I was watching this video and started staring into my beard looking for these types of hairs and my wife walked by and paused. She asked if I was ok and I just responded that Dan is concerned about my beard hair and I am doing research to make sure my beard is healthy. She understood and moved on.
The process by which cheap combs are made is called injection molding. The jagged edges in center is where the mold halves join. Lots of stuff made that way cuz you can make it thicker quicker and cheaper.
I don't usually check for damage i.e split ends but I will tomorrow. My wife volunteered to help. I have once used the heated brush on the hottest setting and hurt my skin. Only and last time I'll do that. I am guilty of sometimes not drinking enough water but I'm making a conscious change about water intake. I'm not concerned I take really good care of the beard it looks very healthy and I use great products and always have used good combs I'm currently in love with Chicago combs and have 6 of the there combs.
Hello, my name is Matt and I’m an addict. I have a problem Dan. In your opinion how much beard touch is too much in a full day? How much time should one touch their beard a day. I’m trying to grow a long beard and when checking/feeling out split ends? I often get carried away and causing damage to my beard! The saddest part is knowing I play with my beard too much , but it’s just a thing I do without realizing for a minute.. or two. I also would be curious to know how much time you take from start to finish applying product such as, oil and butter? I have bad habits with touching/playing with my beard and I’m curious how much damage I’m really causing. Basically, what I’m trying to figure out is if I spend too much time applying product and feeling for split ends . Sometimes it’s 5 mins on oil but if I’m not in a hurry I find myself working that butter in up to a half an hour on a bad night. My beards like 4 inches give or take. I find myself touching it unintentionally ALL THE TIME! I do not have beard itch Help me out Dan.. I know I have a problem and I need help!
The how much is not likely the problem it's not about how you are touching it. If you are pulling or twisting, then there can be damage. If you are light with it, it's like not a problem. My time for routines, roughly: - morning with oil and heat = 15 min - night with butter = 2-3 min
"Funeral home combs" 😂😂 Yeah my dad who was a funeral director, embalmer and manager of a funeral home back in the '70's '80's used to bring home combs and pens with the name of the funeral home on it. My older brother would make money selling combs and pens in middle and high school! They were brand new in the box. Not used on the deceased.
Hi Dan, sorry to bother you. You mentioned chlorine from the pool. I'm new to the beard world, 57 here and first time trying lol. What should I do after getting out of the pool ? Thank you very much for your help and time.
I have had this happen, I believe one time, on a hair. I saw it and thought woah, what did I do! Luckily that was just one unlucky hair, that probably received damage from my environment at work.
@@DanCBearded I get that! Mine is running my fingers along the hairs and finding split or damage at the base of the hairs. I am not trimming that often right now, so minor damage at the bottom isn't getting cut very often. I remember a video you did about how sensitive our fingers are, and it is insane! I have found damage that I could barely see, but I could feel how the hair was different.
Another great informative video!! I drink more coffee then water in the winter more so at work. If I'm at home on the weeks I drink more water for sure
An advice to drink more water easily is to drink with a straw. I got the plastic one from Starbucks, they are like not even 5$ and it does work very well. I'm drinking water when I comb my hair and it seriously work. Probably cause I pass so much time combing it. Sometimes I'm not sure what is taking more time, a routine for the hair or a routine for the beard 🌹
Yo dan c you'll probably get off this quite a lot I apologise wondering what kind of round hair brush she uses an u would you kindly send me a good link to a good web page that is not going over blow my piggy bank please have looked online myself can't find good one
You never work a day in your life if you love what you do. I genuinely think about this stuff 24/7 and cannot get enough. I love it and I love interacting with amazing friends like you!
What I've noticed with my beard is that, I have about 10 colors of beard hair and it's always the black ones that I find split ends. I'm not understanding that. They are definitely more course. Any thoughts?
Guys with long beards often use bands and beard clips and things. Years ago I noticed that rubber bands are damaging to hairs, and as an alternative there are these smooth silicone hair ribbons that are much safter. Also how damaging is braiding?
Spot on! when braiding is done correctly there is no damage at all. It is only bad when it is too tight or when using harmful things like rubber bands or poor quality clips
Dan I have taken on your 1 gallon a day water regimen and want to see some videos on how long it takes water to boost beard growth and how much more length us bearded fellas can achieve extra this information is very valuable and important to me
This is some great information! Love the “cut it out” 😉😆 I get those hairs from time to time. Hunt those hairs down and “cut them out” It’s all part of the journey 👊🤘
Speak of the devil... I actually found one of these this morning going through a scan for split ends etc. I've only ever found a few during almost 2 years of beard growth. It was reassuring hearing the bearded guru yourself Dan, say you find them occasionally! I drink a lot of water and use proper beard combs for my routine so I'm putting it down to better heat management needed my end. Cheers as always Dan!

thought I was going to learn how to stop my beard from parting in the middle like pig tails, but this is an equally important video, cheers for this!
That’s the French fork video! Haha thank you though buddy!

**Comment of the year**
I've been super lucky, I've never found or seen a split end or anything like that. Good beard routine and routine trims have been key.
That is amazing!

Boom! There it is. Thank you for the great add on Max!
Thanks for the 🔑 lesson 👍🏼 much appreciated have a great day y’all.
Any time!
2:32 I could really use a demo on this. What's the best way to get a downward stroke while combing?
I am at work, but I will have to go back and watch that part later to see what you are referring to

@@DanCBearded See you tonight on beard advice live 👍
Very interesting info, never heard of this.
Thanks for watching!
should i put the beard butter in the beard or on the skin under the beard?
Great question! Butter is primarily for the hair
"Cut it out" Was that referencing Joey Gladstone? Haha, Very informative. Thanks Dan C!
haha yes it was! good catch

Hey Dan Chet does my beard seem more fluffy than straiteining out like urs does
Are you using heat in your morning routine?
Ya I blow dry it and easily brush it downwards
Is so so cool!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks!
Is there a magic number for how much water someone should take in for optimal beard health? I think it’s 8 cups for general health, but beard health?
General rule = half of your body weight, drink that in ounces
@@DanCBearded nice, haven’t heard that before. Makes since though. I’m 200lbs and drink over a gal of water a day. Never have hydration issues.
Wat een geweldige video, hier heb ik zeker wat aan! Thanks from the Netherlands.
Thanks!
Great stuff Dan
Thanks for the visit Ron!
Great info as always
Thank you and thanks for commenting!
Great video✌️

seen a lot of split ends and I am sure that it has to do with lack of hydration

Funeral home comb 😆 rolls off the tongue i like it. Makes sense since your killing your beard with them. Think u just coined a new term bud.
