Thank you so much, for such a wonderful video! This is the home I grew up in, and this is my Dad 😊 I may be a little biased, but he truly is one of the most amazing human beings you will ever meet. He built that log cabin all by himself. Brought all the logs from across that marsh, (before it was flooded for the ducks unlimited habitat)and stood them vertically, one by one, because he had nobody helping him but my mother. He has to be the most humble person you will ever meet. But he is my hero!
Hi Krissy! It was a breath of fresh air meeting you and your Dad. So glad I was able to spend some time with such wonderful and genuine people. Thank you for your kindness, and I look forward to talking to you both again! SP
The quality of your productions has gotten amazing !! I feel like I'm watching a professionally produced big budget nature show with "personality"! Great job Slim!!
This is where Slim shines. Give him a unique topic or person and he morphs into a master storyteller. Not to mention the unique geology of the bay. Good stuff.
I've had the pleasure of boon docking the Shire and meeting Don, a unique experience. I've met folks from the USA and Australia .. So glad that you got there ..
I've got a Maritimes Story I'd like to share. In New Brunswick, it was getting late and campgrounds (to us) appeared to be too far behind or ahead to get there before it was real late and dark. Stopping at a roadside stand we asked the lady if she knew of any camping spots and explained our dilemma, from BC, didn't know the area and got ourselves into a bit of a pickle of where to sleep. With zero hesitation she pointed to a little turn around on her driveway and offered it to us. Not only that she brought down some fresh homemade pie later that evening. Rural Atlantic Canada rocks, for sure.
Of all of your videos, this one is my favorite! The rock formations and ocean waves captured my heart. Don seems to be a true gentleman and willing to share his piece of paradise. Thank you Slim for taking me along.
Hey Slim! We really need more places and people like this gentlemen. And it's good that people like you can find such places and tell about it. When filming nature and experiences becomes as beautiful as a painting and your narrator's voice sounds like a poetic poem, well, then it's impossible not to like this video.
You had a near-magical adventure this time, Slim. Your newly found friends, Don, Sally, Hope, and the Tin Man, at The Shire free campground, were definitely worth meeting. And The Shire was an excellent base camp for adventures in the area.
I have watched many of your videos Slim. I have to say this one touched me in a special way. Your camp host reminded me of my late grandfather. He didn’t own a campground, but he owned a house with open doors for anyone who wanted to stop and share a story. His garden produced many meals for family and friends. He never asked for anything in return except for conversation and friendship. My “Pop” will be missed always. Thanks Slim for what you do.
Add "Poet" to your long list of accomplishments. Beautiful place, the Shire. It is lovely that he opens it to people. Hope he is able to continue for a long long time.
A morning upload 🤩. Had to call the boss & tell him I was running late ⏰ Slim just uploaded a video gotta watch it on the big screen 📺. Its cool 😎 the boss is a subscriber too completely understands.
Tourism New Brunswick should pay you for this. Super quality. I live a few hours away and never heard of this place. Thank you once again for your highly informative, descriptive video. Glad you are here in the Maritimes.
Great video Slim. Maratimers. Yep. Had a guy from Nova Scotia Just walk in my house in middle of nowhere BC and announce, HI! I'm Kirby and I am going to live over there. Thought I'd bring some rum to visit ya. Coolest guy ever.
Wow. You have to stop and smell the roses. Most times you will find a huge garden. Beautiful. Thank you Slim for showing us how beautiful our country is.
Wow Slim, The last few days I've been waking up like a kid on Christmas morning checking UA-cam to see if there was a new video from you yet. And this morning you did not disappoint. The quality of your work, The genuineness of your conversations with your guests, and the adventures that you take your viewers on are just truly top-notch. I really appreciate the effort and time you put in to this.
I love this quote! Don is my dad, and I think I would love to have this quote put on a piece of driftwood or something, and hung in the greenhouse (that's what we call the sunporch they were sitting in)
Slim that was fantastic. Don and his dogs are so special. You don’t get to meet too many people like Don in this crazy world yet that is exactly what we all crave. I will be traveling down east in the next couple of years so I’ll have to stop in to The Shire and shoot the s*it with Don. Bob Wells the leader of the Nomads wants to do exactly what Don has done and that is to buy a huge piece of land and let other Nomads stay for free. A safe place for all. Thanks Slim! Cheers!!!
@@karentaylor6923 thanks Karen you have no idea how much I am looking forward to that trip and the possibility of meeting Don and Slim. Take care. Cheers???
I couldn't agree with you more, the journey often times are more fascinating and interesting than the destination. The Shire looks like an awesome place to spend time at, and Don seems like a very nice guy that is more interested in people enjoying themselves than making money.
For me, the Shire would be the ultimate camping spot. It has everything that makes camping so special. Beauty, tranquility, peacefulness, and congeniality. What a wonderfully fantastic place!! Whoever told you about the Shire has done us all a favor not to mention your brilliant filming skills.
Thank you so much Slim for your wonderful travel adventures. I really must bring my camper van dream alive and head east next spring. You are an inspiration
Thank you for sharing Don’s shire and showing us the beauty you can’t find along the way and showing him so much respect in how you presented his land.
Slim this is one of my favorite videos. What a wonderful place in so many ways. It is nice to run into a person like Don from time to time. Thank you for brightening my day.
That's the secret of New Brunswick, you have to take the time to seek things out because they don't always jump out at you. The same goes for Prince Edward Island, don't drive pass the dirt road, drive down it and see what it offers. I suspect this is true of many places in the world.
Regarding cemetery, in Romania we have one called "Sapanta" or "Happy Cemetery". with cheerful colors...and funny text on graves...for example, on one grave is something like "This is resting my mother in low...tree more days to live...I was sitting here and she was reading this, You who pass by here try not to wake her up at home if she comes to me again with her mouth, yes, that's how I behaved so that she wouldn't come back. Stay here, my dear mother-in-law.". All graves have similar text...and related to the way of living of the man...or the passion, his job or the way hi died...etc.. Unfrotunatly...is a little bit hard to drive a RV/camper from Canada to the est of europe :D
Loved seeing the kayakers around the flowerpot rocks. I really enjoy your videos because you really highlight beautiful things and places. I can't get out and travel the way you do so I really appreciate your videos cuz it helps me to see places that I probably will never ever see. It's great! I would love to visit Don's Shire!
WOW ! What a awesome video ! So much to see and enjoy. Slim thank you for this video it is so very good and so well done! Emmy quality ! I am going to come back later to watch this a few more times. Thank you Slim for sharing this. THUMBS UP to you.
Don is a rockstar, a rare breed . Slim , your storytelling in prose and pics are amazing and getting better and better. I’m still hoping that you write a book . Or two.
A true place of solace...and the four-legged company ain't bad either! 😊 What a tremendous service to all who stop to stay awhile...perfect! Bruce and Otis
So very special. Not only is it a beautiful and unique area, Don makes me so hopeful for humanity. As do you Slim, always. Thank you for continuing to share your video treasures with us.
Congrats on 139,000 subscribers- your channel has really grown ! I’ve been checking often for when you’d put up another video. And this one was definitely worth it ! This is a real Find !! And FREE ? My favorite video
Don is such a awesome man , he and the Shire are a national treasure.
The quality of your productions has gotten amazing !! I feel like I'm watching a professionally produced big budget nature show with "personality"! Great job Slim!!
I agree 100%. I made a similar comment a few videos back. I feel his stuff is so good it should be on PBS so even more people can watch.
I concur!
I came here to comment the same thing. There’s better production quality here than a lot of shows I’ve seen on PBS.
I agree completely. Great job Slim!
Outstanding camera, choice of music, dialogue. Always among the best. Thank you. Slim you take great care in producing your vids.
This is where Slim shines. Give him a unique topic or person and he morphs into a master storyteller. Not to mention the unique geology of the bay. Good stuff.
So nice to see in this "Me World" someone like Don that is sharing his little part of the world. Wonderful episode.

Morning coffee always goes with a Slim Potatohead before work! Greetings from Ontario.
I felt like I was there. Thank you for taking us along!
What a wonderful man. We need more people like Don.
Oh wow, a classic Slim production. It's amazing how the story is really the star of the travels and not the destination itself.
As long as the world has people like Don. The world has hope. Sometimes the real treasures you find are the hearts of others.
Loved Don and the Shire! Bet you got some great ideas for your new property. 😉 Thanks for taking us along!
I'm at a loss for words to express what a beautiful experience watching this vlog was. Thank you Slim, wonderfully done as always.

Chaga is good stuff. I grind it and make tea. It doesn't take much. One thing, if you drink it too often, it will stain your teeth.
