My husband has been rocking a beard for a couple years but never had a clue how to trim/maintain it (no one ever showed him how). Then I came across your videos a few months ago on how to do beard trims/maintenance at home to share with him, and they have been a game changer! I will say, I've been the one studying up and learning these skills to replicate on him, and I have improved so much because of your videos and his beard is the best it's ever been. THANK YOU for sharing your knowledge!!!
As somebody who lost his dad at early age i want to thank you because your videos really helped me to figure out how exactly to maintain and trim my beard... Really appreciate your work!
For some time, I've been wearing a long beard, but I've always struggled with trimming and styling it effectively. Your videos have been a revelation-they're incredibly helpful and easy to follow for beard enthusiasts like me. They've sparked my interest in self-trimming and enhancing my beard. I'm looking forward to seeing more detailed videos on trimming long beards and mustaches on your channel. I'm also excited about your upcoming tutorials on shaping a rounded beard and chemical straightening (relaxing). Keep up the fantastic work!
Just a quick note to say thanks. Had a disastrous beard trim recently, he undercut it and made it look transparent and weak at the front as well as lopsided, I can't find a decent barber round here to fix things and the clippers I had were awful. So armed with new Gamma+ clippers and trimmers set and your videos, I plucked up the courage to have a go myself. Your videos took the mystery out of things, it's not a dark art after all and I now have a 'soft' square beard and a trimmed and shaped handlebar 'tache. You have made an old man (and his missus) very happy, thanks!
Hola, Matty. First of all, thank you for sharing all of these tricks and details on how to model our beards like you do. These recommendations are very useful. Second, I admire your beard and how well these 3 styles fit perfectly on you. You are so blessed for having a versatile beard like yours. Finally, I really love how you encourage us to improve our skills on shaping our own beards with a magic ingredient known as PATIENCE. Thank you for your ideas, your time spent on creating content like this one and your leadership, Señor Conrad. Regards from Tijuana, México.
Growing my first beard in 60 years. It's at the 2-month stage. I'm going to let it grow out for another 2 months, but I'm now starting to think about what style I want, and how to achieve it. To help me out on my first trim, I'm upvoting the request for full-length videos on all those shapes. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Love these tips! Your channel and channels like it have REALLY helped me up my beard game. In 5 or so years, I've gone from having little growth ability to a beard that only takes a couple months to be strong. I've only sat in one barber's chair and honestly, I probably spent a hour fixing it after leaving, so I guess I prefer to trim/style my own beard. Being a balding guy, a good beard is a huge compliment to the overall aesthetic. Thanks again, Matty!
Adore this channel so much. Glad you’ve recognized how much value your teaching style has and are making this content. One idea! I’d love to see a series of you consulting on beard styles for a few guys with different head shapes. Could be a nice way for people at home to see how to approach assessing their own noggin and what would look best on them.
Thank you, Matty! I’m finally getting that good square shape that I couldn’t quite figure out how to get before your videos. Thanks for sharing your skills.
I'm 73 and have been growing my beard for just over 2 months now. I want to let it grow for another 3-4 months before deciding on a shape, though I'm leaning towards rounded now. I'm bald on top and I keep the side hair medium long, but tighter around the ears and lower back, so that's another issue I have. I don't want to do a buzz or shave my head yet. Your videos differently have me thinking.
Thanks so much for your videos! So passionate on this! You trim around your beard and let it grow again and again, just to show us how to do. Thanks for all the passion you show here!
Love your content. Requesting a How to shape trim a wide circular beard? Most goatees with connected chevron mustaches have narrow strait sidelines and I prefer circular. Love to see what you can do. Thanks for considering, Maestro!
Man I just started watching your videos in a lazy attempt to grow my beard and I got to say these videos gave a more confidence to actually grow it and educate myself on how to take care of them. I’m such a fan and hopefully I can keep learning from your videos. The triangular shape fits me the best but I have sometimes taken a little too much from the bottom and sides trying to achieve the right look. Slowly getting better tho. 👍🏻
Thanks. On vacation didn't bother shaving. Then got some nice reactions on my beard. Now 2 months underway and proud of my beard. It's blond and gray. There us a problem coming up. What styke and length II want and finding a good barber to guide me. Your channel helps a lot.
Hi Matty! So glad I found your channel! Used your trimming technique and finally have the square beard I've always wanted! A few more weeks of grow and trim and I'll be exactly where I want it!
Matty, thanks for the great tips! Could you consider a tutorial on a more layered & natural look. Although, it can definitely be more difficult to master. That is, to keep trimmed but beard walls more layered and natural rather than straight, flat, and completely uniform. For example, Leto Atreides Dune beard look. Maybe get someone with a large beard and wittle it down and layer it to look Oscar Isaac Dune like? Haven’t found anyone that shows this, but, you’re the one man that can pull that off on UA-cam!! Let’s do this Matty!
Could you do a video discussing growing and grooming styles of the mustache in combination with a full beard? I am currently trimming to the top of the red of my lip, which seems to be common for many men. But I see most beards you show have the stash trimmed to the bottom of the lip and I don't know how to achieve that from my current style
Solid video as always, Matty. Point to be noted- it's worth mentioning the "hybrid shapes", like "square and round" (parallel sides, slightly rounded bottom) and "squared ducktail" (flat bottom but parallel to your jaw; not pointed). Reason I say this is because these have become more popular over the years than these classic shapes. They're also more natural than the above 3, in my humble opinion. Regardless, as someone who styles his beard like a ducktail in the morning and it becomes a round shelf with parallel sides as the day progresses, I'm very pleased with this video and this guide. Thank you!
@@mattyconradgrooming true that. And I'm happy that you explained the fundamentals in such detail. Haven't failed even once since adopting your teachings. Only wish you taught us common folk in Germany too.🥲 But until then, lots of love and gratitude!
Also you’ll notice in the thumbnail for this video I am wearing a rounded base with linear sides. I think the most important thing is learning to understand the basics so you can put them together in any for you see fit.
Great video as always! I finally have a jawline thanks to your tutorials! I would love your recommendations (even a video) on Barbers you like in NYC, in particular Brooklyn. Cheers!
I have been trimming my beard with no clue of what I am actually doing. warch time i get new shap as I was just experimenting. Thank you so much for the information. I would love to see a full video for triangle shape.
Always motivating to watch your video. Give me confidence in grooming my own beard. I was always worried that this won't apply to me being black, but all your tips work wonders. Continue the amazing work.
Love your videos ❤ for me, a short to middle length business beard would be very helpful to learn. I have an uneven beardgrowth, one side growing down, the other growing softer and sideways. I have an hard time using anything like guards, because one side needs to be shortened, but if that happens to the sideways side, it will be much flatter and a visible difference.
Great video, as always. I’d love to see a video of you talking about your hair and hair in general. How often do you get it cut, how often do you wash it. What’s the out of the shower styling ritual. Etc. Thanks!
Thanks for these great videos. I’ve tried two barbers with less than stellar results I find that the spoonbill suits me best as well. Would love more in depth videos, especially with tips for guys with sparse side hair. I know I can’t go too short or it just looks scraggly.
Hello Matty, Thank you for sharing your wide knowledge regarding beards. It definitely improved my looks. I would appreciate even more your take on the hairstyles, styling and home grooming of head ;)
I’m gonna be honest Matty, I like how you look with the rounded beard. It looks dope. Also, let’s be honest, we will probably want an individual video for every shape you just did haha 😂 My favorite internet beard guy. Have learned so much from you, as well as my hair stylist since, other than me, she barely trims any beards hahaha, so I’ve been sending her your videos so she can leave me nice and clean, better than I do it myself 😂
Thanks would love to see more in-depth on all three shapes. I think duck tale is were I need go. I struggle with the big moustache. Once it gets long as yours or a bit longer it is difficult to style. If you could do video on long moustache care trimming would be awesome. Thanks for all the tips
Hi Matty, awesome video as always. I style a rounded shelf with flat sides. I tend to tilt my head back but trim downwards to compensate. Seems to do the trick.
Great video as always. I always refer to your older video about how to tame an overgrown beard. Almost felt I was comfortable with that process but this raises the bar. I need to start practicing. Thanks for sharing. Great beard man.
Absolutely love this video, gotta be one of your best. Just wish that background music would disappear when you're talking or at least have it dialed back. Thanks for the beard tips!
Recently found your channel and I’m loving the advice! Currently trying to go from a bit past stubble to a longer beard. If you or anyone else has tips for how to handle the “awkward phase” I would really appreciate it lol
Thank you for your videos! They really helped me with my beard journey. Other barbers I visited really liked it and were really surprised it's a DIY from UA-cam videos 😂
Ive had my beard for a few years now, ive had it short, ive had it long, neat and messy. The best beard ive seen and the one i want to emulate the most is Duke Leto Atreides played by Oscar Isaac in Dune. If you could take a look at this style that would be amazing! It seems simple but so powerful!
Where can i go to schedule a beard trim with you? I want to take a vacation week, and thouht coming to see you and the shop would few days off. Marcello
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Matty! Classic aesthetic yet very informative!! I always love the nerdy stuff and what about the white T huh? Lol! No one does beard content like you my friend!!

Thanks for taking the time!!!
Thanks man!! It takes the longest to do but I really like to get nerdy about stuff.
I would definitely love full length videos on all these shapes. If anything it makes for some great viewing during my morning coffee 🙂

Matty, how often do you recommend people trim off flyaways from their beards when styling them?
Thanks Matty, when I started growing full beard from a long term goatee the best information out there was always yours ... still is!

I really liked the lean sides with the round bottom
I literally have been waiting for these videos for months now.
Btw, my dad has a beard, quite like yours.
Thanks Matty, full length on styles 2 and 3 would be welcomed! Super helpful, thank you
One of the best videos I’ve seen on this topic! Thank you 👍
Wow… thanks!!!
Nice job Matty! I always look forward to your videos! I agree, the ducktail looks cool. I am two months into achieving one myself!
Great video Matty, i prefer the pointed Shake of the beard.. Looks awesome!!!!

I see that Rick Rubin master piece on the desk there. Keep creating my man!! Thanks for all the info!!
It’s a great read. Really enjoying it.
Would love to see a video specifically on the Garibaldi style beard (rounded with mustache that flows into the beard).
Great vid, Matt! Full videos, please 😅
The squared off shape is so great.
Thanks! Honestly I kinda like them all 🤷🏻♂️
Me encanta la ducktail
Best youtube channel
Thanks for watching!!!
Helpful, thanks. Triangular's definitely favored in my book
Do you have links to the combs/tools you use?
I like the square shape beard. Im looking for a more detailed video on how to create the square beard shape please
Off topic question, can you do a video on the jewelry (wrist band, rings etc.) that you wear.
Great video. You look a lot better with a triangular beard
Clipper and trimmer recommendations?
Great video, Brotha 💪🏽💯

love it, i just love docktail beard.

What is your opinion on the Wahl High Visibility trimmer?
Can you please do a video on how to properly maintain a goatee?
Absolutely love this video, gotta be one of your best. Just wish that background music would disappear when you're talking or at least have it dialed back. Thanks for the beard tips!
Excellent feedback.., I’m still working on my video editing… clearly haven’t mastered it yet 🤫
Hey Matty, any tips on styling a wiry, patchy and not so 'dense' beard?
That’s nice , only if mine was thick , mines thins on and like a medium thick below the jaw line , but I make it work just never really trim it
Love your channel @Matty Conrad ! Question- what is the difference between a ducktail and brogue beard style?

For shaving on the cheekbones and on the neck(cleaning up a beard) do you recommend transparent shaving gel?
AWESOME videos Matty I do the square beard I find it easier

Do you recommend any good beard books on how to shape and trim a beard as well? Love all the content.
Mate, very much appreciated you detailing to us how to (square seperate video if we can, please?)✌🏻🇦🇺
How'd you end up feeling about the new trimmers? Recommendation? Thanks for another great video!

Where can i go to schedule a beard trim with you? I want to take a vacation week, and thouht coming to see you and the shop would few days off. Marcello
