRX was just bought and love it!!! I really like you guys!
Casio MRW-200H-EV1
Best super affordable watch ever.
LOVED this video, thanks a bunch guys!
What's the name of that citizen snowy watch at 17:00?
He laughed at Blue waffle…what a man of culture.
2:06 That blue waffle dial..... Underrated pun right there.
21:29 what model citizen is that? that looks amazing
I use the bezel on my Tudor BBB to help remind me when to take my meds 🤣. So many practical uses.
And I also consider it my luxury fidget spinner.
I'd go for the Hamilton. You can get it and it's a great deal. My mum has had a Citizen EcoDrive as a daily driver for the past ten years, but the price I find too steep, even in titanium. The Timex is nice too, but doesn't seem quite as special as the Hamilton.
Please, please, please make a podcast. This is the kind of banter I need in my life.
I wanted to get that Tissot PRX but now I have some doubts about the measurement...got a 16cm wrist aprox...wanted to go with the Quarz one in a blue dial
Does anyone know what model the Citizen knock off of the Grand Seiko is?
It´s gorgeous. After some intensive googeling, it´s AQ4091-56A
Very good episode.....
After watching almost all of your episodes and having subscribed about 2.5 years ago, I came to know your name ....
The Tissot PRX does not use the System 51 caliber, nor a variation of it. It uses the Powermatic 80, which is based on the ETA 2824-2
Come on ... we know you guys are really rockin' matching white track suits and rainbow rollers. 🔥🔥😳
When it comes to fine imitation watches, gussl delivers. I've bought from them several times, and I've never been let down.
Eberhard Scafograf 300 is one of the best deals on the market. Can be picked up for 1200 to 1500 usd nowadays , used to retail for almost 4000 usd in 2016.
Crazy overpriced in the first place
@@hockingham7160 that's Eberhard for ya , they always over value/price their products in comparison to the market. It was released at the exact same time and almost the same price as the Tudor Pelagos. It got overshadowed by it so now offers amazing value on the secondhand market.
2:10 blue waffle dial lololololol. That kills that option for me now as I can look at a textured blue without seeing that term.
Hoping for more content just like this! Love your channel!
No one mentioned Invicta Pro Diver. A solid NH35a Seiko movement and 200m rating.
The Tissot PRX powermatic is an AP Royal Oak homage.
From the design, the dial and the shape.
Orku5 the PRX,especially the newer 35 mm model is the direct decendent of THE TISSOT Seastar from 1979. The 80s Rolex date just is also identical!the PRX is not an Homage,It's a reissue!
Great format. Got me watching again. More please.
very good recomandations love the video!
Seiko and Casio both have solar quartz. If I wanted a decent Japanese quartz watch, I think I'd to Casio Oceanus...I think they're really attractive!
Yea...Oceanus all the way.
