Dan, that is some great info. I’m at the medium length stage & probably starting here & not going longer. The process I use for my mostly grey, extremely wavy kinky beard is this and seems to work pretty well. Out of the shower and drying about 75%, comb through w/ ox horn comb. Apply oil & comb again w/ ox horn. Wait 5 or so minutes & then blow dry using a round boar’s hair brush. That’s the only thing I’ve found that gives the tension I need to somewhat straight this beast. The after blow dry, I apply balm or butter. Comb through again with the ox horn comb. And finally use the regular boar’s hair brush to style (try and lock down any flyaways). It’s a process that my wife gives me grief over occasionally but all in good fun.
I couldn’t agree more. During the corona stint, I trimmed two inches off my beard. I’m back to 4.5 to 5 inches again. I’m finding that I use my boars hair brush again. I wasn’t when my beard was 6 to 7 inches long. I also stopped using the blow dryer to straighten and am going with a more natural style. Another great video.
I had a bearded customer come in and noticed him looking over at me. Of course I started a conversation asking questions about products he uses. It was amazing and I ended up giving him a box of swag from items I dont use any more🤗
Happens all the time for me! Guys doing my roof... left with beard products. Random door to door salesman... left with beard products lol the list goes on!
Great video, Dan. I'm at a stage as I grow toward "big beard status", where I'm finding out I have a LOT of curl and wave to my beard. I find that, even though I'm only four or five months in, I can't get my beard comb with the shorter tines through it. I picked up the Chicago Comb you talked about a few videos ago. Absolute game changer! It's my go-to first thing in the a.m. or when I get home from work (mask mash). Don't use the brush much any more, just to do a "top dressing" after my morning routine. Keep 'em coming, Dan. Learning lots.
Hey dan. Love the channel. The last eight months I’ve been on this beard journey. The products and tools you’ve recommended have made it so much easier to maintain. Thanks for all the time and research you do for us gentleman.
Chicago comb 8 for my medium beard has worked well. I haven't really stopped using other combs due to length, more because the CC8 works so well. I might use a comb with small teeth to tame curls, but that's because I don't have a boar brush. Getting a round brush and probably will use that more than the short teeth comb.
I’ve gone thru a cycle as well. Now that I’m around the 6 inch mark I recently went to the wider toothed Octane ox horn and really, really like it better than the regular at this length. Great video as always!
Good video. I'm going to purchase the combs you currently use . I have thinned out my beard a lot by not using the proper comb. My beard under my chin knots up so easy when I brush or comb I pull the hair out rather than remove the knot. My experience is, if it's not working right, stop immediately, wrong combs and brushes will damage your beard.
Great video, Dan! I got a Kent 12T (Ada) a while back and have been very happy with it for most part, but it has recently starting causing some static in my beard for the first time. No idea why - it's pretty strange.
A good detangling brush works for all lengths imo. I used my wife's detangling brush once when I had a short beard, and its been a staple tool since. I also use live bearded narrow tooth wooden mini comb on my stache. For a all purpose 1and done tool, I highly recommend a quality detangling brush.
Awesome video man. I have the beard octane ox horn comb and i love it! I have wooden combs and bores hair brushes but my everyday every use is my ox horn comb. You are truly inspirational to me man and i appreciate you and what you do and stand for in the beard community. Keep up the amazing work Dan.
I'm at 4 inches at length and when I won a ox horn comb it was last year in October and never used it until a month ago I started to use it to comb my beard before I put any oils in and at night to get any tangles out I still use a wooden comb to help style my beard but got a round brush to style my beard after the wooden comb
I am knew to growing and when I found your channel my beard came to life! I bought the Buffalo horn handled comb from Amazon, as I was waiting for it to show i happened to come across your video about tools and you referenced the same Buffalo horn comb I literally just bought.
A round brush really changed everything for me. I had never used one until recently, and now it's by far the most used brush I have. I like both a regular round brush, and a boards hair round brush. If you don't feel like your beard is styling quite right, and you've never used one, give it a try.
Great video. I’ve definitely experimented with lots of different tools. For my medium length beard, I actually like using a pick and come from underneath to poof everything out. Then I use a medium boars hair brush to style down the flyaways. The final touch is the best tool in my arsenal, my hands!
Hi dan yes I totally agree with you I've been growing a beard over the last 6 years on and off and have many of the same tools that you was explaining your used has your beard gets bigger .I myself am now at about 7 months growth again after shaving a 2 yeard beard off .i am at the moment using a wide wooden comb the same as u showed my goal this time round is about your length but this time i am maintaining the beard as i grow as my 2 year beard i just left it and wow what difference it makes with a bit of maintenance once every couple of months and using the right combs at the right length of growth so to clarify i totally agree with you dan keep the info coming love your channel 👍
Wow, I went through this same evolution and didn’t even realize it. Kent comb was my first and realized it wasn’t getting the job done, went to a ox horn and love it but lately have noticed that has been a chore, may have to get a handled horn comb now. I also find myself not using the boars hair brush anymore but have been in love with the detangler wet brush with the knobs on the end. All this time I thought I was doing something wrong, never realized it was part of the process. Thanks Dan C
I asked where you got your oxhorn comb yesterday and you’ve allready made a video about it, damn you’re fast to respond to your fans, thank you so much for a great video!😁
I was recently shopping for a round boar bristle brush. I had bought one earlier but it was just too big in diameter for my “short” beard so I wanted a smaller one. Found one like you mentioned with the holes for the air to go through as you dry and brush that also is boars hair. Best of both worlds. It’s made by conair and is very cheap compared to some others. So far would recommend! Animal horn is next on my list.
I’ve got a sawcut 7rt Kent comb and thats been goes everywhere with me for a year now , occasionally I use the boar hair brush for problem areas but my Kent comb proves itself useful every day
When I straighten/blow dry my beard I have the same experience as you, but if I leave it natural I've found my Boars Hair brush and round brush are very useful for styling to a presentable level. The boars hair helps interlock hair and make my beard lay flatter, while the round brush helps with dips. I always start with a wooden pick to detangle my beard, I have a Kent 12T and 10T that I rarely use anymore, they are the best combs though.
I agree, and have had the same experiences! I call that the velcro impact from the brush. When I go no heat, I unleash the beard beast! Let it breathe and air it out
I can remember the first time I tried my brand new Kent Comb, I was skeptical it could be that big of a deal. I don't know how I had a beard before it... Kent combs are incredible.
I totally agree especially with going from the Kent comb to Ox horn comb as my beard got to the medium length. Also noticed very rarely need the brush unless the beard is just being unruly in a certain area. Another informative video.
I totally agree, it definitely changes with length. I am at the 6 month stage and my go to tools have changed even in that time period. The best tools I have found so far for my beard are the W.E.T. brand brushes, they are amazing!! They glide right through the beard without any hangups whatsoever no matter what state my beard is in. I would Highly recommend them to all beardsman with a medium to longer beard.
One of the main reasons I switched from an ox horn comb to a handled ox horn comb was, I was pulling out hair trapped under my fingers as I combed. With the handled comb my fingers were removed from the equation and less hair was ending up in the sink.
I've had the same exact experience with non handled combs, I have a Kent 10T handled comb that eliminated that issue, but mostly I use a wooden pick when my beard is on the longer side.
Thanks for the video, Dan C! I have only used one type of comb since growing my beard and that is a Kent Comb. I have never considered using any other comb until now. Kent Comb still works for my current beard length,
Love this video! I'm still in what I feel is the short range and all I use is a boars hair brush and a comb. I have 2 different boars hair bristle brushes. A stiffer one for exfoliation and a softer one for styling and working oil through my beard. I am going for the medium length beard and knowing what tools to get before I get there is valuable info. Thanks Dan for the great video!
New products new Combs in different stages is a definite I use handmade wooden combs one just curved and with a handle they are alot gentler on the beard less split ends and broken hairs then plastic machine made ,going to chase up the ox Combs tho🇦🇺👍
Yes I have switched it up so much throughout my journey...I mostly use a wet brush/womens hair brush and it has helped so much with breakage..its very gentle and even helps kinda scratch that itchy skin without damaging anything and is probaly my biggest game changer in this category for me! I still use a kent comb for fine tuning and an oxhorn is on the shelf for use also🧔great video and topic Dan✊
Hi Dan, Have to send you another shout out for good advice. The ox horn comb from Detroit Grooming is the first comb to get through my 18 inch beard from top to bottom, under-beard and all. Your recommendation to comb right after conditioning while the beard is still wet worked. The beard represents about 3 years of growth. And yes the tools have changed during this journey. From a simple pocket comb while it was short. At yeard length started to use a boars hair brush and wooden comb. After two years growth the brush was the only way to get out the tangles, besides finger combing. Again thanks for the great content. Stay safe.
Dan, since you like the OX horn with a handle, take a look at the Kent 21T Wide Tooth Comb, it actually has a 25 tooth count, it's a double row (Detangler). Kent now calls it "The Diana" and when you look at the side profile, the spacing is same as the OX Horn. It's my go to comb these days with a thick, bushy, grey mid/long size beard!
I do the same thing to change my beard tools over time. I do keep those tools for a small or medium size beard just in case when I decided to chop off my beard again. Who knows.
Thanks for this Dan, I’ve just cross the 12 month growth recently and still being using my Kent comb and the bores hair brush. I have a depth tooth wooden comb that my barber gave me would I find is good for getting deep into the beard.
I agree. However, I have never been able to get the round brush to work for me, my beard is just so curly. But like you, I have quit using the boar bristle brush a while back. I am also a huge fan of the detangling brush, since I don't blow dry, it works amazing. Great video and topic!
I have loads of tools I've collected over the years. My beard is currently 6-7 inches long & I've found I use less tools now than when it was shorter. I prefer my beard to look natural so I don't straighten it any more & the only tool I use is my boar bristle brush from Zilberhaar. I detangle my beard beard with my fingers while applying oil & then use the brush underneath 1st & then down. I just can't get combs through my beard anymore due to snags.
Kent makes a “detangling comb” (very wide staggered teeth) and they also have a “large rake comb” that are better than any other combs for my long beard. They’re both wide toothed with a handle. Sometimes they’re a little tricky to find on amazon if you don’t search the right keywords but type in the phrasing I used and they should pop up.
I personally don't use Amazon, do not like the owner.eBay is better plus almost always free shipping. But anyway Kent comb / beard rake is a 10T or called Caroline, Fresh Beards sells them on there site along with great products and owner.
Brilliant video! I’ve been questioning for a while what I’m using or what I should be moving on to. I use my Kent & Beardbrand combs mainly as well as a pompadour comb to gently break up the hairs when I wake up. Not enjoying how they feel I’ve just had a look on amazon at ox & buffalo horn hair combs. A lockdown present to myself! Awesome stuff, thank Dan. Hope you’re staying safe & well
Thank you so much for all your information. It really helps me.I look forward to listening to what you have to say every time.I find your information very helpful.Thank you so much. I have much to learn.....
I use a ox horn comb first and then the boarshair bristle brush to remove the dips along the jaw line. My beard is almost at it's max length so I don't see me changing that routine.
I ditched my razors 50 days ago, and I think I've got at least 5 different brushes and combs at this point. I am moving more into the oxhorn camp, but I still love my Chicago #6, and I still use my boars bristle whenever I want more outer styling after my routine. I'm surprised it took me this long to find this video, but it's a banger as always Teach! I had my Beard Octane pocket sized oxhorn at work last night and a female coworker with hair down to her tushy had some knots, and when I offered it to her she looked at it and said her hair was gonna break it, I just laughed and said no it won't. She was amazed that it got her hair untangled as fast as it did, and my comb is still just fine hahaha
Such a helpful video! My beard isn't as long, but I have noticed the changes in what works. Also found that the comb or brush doesn't do it for my thick beard.
Nice video, I came to the same conclusion during the time I grow my beard, I never used the round brush but I use a lot of the chicago Model No 8, wich help me get really deep into the beard. Another great one Dan C. Have a great day.
Great video..at first I loved my man and mane ox horn pocket comb, still do it's just too small to do the job. Now that I've been growing my beard for 5 months I absolutely love to use the wooden comb from the Bearded Savant. Its beautiful after being conditioned with beard oil and butter lol. I love the positivity that you protrude, keep it up Brother
I have just kent combs of all size. I carry a r7t everyday in my pocket. Got the 9t and really liked it for awhile but I think my beard is a bit too long now but still works good if you keep your head hair short. I think I'm moving up to the 16t on my beard, which is what I've been using on my head hair. I have a ZilbarHaar Major boar bristle brush that is pretty stiff but the bristles are long so can be used for longer beard growth. You can always adjust the pressure on a stiff brush. Hopefully in a few months I can move into the deeper combing combs.
I find the boars hair brush to be great at shaping my mustasch to the sides while blowdrying my beard. After that i only need to apply a tiny bit balm to keep it in place rest of the day. No need to constantly correcting it with my fingers all day long.
Yoooo Dan!!! Awesome video!! I'm still a fairly new member to the bearded community. I dont own a round bristle brush, I dont own a Kent comb, I started off with a wood comb and standard oval shaped boars hair brushes. Ive had a few different boars brushes, some with super stiff bristles, and some with super soft, and I fully agree, I got my beard octane brush and is the best for me, it's a good middle ground between tough and soft bristles. I still use everything I've got, love running combs through my beard, and the brush, it all feels soooooo gooooood. I'm between 5 and 6in right now, and now that you say it, it is definitely getting harder to reach my skin through my beard with the boars hair brush. I wonder if I'll put it down or not soon. I prefer my handled ox horn combs over ones without. All in all, great video, planning on sharing this with my good buddies that are just starting out the bearded journey 😁👊🏼
I usually use a sandalwood comb right after the shower, to help distribute the oil after I put it on, and then a boar's hair brush once I put on butter or balm to help smooth everything out. I picked up Badass Beard Care's folding oxhorn comb, to have something with me when I'm out, and it's a great comb. Gotten lucky with a couple other companies sending me free combs and brushes with my orders.
Now that I think of it I have a firm boar bristle brush that I never really used.Custom made in Germany. Cost me a fair amount. Only use my Kent comb to comb my mustache. I'm about about 8" and find that my most used tool is my handled ox horn comb. Used it in the morning and at night. I've put it through it's paces and still going strong.
Dan, great video! Love my short round brush and wooden comb. Just cleaned them both yesterday. Quick question are people cleaning their tools more often with the Rona around?..I know i am...Talk soon. Pete
It always amazes me how timely your videos are. I, too, really like my handled, wide-toothed ox horn comb. I've been using it daily for the past few months. I use a wooden comb to disperse beard oil. I made a wild discovery this morning. I showered and bearded this morning but about an hour later, I got to working in my garage and sweated up a Gum stump (as we say in the South). My straight, white beard immediately got curls and got bigger! Freaked me out a bit. Well, I showered again with just a beard rinse. I did not apply any oil to see how my beard would react. Lo and behold, it was curly! Of course, I'll add oil later but I was amazed! I had been searching for ways to make my beard have more bulk and I think I stumbled on it. @Dan C Bearded, does this make sense to you? Have you ever heard of this before where someone with a straight beard suddenly got some curls? 🧙🏼♂️
I find that even with a longer beard, my boar bristle brush is super effective at getting flyaways to lie down. I just lightly run the brush over my beard after drying/styling and tuck those flyaways back into the beard.
Great vid. When you stored your boars head brush on the counter did you put it bristles down on the counter or wood side down. Or did you have it in a plastic bag or container. If container , any link for storage you use Thanks
Dan C Bearded did you do any cleaning of this day to day. I know you have the vid with the bowl. But each day after use did you rinse with water or do anything at all to clean it
Awesome video, I have a good arrangement of tools myself and also more on the way. I'm experimenting to find what works the best. I have a good routine that works well but want something the works as equally well but quicker.
Gréât vidéo! I did Kent comb first. Next purchase for me would be that round brush. Not sure I’m going to make it to the « handle phase », thinking of doing a considerable spring trim. Maybe you could do a video on how your trims have evolved through the journey. Peace!
I got a short beard and I been using a double sided creamo sandalwood comb it works on my beard but need to look into something with a handle so its easier in the mornings when getting rid of that bed beard as I like to call it
Hi Dan. I came across your channel yesterday and I am super happy with the content. Love your insights. I was just wondering if you could also share some good vegan options for Boar's brush and other animal based products that you recommend. I am sure it will be much appreciated. Love!
I’ve been wanting to dye my beard because I hate my streaks of white, but the guy that’s in the middle of the group of of you and your friends in the intro helped me change my mind.
DUDE! Don't even think about it. Your white streaks are a gift from God. My white streaks are, well, my whole beard, 'tache, and all of what's left of my hair so I have to get by on my natural charm and ready. You are blessed.
I still find the boars hair brush very useful at any stage of length. It might not get to my skin like when I had a shorter beard but it is very helpful taming stray hairs that like to go rogue on me. Very helpful if I just need a quick touch up. Also helps get crumbs out when I eat foods that give my beard so much trouble lol. I do need to get one of those handled ox horns tho
The longer my beard gets, the more I use bone combs. A wide toothed bone comb with a handle suits me just fine. You can buy a multi pack of them at Walmart for about $4 & I guarantee there will be a perfect comb for whatever type of beard style you currently have. No seams, no jagged edges, just a smooth pull through the beard with zero tension.
Excellent talk-through of your experience with the tools! Because my beard isn't as straight, to say the least, I've also dealt with wide-tooth combs (Kent and such are Fine and Coarse), not to mention Detangling Combs and Brushes. Also, my beard is much less dense, so I can get by without handles. Nevertheless, you've provided much food for thought.
Man I really do miss exfoliating with those boar brushes, was the best part of my daily routine. In the medium lengths now and it's not easy without really digging in.
I have also noticed a lot of changes with brushes has my beard grows in length and thickness started out with a simple wooden beard comb from Walmart the two-sided one and then later on Triad Barrel brush when it got a little longer than that the beginning stages anyways and then started messing around with afro picks the one with the metal tines is the one I usually use now has wide Space X they're all metal and it reaches the skin so I can stimulate the skin follicles after oiling and I'll also breaks up knots in my under beard and then for a smooth finish I usually go through the whole thing using one of those Sleek shampoo Combs with the long tines that are far spaced apart and that's what I use now and I'm a little over 3 years on my beard and plan on going longer and Fuller in the future so always looking for different products to keep it looking good and hydrated and also I picked up a few tips after I apply the oil I let it sit for about 5 minutes and then I gently comb through and then I put my butter in and then style how I like then I'm ready for the day and also a little bit of beard wax on my mustache and fly away areas really helps a lot to keep keep my beard under control throughout the day thanks for all the information a lot of the beard tips and styling tricks I Learned was from your Channel God bless you have a wonderful day keep living bearded brother. Mark B from Northern Illinois
I figured this out when David sent me his BFC comb and I tried it out but didn't find a use for it so early in my my beard journey I rather use my ox horn or boar brush but that's starting to change
Dan, as I was making some product purchases last night, I was wondering why you chose not to use balm anymore. I still get flyaway beard towards the back of my beard area that makes my beard flare out. I find the balm keeps it more tame for a few hours longer. Will just using oil help to weigh it down enough to keep everything together?
My beard has the same issue, I still use balm if I don't blow dry it, even though I'm at the 7-8 inch length. I use a tight round brush after applying balm and twirl toward my face and down to eliminate the flare out toward the back of my beard. I found doing that, it stays all day, also makes the back part of my beard look thicker. Give it a try and see if it works for you too.
I have only had the beard for 60 days now and I already don’t use the brush much anymore. I have curly red beard hair and the comb is the only thing that will get through the mess. It’s kinda sad cus the brush was my favorite and now I only use it to fix my mustache which is very thin and straight compared to my beard.
@@DanCBearded It’s weird though cus my dad has been growing with me at the same time and he has straight salt and pepper beard hairs so the brush still works well for him. I never realized how different each persons face hair was.
I’ve got a mediumish beard and I just got an ox horn comb as well as a boars hair brush. I’m trying to figure out how to actually use them under my chin. If I pull down against my neck, the hair curls under my jawline. Would you recommend coming/brushing up on the underbeard to distribute oils and exfoliate?
I wish I knew at the beginning to use the boars brush, but heck, at the beginning I wasn't even using oil lol. This would have been good to me to see a little before I transitioned to more length, but I made it through it lol. I was mainly just using a wood comb from live bearded that was fine. THEN I found your video about Chicago combs and realized my comb was too small. I definitely went through a number of tools, and I wasn't cleaning them enough, so I had to throw a few out.

Thanks Kevin! Great experince feedback 👊
Would have been so helpful in my earlier beard stages! Great video!

Agreed! Very unique
Great stuff, completely agree. As someone who like to change up his beard every so often I definitely use different tools for different lengths.
Oh I bet, you are a living example. I love that!

Thanks for helping with some of my confusion on what to buy and when! Great video 👍
You're welcome 👊
Hey dan. Love the channel. The last eight months I’ve been on this beard journey. The products and tools you’ve recommended have made it so much easier to maintain. Thanks for all the time and research you do for us gentleman.
Thank you for the kind words brotha!!
Chicago comb 8 for my medium beard has worked well. I haven't really stopped using other combs due to length, more because the CC8 works so well. Great video, Dan! I got a Kent 12T (Ada) a while back and have been very happy with it for most part, but it has recently starting causing some static in my beard for the first time. No idea why - it's pretty strange.
I get static from my kent comb as well, good ad on!
Cheers, another great video, you are making the journey so much easier, you are answering all our questions at every stage.
Awesome!!
A good detangling brush works for all lengths imo. I used my wife's detangling brush once when I had a short beard, and its been a staple tool since. I also use live bearded narrow tooth wooden mini comb on my stache. For a all purpose 1and done tool, I highly recommend a quality detangling brush.

Sounds like beard fate to me!
I have been looking at a Kent pick, I may have to pull the trigger after this comment! Thanks B 👊
Thank you Antonio!
Wow, a 2 yeard!? That's awesome!
That's awesome Steve!
Dude- Thank you so much for this. I'm a first time beard grower and I'm loving it. four months without shaving and I don't miss it at all😁
You’re welcome! Thanks for checking the channel out. Hopefully you consider subscribing and checking out the other videos
I asked where you got your oxhorn comb yesterday and you’ve allready made a video about it, damn you’re fast to respond to your fans, thank you so much for a great video!😁
Haha thanks!
I have heard great things about that tool!
I’ve got a sawcut 7rt Kent comb and thats been goes everywhere with me for a year now , occasionally I use the boar hair brush for problem areas but my Kent comb proves itself useful every day
That’s awesome! That will last forever too
When I straighten/blow dry my beard I have the same experience as you, but if I leave it natural I've found my Boars Hair brush and round brush are very useful for styling to a presentable level.
True quality! Time tested
I totally agree especially with going from the Kent comb to Ox horn comb as my beard got to the medium length. Also noticed very rarely need the brush unless the beard is just being unruly in a certain area. Another informative video.
Thanks Jeff!
Thanks Kent!
Great call Steve! It does limit how much of the comb you can use.
Thanks for the video, Dan C! I have only used one type of comb since growing my beard and that is a Kent Comb. I have never considered using any other comb until now. Kent Comb still works for my current beard length,
If it's not broke, don't fix it!
You're welcome brotha!
New products new Combs in different stages is a definite I use handmade wooden combs one just curved and with a handle they are alot gentler on the beard less split ends and broken hairs then plastic machine made ,going to chase up the ox Combs tho🇦🇺👍
That's fantastic!
Exactly my experiences with length vs tools. Totally agree.
Perfect!
Thanks brotha! I appreciate the feedback and experince 👊
Totally makes sense. A bit surprised you never mentioned the heated brush
That's a good call, I should have! It is a good regular option for shorter beards, but as I have grown longer it is just a problem solver.
Stay safe.
That's awesome!
I think I hVe to make a video dedicated to trying new kent combs!
I do the same thing to change my beard tools over time. I do keep those tools for a small or medium size beard just in case when I decided to chop off my beard again. Who knows.
Keep the tools, always!
Thanks for this Dan, I’ve just cross the 12 month growth recently and still being using my Kent comb and the bores hair brush. I have a depth tooth wooden comb that my barber gave me would I find is good for getting deep into the beard.
Congrats on the year commitment!
I agree. However, I have never been able to get the round brush to work for me, my beard is just so curly. But like you, I have quit using the boar bristle brush a while back. I am also a huge fan of the detangling brush, since I don't blow dry, it works amazing. Great video and topic!
Thanks brotha!
Ahhh, makes sense. A little heat would help a lot for that, but I understand not using it 👊
Kent makes a “detangling comb” (very wide staggered teeth) and they also have a “large rake comb” that are better than any other combs for my long beard. They’re both wide toothed with a handle. Sometimes they’re a little tricky to find on amazon if you don’t search the right keywords but type in the phrasing I used and they should pop up.
I am going to have to pull the trigger and make it happen!
I personally don't use Amazon, do not like the owner.eBay is better plus almost always free shipping. But anyway Kent comb / beard rake is a 10T or called Caroline, Fresh Beards sells them on there site along with great products and owner.
penny armc usually sold out there from what I’ve seen. But nothing against people who prefer not to shop on amazon.
Great tips! I honestly thought the boar’s brush was for longer beards. Definitely going to pick up a boar’s brush.
Oh awesome!
Awesome information as usual Dan! I just ordered an Oxhorn comb! Thank you brother!🤝❤️
Thanks!
Hope you’re staying safe & well
Thanks Adrian!
I think the handled long comb is next. I currently use the ox horn. I love it
🤝🧔♂️
Thank you so much for all your information. It really helps me.I look forward to listening to what you have to say every time.I find your information very helpful.Thank you so much. I have much to learn.....
That is awesome to hear, thank you Robert!
I use a ox horn comb first and then the boarshair bristle brush to remove the dips along the jaw line. My beard is almost at it's max length so I don't see me changing that routine.
Sounds like a great routine!
That's great!
Very helpfull. Thank you for taking time to do these awesome vids. Def an advantage for anyone new to growing their beard.
Man I couldn’t agree more. As my beard keeps growing the tools change as certain ones become less effective. Spot on brother keep the videos coming 👍
Thank you!
I started with the same, a comb and a boar brush. Now I use a pick with wide teeth. It’s absolutely true that the tools change.
Nice video, I came to the same conclusion during the time I grow my beard, I never used the round brush but I use a lot of the chicago Model No 8, wich help me get really deep into the beard. Another great one Dan C. Have a great day.
Thank you Martin!
Thank you!!
Great information brother.
Thank you!
Let it grow!!
I find the boars hair brush to be great at shaping my mustasch to the sides while blowdrying my beard. After that i only need to apply a tiny bit balm to keep it in place rest of the day. No need to constantly correcting it with my fingers all day long.
Good call brotha!
Nice, keep at it!
Thank you brotha! Keep killing it and j appreciate all the support 👊
@@DanCBearded Thank you Dan!! You keep KILLIN IT! 👊🏼🙌🏼
That's great!
That's great!
Dan, great video! Love my short round brush and wooden comb. Just cleaned them both yesterday. Quick question are people cleaning their tools more often with the Rona around?..I know i am...Talk soon. Pete
Not a bad idea to clean tools more 👊
I feel my beard seems to get a lot of knots so I might have to try some of the handled combs with big teeth, my beard is just no where near your
It always amazes me how timely your videos are.
Timely is my job! And yes, that can be very common. The beard will develop and do things you would never think!
I agree about 6 to 7 inch beard now stuff switched up as u was saying
Spot on!
I love this channel and am proud of you Daniel🤟🏼
Thank you! Your support means a lot to me. All the way back to your earliest love in your videos with your son. That will never be forgotten

I find that even with a longer beard, my boar bristle brush is super effective at getting flyaways to lie down. I just lightly run the brush over my beard after drying/styling and tuck those flyaways back into the beard.
That's great! I have dialed in my routine without it but I certainly can see it helping many!
Great vid. When you stored your boars head brush on the counter did you put it bristles down on the counter or wood side down. Or did you have it in a plastic bag or container. If container , any link for storage you use
Thanks
Wood down on the counter 👊
Dan C Bearded did you do any cleaning of this day to day. I know you have the vid with the bowl. But each day after use did you rinse with water or do anything at all to clean it
@@canine7236 I just get hairs and buildup out
Awesome video, I have a good arrangement of tools myself and also more on the way. I'm experimenting to find what works the best. I have a good routine that works well but want something the works as equally well but quicker.
Keep me posted if you find something that changes the game for you!
@@DanCBearded absolutely will do!
Awesome vid. Have you used the newer handled brush from beard octane. Any thoughts
Yup! Great tool. Sam has stolen two from me lol
Gréât vidéo! I did Kent comb first. Next purchase for me would be that round brush. Not sure I’m going to make it to the « handle phase », thinking of doing a considerable spring trim. Maybe you could do a video on how your trims have evolved through the journey. Peace!
That's a great idea!
I use the big comb and a brush!
Love!

Great video thanks for the tips 👍 love your channel
Thanks brotha!
subd, solved the majority of my questions in this vid. now to figure out what to comb my grape with?
lol I normally pick up on humor with, but this one is going over my head
I’ve been wanting to dye my beard because I hate my streaks of white, but the guy that’s in the middle of the group of of you and your friends in the intro helped me change my mind.
That is really cool!!
DUDE! Don't even think about it. Your white streaks are a gift from God. My white streaks are, well, my whole beard, 'tache, and all of what's left of my hair so I have to get by on my natural charm and ready. You are blessed.
I like wooden combs like the ones made by Creamo because they are made out of wood and so oil is actually good for it and won't break it down.
I use the Love Bearded long calm and live bearded boar brush seems to work excellent for me .
Awesome to hear!
Sorry about that misspelled comb and live bearded .
I would like to send you a photo of my beard and see what you would
Recommend for my beard .

Dude. Crumbs are terrible! I hunt forever and it always messes up a good beard day lol
I will have to check them out!
Thanks Leo! I caught a beard baron video where he read one of your questions, very cool!
Man I really do miss exfoliating with those boar brushes, was the best part of my daily routine. In the medium lengths now and it's not easy without really digging in.
The brush feels so good on a short beard lol
Thanks
You're welcome 👊
Very interesting as usual 😊
Thank you! Cheers!
Hey Dan, good stuff. I’m committed to beard butter, the question I have with my medium length beard is how often should I use it??
I would recommend using it each night before bed
Awesome comment, thank you Mark B!
How are you this day Dan? 🔥
Well with considering the death nut 2.0 challenge... I am doing well! Haha
I figured this out when David sent me his BFC comb and I tried it out but didn't find a use for it so early in my my beard journey I rather use my ox horn or boar brush but that's starting to change
Exactly! I find use for things I thought I would never use
What is a BFC comb
I love my Bushklawz brush.
Once you have enough length, gravity does all the taming you need 👊
My beard has the same issue, I still use balm if I don't blow dry it, even though I'm at the 7-8 inch length. I use a tight round brush after applying balm and twirl toward my face and down to eliminate the flare out toward the back of my beard. I found doing that, it stays all day, also makes the back part of my beard look thicker. Give it a try and see if it works for you too.
@@blazingbeardproducts2845 I'll give that a shot. I'll try a different brush with more bristles. Thanks for the tip.
Same here. No real need for a brush anymore, but can come in handy with the mustache
@@DanCBearded It’s weird though cus my dad has been growing with me at the same time and he has straight salt and pepper beard hairs so the brush still works well for him. I never realized how different each persons face hair was.
Great video dan you know this info is true based off exp my tools are starting to be irrelevant as well ...
Spot on!
Yes, 100%! If you check my most recent morning routine video (month ago or so) I really highlight and show that.
Dan C Bearded thanks! Just watched it and i totally get it now
I wish I knew at the beginning to use the boars brush, but heck, at the beginning I wasn't even using oil lol.
Let’s keep spreading the word to hopefully help new beards!
