I suffer from “The Split” on a daily basis and it can be both frustrating and discouraging. One “trick I have found that helps me is using a small clip to pinch together a group of hairs directly under the chin but not visible from the front or sides. Usually the clip is placed closer to the skin which can kind of train the hairs to be more centered or just leave it in all day to add a bit of bulk directly behind the potential split. When using this method I use the small clips that came off of my beard ornament bulbs that I received as a free gift from a Fable Beard Co. purchase. Hope this helps someone out there! 🙏🏻
My beard definitely start to fork bad around 12 inches too. I’m also an oil only for the day, I always loose the battle with the wind but it comes right back. Great video Dan! 👊🤘
First off. Epic beard dude. Secondly I suffer from the split beard also. Mine is 14 inches long and the split drives me crazy. I ride a Harley, so I tell many that's what causes mine to split 😆 Great videos man 🍻🍻🥃🥃
Great info Dan! I stopped trimming my neck line a while back and it has made a huge difference. Not only can I grow my beard longer but it is also fuller.
FIRST! My beard definitely has a split at the bottom. My neckline is naturally not very low, so I’ve learned to deal with it. I normally give my beard a pinch at the bottom, which gives it a more rounded look and helps bring that split together.
Thanks Dan! Great video. Mine happenned somewhere around 10", partially wind but moreso man made neckline issues. I live right on the coast in the UK so there always seems to be wind present, even a minor gust can knock me out of shape. I also used to trim my neckline to be tidy and it was way too much, until I watched another of your videos stating to leave it, huge advice!! and that is 75% of the issue, I have to trim back every now and then to let things catch up, it's getting there now thankfully! I have found that on particularly windy days a hair tie an inch or two up does a decent job of holding things down, or at least letting the wind take everything in the same direction! But of course you absolutely cannot use any balm or butter if you're rocking a hair tie and planning on taking it out once you arrive. If you've seen beardmeatsfood he rocks the hair tie look all the time and it looks pretty killer!
My beard is at a length that it's often going to a french fork. I did started to damp my beard to style it again. I try to do that around 4-5 times a day. While doing that, you can try to pop it back in the center to bring more density in the middle. For the wind, I'm trying to walk with my head turn to one side so my beard can go to my shoulder and catch the wind. You can always help with one hand while you turn or need to pass people. When I style with the blowdryer, I comb it in a direction of a U. If I try to do a V, the french fork is often more pronounced. Thank you for the video 🥰
Beards tend to fill out as they grow out - but only to a point. Most beards begin to thin out as they grow past a certain point too. I have a lot of hair on my cheeks and the front of my chin that stops growing - and contributing to the beard - after a few inches. Somewhere past collar bone length that starts to show in the transparency, shape, and style of my beard. Some forks can be fixed with styling, but if you don't have enough hair to work with, you have to accept it or take a few inches off.
Great topic! Awesome information! Mine has a ways to go but i can already see it a little at bottom on a windy day. The humidity is not friendly sometimes under my lip will be all curled up and ill get in the truck with ac and after a few minutes it lays back down, have to embrace it if youre gonna rock it for sure. Think it was Ken who mentioned over straightening, im doing this on sides and seems to help. 👊
My beard likes to split when it’s only collar bone length. Now that it’s about 8” from my bottom lip, it hangs straight. My right side grows faster than the left, so I have to trim it. But for me, the split never bothered me: I occasionally tie or braid it into two anyway. I am a habitual petter (?) I can’t stop stroking my beard just like a fidget. I have noticed that (at least for me) it helps to keep it straight and not forked. I don’t use product usually. I wash it in the shower and rinse it after meals and when I get up…morning beard is a real thing!!😜. I do oil it (Dr Nicks IPA) and I started using rosemary oil too. My daughter had some and spilled it so I bought her more and it was a 2 pack so I kept one. I’m working on my own oil with fir, sage and rosemary oils. It’s done amazing things for softening and strengthening my beard!! No more itchy too!! (Nicks that is, I haven’t made mine yet, still researching the ingredients)
I haven’t reached any point yet where I get a split. With this info though I now have the tools for when it does get to that point on how to tame it. Thx once again Dan!
Great video as always Dan! Mine splits between 4 and 6 inches. I've learned to forgive and forget with my beard. Especially when I have the top down on my wrangler. My tip is a beard bead. I made my own from horn and I just rock it all day sometimes! Peace brothers.
i definitely break wind. or wind breaks the beard. one of those. i do get concerned that a lot of wind breaks will cause it to break more without the wind, but i do stick to just light oils and usually with a little hand adjustment, i'm right back on track. I do want to learn a sold braid, however, which will bring it all together in the breeze. i'm not good at braiding and i feel i need a little more length before i really like the look of the braid. still hoping to one day have a full braid neck tie to the waist, but time will tell.
I was so excited when I saw the tittle of the video. Splitting is something I deal with. I live in Indiana so it gets humid. I’ve also been using thicker oils. Maybe that could be the issue. I think it’s time for a transparency trim as well.

I will just fix it once I'm out of the wind. The only issue I have with the splitting is when I use heat. Specifically a heat brush. Early in I was only styling it one way and never alternate the direction I would apply the heat. Later on I learned to change the direction i used the heat and now its much less prominent. Just style one direction on day maybe two days then change directions by the 3rd day. I usually alternate my heat application in 5 diffrent directions. Awesome video Dan. When ever you visit Kansas, you will be forever happy you dont have these winds. 97-103mph gusts two nights ago. Id say 20-25 is average with 50 being atleast 1 day a week. Crazy!!! Lol
Great video as always. I agree completely with your recommendations, as I do them too (low neckline, oil only during the day, etc). For the wind and humidity, our greatest enemies lol, I also use those tiny beard rubber bands. I know you're not a fan of using beard ties, but I find that using 1 band at the very bottom of the beard, like only 1-inch of hair being bound, protects from the elements, doesn't detract from the overall beard shape, and adds a discreet accent to the beard style. For a properly oiled beard, there is no damage. I'm curious if anyone has tried this as well, and what Dan's thoughts are on this. Great video as always!
Greetings, Dan, As my beard re-lengthens after the January post-Santa-season trim, I’ve noticed the split is more likely to occur when the longest ends are getting whispy. This is when normal wear-and-tear thins out the end of my longer beard resulting in less of the core beard being there to fill it out. After a maintenance trim to even out my beard to the core length, the fork is much less likely to appear. Big fan of not shaving or trimming a neckline with a long beard. For one thing, why bother? But more importantly, as you said, the neckbeard provides so much “behind-the-scenes” support and fullness to the cheek and chin beard that drape over it. Some beard bling, like a bead or sleeve can help resist the wind’s parting effect, but watch out in a wind strong enough to whack that bling across your face!
Now I'm riding my ebike a lot more around town, my beard is parting down the middle. Not a lot you can do at 20mph to stop it, unfortunately. So I either just go with it or, if I'm going into town for a meeting or need to look a bit less "windswept", I'll tie the beard up into a chin ponytail for the ride. I always put a chicago comb in the panniers for when I get there anyway, but tying it up does help a bit. I think it's just inevitable with longer hair that it will part somewhere - I'm sure it happens with head hair too - and I guess the chin is the most natural place for that to happen with a beard.
I live in Florida. I get a fork sometimes. I usually pull my beard straight down in the middle and blow dry it after the shower. It helps. I’ve never looked into humidity but will now. My beard bunches up in places and I’m not sure why.
Good video, on the second month of my regrowth, I have let the neckline grow. My co workers think I need to trim it but they don’t know I have learned from the last yeard I shaved off. The humidity in Texas is terrible but like have said about oils, I have a lot of lighter oils I use in summertime.
I am originally from New England, but I moved to Central (Southern lake county) Florida in 2013. I deliver car parts to commercial customers such as repair shops for a living. Many of these shops have their Bays open with fans blowing. This always wreaks Havoc with my beard. In the mirror I have noticed a slightly lower density in the dead center of my beard. It has not been too much of a struggle, but I find if I use a lighter oil with no balm, I don't struggle with this too much. However I do fuss quite a bit with my beard, and it annoys me when these fans mess with my styling. I have a mostly gray two-tone 5 1/2 inch beard. At the moment, I am wearing Copper John's Sundance Gray beard oil. No balm. I wish I had a little more density but this is not what I am working with.
I hate when my beard splits. I dont use wax or butter. Some times i try to squise my beard at the midle but it will open up at some point. I dont trim at all now days. And again. Thanks Dan. Stay bearded my friend!
A rubber band or a beard ring fixes it and looks pretty cool at the same time. Mine splits at about 9 inches, I can style control it until 11 or so, but after that I have to go Viking, lol.
Hello Dan C Bearded, I use to have a great mustcahe but I'm eventually loosing my mustache hairs as they are becoming very fragile. Now i my really scared to even touch them as in if they might break. My question to you is: How to strength my overfacial hairs from mustache to beard? Awaiting for your response. You are really doing something that's helps us in our day to day lives.
I love my belly button length beard split. Many years ago when I was but a young beardsman with a beard that was just touching my collar, a distinguished older gentleman looked at me as he was getting off of his Harley and said “Son, you haven’t had a beard until it splits”. A few years later I found out what he meant and have rocked my beard split ever since. When I’m walking in a stiff wind and it’s spout and blowing back half over each shoulder I am in heaven.
I can see a fourth cause for it: the hair under the lower lip. They tend to not grow as long as other hair on some people. Therefore, the beard has less thickness in the middle.
Man at about 7in beard I'm feeling the fork effects definitely want to go longer so I hope I can keep growing with healthy habits and get it in the 12in mark without fighting a French fork too much. As always thanks Dan your content is always so relevant and insightful.
ya . mine does that . if i know that is windy out . here near Lake Erie area . which we do get strong wind . i will put a hair tie in and put it mayb about a inch half or 2 inch up to keep it from blowing .
When I had an long goatee it would split. I had no neck line, so maybe this was the reason. Last 3 years of rocking a full beard, I haven't had this issue.
I Definitely get the fork, the last time I did the yeard I was using butter during the day and on windy days I got the fork. I am six months into my second yeard, I’m not using butter during the day and I am already experiencing a much easier time styling and keeping my beard styled just using the oil. I have a naturally higher neckline but I also stopped shaving my neck when my beard started to cover my neck so I’m hoping to not experience the dreaded fork as much. With that said though I have every intention of growing my beard without trimming any length for two years so if it splits I’m going to embrace it as much as possible 😂
Hey Dan. I’ve recently started having this issue a bit so I revisited this video. The only factor it could be other than my genetics is the humidity with the longer beard. I have a completely natural neckline and the wind isn’t part of the equation for me. Did you collect any additional solutions other than the light oil? If so, could you share and what are some of recommended light oils? Thanks!
I don't have that problem yet, but I'm probably at/approaching the 3 inch range. I do shave my neck a few inches to just past my Adam's apple. Is it too late? If I stop letting my barber "clean" up my neck will things take its natural course or is there some things I have to do to make it all the same length since the rest of my neck/face already has such a big head start? irrelevant question: I switched recently from Honest Amish to some monestery beard oil from Mount Athos, can I send you some to review? (Not affiliated, I just want to know if what im using is good stuff) Ingredients in order: 1 bottle: laurus nobilis extract, laurus nobilis oil, helianthus annuus seed oil 2nd bottle: rosmarinus officinalis extract, helianthus annuus seed oil, rosmarinus officinalis oil It's $6.58 for each 50ml and I feel that's far to cheap to be good, but idk.
For your neckline, stop now and trim along the way as your neck hairs catch up. For those oils, I would not use or recommend them. Honest Amish would be a better option
So I noticed this in my beard when growing it out longer than I ever have. My hairs on the side of my chin seem to grow or last longer than my chin hairs and grows this way… I thought it was a mistake but it could be genetic right? I guess I’ll rock it.
I haven’t had the French Fork issue with my beard, but it would absolutely drive me nuts. I only use oil during the day and my beard is only in the 5” length range.
Longest I’ve grown my beard was for one year, and up until that point, I had not noticed any forking. I am curious to see if it would beyond that. I have a higher natural neckline, which is pretty much where my head meets my neck, so I can see some transparency or forking happening eventually. I think the natural waviness I have helps a lot.
This makes a lot of sense. I only get a fork when the wind slaps me in the face. When it does, I turn my head to one side or the other, and it keeps it together. Do a quick pat down when i get inside, and good to go. The butter and balm also makes a lot of sense. If I do use any butter in the morning, it is a very small amount.
The question I hate the most is "what are your beard goals?" Or "how long you gonna let that thing get?" I've pretty much just stared saying it's not a destination, it's a journey...
Well I think the neckline is my cause of forking. Once it starts to get to the 6.5 to 7 inch range I cannot stop it from forking. I have learned to embrace a trim to keep it a little shorter but maintain as much length as possible.
Yep I hate the split lol. When I first started growing the beard I was triming my neck all the way to the jaw line even when I got length to fit it in the beard guards for work ( food manufacturing plant ) that caused several problems like lack of density, very transparent and the split. I'm coming up on 3 years of beard growth and stopped shaving the neck line about 2 years ago which solved the density and transparency issues but my beard apperenty just likes to naturally split. I do use butter on a daily basis but I may stop using it on my days off and see if that helps.
@DanCBearded thanks still not as nice as yours one day I'll get there though. Had I kept growing my beard from 10 years ago that would have been a legendary beard.
Yeah mine splits pretty bad all the time, and it bothers the hell outta me. I really want that super full long beard look, but right around the 6-7 inch mark it starts to split. I’ve never let it get longer than like 8-9 inches but im letting it go until it doesn’t grow any longer. And i guess if it splits, it splits…. 🤷🏼♂️ My girlfriend loves my beard and long hair, and so do I. But I do wish it would relax and lay straight like yours.
I’ve found that the hairs under my lip and on chin don’t grow as long as the hairs on the sides of my face which also lend to my beard split. Truly have to either embrace what you’ve got or change it it up.
My natural neckline is just above my adams apple, ugh. I'm currently about 9" in length and can still make it look decent so I guess I will just embrace what I have. Hope to get around a ft of length but might not happen because of my neckline. Great video as always
Fun reason for beard forking: I play billiards pool and for good form, one must rest their chin on the cue. After a few hours of playing and stroking the cue forward and back, the beard gets parted haha. A wide tooth comb and brush help fix it afterward.
Maybe for those who have natural/on purpose french forks, I'm thinking about an alternative: to actually make it your style and take it to the extreme! A long or very long french fork could be styled with two or more beard beads and have a somehow-vikingish look. Perhaps going even further and use beads in your moustache (doesn't have to be that long) to complete the effect. I mean, many rock/metal artists sport that style. Marco Hietala (ex-Nightwish, Tarot) is a good example. He has a pretty amazing french-forked goatee, kinda his signature. Or just the _classic quesque_ french fork. There are plenty of possibilities to style it, even some real geometrical capilar monuments, for short/medium/long french forks. Thanks as usual Dan, and stay bearded... or fork bearded!
My fork was absolutely severe for years. I did all the wrong things including using balm with a waist length beard shaving my neck way too far up and I’m an incredibly fast walker. I don’t think that helped. Now that I only use butter at night, it’s a bit shorter and I grew out my neck hair. It looks about a zillion times better but the fork is still there at times.
Ive been using elastic hair ties (on the larger side) only on my walks since the wind would part my beard so easily. I always wondered, can this be damaging to the hairs? Maybe the smaller the tie, the more potential there is? I always brush it out and wash it afterwards and don't really see damage
Mine starts to fork at about 10" and I'm not a fan of that look. It's one of the main reasons I end up trimming it and give up going for terminal. And yeah, humidity sucks 😅
i personally have not my beard lock together like a sheep's fleece it create large ringlets , but i do have two friends that it happens to i will have to tell them
I have extreme wind 16hrs out of the day, extreme humidity 24hrs out of the day and a genetically high neckline. I'm screwed. I guess I'll stick to braiding my beard.
Happens to me in the wind and it drives me crazy, especially when each half blows over my shoulders. I tend to just loosely fasten a hair tie in at the very bottom to band it all together untill I get inside 👍
Great video Dan I don’t know y I’m just now seeing this video lol but I deal with the split on a daily it drives me nuts lol but I tie it up now on windy days an I have a scar on my chin so don’t really grow hair there so that probably don’t help lol but I appreciate you and your channel u helped me so much really love this community it’s great. Sorry I haven’t been on your live streams lately been working crazy hours but I watch it when I can
The advice of “leaving the neck line” has ruined me … now that I know, I can’t help but notice how many fellow beardsmen unnecessarily diminish the greatness of their beard by shaving too high on their necks. Most beards look SO much better with a natural neck line. Thanks, Dan!
My beard is so floppy that the slightest breeze splits my beard in half and it gets blown to the sides and even over my shoulders. I use oil only, no balm or butter.
Hello Dan :) I really like and appreciate this channel, all the info and tips are fantastic :) This video is on point for me, it looks like i do have a very high neckline. it does not grow anything below. so this was very informative. rock on :)
Thanks Dan, I watch all your tutorials. Unfortunately where I live I deal with wind and humidity so I battle the fork (which I don’t really mind) and the frizz (which I hate but balm helps with that) what I cannot do is get rid of the jaw line dip. I wash and condition daily (deep condition once a week), pat dry, oil (wait a few minutes) , then blow dry and comb in every direction, but around the jaw, and still no success.
Key is dialing in the routine of using a round boars brush and the blowdryer to go against the direction of the wave. Just takes lots of trial and worries. All hairs can be trained for the day
Not sure it will help you but it helped get my waves out. Take a few days off from styling just wash and oil let the beard be natural for a bit. Then get a detangleing brush ( I use a combo detangleing / boars hair brush from mad viking ) to style with I found with a comb I was pushing too hard and following the curve of my face.
I do have this split/fork for a long time i could hide it pretty well but now i'm going for a long beard and it seems more and more impossible to hide it. So now i'm looking for a way to make it look good with the split/fork.
I found with my hair, due to it being mostly straight except for large waves... I wasn't getting the Velcro effect making it feel thinner and more transparent than it really was... The hair just kinda hung there... Oh, and the wind... 😂
Hey dan can u help me and give me ur opinion on good beard oil for using heat cus i have magic city, luxurious bastard, babc, live bearded, scotch porter
I always thought that these guys intentionally styled it to split in the middle. I can’t say it looks bad because it gives the beard a different personality.
No for me the third point it's the opposite, the wind it's what drives me crazy, gonna try out growing that neckline. Thanks And no, sorry but I'm not gonna embrace Balin's beard haha

I myself haven’t had this problem yet, but I’ve always thought that the beard fork looked really cool to be honest. Great vid as always Dan!
That’s good to hear!
Great info Dan! I stopped trimming my neck line a while back and it has made a huge difference. Not only can I grow my beard longer but it is also fuller.

I have, and they are great! Not for me or my style on a regular basis, but nice to have in the toolbox
As a guy that lives in one of the windiest states(North Dakota) YOU CAN NOT BEAT THE WIND!
Nope. It always wins!
Greetings, Dan,
As my beard re-lengthens after the January post-Santa-season trim, I’ve noticed the split is more likely to occur when the longest ends are getting whispy.
Absolutely Rob!
Oh yeah, so true! Riding the bike is like the fork on roids 😂
I live in Florida. I get a fork sometimes. I usually pull my beard straight down in the middle and blow dry it after the shower. It helps. I’ve never looked into humidity but will now. My beard bunches up in places and I’m not sure why.
Florida humidity is such a beast and challenge
Great video Dan the man! The wind definitely sometimes does that to me ! Luckily don’t have this problem often thanks for the tips
Thanks for watching buddy!
Good video, on the second month of my regrowth, I have let the neckline grow. My co workers think I need to trim it but they don’t know I have learned from the last yeard I shaved off. The humidity in Texas is terrible but like have said about oils, I have a lot of lighter oils I use in summertime.
Oh for sure!
I totally understand Alan!
I hate when my beard splits. I dont use wax or butter. Some times i try to squise my beard at the midle but it will open up at some point. I dont trim at all now days. And again. Thanks Dan. Stay bearded my friend!
Totally understand!
Bro your beard is amazing 👏 thanks for the tips
Thanks for the kind words!
Another great informative video. Thanks Dan.
Thank you shade!
Great video Dan!
Thanks Max!
awesome video Dan! 💯
Thanks Kris!
Thanks for the video Dan
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching Derek!
A rubber band or a beard ring fixes it and looks pretty cool at the same time. Mine splits at about 9 inches, I can style control it until 11 or so, but after that I have to go Viking, lol.
It will stop the fork, that’s for sure! You just have to be cool with rocking that style
Hello Dan C Bearded,
I use to have a great mustcahe but I'm eventually loosing my mustache hairs as they are becoming very fragile. Now i my really scared to even touch them as in if they might break.
My question to you is: How to strength my overfacial hairs from mustache to beard?
Awaiting for your response.
You are really doing something that's helps us in our day to day lives.
It likely has to do with your internal health. Lower stress, drink more water, eat better, exercise more, and anything else good for you
I love my belly button length beard split.
Love it!
Wind.... Our biggest nemesis, oh I hate the wind 😅
The enemy I can never defeat lol
It sure feels good but darn it's annoying 😂
Dust in the wind is even worse
I can see a fourth cause for it: the hair under the lower lip. They tend to not grow as long as other hair on some people. Therefore, the beard has less thickness in the middle.
Most of the hairs at that point on your face, such as your cheek hairs as well, never grow very long. I wish, that would certainly help!
Man at about 7in beard I'm feeling the fork effects definitely want to go longer so I hope I can keep growing with healthy habits and get it in the 12in mark without fighting a French fork too much. As always thanks Dan your content is always so relevant and insightful.
Thanks for watching Caleb!
Another Great Video Thanx Dan
Glad you enjoyed it
ya . mine does that . if i know that is windy out . here near Lake Erie area . which we do get strong wind . i will put a hair tie in and put it mayb about a inch half or 2 inch up to keep it from blowing .
Hair tie can be a great solution!
Love this video Dan, Thank You.
Thanks Ralph!
When I had an long goatee it would split. I had no neck line, so maybe this was the reason. Last 3 years of rocking a full beard, I haven't had this issue.
I think so, sounds right
I Definitely get the fork, the last time I did the yeard I was using butter during the day and on windy days I got the fork.
That’s awesome, love the goal!!
Thanks!
No, unfortunately this just comes with length. Make it work as much as possible for you, and then embrace the rest.
@@DanCBearded perhaps I’ll develop a thick French accent to compliment the fork!
@Tommyc463 😂😂😂
(Not affiliated, I just want to know if what im using is good stuff)
Ingredients in order:
1 bottle: laurus nobilis extract, laurus nobilis oil, helianthus annuus seed oil
2nd bottle: rosmarinus officinalis extract, helianthus annuus seed oil, rosmarinus officinalis oil
It's $6.58 for each 50ml and I feel that's far to cheap to be good, but idk.
Could be, but check this video out for help on this: ua-cam.com/video/EUhqoTBcg68/v-deo.htmlsi=cQQFJnzpnOcbo-Yw
I haven’t had the French Fork issue with my beard, but it would absolutely drive me nuts. I only use oil during the day and my beard is only in the 5” length range.
You should be good to go then!
Super interesting!
The head turn can be a nice move!
@@DanCBearded Thanks! I Accidently did it, and I realized of this works well!
The question I hate the most is "what are your beard goals?" Or "how long you gonna let that thing get?" I've pretty much just stared saying it's not a destination, it's a journey...
Love that answer!
Well I think the neckline is my cause of forking. Once it starts to get to the 6.5 to 7 inch range I cannot stop it from forking. I have learned to embrace a trim to keep it a little shorter but maintain as much length as possible.
Yours looks great!
And rocking a legendary beard!
I totally get it!
I’ve found that the hairs under my lip and on chin don’t grow as long as the hairs on the sides of my face which also lend to my beard split. Truly have to either embrace what you’ve got or change it it up.
Absolutely!
My natural neckline is just above my adams apple, ugh. I'm currently about 9" in length and can still make it look decent so I guess I will just embrace what I have. Hope to get around a ft of length but might not happen because of my neckline. Great video as always
Keep doing what you’re doing Tony!
I'm looking to grow a long goatee, Should I grow my sideburs and then shave the sideburns off later, Or can I grow a goatee without the sideburns?
Totally fine either way. Just personal preference for the journey of getting there
@@DanCBearded Thank you for your reply
I'm at about 7 1/2 inches now! Humidity and wind is a for sure factor!
So true! It really started for me at 6+ inches so you are in the heart of it now
Fun reason for beard forking:
I play billiards pool and for good form, one must rest their chin on the cue. After a few hours of playing and stroking the cue forward and back, the beard gets parted haha. A wide tooth comb and brush help fix it afterward.
Oh interesting!! I can totally see that
Maybe for those who have natural/on purpose french forks, I'm thinking about an alternative: to actually make it your style and take it to the extreme!
Oh absolutely! Nothing wrong with embracing it at all
@@DanCBearded I agree. If I could sport all beard styles at once, I would hahaha. Every style has its magic, with proper care of course.
This is something i'm now trying to do!!
My neckline connects to my chest hair and it grows faster than on my face… look like I got some support to achieve my goal: growing a big beard.
That’s perfect!
Happy Father's Day Everyone!
Thank you!!
I live in the south. My beard was at 13". The only solution for me was to take it to about 8". Everything styles nicely now.
Sounds like you worked it out well!
Yeah humidity is a big issue for me because I work in a refrigerator and a freezer all day long so I'm in and out of cold and hot
Oh yeah, I could see the challenge there
Great subject
Thanks!
That’s great to hear Vince!
So you only wear oil during the day?
Yup! Every single day. Here is a video from like almost 4 years ago on it: ua-cam.com/video/shCtavjWesI/v-deo.html
Ive been using elastic hair ties (on the larger side) only on my walks since the wind would part my beard so easily. I always wondered, can this be damaging to the hairs? Maybe the smaller the tie, the more potential there is? I always brush it out and wash it afterwards and don't really see damage
Try a clip instead. It holds just as well and doesn’t pull on the hairs when you want to take it out.
If it’s a tie designed for hair, your beard will be totally fine!
Mine starts to fork
at about 10" and I'm not a fan of that look. It's one of the main reasons I end up trimming it and give up going for terminal. And yeah, humidity sucks 😅
Right there with you!
i personally have not my beard lock together like a sheep's fleece it create large ringlets , but i do have two friends that it happens to i will have to tell them
Oh gotya!
I have extreme wind 16hrs out of the day, extreme humidity 24hrs out of the day and a genetically high neckline. I'm screwed. I guess I'll stick to braiding my beard.
Rock what you got and make it work for your comfort level. You got this!
Happens to me in the wind and it drives me crazy, especially when each half blows over my shoulders. I tend to just loosely fasten a hair tie in at the very bottom to band it all together untill I get inside 👍
I’m right there with you Bailey!
Sorry I haven’t been on your live streams lately been working crazy hours but I watch it when I can
I always appreciate seeing your name pop up! Totally understand when it’s not possible though
I just embraced it and then I braid it now, I don't hate it.
Awesome!
The advice of “leaving the neck line” has ruined me … now that I know, I can’t help but notice how many fellow beardsmen unnecessarily diminish the greatness of their beard by shaving too high on their necks. Most beards look SO much better with a natural neck line. Thanks, Dan!
One of the most common early mistakes!
My beard is so floppy that the slightest breeze splits my beard in half and it gets blown to the sides and even over my shoulders. I use oil only, no balm or butter.
I feel you!
Hello Dan :) I really like and appreciate this channel, all the info and tips are fantastic :) This video is on point for me, it looks like i do have a very high neckline. it does not grow anything below. so this was very informative. rock on :)
I’m glad it could help!
Thank you both I’ll give them both a shot. Don’t know what works without trying, right?
I do have this split/fork for a long time i could hide it pretty well but now i'm going for a long beard and it seems more and more impossible to hide it.
So now i'm looking for a way to make it look good with the split/fork.
Oh very cool!
I CANT WAIT to potentially have this problem 😂
Haha love that perspective
*I have some of my worst beard fork days when I go down south..."*
Houston Tx: *"Hold my beard"*
😂
I found with my hair, due to it being mostly straight except for large waves... I wasn't getting the Velcro effect making it feel thinner and more transparent than it really was... The hair just kinda hung there... Oh, and the wind... 😂
The wind! 😂
I just tell people I'm so committed I grew 2.
Haha that’s the best response I have ever heard
I got so tired of my beard forking off, I started wearing 3-4 little clear hair clips in it that I got off of Amazon to stop that bs.
That’s awesome!
Hey dan can u help me and give me ur opinion on good beard oil for using heat cus i have magic city, luxurious bastard, babc, live bearded, scotch porter
All of those other than scotch porter will be good
That's great thank you dan for your advice by the way my name is jerry its just that this is my wife's email lol
Haha thanks Jerry!
I always thought that these guys intentionally styled it to split in the middle. I can’t say it looks bad because it gives the beard a different personality.
For sure, I totally understand. Very natural thing though
I can feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord 😂 🎶
😂😂
No for me the third point it's the opposite, the wind it's what drives me crazy, gonna try out growing that neckline. Thanks
And no, sorry but I'm not gonna embrace Balin's beard haha
Haha I hear ya
Knock on wood bit I haven't had this problem yet. I Must have a lot of supporting actors under there. Haha.
Luckyyy - napoleon dynamite voice
@@DanCBearded loved that movie. "I made you a delicious sea bass." Lol
is it alright if 1-2 hairs comes out when combing mustache, hair that have white ball at their end.
Yup! Totally normal
Well, I live at DR (windy + humidity) to that, add my neck line ... Lol... I'm doomed!!!!
Dude, my beard was something special when I was in the DR last summer lol
@@DanCBearded the struggle is real XD
I have this. And before I watch the video, my guess it comes because of the shape of my chin. Tiny chin=split beard.
That can play a part
